i have seen many posts here regarding godshost.com hosting company, as i have noticed that the owner of that company is hosting 80% of the identity theft networks for illegal credit cards trading.. i have reported this issue to admin@godshost.com and support@godshost.com / abuse@godshost.com a weeks ago without receving 1 reply from them about it,
all of the ircds server that keeping the illegal network up is from godshost.com 86.106.137.* - 89.40.71.*, Even this company used to supply alot of other illegal networks of ircds as i believe the reason behinde that is to force the network owners to pay more or even the double of the server cost so this how it make more profit!

I have noticed over 10 sites hosted on HostFresh which are abusing my copyright and stealing softwares from a company which I'm affiliated with I sent hostresh email to abuse@ however no actions was taken its been almost a month since I sent the email out.
I asked them nicely to remove that infringing site but they do nothing I sent them another email today Waiting to see what happened and I wanted to bring this here for some advice what should I do if they do nothing after another month? I'm not much expierenced with this but the company is loosing a lot of money and I'm being pressured, hiring a lawyer is a lot of money too so I tried to get it fixed with emails but they dont want to help me solve this.
I know theres a hostfresh rep here

is it legal to host links to indirect content such as rapidshare/megaupload?
I've seen alot of sites hosting these contents and the servers (from traceroute) are hosted in the USA where copyright law are enforced heavily.
what do you think? Will my webhost take my site down if I host these contents?

I've had a server for over a year now, performance used to be great and support was close to instant.
They don't offer any kind of control panel or bandwidth graphs/usage, but this wasn't much of a problem since there were no issues.
Suddenly, everything went horrible within an instant.
1st of September:
My server's networking kept going down for 15 minutes every few hours (84% packetloss), a traceroute showed it was a problem at their router.
I filed a ticket and got a reply saying 'I'll have someone look into this now.'
3rd of September:
I got no reply besides that one, so I filed another ticket.
5th of September:
2 days later they replied with 'I will check on this momentarily.'
7th of September:
Again no reply besides that one, and today another one: 'I will follow up with an engineer later today for you.'
After a few hours: 'Can i reboot your server?' (I replied instantly giving them approval).
Again after a few hours: 'OK, I will be working tonight to keep an eye on your server throughout and so I can pinpoint something right as it happens.'
Exactly 2 hours after that last reply, I replied 'It's down right now'.
And now, 5 hours after that I still haven't received a response
But there is more...
All they did in those 7 days was:
Code:
fsck -y
umount -a
shutdown -r now
umount -a
fsck -y
mount -a
mount
mount -o,remount rw
mount -o remount,re
mount -o remount,rw
mount -o remount,rw /
mount
cd /scripts
cd /
ls
cd
ls
w
who
exit
Their site mentions 'Our support department is opened 24/7 by ticket system or phone.'.
While I'm typing this, I'm still on hold after 40 minutes of waiting with a massive phone bill as a result.
I am desparate..
I have little options, an IP change will upset even more customers (I already lost several due to this downtime) and their support is simply impossible to contact.
Several of there engineers have an account here at webhostingtalk which show they are online every single day, so my ticket is simply being ignored.
Their BBBOnline program has expired too:
Code:
# Non-payment of the annual BBBOnLine license fee or BBB Accreditation dues;
# Failure by the business to maintain its BBB Accreditation, or abide by the program standards or dispute resolution requirements of the BBBOnLine program

Recently i took a windows dedicated server. I am facing some strange problem that i never heard before. My site is : somex.com developed in ASP. I am hosting it in my dedicated server. When i am checking through copyscape.com i found some strange url somey.com has the interface same as my site.. & all of my content is displaying these.
Looking like an exact clone. If i update a content page in my site .. it is getting updated directly there also.. I am really surprised & confused with this. All did he changed in the site is " he is using his own adsense publisher ID "...
All of those site urls are looking like this : [url]
Check these uncanny symobals in url = ?l=
Previously my hosting provider used to block this domain... Now i took a dedicated server with plesk. I got the IP address of that site but i don't know how to block it using plesk or remote desktop ..Just give me an idea if you can.. i will try to resolve the issue.
While iam doing research on this topic i got this url :[url]
It seems the same issue but i do not have .htaccess fine in my ftp.. i never used it.

