Dedicated Server For Large Scale Legitimate Email Marketing

my main client wants to rehash his database. Now this is a 1.5m strong list. All legitimately collected with time/IP stamp, privacy policy, etc. These clients are from the online gambling industry (legally licensed).
The problem is many of these users subscribed to our services up to 4 years ago (not all are that old, but some are), and they haven't heard from us for up to 2 years (again, some heard from us more recently).
Anyway, I've never deal with that number of emails and potential bounces. Obviously, the first round of emailing will have a large number of bounces, but that will quickly subside.
So, can you guys point me to a quality dedicated server, with at least 4 IPs (hopefully 10) and that can handle this type of activy? I'll be glad to sign up under an affiliate link if I can get a good answer.
I currently manage over 1 million optin subscribers in outsourced email marketing solutions such as aweber or getresponse.
I'm looking to grow to a dedicated server solution, but I know is not as easy as just put the server and the software and just send the emails.
I know there are HUGE issues with the ISPs, complaint rates, bounces, deliverability, etc...
I'm looking if there is any company that specialized in providing management or any kind of solution to mantain a dedicated server for just sending emails (not spam) and solve all the issues to have a smooth email marketing server.
We are custom web development company and have created a email marketing software similar to constantcontact.com .. We need a dedicated server to host this application that will allow us to send mass emails for our clients. I have figured out that not every hosting company allow that..
Client has a nice website with a "contact us" online form. The form itself is secure (no injection attacks etc) and simply collects some data from the site-user, and emails that data to the site owners email address.
This email is sent using php "FROM" the siteusers email address (eg: random@gmail.com etc), so that when it arrives with the site owner, they can simply hit reply etc.
However - the site owners email is protected by "FrontBridge" (aka Microsoft), and suddenly they stop receiving such form-mail.
Response from FrontBridge is "If the IP that is sending these emails does not have the domain names that it is sending on behalf of registered to it, it can not send to our domain as it will be picked up and flagged as spam. " They then indicate that too much of this so called "spam" will result in a blacklisting - which is what seems to have now happenned.
Pretty unfair I'd have thought, and probably how MOST web based form2email scripts are setup.
I was wondering if VPS would be able to handle my double opt-in email marketing website?
If yes then what would be cheapest cost i.e provider that some of you would recommend based on previous experience and the best configuration that I need to go with?
I am looking at sending about 10,000 emails per hour with the list size about 50,000 emails.
I am not to keen with going dedicated due to not being tech savy to manage a full dedi server.

My company wants to install an email marketing software that all our clients can use.
Unfortunately our own servers are windows based and do not support php and mysql which are needed for the email system. I would like some recommendations on good hosts where we can host the system and also allow a high volume of email to be sent every now and then by our clients who would be using the system.
how other people with large subscribers’ database (over 500K subscribers) manage their e-mail marketing needs.
We do have a number of different everyday newsletters and occasionally send surveys to customers (once in a couple of months). I do like the functionality and features that different e-mail marketing providers offer with their packages like Constant Contact, Icontact, etc.
However, considering the number of subscribers their services cost too high in our situation. Maybe there is a standalone software product which we can license and install to our servers and manage in house instead of buying a hosted application?

I have a Windows hosting for our business and send a newsletter twice a week to almost 10,000 subscribers through the hosting mail server.
I'd like to move to google apps so we can use the gmail interface. The problem is that I see Google apps has some limitations for sending mails (500 per user per day if I understood right, no matter if it's free or premier account).
Does anyone send a newsletter through Google apps? What can I do?
I have found SL can offer you 12*1 TB drive based systems, after RAID-5 and Win 2003 install you get just over 10 TB of storage. The monthly price works out to $1000/Month.

