WIXED.COM 24/7/365 Support

Aug 22, 2008

I purchased a VPS from them, on thier website they offer 24/7/365 support, but in real life they respond to emails at 1:30am Pacific time, are not available on MSN as they promise and do not refund thier flasely gained funds due to thier FALSE ADVERTISING.

Live Help = offline

Advertising on thier frontpage:

Our Features

* 99.9% Uptime
* cPanel/WHM/WHMReseller/Fantastico
* RVSiteBuilder Pro
* 24/7/365 Support
* Daily Automated backups
* 100MB Uplink
* 14 Day Moneyback Guarantee
In his email which i cannot post due to Copywrite laws he admits 24/7 support is sales staff only, so hw is willing to accept your money, but his Managed servers do NOT offer 24/7/365 support as he clearly says he offers on his website

What Happened To My Wixed.co.uk Vps

Sep 19, 2008

into my second monthof VPS hosting I noticed my server was unavailable which I found was due to a hardware failure, I am then told that some IPs need changing, I've had no access to my sites for ages, no one is answering tickets and the phone number is dead.

Assuming the company has gone under, can I regain anything from paypal as I paid for my hosting through them

Wixed.co.uk Experience

Nov 14, 2008

I renting a dedicated server outside the Netherlands and I'm glad to have good experience the first time.

Sales and support tickets / mails are handled fast usually and server quality is also good.

At first i wanted the cheapest dual core machine with ESX, this didn't workout so they tried it with a more expensive machine ( Amd instead of Intel ) This also didn't work.
So i've decided to use VMware Server on debian.

Due to the delay of the server they gave me the new server and installed everything on it.

Although the supply time of the server took longer then expected they compensated for it more then enough.

Wixed Hosting, Anyone Using Them For Dedi's

Oct 3, 2008

I have been following there posts in the offers section of wht for a few weeks now, I've contacted RN-DAVID a few times about his offers and the response has always been fast and the service sounds good, however i would like to know what everyone else thinks.

I'm looking to order two servers from them with the following specs:

Server 1:
AMD Sempron 3000+
2GB DDR2 RAM
1X 120GB SATA II HDD
1X 160GB SATA II HDD
2 IP Addresses
Windows Server 2003 Std
3TB CAP on a 100Mbps Line
Priced @ £40.95 PM with £20.00 Setup for RAM and Second HDD

This server will just be for my personal use really, I'm planning on backing up some of my personal data to it, photos, documents etc... I'll be using it via remote desktop mainly so doesn't need to be top spec.

The second server is going to be an additional Cpanel Web Server With the following spec's

Intel Core 2 Quad 6600
4GB DDR II RAM
2X 500GB SATA II HDD'S (RAID)
8 IP Addresses
CentOS
CPanel
3TB on 100Mbps Line
Cost £69.95PM + £120 For RAM, HDD & Raid Card Upgrades

Now when it comes to value for money both servers seem fantastic to me, but what I would like to know is does anyone else use them? what are your experiences with them? whats there support like? etc...

Wixed.co.uk - Lack Of Support

Sep 12, 2008

Since a week ago, my VPS with them are more down than up until 3 days ago when it totally dead. Support ticket are never replied, online help never seen Online, FULLY MANAGED is an illusion. He only answer support ticket when I posted it in hosting forum. On 9th Sept, I received email from David - Wixed.co.uk :

Quote:

Dear Clients,

Ealier this afternoon our main VPS node VZ1US suffered from a hard drive failure following notifications received by our SMART monitoring daemon a couple of days ago. We backed up all client VPS's at approximately 8:30PM Last night and moved them to an offsite server. We are currently in the proccess of restoring your backups to a new server we have had deployed.

We sincerely apologise for any inconvinience caused and are working hard to get the backups restored. We are currently in proccess of moving them to the new server. Your VPS will then be created and the backup restored. New login details and IP information will be emailed to you.

At this time we have no official ETA as transfer speeds fluctuate during transfer of the backup files. We will credit your accounts for the downtime caused by this outage.

Once again we apologise for any inconvinience caused and thank you for your patience during this time. We will email you again shortly with an ETA.

How To Detect A VPS And Its Technology In Linux

Is there any way to distinguish a dedicated server from VPS using Linux commands and detect the implemented virtualization technology like XEN and OpenVZ, ...?

