View 10 Replieshi i was planning to buy one server from pacificrack and while googling about pacificrack i found this site

i can get best suggestions here from industry experts
so anyone one here using pacificrack ? are they reliable and good company?
We are looking to expand into Atlanta and need some suggestions from the community. We are just looking to start off with 1-2 servers so we are not exactly looking for a 1/4 CAB yet and we are also looking for a fantastic network.
What do you guys suggest in regards to a data center ? and what ever you suggest can you please list resellers as more often then not you need to have 1/4 CAB + to go directly to the data center (of course sometimes you don't such as Gigenet / Colo4Dallas etc) .
GNAX themselves have been great and they are still working on this problem with us. We are having a problem getting passive ftp to work correctly on all of our servers at this location. We do not have this problem with any of our other data centers using the same server configurations/images/settings and have multiple servers at GNAX all sharing the same problem, which seems to reasonably say there's something at the datacenter itself that's causing this problem. Ftp connections fail when trying to login using the password or fail when trying to enter passive mode. If the connection does not use passive ftp, then it works fine. Passive ftp will work sometimes at this location, but it’s rare and it doesn’t work for long. Has anyone had any similar experience or may know what the problem might be?

View 9 Replies View RelatedI've read quite a few good reviews about ColoCrossing. Most are related to their Chicago datacenter. I was wondering if anyone has experience with their other locations, specifically, San Jose and Atlanta.

View 0 Replies View RelatedWe operate a small point of presence in Atlanta, GA out of the 56 Marietta building. Its a network POP for us, with a few small customers there.
We're interested in finding a company or individual who we can contact to handle remote hands services such as hard drive installs, racking servers, attaching KVMs, nothing major.
Right now we work with TelX. Needless to say, they are extremely overpriced, and under qualified to do the job.
Has anyone else seen issues with Level3 in Atlanta and Dallas?
I've been having problems with them all week long.
Aspnix.com has offered Virtualization Technology on their dedicated servers - do you know what it means?
View 2 Replies View RelatedI have done business with CPC Technologies for 4 years now. I have dedicated and colocated servers with 10Mb and 15Mb connections. The prices are pretty inexpensive, the speeds are as advertised and the service is fast. It's all that I need in a provider. They might have something good for you too. Check them out at cpctechnology.com.

View 4 Replies View RelatedI have tried to search but couldn't find the information I was looking for. We are starting to offer VPS and considering MS Virtual Server and vmWare. vmWare seems rock solid and feature rich. Which virtualization technology you are using? Is vmWare a good platform for vps for hosting industry?
View 3 Replies View RelatedIs there any way to distinguish a dedicated server from VPS using Linux commands and detect the implemented virtualization technology like XEN and OpenVZ, ...?
I have received a dedicated server and in cPanel its written Virtuozzo but they tell me it's XEN , beside this what's the reason to implement a virtualization technic while they give me a dedicated server? Maybe to obtain cheaper cPanel license,
Having some issues with the shoutcast plan I ordered yesterday as well, the wixed site seems to have gone down for a while this morning as well. I hope this is resolved soon.
View 12 Replies View RelatedI sometimes wonder if part of the reason hosting companies "oversell" or promise more than they could deliver if all customers used the resources they were offering is that technology continues to offer more.
For example if they have 500 GB drives on their server now, but know that they will be using 1 TB drives in 6 months, do they go ahead and offer plans as if they already had the 1 TB drives?
Any one ever hear of or use Waveform Technology? They are 30 minutes from my house, I could just drive the server over to them.