I have a website which has about 20K users, and now I am using VPS plan at LunarPages.
However, I have encountered a trouble of out-of-memory. Although I have configured my Apache and MySQL carefully, the 512M memory is not enough. Therefore, the users' expirence is not good these days because my site is very unstable.
I contacted Lunarpages, asking them whether I can upgrade my VPS to bigger RAM, but they said the ONLY way to get a RAM bigger than 512M is to upgrade to dedicated hosting plan.
The following are some stats of my website:
Total Members: 20k Online at the same time: max 600, average 300
The Lunarpages VPS plan: www[dot]lunarpages[dot]com/virtual-private-server/ disk space: 20G RAM: 512M price: $42 / mo
Now I am not sure whether to migrate to didicated hosting plan, because currently, the main problem is just the size of RAM. Other resources e.g (CPU, network etc. ) are not my bottleneck. So I think it seems not worthwhile for me to migrate to the dedicated hosting plan with a doubled price (even more, almost 3x if I need 1G RAM), just for a larger size of RAM.
Can you guys give some suggestions to choose a VPS provider for my site? The factors taken into my consideration include:
* RAM size: at least (1G for peak, 768M garantee). The bigger, the better. Nice if can choose larger size when needed. * price * bandwidth: 1T/mon? * easy to upgrade to dedicated host: just in case that one day I will have to use dedicated. * whether there are coupons for a lower price.
I ever seen a large mailbox be reliable, but now I have one that's mine and I have 8000 messages and 1.2gb. I can't even log into Horde webmail, if I use NeoMail its very slow, it takes 1 or 2 minutes to delete 100 messages or empty the trash. So I tried to setup the email account in Thunderbird and it times out. When I use POP3 thunderbird says it timed out but on the server I can still see the CPOP process for that user and it says it authenticating, if I try again to access it it says the mailbox lock is on, if I remove the lock same thing, no way to access it.
So any advise on how to access this large mailbox, perhaps there is a way to increase the timeouts?
Also whenever I try to do anything with the mailbox it increases the server load, from .20 or so it goes to 1, 2 even 3+
I have a server at RackSpace and they say that if a domain that I am hosting sends out spam emails then ALL the accounts/domains on the server will be blacklisted.
We just moved our website to a dedciated server and everything is up and running fine. We also send out about 5,000 emails on a monthly basis and the list continues to grow. We currently have one IP Address for our website and want to have a mail server also. We would just send the emails from our new server, but are affraid to use the same IP address because we read about people getting their IP blacklisted. We don't spam, these are all people who have requested our emails, but you never know and would rather be safe than sorry. If we want to create a dedciated mail server, do we just get a new IP address and use the same server or do we have to go with a completly new server? What programs are best for this type of email?

I have a customer who needs to move her existing hosting to another provider. The one thing she likes about the existing provider, however, is an allowance of Email attachments of 50-75MB in size. Most limit you to 10-20MB. Does anyone know of a hosting provider that would accomodate this?

I was looking into a VPS with 1and1.com Seemed to have good stats, and is a fairly large company. The plans were nice, was going to start off on their VPS 2 package with 20GB/2000GB, 245MB ram burstable to 512MB. All was well, since their packages seemed to offer the most for the least, if you know what I mean. I also liked the ability to upgrade the package without interrupting my service.
I read some posts here, and looked into a VPS even more, and now Im not so sure about 1and1.com or the thought of even having a VPS.
I have no experience with a VPS. So running it would be all new. Im not computer illiterate and I have taken many network and network operating classes. So I have some experience with command line linux. I have messed with some IIS, and a LAMP. On the other side, it scares me that I could f**k something up and bring down the site.
Now, for my needs. The site when launched has a predicted demand of a few thousand users over the course of a month. This is a business site, so downtime, and a shared environment don't seem to make sense. The site is very mysql intensive, at least by my standards. Most pages have 3-6 queries, main pages can have 10+, and most user actions include a few queries. The most load I could fathom would be all 1,000-4,000 users hitting the site hard for 3-4 days. This is now, next 'season' could be twice that load. In between seasons seasons we were going back to shared until the site starts making more money, and we fill in the off season with some other money making service.
The reason why I thought VPS was budget, and just we wouldnt want to be on a shared hosting plan, and somehow our demand was larger than expected and they shut down the site. So do yall think that a VPS is the right way to go? We have the budget to go VPS($40-$80) a month for 3 months, before going back to shared.
About 1and1.com: I read a few threads, some recent, that seem to say they oversell even a VPS. This doesnt make much sense since its supposed to gaurente those resources to me. The company is so big, but even these few posts and accusations are keeping me from commiting. My main concern is that between when we launch it and when our first spike of demand hits is only 2 months, so I dont want to learn that 1and1.com sucks firsthand.
Ive seen other hosts that this forum sponsers, so I assume there is *some* prefernce to use them, but like jaguarpc.com VPS plans seem to be a little more $ for a little less (storage and bandwidth) when comparing to other deals.

