View 4 RepliesI would like to create custom nameservers for a Server i just purchased. I seem to be getting unclear messages from my Host & Domain registrar on what the process should be.
I have [url] registered. i would like to be able to provide [url]& [url]etc. to clients to use as nameservers.
i have no other servers hosting nor do i have a DNS created somewhere's else? what should be the process in getting these created?
We just got a dedicated server, my first time messing with anything dedicated though I've had WHM before. I have 4 domains I'd like to setup to point to this. But I'd prefer our company URL to host the name servers. Domains are registered through enom who will allow me to setup the name servers.
I'm trying to use the "Nameserver IPs" section in WHM to setup the name servers but it just sits and "works" but never actually finishes. Does my company URL need to be pointing to the server before doing this?
(x.com = replacement for my actual domain)
I am currently in the process of transferring my sites to a new host (Liquidweb). On my old server I used my host's nameservers, whereas Liquidweb STRONGLY recommends (two or three times in the "account info" email) that I create custom ones on their server.
So for one of my domains, I created an account in WHM, created ns1 and ns2 nameservers in WHM, created the nameservers for the domain (in Tucows/Opensrs) and changed the domain to use it's own nameservers. (ie x.com uses ns1.x.com & ns2.x.com) That all seems be working fine now; ie, typing x.com in my browser resolves to the new server.
This would lead me to believe that the new nameservers are ready to use and that I should be able to start using them for other domains too. But when I try to change the nameservers for any of my other domains in Opensrs I get this message:
"Unable to update nameservers: Nameserver ns1.x.com doesn't exists in the registry"
I would normally assume that the new nameservers just haven't propagated yet. (It's been 24-36 hours since I originally created them in Opensrs.) However, x.com is currently resolving correctly, and it's using ns1.x.com & ns2.x.com ... so why wouldn't I be able to change other domains to also use ns1.x.com & ns2.x.com?
Here's a WHOIS I just ran on completewhois.com for ns1.x.com:[NAMESERVER whois information for NS1.X.COM ] [rs.internic.net] Whois Server Version 1.3 Domain names in the .com and .net domains can now be registered with many different competing registrars. Go to[url] for detailed information. Server Name: NS1.X.COM IP Address: 72.52.###.### Registrar: TUCOWS INC. Whois Server: whois.tucows.com Referral URL: [url] >>> Last update of whois database: Fri, 14 Sep 2007 20:01:24 UTC <<< [whois.biz] Not found: NAMESERVER NS1.X.COM >>>> Whois database was last updated on: Sat Sep 15 00:33:44 GMT 2007 <<<<I don't mind waiting if the nameservers just have to propagate (is that why it says "not found" there?), but if that's the case why is my x.com site already resolving correctly using the new nameservers?! Is it just because its using its own nameservers? (If that makes any sense ...)
I have WHM/CPanel installed, that's what I used to add the nameservers and so on.
I'm trying to configure my newly acquired VPS and am having a hell of a time with it.
I will be hosting several sites on this server, so I've ordered an extra IP so that I can run my own custom nameservers (and Lee doesn't have to bother with adding my domains to his system)
At my registrar, I've created two new nameservers (ns1.thatscriptguy.com and ns2.thatscriptguy.com) and pointed them to my server. I've added the additional IP to the system as eth0:0 and configured the domain. Here is a copy of my /var/named/thatscriptguy.com.hosts
Code:
$ttl 30M
thatscriptguy.com. IN SOA ns1.thatscriptguy.com. kevin.thatscriptguy.com. (
1172728392
10800
3600
604800
30M )
thatscriptguy.com. IN NS ns1.thatscriptguy.com.
thatscriptguy.com. IN A 66.90.121.92
thatscriptguy.com. IN NS ns2.thatscriptguy.com.
ns1.thatscriptguy.com. IN A 66.90.121.92
ns2.thatscriptguy.com. IN A 66.90.121.253
www.thatscriptguy.com. IN CNAME thatscriptguy.com.
mail.thatscriptguy.com. IN A 66.90.121.92
mail.thatscriptguy.com. IN MX 1 thatscriptguy.com.
I've got a Domain with Name.com. I have just introduced a new service into my website which is the google @ Doamin.com.
When ever i go to change my MX Records, The name control panel tells me that before i can do that i need to change my Nameservrs to;
NS1.Name.com
NS2.Name.com
NS3.Name.com
NS4.Name.com
But when ever i do that, it ofcorse makes the domain unreachable.
So how can i get it so that I have My custom nameservers
NS1.Fagex.net
NS2.Fagex.net
With these MX Records;
Record Type
Record Host
Record Answer
TTL
Priority (MX only)
MX leave blank ASPMX.L.GOOGLE.COM. leave blank10
MX leave blank ALT1.ASPMX.L.GOOGLE.COM. leave blank 20
MX leave blank ALT2.ASPMX.L.GOOGLE.COM leave blank20
MX leave blank ASPMX2.GOOGLEMAIL.COM. leave blank 30
MX leave blank ASPMX3.GOOGLEMAIL.COM. leave blank 30
what changes we are supposed to do the server to provide our reseller their own custom nameservers? we do have management companies hired for issues but i really feel i should know this too.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI have a Plesk VPS hosting 2 domains. I would (ideally) like to have both domains have dedicated IPs in addition to custom nameservers (custom to both names... ns1/ns2.domain1 and ns1/ns2.domain2). How many IPs in total would I need for this configuration? 4? How many if only one is dedicated? Or neither is dedicated?