Currently my companies global website “domain.com” is hosted in a shared hosted environment, our own U.S. website “us.domain.com” is hosted at our datacenter.
Here is my question, we have a redesign project. My goal is to lose the “us.domain.com” sub-domain and move our new U.S. site under the "domain.com" domain using a “/us/” folder delineation.
Is it possible with modern web server technology to setup a something like virtual directory/folder, redirect, alias or remote mapping of the “/us/” folder that points to a separate server hosting our U.S. site outside of shared hosting environment for our "domain.com" site, e.g.?
• Domain.com/<global website content/structure > - Hosted at in a shared environment on Web App Server running Coldfusion
• Domain.com/us/<U.S. website content/structure> - Hosted at our datacenter on Web App Server running IBM WebSphere
Unfortunately I cannot merge the two sites together based on the web server technology and lack of budget/resources to accomplish.
Any one know of a place offering dedicated servers with VT Technology enabled?
Any one know of a place offering dedicated servers with VT Technology enabled in the bios (and cpu that supports VT), so I can create Xen VPS's on it?
What is the transit quality of AT&T, in general?
As in compared to its rivals SVVS, LVLT, Sprint, GBLX. etc.
I'd like to ask for some help in choosing a webhost. I want to host a website that will be a sales database. It will use a MySQL database and PHP. I will not need large amounts of disc space (I can't estimate exactly but probably less than 10GB) and relatively low amounts of bandwidth. What's important is a high uptime and security and quality bandwidth. I am very sceptical with all the webhosts offering unlimited services since I know they are overselling. Do you know of any quality webhosts suitable with the above characteristics?
View 14 Replies View RelatedI was wondering, when evaluating a colo facility...obviously the bandwidth quality is important.

Used ThePlanet for ages and well not to impressed with them in the past 6 months. Not reading tickets fully is a big issue or not following instructions. Response times to tickets absolutely unacceptable with some being 3-4 hours others ranging in the days and most requiring calls to get responses. It really seems like they're more focused on their dedicated server market.
So any suggestions on quality providers for people in need of a few cabs and 45mbit or so and want actual decent response times and knowledgeable staff who read tickets fully?
Some applications are of the ping sensitive nature while others are just your normal web, mail, misc services. So things like cisco guards available and friendly with regards to fixing bad routes would be nice.
I've heard people suggest Colo4Dallas but are there any other suggestions?
Other than Dell, where do you guys usually buy your servers from?
View 12 Replies View RelatedAnyone have sites on Apollohosting (shared)?
What can you tell me about their service?
Security of sites - how is it?
Server uptime. And tech response time.
Is spamming about normal or excessive?
Overall are they getting better or worse?
After researching a lot of the webhosts that are more geared towards quality in a shared server, I've narrowed it down to a few different providers. I haven't been able to find much in the way of reviews on Utropicmedia and wanted some input on them. I see they have phone support, not sure if they have a ticket system also. They don't have a forum on their site to check feedback either.
I like the fact that their servers are close to me and the majority of my customers (Detroit). They also seem to be concentrating on quality, so I'd like to find out more about them. Any first hand input would be appreciated.
The short list also includes Medialayer, Precision Effect and Rochen. I want reliability and fast page loads for my customers. Medialayer seems to be about twice the price for equal bandwith and disk space. The others are quite comparable. I'm sure there are several more that would do fine, but I decided to quit looking and choose from this group.
Can anyone recommend any?
View 6 Replies View RelatedI've always heard of clients where their old host suffers from frequent downtimes or their site is always slow, etc kind of problems.
One of the main reason is that lots of people are keen to sign up with host who offers massive amount of disk space and bandwidth at very low prices.
This is actually called "Overselling", as the host will try to limit cpu and ram resource usage. This is normally only written in their Terms Of Service (TOS).
As such, I would like to conduct a poll on "Quality VS Quantity - Which do you choose?" to understand the mentality of consumers today.
We've browsed/searched a lot these last years and I believe fdcservers has the best bandwidth deal, with stability and a good service.
We've been searching the last days and found some other companies (ex 10TB.com). Are there any other companies that would offer something as 'good' as fdc regarding bandwidth?
10TB says they use softlayer's DC but it seems they don't use their network (got that information on a chat with SL's sales) so in my opinion there is no benefits to be on SL's DC if we don't use their network which is really good/stable. We've found that 10tb.com is a new company and their site has 404 and incorrect contact e-mails address which made we 'quit' the signup process.. (and because it is hard to 'trust' a new company with lot of bandwidth - and errors on their website - when there are others on the market for a long time that couldn't offer it).
What do you think about 10tb.com? Other options? What about fdc? Is it worth going with them to host streaming ? We need as much bandwidth as possible, but we also need quality.