a) In terms on CPU, do i need require P4, Xeon or 4Core Xeon?
b) In terms on RAM, will i need 1, 2, 4, or more Gb?
c) In terms on Hard Drive, i will be just fine using SATA or do i need faster, like SAS, 10k Raptor?
We are a small ISP with about 5000 users. Only a very small percentage of our users can send email to Yahoo, and even that is sporadic.
Hundreds of our users' legitimate emails are rejected daily with the following message: 421 Message from (208.66.56.9) temporarily deferred - 4.16.50. Please refer to help.yahoo.com/help/us/mail/defer/defer-06.html

But I never received a response from Yahoo and they continue rejecting our users' legitimate emails.
After reading many forums and blogs, it appears that they are doing the same thing to many other small ISPs and companies with their own email servers.
This practice can interrupt many legitimate business communications and hurts many small businesses.
We are consolidating several of our servers (6-8) into one location. Collectively, they'll probably use about 15-20 Mbps. We'd like to keep all of our VoIP traffic on premium bandwidth, but the rest of the servers (web, mail, etc) on something like Cogent.
My question is this: Is there anyway to keep it all on one switch/router but be able to specify certain IPs or MAC addresses to use a specific provider? Is BGP the only option? It would be nice to be able to have that level of control. If BGP is the only way, it doesn't yet seem realistic on this scale.
I'm proably being completely overzealous, and should just stick with two Layer 2 switches (one for each provider) and put each machine on one or the other, then setup a seperate VLAN for them to talk to each other. However, we'll probably be hosting servers for customers in the near future so having a router wouldn't hurt, we could use the traffic shaping, QoS, etc. in the long run.
I use GoDaddy for my shared host and it limits me to 999 emails a day through my server mailhost and I use interspire email marketing to send emails to my clients and other opt-in leads (I am 100% spam compliant) but I can't seem to get around the 999 a day. I am forced to use a program I had to get to send the rest (I send 10,000 a day) and the program uses my isp's direct send but the thing is I want to use Interspire as it automatically unsubscribes and keeps statistics...
Hello all....I use an email blasting software for my clients and newsletter and this is what happened: I was at my mother's house and accidentally used the wrong server (I do my marketing on a diff. smtp server) and after I did that when I sent emails to my mother's email address (with the isp she is with) she would not receive my emails.
I called my domain's company and they said there was no problem on their end as I did tests and my emails went through. I called my mom's isp service and they said there was nothing wrong but to email this email address for "blocked" accounts and they never responded but the weird thing is when I send my mother email's, they go through if I send it from the "online backend" of godaddy rather through my MS Outlook.
To make things worse...I have a client who uses TimeWarner and he doesn't get my emails now either! Again...it works if I log-in on the backend but not through my outlook. Is there a port being blocked? I appreciate the responses as I don't know what to do and I need my main email address to send to clients.

Recently I changed server providers, so now I'm looking for a way to transfer all the data to my new server. I have a total of 420GBs of files in my secondary HDD that need to be transferred.
The old server is at a 10Mbps line, the new one is at a 100Mbps one. From old server, less than half the pipe is being actively used. So theoretically, I should be able to transfer it all in about a week.
I tried 1) SCP. That was waaay too unreliable. And I couldn't get it to restart from the point left on whenever the transfer stopped (like when the servers were restarted).
2) Transfer using a web script. Way too slow, got to about 35GBs, total would take like 2 months.
Is there any other, reliable way of transferring data from server to server?
In reference to my previous post, i want to tranfer accross 7GB of data, approximatly 80,000 files i believe it is (due to a gallery script).
It's currently on another host (on a webhosting account) which uses their own control panel which has no options but to manage databases, the only way i can see to do this is via FTP but it'll take me days. I've tried using compressing and backup scripts, but the damn execution time on the hosts server is too low to allow the files to be zipped. Are there any ways? Can i login to my VPS via SSH and anyhow pull off the files from the other hosts server?
I'am looking for a dedicated server located in USA and Canada (one in US and one in Canada) with unlimited or large (5-10TB) bandwidth on 100mbit port ....
