Plesk 12.x / Linux :: Changing Custom Port And Creating Full Backups
Jan 22, 2015
Have some very important questions regarding changing plesk ports and creating full backups.
1. When changing plesks port number, what exactly will it effect? Will it effect auto updates, etc.?
2. When creating a backup, I'd like to backup the entire server to rollback at anytime when changes are made to core files, is this possible?
3. With backups, somehow I'd like to schedule backups to possibly make nightly copies to an external hard drive on my computer for a fail safe method just in case the server happens to crash and I'd need to restore to another server/service. How would this be possible?
I would like to create custom nameservers for a Server i just purchased. I seem to be getting unclear messages from my Host & Domain registrar on what the process should be.
I have [url] registered. i would like to be able to provide [url]& [url]etc. to clients to use as nameservers.
i have no other servers hosting nor do i have a DNS created somewhere's else? what should be the process in getting these created?
I want to set up my server (a linux dedicated server) to automatically create daily backups of the pop3, mysql, & webfiles. I want it to go to a server which i have purchased with the exact same specifications.
I am not very good at unix command line/scripting. So what I need is for someone to help me define the backup strategy, select the scripts, and tell me of how to make sure backup server is secure.
Im looking for a shell script or something to do full backups of a live colo in NY and get everything up and running onto a new colo in Fl before we can kill the NY colo.
I have 2 Windows VPS (the provider name does not matter) and as you may know most VPS providers recommed to backup on your side, because they don't take responsabilities on your data and their backup systems.
So my question is what backup software/procedure, would you recommend?
My VPS include IIS files and MySQL/SQL server database software/data, and I am not using any control panel.
I purchased an ssl certificate and installed it in plesk via server->ssl certificates. I then followed the following guide to set up imap and pop to use my cert (instead of using the default i used my cert into) URL... Now I'm getting an issue with sending emails, something about SSLHandshakeException, and some clients can't even log in. MTs support mentioned this might have something to do with POODLE.
I’ve just switched to a deticated server. I have backups of sites I need to move over and restore. cPanel has a “Restore a Full Backup/cpmove” option. Two questions…
1) How do I upload the back up file to the /home directory of my deticated server?
2) If the backup file is under a current client “/home/clienta” how do I restore it?
I have two servers, a plesk 11 installation and a plesk 12. Running Centos.
On the plesk 11, set up by others, I have a nameserver running NS1.xxxx.net & ns2.xxxx.net point to the IP of the server.
I want to create a nameserver on the plesk 12 -- can't see how to do this. Is there a nameserver setup function in plesk 12?
More advanced question:
The domain name xxx.net is hosted at 1&1 where I have put the IP of the plesk 11 server in the A records for ns1.xxxx.net and ns2.xxxx.net. I have pointed ns3.xxxx.net and ns4.xxx.net at the IP of the Plesk 12 server -- as I would like to use these addresses for consistency. If necessary, I'll use ns1/ns2.yyyy.net.
I'm trying to change the ssh port on one of my servers, I have edited the sshd_config file and ssh_config. Changed the port, then enabled the port on APF. Restarted both APF and SSH.
Tried logging in via the port I specified, would not let me. Tried the default port, logged in fine. Why won’t it change to the port I specify?
When adding a subscription with a certain plan, I get this error"Error: The plan was not applied: Custom changes in PHP settings" almost instantly after I initiated the creation of the new subscription. Another service plan doesn't have the issue, and though I tried finding the reason why one works while the other doesn't I simply wasn't able to. The service plan in question is used for over 40 others without a problem just when I select it for a new subscription, I get the mentioned error message.I am using Plesk 12 on Linux, all latest updates installed.
Would like to know how to implement css and images to work with custom error documents. For some reason the folders are ignored even with the correct path being entered within the html. Only plain text appears.
I am planning to create site with sub domains like smth.domain.pl and there will be around 10 sub domains now my question is how to handle sub domain creation trough plesk or by htaccess ?
We get this same error on every subscription we create. It doesn't seem to affect anything but it's more of an annoyance than anything. It did it on plesk 11.5 and now with plesk 12.
My System: Ubuntu 12.04 Plesk 12.0.18 Update #18 Only Webserver no mail
What I want: I have an old sha1 certificate and I would change this for the whole server.
What I have done so far: I have already uploaded the new sha256 certificate with a new private key to plesk (I can not simply replace the old one, plesk does not allow me to upload a new private key).
Then I set the new certificate as standard certificate and pressed the "secure pannel" button.
After that the panel uses the new certificate.
Then I set in "Tools & Settings -> IP Addresses" on both IP addresses the new certificate.
Reboot
But now the "Tools & Settings -> SSL Certificates" shows me that the old certificate is still used 2 times somewhere. But the Interface does not show where it is used. How can I find out where this certificate is used? I want to remove the old certificate from the server.
I have the web pro edition panel 12 on centos 6.5 64bit, and i have made some custom firewall rules in order to be able to run a teamspeak server. The problem is that the firewall randomly blocks the teamspeak port and keeps it blocked unless i restart the firewall.
We are successfully using fail2ban on our server (CentOS 6.6, Plesk 12.0.18), that is, jails running and blocking potential intruders
However, we tried to create a custom jail for the CMS that is being used by most of our clients.
I followed the instructions (Tools & Settings > IP Address Banning (Fail2Ban) > Jails > Manage Filters > Add Filter) and created the filter I wanted, but then it does not appear in the list, even though it displays a message reading that the filter was created successfully. Then, if I try to create a new Jail, the filter is not available from the list.
Looking at the directory /etc/fail2ban/filter.d/ I can find a file that has the same name as the filter I created, with a .local extension (the file name does not contain whitespaces or other special characters)...