I have received a dedicated server and in cPanel its written Virtuozzo but they tell me it's XEN , beside this what's the reason to implement a virtualization technic while they give me a dedicated server? Maybe to obtain cheaper cPanel license,

Promising Future Technology Now

Jun 12, 2008

I sometimes wonder if part of the reason hosting companies "oversell" or promise more than they could deliver if all customers used the resources they were offering is that technology continues to offer more.

For example if they have 500 GB drives on their server now, but know that they will be using 1 TB drives in 6 months, do they go ahead and offer plans as if they already had the 1 TB drives?

Remote Web Folder Mapping Technology - Does It Exist?

Mar 20, 2009

Currently my companies global website “domain.com” is hosted in a shared hosted environment, our own U.S. website “us.domain.com” is hosted at our datacenter.

Here is my question, we have a redesign project. My goal is to lose the “us.domain.com” sub-domain and move our new U.S. site under the "domain.com" domain using a “/us/” folder delineation.

Is it possible with modern web server technology to setup a something like virtual directory/folder, redirect, alias or remote mapping of the “/us/” folder that points to a separate server hosting our U.S. site outside of shared hosting environment for our "domain.com" site, e.g.?

• Domain.com/<global website content/structure > - Hosted at in a shared environment on Web App Server running Coldfusion
• Domain.com/us/<U.S. website content/structure> - Hosted at our datacenter on Web App Server running IBM WebSphere

Unfortunately I cannot merge the two sites together based on the web server technology and lack of budget/resources to accomplish.

Trying To Run A SHOUTcast

May 22, 2009

I bought a VPS a few days ago and I'm trying to run a SHOUTcast on it.

The VPS is Linux, CentOs to be more specific.

I've installed Shoutcast and it's running, It's working with WinAmp as the website I'm running it on tells me what song is currently playing, how many listeners there are, etc.

It also says:

Server Status: Server is currently up and public.

Shoutcast

Feb 7, 2007

I have a windows server 2003 running shoutcast.

I have two questions:

1.) Is there a way to send signals via Windows? I need a way to have shoutcast reload it's configuration file without kicking the users. Normally, on *nix, you could just send the kill -s SIGHUP command and it'd do it. But I can't figure out a way to do this on windows.

If this isn't possible, does anyone know if you can run shoutcast RELIABLY under cygwin?

2.) The LogFormat that shoutcast outputs looks like this:

Code:
c-ip c-dns date time cs-uri-stem c-status cs(User-Agent) sc-bytes x-duration avgbandwidth
the problem is that cs-uri-stem doesn't include cs-method ("GET") so AWStats fails with the import of the log. Is there a way to manually add this into the way AWStats parses it?

If not, is there a special way to parse shoutcast w3c logs in AWStats?

Shoutcast

Jul 30, 2007

weve had a box at fdc for over a year. everything was fine until about half that time ago and consistently has gotten worse over time. We've always been really good at tracking down problems til now.

traceroute and ping results are usually pretty normal, the machine is not overloaded however our server can barely handle any amount of listeners anymore, in fact it appears as tho the number of listeners has no effect on the server skipping and buffering every few minutes.

we've changed the sources its been fed from

checked the connection from multiple locations

ping and trace results are always decent or shouldnt warrant skipping with any number listeners. in a year weve gone from consistently hosting 100+ to barely getting over 20 and often less lately. its a huge bummer.

Shoutcast Server

Oct 12, 2008

Me and a few friends of mine are planing on creating a Shoutcast online radio station and honestly I'm new to how Shoutcast servers work and witch host would be best for me and my friends. I have a few questions on all this.

Am I suck using Winamp to play our music over the server? Or are there other more professional tools to use?

This server will be used among a few friends of mine. So if no one us broadcasting will the server play a song play list till some one starts broadcasting?

Shoutcast servers only Stream music to Winamp players only?

Anyone here got any experience with “rackedhosting.com” Shoutcast service?

My Server And Shoutcast

Sep 13, 2008

i upgraded my server a few month back to a better one.

SINGLE XEON QUAD CORE 3210 / 1066FSB / 8MB CACHE
4GB DDR2
x2 500GB SATA 7200RPM (RAID-1)
50 Mbps Burst Speed

for what ever reason when i try to tune in to my radio it takes more than 10 seconds for the radio to start playing (specially on my port 8000). while other stations (competition) start right away.

my question is does it matter if i have my dns like this: [url]:8000 instead of [url]:8000 or do i have to look for something else not well configure?
