Plesk 11.x / Linux :: FTP - Wrong Folder And File Permissions
Nov 15, 2013
I have a problem where every folder I ftp onto the server gets given a 700 permission and every file gets a Zero permission. Most of the sites I am adding to this server will be WordPress sites and most of the folders I want to have a permission of 755 and for the files a permission of 644 so my question is how do I change the settings so that any new files ftp'd onto the server get the permission 755 and files get the permission of 644 ?

Ok, new to Plesk, trying to move from ispconfig. So I have Plesk 12 running on Centos 6 64bit in a VPS. I figured out how to upgrade PHP and now I have installed my first website. The website is joomla based but I am getting the below error when installing components:
Warning
Copy failed.
JInstaller: :Install: Failed to copy file /var/www/vhosts/virtual-sim-racing.com/httpdocs/home/tmp/install_55081e65af5fe/pkg_kunena.xml to /var/www/vhosts/virtual-sim-racing.com/httpdocs/home/administrator/manifests/packages/pkg_kunena.xml
Package Install: Could not copy setup file.
This suggest to me a permissions issue - but what to do with it. I have checked all of the relevant Joomla folder permissions and they are all showing as writeable, so it looks like something outside of that?
I don't want to have to stick with ispconfig much longer ...

I had a old virtual Server with Ubuntu+Plesk12. I build a new dedicated Server with CentOS6+Plesk12 and migrate all Domains. Now i have a strange problem:
When i upload a file with FTP-User "user1", the file has the permissions Group=psacln & Owner=user1. All is fine, i can see and edit this file in a FTP-Program. But when my website create a file (cache html files or installed plugin folders in wordpress), I can't see, can't edit and can't download this files.
When i login to plesk with the admin account, i can see and edit this files. They have also Group=psacln & Owner=user1 and i can give them 0666 rights but when i login with FTP-User "user1" with my FTP-Program, I didn't see that files?!

Server:
Centos 4.5/cPanel v11/php5 - SSH
Maybe someone can set me straight on this. I have always been under the impression, that under normal circumstances, permissions should usually be as follows:
userdir - 711
public_html - 750
folders - 755
files - 644
I am doing some work on a server and when I create a new folder (using WinSCP) it defaults the folder permissions to 775 and file permissions to 664. Besides causing possible problems with the applications I'm installing, isn't this a bit of a security risk?
Also, if I upload a tar and untar on the server it sets the same 775/664 permissions.

Whenever I setup a new FTP user in Plesk and then configure my FTP client with exactly the same username and password and transfer files and folders onto the server then the file permissions allocated are incorrect. Folders get allocated a permission of 700 and files a permission of 600, whereas I want all folders to have a permission of 755 and files a permission of 644. How can I change my setup so that files and folders get the permissions I want ?

I have a Plesk Panel v11.5.30 installed into a Windows Server 2012. Whenever the panel is updated, the filesystem permissions are modified. Group psacln cannot access to several folders like C:Program files, C:Program files (x86), etc. Plesk users connected via Remote Desktop cannot run programs like Internet Explorer or so. Some web apps use Crystal Reports to build reports, and this doesn't work either.
Why does the upgrade process restrict access to these folders? It is possible to modify default permissions applied after panel upgrades?

I got this Problem after install a New Plesk Server.
Current: CentOS 6.5, Plesk 11.5.30, PHP 5.3.3 (Default install), PHP as FastCGI (I Tried also with Plesk 12.x).
What I did: in IP Tables i set al Ports for Plesk; I set in /etc/proftpd.conf the Ports "PassivePorts 65000 65200"
Problem: Each file ore folder created by an php Application i cant see ore override by ftp.
Example: I Upload a new installation of Joomla 2.5 (CMS) by ftp with a User created by plesk. Then I start the Installation by using the Webbrowser. In this process Joomla change some files and create also an configuration.php. All done by php Scripts. Now I check the configuration.php on the FTP -> Cant see it. -> I check by SSH and the file exists. If I Check the Permissions it seams, that all file have same permissions, owner and group.
-> Configuration.php can not see by ftp ore be overwritten
-> htaccess.txt I see by ftp and i can manage
->> Permissions seams to be the same "?"!"

How can we stop Plesk resetting the file permissions on a dll file that is found in
C:Program Files (x86)
??
Specifically,
we have a file, jmail.dll,
here
C:Program Files (x86)Dimacw3JMail
By default Plesk permissions are set to DENY for PSACLN.
But the JMail plugin cannot work with these permissions !
We change this to be ALLOW for READ & EXECUTE and DENY for WRITE.
And everything works fine.
But every time Plesk does an update it reverts it back !
This means that a number of our customers contact forms stop working !

I'm SURE this is me being stupid but I cannot find where to change folder permissions in the new Plesk interface?
I go to the file manager but all I have are the basic file/folder operations (Create, Delete, Upload File, etc) - I can't find anywhere to change permissions on the folders to give the MYSERVER_IUSR permission, etc.

I just ran into a very odd problem with my server. I was checking out my banner links on other sites when I realized none of them were displaying. I quickly checked the folder I keep the image in and I got a forbidden access warning. I checked the folder from ftp and it said the permissions were set to 0, instead of 755 like they should be
I can't move, delete, view, or alter the folder in any way.

