CPanel Stopped Working In Vista
Yesterday I could reach all of my cPanels on a Vista laptop; today they all time out. I can reach them with other computers. It doesn't matter if I go to mysite.com/cpanel or mysite.com:2082. I even added a port 2082 under Windows Firewall; no change. I'm not using any 3rd party firewalls. I did install a bittorrent client last night, then uninstalled it when it didn't work.

SMTP Connection Has Stopped Working
I have been having great trouble sending mails from my local Thunderbird/Windows client to my Debian/Exim-server via TLS/SMTP. I am no expert on TLS and SMTP, but I managed to create a server certificate and set up a secure (TLS) connection more than a year ago, and it has been working fine until it suddenly stopped working a couple of weeks ago. Sending to external addresses from web pages still works fine, the problem seems to be in the SMTP connection. If I try to "telnet xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx 25" I get no reply whatsoever (it seems to connect but it just gives me a blank screen with a blinking cursor) and I am wondering if there is a firewall issue or if I am simply not running the right daemon to listening for incoming SMTP connections... POP continues to work fine with teapop/stunnel enabled. I am running Exim 4.63-17 on Debian Etch. I configured Exim to be of the type "internet site; mail is sent and received directly using SMTP" ============================== Firewall shouldn't be a problem (?): debian:~# iptables -L Chain INPUT (policy ACCEPT) target prot opt source destination Chain FORWARD (policy ACCEPT) target prot opt source destination Chain OUTPUT (policy ACCEPT) target prot opt source destination ============================== I really don't know what to do. Email Stopped Working On Server
Recently I noticed that I was not getting any email on my server. Server is running CentOS When I send email to myself I am not getting anything and then it bounces back several days later saying the server is not responding. When I check on Dnsstuff.com I get the following: Trying to connect to all mailservers: mail.webzila.com. - 216.32.77.68 [Could not connect: Could not receive data: Operation timed out.] [Note that if your mailserver takes over 30 seconds to respond, our test will timeout, even though real mailservers will wait longer] I tried turning mail services OFF and then ON again in Plesk but that didnt help.

Remote Desktop Suddenly Stopped Working
I have a server that I access through remote desktop. Suddenly I am getting the message "Remote Desktop Disconnected: The computer can't connect to the remote computer." when using Remote Desktop. It was working a few minutes ago. A while ago I suspected that someone knew the password for the box. I did change it at the time, and thought the issue was solved. Is it possible to turn off remote desktop remotely (whilst using remote desktop). Power cycling the server isn't making any difference. Any other options other than putting in a support request at the host?

Cpanel Not Working... Need To Backup
As a background: They had uptime problems, which have since been resolved, however now they seem to have let their cpanel license lapse. Neither I, nor my clients (nor anyone else on the server, according to their forums), can log into CPanel or WHM, getting the error "Cannot read license file." In the beginning they kept saying it would be fixed in 24 hours. 3 weeks later, still waiting. At any rate, our biggest issue right now is that cpanel has not been working since the first week in July. I make weekly full backups, sent via ftp to a remote server, of all my client sites with a cronjob. Since cpanel has been offline, I haven't had a backup since July 1. I'm doing a straight FTP of all the sites' data individually to my hard drive as I'm not sure what else to do to back up their stuff. I guess my question is: If I have to resort to finding a new host (which, if this doesn't get resolved soon, I'll have to), will these straight FTP backups be enough to restore the sites, including mysql data, email accounts, cgi sections, .htaccess/.htpasswd files, etc? What about WHM data for my reseller account? My assumption is that this will be a lot more work, but hoping it's not my only option.

Cpanel And Mail Not Working
I set up a new account the other day and everything was set up as normal. My client cannot recieve their emails through outlook express and I cannot open their cpanel thrugh their url. I know I set everything up correct, and even deleted the account and created it again. I am lost on this one, this has never happen to me before.

Web Protect Not Working In Cpanel
I have protected one folder on my domain from Cpanel using function "web protect" also its asking for password but the password is not working. I did checked the .htpasswd file in users home directory and it have the user created for protection.

