So with a VPS you can host multiple websites?
Do certain packages come with WHM where you can make an account for each of your domains?
Also, what is the importance of having more IPs? Does having 1 IP allow me to have only 1 site hosted?
I think this is the right place to post this if not then please move it to the correct forum. Now, I have IIS 5.1 how do you host multiple websites from the same PC or server using ports, I searched around and found very little of use to me it mainly said stuff like: "Right click you defult website, mouse over the new catagory and click new website" That solution is exactly what I needed!! but it only says New "Virtual directory" please help!
,if this is not possible on IIS 5.1 please tell me how to upgrade to IIS 6.0 or give me some very useful links
Hello guys, I have been a longtime lurker (too long ) and I look forward to becoming an active member on the site...
I am still in the process of researching a reliable web hosting company. It has been a blessing and a curse to have so many choices. I plan to host multiple ecommerce websites (5) and will need SSL encryption. I have looked at Hostgator as a possible candidate, but their business package has just one dedicated IP address...
If I am running 5 seperate ecommerce websites, will I need 5 seperate dedicated IP addresses in order to utilize SSL for each individual site? My suspicion is yes due to security purposes...
Also what are good SSL certificates? RapidSSL appears to be a cheaper one, but is it the same as other certificate issuers? Or is buying certs equivalant to buying domains; just but the cheapest ones....
Thanks again guys... Just curious on what my options are. I'm "starting" out and testing the waters so to speak so a dedicated server or higher cost solution is out of the question yet. I would like to find a good quality shared server hosting plan with a reputable company who doesn't overloard servers for profit....
Any ideas what you guys would recommend with the above mentioned... ixwebhosting appears perfect for my needs due to the fact you get 8 dedicated IP's (so they say), but I have read nothing but bad things about them + the price is too good to be true...
When I hear the words "Unlimited" I want to run.. Unlimited and Cheap... LOL *rolls eyes* Want quality, fair price, for the above mentioned items...
I'm trying to figure out how I would host 20 or so websites using one static IP address and 2 servers, on a network behind a router.
I think I have edit the Apache config files, but that's driving me crazy. Is there any other easier way?
I currently host my own website with windows server 2003, it is a long ip address. I use a DNS redirector service to make it a real domain name. I was wondering if I can host more than one website?
View 2 Replies View RelatedI'm about to the point where I am ready to host my website. I already have a domain but no hosting plan. In the future I may want to have several different websites each with their own unique domain. I was wondering if I choose a hosting plan for one site, can I use the unused web space for additional domains/websites?
View 20 Replies View Relatedi currently have a reseller server in the states but ive seen for the money im paying (and im not using the space actually) i can get a VPS server here in the UK which i can combine for webhosting and other development projects. I am after a UK based VPS for the following requirements:
Host 15 websites
Access the box remotely and dial-in to the box which needs to be configured as a VPN server (the box will act as a router, i presume masquerading on eth0 for the connected vpn clients to go out through the server and onto the net).
Traffic will not be too high, maybe around 75GB per month.
Around 3-4 websites run forums on (small size phpbb) and the other sites are again small and mostly used for email.
I will need full root access and maximum configurability.
Preferably Suse 10 as i have worked with that before but i am open to suggestions on other OS. I need to configure the pppd service and easier this is via the OS the less time i have to dig in scripts and terminal! I wouldnt mind windows but on a VPS this will be a resource drain so i am happy to get more performance from the box by sticking with smaller footprint of linux.
Plesk for website management, or cpanel, i dont mind either way.
I dont however know how much CPU/RAM i will need, what is a sensible amount? I dont think my requirements are too strenuous, what would be a good sensible amount of RAM to select to allow me to host say 50 web sites in future?
I have heard good things on the forums for the following:
a2b2.com
cheapvps.co.uk
1and1.co.uk
I know you get what you pay for so i do need something reliable, but if people say the service from the above sellers is good i will go for them as the price is fantastic. It would be great to hear of other recommendations also.
I have a Windows Server 2003 package installed on a server. I own a number of websites that are being hosted some place else. How do I get my websites set-up to run on my new server?

Is this a reasonable price for a dedicated server? Would you recommend a different configuration of hardware that might make it cheaper? I would also like some examples of other sites on similar configurations if you have any, so that I can show my client what they use.
I may be given the task of being administrator of a website. I have never done this before.
Can anyone recommend any resources for web server management which covers things like security, efficiency, backups etc?
A lot of people start off with a dedicated server when they first start their website because they feel they will eventually need it anyway. They also don't want to go through the trouble of transferring their website in the future. Do you think it's wise for a new website to do this or do you feel they should start off with shared hosting and then transfer their website after it already has a lot of traffic?

