Is there a website/tool/software I can use for testing my web server performance?. I need a server based solution because I don't have enough bandwith to run it from my pc.

I am looking for a Windows VPS, preferably inexpensive, but the primary goal is to have a fast pipe to it and be capable of running the WAPT windows load testing tool [url]
I currently have a Zone VPS, and have looked using http_load, or siege from it, but they don't appear to be anywhere near as full featured ad WAPT.
I need to run the tests against both a corportate website to see what our current capacity is, and want to make sure I am not bandwidth limited, as would be the case if I was testing via a T1 or DSL connection, hence the reason for wanting a Windows VPS on a thick pipe that I can run the tests on.

regarding the server configuration and my application design I would like to do some stress tests that show me the number of requests the server can handle on my website.
I have tried JMeter but I can't find how to get such a statistic.

I was having issues with what I would like to think as power.
Now, I was wondering if there are any SQL database benchmarks, or something else I can run on the system for a given period of time, that will let me see if I'm still having those power issues.

I have several servers and I need a tool to measure CPU/disk/memory performance.
I no nothing about hardware (and I also don't want/need to know).
The tools is to compare only - I don't care about the measure unit, I just need a way to compare the performance between my servers like which one as a faster CPU and so on...
Anyone knows such a FREEWARE (and not bloatware) tool?
If the tool has some kind of hardware report... well.. even better.

I'm trying to find a tool that will thrash a site to the break point and report where that is. This is for testing sites before they go online so that they don't go online and then drop offline because they can't handle the load.

I am currently hosting my website on one server with the specs:
2.8ghz Dual Quad-Core processor + 8 gigs of ram + two 500 hard drives with a 50 mbps unmetered bandwidth package.
My current problem lies in high server loads and very slow server performance throughout the day.
I am considering migrating over to The Planet onto server with the specs:
3.0ghz Dual Quad-Core + 18 gigs of ram + two 50gb hard drives with 2TB of monthly bandwidth transfer.
In an attempt to have great bandwidth pricing and server performance, I plan on downgrading my current server with my current host to a lowe-end server and keeping it only to host my VIDEO and MUSIC files with the 50mbps unmetered package. The Planet will then host my database and all other web related files on their new server.
Is this a good idea as an attempt to save money in bandwidth costs and eliminating my server lag issues?
I was offered a setup of a separate web and database server at my current host but from what I have read, no one touches the performance and reliability The Planet has to offer.

I have the hatchling plan on HostGator. Is there a PHP and MySQL open-source application where I can put up there to test its performance on running PHP and MySql applications? I want to see if there is any performance issue on this host before migrating a large ZenCart app to it.
What are people's experience on HostGator running PHP and MySQL?

127.0.0.1 - - [11/Oct/2008:01:40:02 -0700] "OPTIONS * HTTP/1.0" 200 -=============================================
And due to this there is load on server. We are not able to understand why this is happening and how to stop this. So please suggest with some solution.

I want to know if there is a set of tools or a linux distro that I can use to create several Virtual Machines and make them use up all their allocated Memory/CPU to the max to see how much the VPS Node will hold.
I do this on Windows easily as I overclock my PC at home. But in linux, no idea. I need something that will do iterations like Prime95 or SuperPI.

I've been playing with hyperVM lately and was wondering what tools all you computer geeks use to stress test your VPSes.
Right now I'm testing out Xen VPSes, Linux AND Windows.
Can some people recommend some tools to stress test reliability of the VPSes on both linux and windows?
Windows seems a little flaky to me on Xen unless I'm doing something wrong.
Stress tests based on a hosting environment would be perfect.

Was wondering if anyone has any knowledge of stress testing a site? We have a PHP application (Apache + Mysql) that searches a database and displays a screen of results.
Each screen is different per user. We might have something like a few thousand people at any one time coming to the site and using it, so I was wondering how people normally go about testing for load, cpu, memory usage etc?

Which free server admin tool do you prefer? As far as I can tell Webmin and DirectAdmin are the major players (correct me if I am wrong). I am the only one with access, so their is no need for other accounts or hosting sites from others.

I'd like to know what process is killing the server, is there a script I can install on it so I have a better clue of what's going on?

I was just curious as to whether anyone has ever came across a situation where your monthly bandwidth/transfer quota is being consumed at an exponential rate without any increase of traffic to the site?
My current situation is this.
I have an account 2mhost and a monthly bandwidth transfer quota of 100,000 MB. For the past few months it's been steadily growing. When I first transfered the site to this host their cheapest package quota wasnt sufficient and I ended up with a bandwidth overage error page on my site, so I had to upgrade. In doing so I've always ended the month just shy of 80% total quota.
My problem is that it's only the 17th, and a few days ago i was at about 32%, now im at 51% with no increase of pageviews. Looking into awestats shows the alexandria2.2mhost.com using 30 gigs!! I questioned the tech support via live chat and they said it was wordpress accessing the images. So I downloaded the raw access logs and noticed that Every few seconds the server ip would make a request to a dozen or so images, each image being requested 3 times.
here's a portion of the log: ....

I'm asking if there is a server monitoring tool that has easy install steps for Parallels Plesk 12.0.18 Upd #36 or any guide since my server is running slow and I need to collect some data in order to fix the issue.
I've tried Munin on my own but got this error during install process:
Transaction Check Error:
file /usr/share/man/man3/XML::SAX::Base.3pm.gz conflicts between attempted installs of perl-XML-SAX-0.96-7.el6.noarch and perl-XML-SAX-Base-1.04-1.el6.rf.noarch

I'm running CentOS 6.6.

We are a small development team mostly coding in php/mysql as an unpaid hobby. Anyways yesterday our test server had hardware problems and to get a decent new one would be $300. Well this seems a lot to ask for someone that does get any compensation for it. So we are looking for some cheap way of providing a test server. We need at least a way that provides svn, apache w/ php and mysql. We tried to use the webserver, but the head dev didnt like the idea. Any suggestions?
The three devs are in charge of wcreplays.com .

I am using dreamhost host 3 of my web sites and 1 blog. Dreamhost is great, offers alot space and bandwidth.
but I think they are oversellling their space, sometimes it gets really slow. (overselling ? ok, I dont really know, but sometimes its really slow, and most my asian readers said need to refresh to load the page. I am wondering if theres a way to check if they are overselling or not.)
I am thinking about buying vps, even tho, I still got 5 month left with dreamhost.
I found 2 vps companies are highly recommanded on this forum, JaguarPC and LiquidWeb.
theres already a post compared both companies in terms of price and service. I say I will pick JagarPc, cuz, its basic plan just 20 USD, and htey got promotion now, its even cheaper. and basic Liquidweb vps plan is 60 bucks.
I am wondering why Jagarpc is so cheap , are they overselling? how can we check if they are overselling.
I found a few posts saying how good jaguarPc is. and they are not overselling, but those members just signed up this month, and only have 1-3 posts. I cannot really trust those new members.
Can someone share their experience with JaguarPC? compare JaguarPc performance and liquidweb performance. antoher question is switch from dreamhost to JaguarPC basic vPS plan, will performance gets better?
last question: VPS account allows 3 IP, 3ip = 3 domains? if not, how many domains can I have?
