View 1 RepliesI've installed the Plesk Panel onto a windows 2008 server. It's all good, web sites are flowing and I'm really happy with the software. The issue I'm having is a customer has an asp site with an access database. After I uploaded their site, they couldn't write to the database, so I had to manually go and set the permission on the database for the "Plesk IIS Anonymous Account (IUSR_xxx)" user to have modify access on the file.
So my question is this, how can I set up the default hosting account to already allow this and so I don't have to go an waste time tweaking the folders manually trying to find the right permissions?
Also, why is it the Plesk IIS Anonymous account that needed to have it's permissions tweaked and not the "Default Plesk application pool user (IWAM_plesk(default))" which is the user who's configured on the application pool in IIS? I can't see where the Plesk IIS Anon user is being used.
I have a Plesk Panel v11.5.30 installed into a Windows Server 2012. Whenever the panel is updated, the filesystem permissions are modified. Group psacln cannot access to several folders like C:Program files, C:Program files (x86), etc. Plesk users connected via Remote Desktop cannot run programs like Internet Explorer or so. Some web apps use Crystal Reports to build reports, and this doesn't work either.
Why does the upgrade process restrict access to these folders? It is possible to modify default permissions applied after panel upgrades?
How can I change permissions of a lot of files through plesk file manager without selecting one by one?
View 2 Replies View RelatedI'm SURE this is me being stupid but I cannot find where to change folder permissions in the new Plesk interface?
I go to the file manager but all I have are the basic file/folder operations (Create, Delete, Upload File, etc) - I can't find anywhere to change permissions on the folders to give the MYSERVER_IUSR permission, etc.
In plesk 11 all work OK , but now in version 12 , something go wrong.
I have an VPS Windows 2008 with Plesk 12 and Persits Software like (www.aspjpeg.com).
The Path of software is : C:Program FilesPersits SoftwareAspJpg
I set the permissions :
- Everybody (FullControl)
- Administrator (FullControl)
- Users (FullControl)
All go right, but the Plesk run micro update or check permission add this other account :
- psaadm (Deny All)
- psacln (Deny All)
And then persists Software not work in ASP files. If I delete this permission or change to Full Control all work again, but when have a new update all permission was reset and set again Deny All.
What happened? What can I do ?
[URL]
Al go right with that entry in (C:ParallelsPlesketcDiskSecurityDiskSecurity.xml)
Code:
<Entry AccounType="1" Account="Psacln" Path="C:Program FilesPersits Software" Comment="C:Program FilesPersits Software"
AceFlags="ThisFolderSubfoldersAndFiles" AccessMask="FullAccess" EntryFlags="0" />
But the last microupdate update the file xml and delete my custom line. The Plesk Teem or Support know how can I set a entry for ever?
How can we stop Plesk resetting the file permissions on a dll file that is found in
C:Program Files (x86)
??
Specifically,
we have a file, jmail.dll,
here
C:Program Files (x86)Dimacw3JMail
By default Plesk permissions are set to DENY for PSACLN.
But the JMail plugin cannot work with these permissions !
We change this to be ALLOW for READ & EXECUTE and DENY for WRITE.
And everything works fine.
But every time Plesk does an update it reverts it back !
This means that a number of our customers contact forms stop working !
I'm transferring websites from Linux to Windows.
My scrips are writing uploaded photos to the server's hard disk drive. In Linux, I've set up right permissions to the folder: allow write files, php user as the owner of the folder.
After I've transferred everything to Windows Server 2008 server, I've removed "read only" atribute from folders and files, but PHP scripts still can't write new files or change old files.
I wonder what should I do to fix it? Set PHP user as the owner (as in Linux)? If yes, how can I do it?
i am more a linux guy than windows, but recently i have to switch to windows.
In my FTP program I logged in one of my domains and tried to edit file permissions for a folder but in my windows filezilla server it game me 504 command not implemented for that parameter error message.
I read a little and learned that windows dos not support posix.
How can a change the file permissions on windows machine?
I'm running FileZilla Server on Windows Server 2008 Web Edition SP2. Everything works fine but I need to figure out how to make FileZilla set permissions on a file after its uploaded.
What is happening when I upload a file to the web server using through FileZilla Server the only permissions set on the file are for
SYSTEM
admin
Administrators
So when I try to access the file through a website I get a 401 - Unauthorized error and I have to go through and manually set the permissions every time on the server.