CPanel- Accounts Transferred, Email Not Working
I tranferred all my accounts from my old cpanel server to my new one, Updated the DNS records with my registrar to the new ips, unfortunately e-mail is not working, i used the trouble shooter and seems to trying to relay or something my mail to the old IP. I keep getting this error when trying to send to an account IPdoes not like recipient. Remote host said: [IP DOMAIN] is currently not 550-permitted to relay through this server. Perhaps you have not logged into 550-the pop/imap server in the last 30 minutes or do not have SMTP 550 Authentication turned on in your email client. Giving up on [IP].

HTTPS Not Working - Cpanel Based Site
Today, I've purchased a RapidSSL Certificate for my site with Cpanel and https:// access did not work. What I did was :- 1) Generate a Private Key 2) Create a CSR Request Certificate 3) Submit that and installed the Certificate in WHM for the site. The site is running on a dedicated IP and it works as http:// but not with the https:// . I checked and Cpanel did include the SSL directive for the site in httpd.conf and have rebooted the server and restarted httpd but to no avail. I also had OpenSSL 0.9.8.3a installed and update WHM. The Apache 1.x was installed with OpenSSL Support too. Is there a SSL Server or something which may not be active ?

CPanel/WHM Server - Email Not Working
Just got a new server online this week from VolumeDrive, and everything has been going just fine with my initial setup. I transferred over 7 domains from another cPanel/WHM machine and the transfer feature worked flawlessly. Since I use Gmail for most of my communication, I haven't even had any email accounts setup on any of my domains in quite sometime. So knowing that I need a few setup for various correspondence, I went ahead and set one up tonight. I've setup and used mailboxes on cPanel machines before, and it's not exactly rocket science... pretty easy stuff. But what's weird here is that when I attempt to click on the "Webmail" icon from directly within cPanel, the Horde login fails over and over again. Then, if I setup the account in Thunderbird or Outlook using the CORRECT account information (username@domain.com as the login -- and the appropriate password/server settings), the client login fails also. To add to this weird behavior, I sent myself an email at the newly setup address with a 2mb attachment. Obviously I can't login to the account to see if the mail arrived, but at least it didn't bounce. However, when I'm in cPanel under this domain and go to "Email Accounts", I'm showing "0 Bytes" for usage under the account where i know there should be at least 2mb worth of usage.

Nsplayer Must Be Stopped
i have been around the internets trying to figure out how to stop this menacing problem and i really have come to just a lot of dead ends. my issue is that i want to block people using something called nsplayer from ravaging my bandwidth. every day there are at least 300 or so entries from people using this piece of software which is causing me to blow through about 20 gigs a day instead of around 5-7 gigs. the fine support folks at imountain went out of their way and wrote a htaccess script but alas that isnt helping that much. so, what i have been doing is just banning each individual ip through htaccess and sometimes it works and sometimes it doesnt. my site is in my profile. is there anyway to block this completely? here is an example of one of my log entries. 79-65-96-136.dynamic.dsl.as9105.com - - [23/Sep/2007:19:33:06 -0700] "GET /debaser/vol.%204/14%20Wish%20You%20Were%20Here.mp3 HTTP/1.1" 200 803868 "-" "NSPlayer/11.00.6000.6324 WMFSDK/11.00.6000.6324" i dont know if it matters, but i am using h-sphere and indexing is turned off.

IIS Just Stopped Serving..
I have been hosting a site for the past number of weeks on IIS on Server 2003..I have a no-ip a/c which is working fine along with port forwarding on my router.. The other day I restarted my server for something but now I cant seem to access my site from across the internet and according down for everyone or just me (website) it is down. I can, however, access the site using domain name from within my lan. I'm not too hot on server 2003 or IIS. What can I do to debug/diagnose the problem?

Munin Stopped Reporting Eth0 After Reboot
I rebooted my server and now munin is not showing any eth0 traffic. All other graphs are fine. I can see there is a ton of apache accesses so there is definitely eth0 traffic. Munin logs report no errors. I restarted munin and munin-node. I even did 'yum remove munin munin-node' and reinstalled again but it still doesn't work for eth0.