I purchased two SSL certificates from HostGator a few months ago for each of my sites. I realized that when I go to my website and click the "lock icon" at the bottom right of the screen, my personal identity is revealed. In Internet Explorer, I click the "Details" Tab then go down to Subject field. It has my Street, City, State, and Zip Code. Of course, I don't want my personal mailing address listed there and I never authorize Hostgator to put this information on my SSL Certificate.
I've speaken to a few HostGator customer service reps and they all say different things. I spent 40 minutes on the phone with an incompetent employee who ended up opening a support ticket with improper grammar and incorrect things I told him on the phone. I've gotten really frustrated. One said they cannot remove that information on my SSL certificate. Then another said they can reissue the SSL certificates without revealing my mailing address for $25. I never even wanted them to put this information on there in the first place and now they want to charge me. Now another one says that what is displayed on your WHOIS information on your domain will be displayed on the SSL certificate. And since my registration is private through godaddy, that I would have to make it public whois then change it back to private so Comodo can verify my identity. I'm lost in translation here with everything they are saying at HostGator. My question is, what do I tell Hostgator? What are my rights? Why are they charging me for a simple task? It's to the point where I want to somehow get some kind of information about my SSL certificate so I can call Comodo directly to resolve this issue rather than going through their reseller, HostGator.
It's gotten to a point where I want to just call up Comodo and buy SSL through them directly so that it would not reveal my personal mailing address on my SSL certificate. To hell with Hostgator, unless you guys can provide some good things to tell them on the phone.

Does anyone have experience with the cheap $1 web hosts?
I don't mind paying for hosting, but I only need one script installed on a server that runs a cron file once per day and I don't want to pay $5 to $10 for that.
My question is basically this: is my credit card safe with these $1 web hosts? Can they be trusted to keep my identity safe?

I would like to write a review about Sharktech.net. Well first of all I am on there hot deal plan 3. I have been with them for a few days. The server took about 50 hours to be set up, and then another hour to deliver my server login information. However, today when I got back from school I was suspended. The message is as follows;
We have temporarily suspended your service due to AUP violation of unauthorized IP usage. Your server has been using 208.98.1.66 & 208.98.1.67 IPs that do not belong to you. Once you confirm this incident, we'll unsuspend your service and you'll have to immediately unassign these 2 IPs.
Additionally, your mainIP is 208.98.1.12 and according to activation e-mail, your extra IPs were 208.98.31.64/26 (208.98.31.66-126). However, due to some problem that occurred with your IP range, we're forced to replace these IPs.
This is your new IP allocation:
(IP Address removed)
Please make sure you will never use again any unauthorized IPs, other than 208.98.1.12 and 64.32.31.66-126. If you have any further questions feel free to ask.
Thank you.
I was so angry after reading this. There welcome email clearly stated that I could use those IP's, so why should I suffer because of a mistake made by sharktech? This effects me in many ways. First of all my cPanel licence is licenced to the IP which I was suspended for using. Second, now I will have to reinstall cPanel giving me a large amount of downtime. Third, I have already lost a client during the 50 hours wait for the server (I have to cancel my old one so I don't get billed for it again). And lastly, I have to do my school work already since I am waiting for my server to be reactivated, during in which time I could have been importing accounts.
Speed-wise the server is OK. I ran a few tests on the server and the quality is good. You can certainly trust this company, but be sure to verify everything with them. Sharktech, if you are reading this please do not think that this is a negative review, I am just really unhappy about this.

I have server from many providers, hetzner, sharktech & burst.
But the worse i found is of burst.net.
I have been with them since 2+ month now, but the quality of service am getting since i order has been not nice.
from the beginging server used to get crash after every 5-6 days then i need ask what happened, and they were never able to provide the reason.
i ignored it as reboot were within 15-30 minutes which is acceptable.
But since last 15 days. server has been crashing every 12-15 hours.
one of the technician said that its hard drive, (oh comeon hard drive has nothing to do with it. i will let you know later why.)
then i asked him to change the hard drive.
First they offered me data recovery package which costs some $$$.
I said ok just put os in new hard drive and attach my old hard drive so that i can take backup.
I asked them why. then they changed the whole machine with everything brand new. and attached my old hard drive
I took backup and after 2 hours its dead again(crashed ).
They never replied me within hour or so after that.
They blamed that old hard drive is causing crash.
alright i asked them to remove old hard drive and what happened? Still crashed and dead for 3 + days now.
you can have a look at whole conversation.