I need to find out how to make FileZilla setup the correct permissions on the file for the IIS user. Any help would be appreciated.
My Sever setup
DotNetPanel
IIS 7.0
Windows Server 2008 Web Edition
FileZilla Server
8GB Ram
CentOS 6.6
Plesk 12.0.18
64-bit
At some point, not sure when, PHPMyAdmin's (as accessed through the admin panel by clicking on a customer, manage hosting, databases, etc) permissions have changed such that I cannot view, edit or add MySQL routines/procedures. This appears to have occurred system-wide, though I have not checked every database on the server.
Is there a fix to get the permissions set so that I can make these changes again?
I believe the product we are using is Parallels Operations Automation.
We have a customer that we want to be able to give the right to unlock user accounts. The only way to do this seems to be to enable "Billing" as one of the privileges. Unfortunately this gives them more access than we really want to. Is there some trick we can use to give this user only these rights?
I had a old virtual Server with Ubuntu+Plesk12. I build a new dedicated Server with CentOS6+Plesk12 and migrate all Domains. Now i have a strange problem:
When i upload a file with FTP-User "user1", the file has the permissions Group=psacln & Owner=user1. All is fine, i can see and edit this file in a FTP-Program. But when my website create a file (cache html files or installed plugin folders in wordpress), I can't see, can't edit and can't download this files.
When i login to plesk with the admin account, i can see and edit this files. They have also Group=psacln & Owner=user1 and i can give them 0666 rights but when i login with FTP-User "user1" with my FTP-Program, I didn't see that files?!
Whenever I setup a new FTP user in Plesk and then configure my FTP client with exactly the same username and password and transfer files and folders onto the server then the file permissions allocated are incorrect. Folders get allocated a permission of 700 and files a permission of 600, whereas I want all folders to have a permission of 755 and files a permission of 644. How can I change my setup so that files and folders get the permissions I want ?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI have a problem where every folder I ftp onto the server gets given a 700 permission and every file gets a Zero permission. Most of the sites I am adding to this server will be WordPress sites and most of the folders I want to have a permission of 755 and for the files a permission of 644 so my question is how do I change the settings so that any new files ftp'd onto the server get the permission 755 and files get the permission of 644 ?
View 2 Replies View RelatedWe have several sites on one server. When I use the plesk wordpress manager it some how updates the User and Group permissions on folders and files with the username apache. How or what command do I run to get it to use the site username and psacln. It appears something maybe in an update or whatever has caused this issue. This only occurs with wordpress and drupal updates from the plesk interface.
What command can I run just to update the permissions to update all users to a username and psacln security settings on folders and directories.Running Plesk 12.0.18 and CentOS7
When a customer use the wordpress auto installation tool, all work ok.
But, when the customer try to install wordpress manually (Uploading by FTP), it returns different permissions errors.
Example: "wp-config.php" cant write .
I compared the permissions of both vhosts (WP-Auto-install and WP-Manually-Install), and have totally different permissions.
WP-Auto-installed : /httpdocs = 770
WP-Manually : /httpdocs = 750
How I can set permissions to 770 by default when create a vhost? to avoid the customer having to do it manually.
I have found through the KB the way to do it server wide but I was wondering if there was still a way to reset default domain permissions per domain.
/usr/local/psa/bin/repair --restore-vhosts-permissions - to restore all domain permissions.
We cant' modify any files of my website in WordPress that contain user www-data.
How can you can change the permissions to this user (www-data).
The version is Plesk 12.0.18 Actualización #44
We have also Plesk 11.5 with WordPress and never has www-data user.
I'm not able to restrict the customer permission.
I want to prevent customer of creation new Webspaces , domains, subdomains and manage DNS records.
If I put zero in webspaces, the customer remains able to create a new webspace.
If I disable DNS management, he can creates a subdomain in DNS.
I tried to put zero in domains, subdomains, webspace, dns in subscription.
None of permissions combinations or subscription limit prevents him to create a new webspace, neither add subdomain an manage the dns records.
Compliments about the integration of Fail2Ban. I saw a lot of blocks on different IP addresses that tried to logon to the server. Fail2Ban is setup to monitor SSH, FTP, and some more.
It is however not possible to activate the "plesk-apache" and "plesk-apache-badbot" jails.