I recently set up an eas and autodiscover sub-domains on my main domain (eg myserver.com) running Plesk, Webmail etc, and is the default website for the ip.
So it should be..
myserver.com (not SNI default for IP)
eas.myserver.com (SNI)
autodiscover.myserver.com (SNI)
But I notice the actual default site (non SNI) is the sub-domain autodiscover.myserver.com.
I checked in
Plesk -> Tools & Settings -> IP Addresses
and that was set correctly, so I tried to change it and back again, then...
/opt/psa/admin/bin/httpdmng --reconfigure-all
Neither worked.
I'm running Ubuntu 12.04.5 LTS and Plesk 11.5.30 #48 (the latest MU)

I'm new to Plesk - I've inherited a web site for a local social club so have just been handed login and password. I believe I have version 11.0.9 and as I can see mention of an Apache webserver I'm guessing its linux.
So - I want to redesign and use Joomla so I can share the content updating with others.
I can't install Joomla as I have PHP 5.1 and need 5.3. I have no 'server' or any sort of option I can find (and I've looked everywhere!) to find a command line or somewhere I can run things.
When I try to allow SSH access the option says Forbidden and there is no option to change it.

I'm running Plesk 12.0.18 on Centos 7, recently I've got emails from backup service stating that it could not complete the backup due to insufficient space available on disk. Normally I have plenty of disk space available so I check the disk using the command
df -h
Filesystem Size Used Avail Use% Mounted on
/dev/root 20G 2.3G 17G 13% /
/dev/md2 91G 82G 4.4G 95% /var
it seems that /var has been growing up a lot,
but if I run the command
du -sh /var
I get a total size of 5.7G (not 82G as stated before)
is Plesk calculating the wrong size or it's me using the wrong commands?

This is on Ubuntu 12.04 with Plesk 11.5.
I set this up for someone, and temporarily changed the email for the administrative account to my address.
I have since changed this back to the original email, but Plesk keeps sending the administrative emails to my account.
I've pretty much grepped through the entire server for my email in order to stop it sending me emails, but I can't for the life of me find out why it keeps sending these emails to me.
How do I make Plesk send these emails to the right email-account?
The server is using Qmail.

I have a problem with webmail (horde). Horde Webmail show the wrong time, 2 hours to late. It look like that horde show the UTC time, but not the CEST "Europe/Berlin" of my server. I can change that over "preferences" -> "global preferences" -> "locale and time" and change "Your current time zone" from "Default" to "Europe/Berlin". This will now show the correct time (timezone), but this is not the solution because this will do all webmail users.
How can i change the default timezone in Horde?
Output from shell
#my timezone and this will show in all things but not in webmail horde
[root@www /]# date
Fr 11. Jul 17:32:14 CEST 2014
#this time look like the default time in horde
[root@www /]# date -u

Seems this started when upgrading to a version of 12. It was working a few days ago and only seems to affect mailing lists. I found a google Cached thread here where Igor was assisting some folks as late as Aug 4 and referenced this was "reported to development (PPP-10678 for your reference)" it seems the forums on Parallels changed or something because several Google links are not working and resulting in having to used cached results for the two links below.
I am able to disable SPF and the e-mails go through just fine however this was working with SPF enabled before a recent upgrade.

apparently Envelope-From, Sender and Errors-To headers are set to a wrong address for messages from mailman to the list-owner. This is particularly true for mails like 'message requires approval'.
It seems like the plesk<->mailman magic results in all list-domains being written to the end of /var/lib/mailman/Mailman/mm_cfg.py in the following format: add_virtualhost('list.DOMAIN').This in return results in mail headers Envelope-From, Sender and Errors-To of mailman system mails like described above being set to mailman-bounces@DOMAIN, where DOMAIN is the one from the last add_virtualhost entry.
In my opinion, this obviously is a bug. Maintainance mails from mailinglists have wrong headers set, often with a domain that belongs to a completely different customer than the mailinglist.
I found the following discussion on mailman-users mailinglist from 2008 which discusses the same issue - also a plesk setup: URL....

CentOS 6.6
Plesk 12.0.18
64-bit
At some point, not sure when, PHPMyAdmin's (as accessed through the admin panel by clicking on a customer, manage hosting, databases, etc) permissions have changed such that I cannot view, edit or add MySQL routines/procedures. This appears to have occurred system-wide, though I have not checked every database on the server.
Is there a fix to get the permissions set so that I can make these changes again?

My server is using Centos 6.5... I updated from Plesk 11.5 to 12 last week and postfix to 2.8.17.
Since then, all mails sent using the sendmail binary (notifications, mail forwards...) are being rejected with a wrong HELO hostname: localhost.
It seems that sendmail is using locahost as a HELO tag which is not accepted. Here is the following error:

When a customer use the wordpress auto installation tool, all work ok.
But, when the customer try to install wordpress manually (Uploading by FTP), it returns different permissions errors.
Example: "wp-config.php" cant write .
I compared the permissions of both vhosts (WP-Auto-install and WP-Manually-Install), and have totally different permissions.
WP-Auto-installed : /httpdocs = 770
WP-Manually : /httpdocs = 750
How I can set permissions to 770 by default when create a vhost? to avoid the customer having to do it manually.