Client Stopped Connection Before Send Mmap
I've got a one month stable setup running a cpanel + apache 1.3.x and suddenly starting yesterday i get these errors from time to time in the log from various IPs: (104) Connection reset by peer: client stopped connection before send mmap completed (32) Broken pipe: client stopped connection before send mmap completed send mmap timed out Googling shows people guessing at everything from mysql errors to the visitor clicking a link on a partially showing page before it's completed. Anyone with more clear insight? Mysql shows no apparent errors. Site is a heavily loaded wordpress setup with mod_gzip the only major addition to apache. Also running a firewall for a week now. Errors did not show up until yesterday.

Mailbox Allowance? My Incoming Emails Have Stopped Coming In
But with my current host, my incoming e-mails have stopped and have done quite a lot of times, If I send an e-mail to myself from another acount, it gets bounced back. When I'm searching for hosts, I can't see any info on mailbox allowance. I'm using Outlook to download all my e-mails. I don't know why they are stopping and I can't find out from the person who got the host from me, in the past he said something about me having to delete e-mails. But this would come back to mailbox space which no hosts seem to advertise, unless it goes under webs space. If my mailbox is full or ran out of space, does anybody have any recommendations for a host that offers a good amount of mailbox space. Another question, am I limited to the amount of e-mails I can send with some hosts? I'll be sending out Newsletters to 600+ people each month.

Unusual Request - XP Or Vista VPS
I have an somewhat unusual requirement. I need a hosted Vista or XP desktop somewhere. This is not to host a server application. The reason I need it is that I need to give my staff access to an application that only runs on an XP or vista desktop environment, and I dont want the software in question installed on their pc, instead they will log on via remote desktop and use it that way. The application does *not* run on Win Server 2003. I have looked high and low, but all the Windows VPS services on the market seem to be hosting Win Server 2003 exclusively, which is no use to me. Does anyone out there know if it is possible to get hosted XP or Vista anywhere? I am aware that there are a couple of providers who will host a vmware vm for you but even they seem to be oriented towards Win Server, which is no use to me.

Vista + Outlook 2003 = SPAM
I have a customer that relies heavily on her email (sends/receives about 200 emails each day). Last Friday we traded her Windows XP computer for a new Windows Vista system. Now since that time one of her main contacts is unable to receive any emails. She is able to receive messages from that contact but the replies are not received by the customer. I talked with the technical support group on the receiving end and they tracked it back and said that the emails are sitting in their spam filter. What change(s) were made that changed this trusted email account to a spam account just by upgrading to Vista? I ran the DNS Tools Spam tool and the domain and IP address is not listed in any database. The only thing that showed was something about the PTR not found in the domain record. Is this something that is required?

Windows 2003 SBS And Vista Gotchas
Well, my company got a Windows 2003 Small Business Server and most of our workstations were running Windows Vista. Now I ran into some issues I thought I'd document for the benefit of those attempting connections of Vista Business and up workstations to a Windows 2003 Small Business Server: Windows 2003 Small Business Server Vista and Outlook 2007 Compatibility Upgrade Before you throwing your Vista clients at your Windows 2003 Small Business Server, you're going to need to make sure you have the Windows Vista and Outlook 2007 compatibility update as outlined by KB926505, the knowledge base entry on Vista and Windows 2003 SBS. This will require a restart of the server to fully apply the effects of the patch. Updating workstations with existing users Now, you add your users through the Server Management tool, and it tells you to run [url]on the client workstation to setup the process. Before you do this, you need to separate out your systems with existing users (and thus profiles) and your systems with no established users. For the ones that have existing users, you'll need to install a Win32_UserProfile WMI patch. If you don't apply this patch, then you can't migrate your local PC user settings to the Windows 2003 SBS associated user when you run the setup (Unless you install the patch, then re-run the wizard). Running the connection wizard Okay, so let's say your server is named SBS2003, now you point your client workstation to [url]and you'll be asked for the username and password of an existing user on the Windows 2003 SBS. Enter it in and 2 things can happen: Runs without a hitch You get an error about copying Client Setup files Now here's the painful one. There's a number of ways to approach this issue, so be sure to go through them all: Point your DNS servers to the Windows 2003 SBS and ONLY the Windows 2003 SBS. This solved my particular issue. You may have an issue with required encryption in IIS. See this post for a possible solution. You may have an issue with TCP offload. Check this post for more information. Basically you need to disable it. IIS is bound to a specific IP. Try changing it to "All Unassigned" instead. Now then, the wizard should run, and your workstation should now be latched onto the domain Not quite done yet though. Network Discovery I found my workstations couldn't see network machines after I attached them to the network. Trying to turn on Network Discovery in the Network Sharing Center seemed to fail. To rectify this, I took 2 steps: Enabled Link Layer Topology Discovery (LLTD) for the domain to get my network map. You'll also need to make sure LLTD is enabled on your NIC properties as well (in the form of a checked box). I had to turn on Network Discovery and File and Printer Sharing in the Windows Firewall settings. To do this I did: Control Panel Windows Firewall Bring up the exceptions tab Make sure Network Discovery and File and Printer Sharing were enabled Then viola, network thar she blows. Also, I found that when I shared directories on the Windows 2003 SBS and the client had permissions to access the share, it wouldn't showup until I went to the Publish tab in the share's properties on the server and made it published on active directory. After doing that and refreshing my Windows 2003 SBS showed up in the Network.