I receive the following error when I try to activate the jails:
Cannot activate the selected jails: f2bmng failed: ERROR NOK: ('plesk-apache',)
ERROR NOK: (13, 'Permission denied')
ERROR NOK: (13, 'Permission denied')
......
ERROR:f2bmng:Command '['/usr/bin/fail2ban-client', 'reload', 'plesk-apache']' returned non-zero exit status 255
ERROR:f2bmng:Failed to reload following jails due to errors in configuration: plesk-apache
When i look into the logfile of fail2ban, i see that there are no permissions for the log files:
2015-01-10 20:14:40,987 fail2ban.comm [19428]: WARNING Command ['set', 'plesk-apache', 'addlogpath', '/var/www/vhosts/system/[domainname]/logs/error_log'] has failed. Received IOError(13, 'Permission denied')
The file permissions are set as following on all the log files:
-rw-r--r-- root root
I'd really like to activate Fail2Ban for Apache too.
I have the following command to execute every 5 minutes this PHP file which is working correctly:
/usr/bin/wget -qq -O /dev/null http://url.com/script.php
How can I make it so only the system (scheduled task or the server itself) can access to the file to execute it. I tried placing CHMOD 700 to the PHP file but everyone is still able to access to it and executive it.
Plesk version: 11.5.30 Update #44
I have just used rsync to backup a dedicated server to a new cloud server. I put the files in a plesk webspace 'Backup' folder for ease of use (gui). In File Manager for that webspace it shows the folder user and group as root, which is obviously correct as rsync maintains users etc?
Thats fine, I just wanted to be able to back them up along with the rest of the server configuration and content.
However, when I run backup it says "For security reasons, backing up is performed on behalf of subscription's system user. This system user has no read access to:" and "So it was not backed up. All other data was backed up successfully. To fix this issue you may grant access read/write to the file or directory for system user "(username)" or "apache"."
I don't know how to give read/write access to the system user? Through file manager there is no option to change permissions.
I have a python script that generates images and is able to write them into a directory on the same web space
However, I would like the same script to write files into another directory located in the web space of another domain on the same server.
For example, script lives here...
/var/www/vhosts/domain1.com/httpdocs/scripts/myscript.py
this works...
/var/www/vhosts/domain1.com/httpdocs/scripts/images/
this fails...
/var/www/vhosts/domain2.com/httpdocs/web/images/
The directory structure already exists, so there is no need to create any new directories
I have tried setting permissions for the destination "images" directory to 777 and that didn't work.
Do I need to specify something within Plesk to enable it to write to another directory?
run a command on /var/git to set rights and onwer without being cautious enough.I have run chown git:git .* -R which did not only run direction downwards the tree but upwards as well :-(
Any way to reset permissions and ownership for the directories back to standard?I tried /usr/local/psa/bin/repair already. Did lot of the fixes, but not all is in line yet.
How do we reset default permissions in virtual host directory in PPA.
I see some KB articles for Plesk Panel - but not sure we can use those.
Ok, new to Plesk, trying to move from ispconfig. So I have Plesk 12 running on Centos 6 64bit in a VPS. I figured out how to upgrade PHP and now I have installed my first website. The website is joomla based but I am getting the below error when installing components:
Warning
Copy failed.
JInstaller: :Install: Failed to copy file /var/www/vhosts/virtual-sim-racing.com/httpdocs/home/tmp/install_55081e65af5fe/pkg_kunena.xml to /var/www/vhosts/virtual-sim-racing.com/httpdocs/home/administrator/manifests/packages/pkg_kunena.xml
Package Install: Could not copy setup file.
This suggest to me a permissions issue - but what to do with it. I have checked all of the relevant Joomla folder permissions and they are all showing as writeable, so it looks like something outside of that?
I don't want to have to stick with ispconfig much longer ...
I am running Plesk 11.5.30 on CentOS and trying to change the default permissions of the /httpdocs folder and the skeleton site that is in .skel/0/httpdocs that appears when a domain is created. I have failed to find the event that I need to use to trigger the command.
#!/bin/bash
chmod -R g+rwx "/var/www/vhosts/${NEW_DOMAIN_NAME}/httpdocs"
Some research suggested using the 'physical hosting created' but there is no option for this in 11.5.30.
FTPS is not working after upgrade from plesk 11. On plesk 11 windows and linux worked fine, after upgrade my windows server, it stopped working.