View 7 Replies View RelatedJust curious what the benefits are to:
- creating your own nameservers on your dedicated server
- using your datacenter's nameservers
- using your domain providers nameservers
I'm wondering if using your own nameservers uses server resources, so it might be best using your datacenters nameservers?
I just ordered a dedicated server from WebNX and I got 5 IPs, I assigned 1st 2 IPS to my server ns1.mydomain.com & ns2.mydomain.com
Now I want to setup other 2 IPs shared for resellers accounts, so each reseller can have ns1.resellerdomain.com & ns2.resellerdomain.com
how can this be done?
Have some very important questions regarding changing plesk ports and creating full backups.
1. When changing plesks port number, what exactly will it effect? Will it effect auto updates, etc.?
2. When creating a backup, I'd like to backup the entire server to rollback at anytime when changes are made to core files, is this possible?
3. With backups, somehow I'd like to schedule backups to possibly make nightly copies to an external hard drive on my computer for a fail safe method just in case the server happens to crash and I'd need to restore to another server/service. How would this be possible?
just purchased a reseller hosting to provide a value added service for my seo clients .
I requested my domain registrar to setup my own nameserver i.e, the site i have registered for reseller web hosting nameserver, lets say it as ns1.myresellersite.com, ns2.myresellersite.com
I got a confirmation from domain registrar support that its been setup in my account. I have checked using my reseller site nameserver for a test site and the site is working fine and also shows my nameserver in whois details.
now my problem is i wanted to host a site so that new clients can go to my web hosting site i.e; www.myresellersite.com and can purchase my hosting plans through checkout.
I tried to park domain in my cpanel of reseller hosting but it says
"Error from park wrapper: You cannot park your main domain! "

What shall i do to park my name server domain as my web hosting domain?
Is there a way to create global default nameservers for our clients to use in Plesk 11? A lot of clients rather not create their own nameservers, and would simply like to use ours. I can't find any settings in the Plesk Administration where you would create your nameservers as you would in other panels like cPanel/WHM.
View 3 Replies View Relatedi have just asked about it a local hosting copany and they show unable to understand what i was asking in the beginning and to give me a proper reply when they finally did.
What i want is to create several mail accounts using my domain names (several mail accounts for each domain name using it)
The usual answer is to use mail forwarding that every registrar offer for free when you register a domain name with them.
So you get a
free mail account
amail@gmail.com
domain name
adomain.com
and you create a forwarding such as
amail@adomain.com to amail@gmail.com
then you give amail@adomain.com so they can write to you using that fake mail, the message will bounce in your registrar and will send it to amail@gmail.com
but what if i want a real amail@adomain.com mail because i want to write replies from that address.
With mail forwarding as long as i know you can receive mail using the fake mail forwarding address but as mail is not a real one you then are forced to reply from the real account behing the forwarding one amail@gmail.com
Can i do that, is that a service included in hosting plans or somewhere. Or am i wrong and its simpler than that.
If I have nameserver different to my hosting domain is it a problem?
example I have website AnonyHosting.com and I use AHpanel.com as my nameserver and portal/ticketing system at backend for AnonyHosting.com
I have one domain on iDotz.net i put in my WHM the nameservers anda the domain.
By the way, 6 hours passed and the website link is not working, anyway, the ns1.yourdomain.com & ns2.yourdomain.com is working and associated with the ip adress.
I'm trying to create a new domain extranet.ondes.fr to have a forward on an another website.
And have this error message : "Erreur: Failed domain creation: Impossible de mettre à jour les données du domaine : Failed mail post-configuration: Can't create mail domain servie: mail_Facade->createDomain() failed: mailmng failed: MEAOPO.PostOffice.AddPostOffice failed for name extranet.ondes.fr [extranet.ondes.fr]"
The issue is effectively that we created a subscription with the domain. Which has since been deleted. The domain now wants to be added to another subscription on the account.
The domain can be seen in both the PBAS and PPA domains and everything seems to point at the right subscriptions. I presume all this is right as we have other domains quite happily added to the subscription in a similar manner.
I'm not really wanting to rip out the entire domain from the system as we spent the morning putting in 132 records, due to a bizarre lack of bulk insertion tools.
I am trying to create plesk event handler
I have created the event
"C:Program Files (x86)ParallelsPleskbinsubscription_settings.exe" -u "${NEW_DOMAIN_NAME}" -disk_space 15G
for domain updated / domain created
But it doesn't run.
If I add hardcode the domain name for example mytest.com
"C:Program Files (x86)ParallelsPleskbinsubscription_settings.exe" -u mytest.com -disk_space 15G
the event works.