Set Up IIS Locally On Vista For Testing
I'm moving from my old XP PC to a new PC with Vista (a mistake, but that's a different story). I'm trying to set up some sites in IIS so that I can develop locally without having to publish to a remote web server. I've installed IIS7 from the control panel, and am now looking to set up my first site. I've put the site name in, and the path to the site on the computer, but I'm getting an error in the 'bindings' section. I've left all of this empty because I don't know what it means (it didn't ask for any of this in IIS on XP) but when I try to add the site it gives me the following error: "The binding '*:80:' is assigned to another site. If you assign the same binding to this site, you will only be able to start one of the sites. Are you sure that you want to add this duplicate binding?" Does anyone know what to do here? I'll need to add about 100 domains to IIS so I want them all to be accessible locally. How do I do this?

Continue to this website (not recommended). i guess at that initial point, most people will bail. but if they are brave enough to forge ahead, they then get this: This error occurs when the certificate has been issued by a certification authority that is not recognized by Internet Explorer. It is unlikely that this error will occur on a legitimate business or banking site. Phishing sites often attempt to use fake certificates that will trigger this error. and of course, there is no lock icon at the bottom of the page. there is not even a way for me to install the certificate. this seems libelous to me.

ErrorMessage When Trying To Activate IIS7 In Vista Ultimate 64-bit
When I try to activate IIS7 in Windows Vista Ultimate 64-bit everything seems to go well but after a while when the progress bar has gone full and that window has disappeared an error message appears saying "An error has occured. Not all features were successfully changed". If I don't restart immediately but instead try to open the IIS7 default page it's up. But after rebooting it's gone. Looking For Backup Solution For Windows XP/Vista Platform Client
I'd like to ask for opinion what is the best way to backup a client PC in Windows XP/Vista platform. For example, each PC has a folder inside c:Server Every 17:00 hours, the PC will FTP all data inside c:Server to backup server. When it is done, the manager is able to access to his files & do his work remotely online via the server at night in his home. Another reason to have this backup is because they want to secure all the files from any viruses or any accidents in the office during non office hours as the files is important to them. The next morning, he is able to continue his work as normal when files are being merged. Any kind of such solution available?

Windows Vista, Passive FTP, Linksys Routers
My roommate ran into this problem a few weeks ago. He could not connect to a webserver. Turns out it is the way that some of the ports are being handled when passive FTP is used. I was wondering if a lot of web hosting companies are seeing some complaints of (passive) FTP not working properly? And who are you blaming? He had to install some firmware updates to the Linksys router as well but then that started to crash the Internet connection (something we cannot have). So the router update was uninstalled. He had to do quite a bit and finally started to use the control panel to upload. He has not tried FileZilla yet but I tried it on my system to connect to his server and it failed.

SSL Not Working
I've been working on a script which requires SSL, and in doing so, I've realised that my SSL is playing up for all domains on my server. I receive the error message: "An error occurred during a connection to www.pxlabs.net.au. SSL received a record that exceeded the maximum permissible length. (Error code: ssl_error_rx_record_too_long)". I am using Apache 2.2 with PHP 5.2.10 along with cPanel/WHM. It used to work, but I assume maybe one of the updates have messed it up? I haven't actually touched anything in the configurations apart from going about the regular updates for cPanel. I had a look in the httpd.conf, and I can't see any entries for virtual hosts on port 443.