When i try to open any website hosted on my server (around 50 of them) i am being taken to following malware website;
[url]
[url]
This is a problem with my Limnux server running Apache and not a virus on my local computer as customers from all over are reporting the same issue.
As soon as i restart Apache eveything returns to normal with no such redirects.
I think my server is being attacked causing http requests to get redirected to some malicious website.
This issue would resurface almost every hour and would not go away till i restart apache.
So far my Datacenter techs. have not been able to identify the cause of this.
After rebooting my server, my websites are no longer working.
If I access the plesk machine on the local network by it's hostname, the default Plesk page shows as expected. Everything on 8443 works too.
All hosted sites do not work. FTP DOES work. This seems limited to an http problem of some sort.
I am running Plesk Version: 12.0.18 on CentOS.Earlier today my service provider had a massive issue and my server was down for several hours. Upon it being back online i've restarted but now I cannot load any of my pages. I have 10 domains setup and if I ping their name servers or the server IP i get packets received now.
One of my installed domains is [URL] ... now if you try and load this url you get a time out but if you try to access admin page URL....None of the subscriptions are able to load their websites when i type in their URL and well it worked before it went down.
I want to save the access logs of our websites on an external server. If I do this now with the default setup, the gets overwritten every day. The desired file name format whould be: websitedomain-tld-access-2014-10-24.log
How can I tell Plesk to do this and how can I make sure the statistics keep working?
On our other servers we use rotatelogs for this.
We are migrating an existing multi-site Windows2003/IIS6 web hosting system with
CFusion8
MS Access backend databases
SQL2000 backend databases
http and https site access
to
Windows2012 R2/IIS8.5 with
CFusion10
MS Access backend databases (not updated)
SQL2014 databases
http and https site access
On the new system we are looking to add Plesk12 to give users easier management of their own websites.I am about to install the trail version of Plesk12 WebHOST.I have the following questions:
1. Can we use the plesk migration tool to move the websites from the old IIS6 to the new IIS8.5 server?
2. If not, am I right to think we would migrate from IIS6 to IIS8.5 manually and then import these websites into Plesk12 from the new server?
3. Can I migrate the existing websites piecemeal over onto the new server and into the Plesk control panel at the same time as creating brand new websites under the control panel?
4. Once Plesk is installed on the new IIS server is there a KB article on how to add all these existing websites to Plesk - I could not find one.
5. Is the local windows administrator account used for the install used to run any services?
I have two domains as virtual hosts on same IP address.
I am getting certificate error for the second domain when I try to check email (using MS Outlook). I can't permanently "accept" certificate, it complains again and again. Certuficate I created and self signed for imap.domain1.com, but the second email server is imap.domain2.com, so it complains.
How do I set separate email certificates for two domains? Is it possible at all?

Depending on where u are at on my site (documents pages, training, main root, etc.) will depend on which type of background, footer, header and the like you'll get. Now I was thinking. Is there a way to have multiple error messages for more then one page depending on where you are at on a site? Right now it's intranet site and a modded snitz forum. What is the code and were does it go and in which apache conf file(s) does it go in?

One of my business's invlolves Free web hosting.
And and I have been using one server for the free web hosting clients.
The problem is that sigle server is Maxed out I cannot add any more accounts to it withought jeperdising its stability.

So now that you know a little background on what im doing heres the question
We use Client Exec as our billing and Auto Account Creation and we know its possible to Add multiple server to Client Exec and we can tell it to creat new accounts on anouther server But what hapends when someone wants a subdomain?
Its my understanding that subdomains can only reside on the server that the actual domain is being hosted. Is this right ? or is there a way to creat subdomains of a .com on anouther server where is not located...
Also i was wondering if it was possible to join servers together in one whm?
So under Ip Adresses we could just specify a new Ip & server would this work ?
I really need help fast since i get an average of 90 sighnups a day. and im sorry if theres a simple solution to this.. Im just new to actually owning my own hardware instead of using someone elses.
to me it just doesnt make any sence and i know it needs to be possible somehow ..
I have an exchange server with the webmin interface activated. I have port 80 forwarded on the router to this server for the webmin. Management wants to upgrade data service and move website server in-house.
So this is how I'll need to set up 2 websites on two servers for the same IP.
Server 1: Windows. accepts domain mail.domain.com
Server 2: Linux. accepts www.domain.com
I'm figuring I'll need to make changes at the router level, and I have a decent cisco router. What do I need to do? Point me in the right direction for googling.
Would it be easier to use 2 IPs? Both would come over the same line, how would I handle that on the router level?
What is the best and cost effective way to setup multiple web servers to talk to 1 data base server?
Hardware Load Balancing or software?