Just make sure whenever you do business with anyone , they should be responsive and they should know what they doing.
My contract will expire on 9th of nov, but i guess my money is already wasted.

Sharktech is hit and miss. They are not professional or courteous at all. Everything is done THEIR way or the highway. You either love them or you hate them. It's just the way it is.
Anyone who is truly business-minded and has a grasp on how the real world works will not like them. Dealing with them will NOT be like dealing with a "real" company like the cable company or phone company, even IF you're paying Sharktech MORE per month than you pay for your utility bill.
If you're just looking for the cheapest option for your side-business that you don't really care about too much, and you can tolerate the occasional email from Sharktech that makes you go "WHOA!", then use them.

While reading a lot of posts and blogs about hosting, I just wanted to ask if someone has an idea on how to find files with illegal content.
I just tried a few bash scripts, but if there are a few thousand files, most of them stop working or produce server loads that stop the whole server.
Is there any software already out there or any script to scan the content on server for phrases?

I have a cpanel 11 server with php 4.4.6 installed. my site use php scripts and one day even if the file was not edited, not touched at all , i get errors like
Parse error: syntax error, unexpected ']' in /home/xxx/public_html/wp-includes/post.php on line 37
I checked and could find a lot of illeagal characters in my php file. See below. for post_status , it became post_statuó and edit_date became edit_date<8d>. If you read through the code, you can see a lot of illegal characters. This is why i get parse errors. I had to replace the file from backup and the issue fixed. But this problem continues to occur for more files and i can't find a reason for this. Again I am the only one with access, I use BBedit to edit php files when needed in Mac OS X, and beleive I know what is being edited and again, those file which gets errors does not need to be edited for nothing, not even to modify wordpress.

I am not a web host. I do have my own server that I host my company sites on and some of my friends use it as well.
I had someone ask me if I could host about ten pages on my server for him. He said the following," Hello. What is your base hosting price... say for a dozen page static site? (making some Page Rank sites on different hosts to mask the connections to my main website)"
This question gave me an uneasy feeling, but then again I am not familiar with this tactic. I have two questions since the above was asked.
1. Is this illegal by search engine rules.
2. Can my websites be affected if it is.

So learn from the same thing, if I set a website sell cracked properties and only delivery the product through CD or email (not downloadble one) I can host it with HG as long as no offensive files in their server? Or in this case HG just ignore it because could not understand Indonesia languange?

I'm trying to find at least three web hosting companies to choose from to host a Joomla websites on a shared server. Would consider dedicated if the deal was right. I have a friend of mine who wants to create a church website, and is looking for the best deal. I use Netfirms which I have never had an issue with, but I didn't want to be bias, and would like give him other options to choose from.
Is there a good WebHosting Review site, I could check out, or maybe someone could recommend their top three. I reading threw the forums here and I noticed there are not that many complaints with Hostgator. Again, I just want to see if there was anything out there better.

Lets say you're a customer looking for web hosting, but do have technical experience - you know, you develop your own websites, you've had experience in this sort of thing before.
What if you came across a provider who seemed to offer a good service, they're high quality, they can host your website on their brilliant setup etc... but they do not provide any e-mail accounts with your hosting?
We're developing our own shared hosting setup, our own control panel too. Regardless of the control panel though, we wouldn't feel comfortable hosting peoples e-mail. We have plenty of experience in every other aspect of general shared hosting - but not looking after e-mail accounts nor the associated software.
To be honest I don't think that many shared hosting providers truely handle e-mail properly, and that job should really be left to the professionals.
We could of course guide customers or potential customers on why we won't offer e-mail accounts (i.e. not wanting to offer something we know we can't provide to a high enough standard) and instruct them on how to setup e-mail with another provider (such as Google, who will do this for free with limitations).
The alternative to the above is that we mask in a third party to look after e-mail, i.e. resell someone elses e-mail services as part of our hosting packages. The third party would require API access to setup/remove accounts..
What do you think? Are we just acting stupid trying to provide web hosting without e-mail hosting included? I noticed a while back Dreamhost encouraged their customers to use an alternative e-mail provider!
