Install KDE Using YUM :: Error: Missing Dependency

Jul 1, 2009

Have a CentOS 5.3 VPS. Trying to install KDE using Yum.

Get following error:

Error: Missing Dependency: cups-libs = 1:1.3.7-8.el5 is needed by package 1:cups-1.3.7-8.el5.x86_64 (base)

I tried using Yum to install both "cups-1.3.7-8.el5" entries in the search but they are already installed.

Error: Missing Dependency: Bind During Yum Upgrade

Jun 20, 2008

While trying to update CentOS release 5 (Final) via yum, we are getting a missing dependency error that stops the upgrade. It seems that bind is missing.

Error: Missing Dependency: bind = 30:9.3.3-7.el5 is needed by package bind-chroot

However when we try to install bind, we get this error.

Yum Error: Gclib-common Dependency

Sep 9, 2007

After install yum on my centOS 4.4 VPS, I ran yum update and got this error:

Error: Missing Dependency: glibc-common = 2.3.4-2.25 is needed by package glibc-dummy-centos-4

When I tried to install glibc-common, I got this error:

error: Failed dependencies:
glibc-common = 2.3.4-2.25 is needed by (installed) glibc-2.3.4-2.25.i686
glibc-common = 2.3.4-2.25 is needed by (installed) glibc-dummy-centos-4-2.3.4-2.25.swsoft.i386

When trying to install these other things, I get more dependency errors. I noticed that glibc-dummy-centos-4-2.3.4-2.25.swsoft.i386 was mentioned. I'm not sure what this is, but it's by SwSoft? Is this something I have to contact my provider about? Thanks.

Error Install Postgresql

But I returned the following error:

If you have an older version installed you wil need to
Dump your databases to a file and then restore them
after the install as 7.3.x is not backwards compatible.
If you do not have any databases, you can just run:
mv /var/lib/pgsql /var/lib/pgsql.old
/sbin/service postgresql stop
/sbin/service postgresql start
to force creating a 7.3.x style setup. Do not do this if
you have databases that you wish to keep!

Install CentOS 5 :: Error: Failed Dependencies

Apr 12, 2009

I've bought an VPS recently but now I have a problem. It didn't come with yum installed so I need to install it on my own...

Now, I have a problem.

When I try to do:

Code:
# rpm -Uvh yum-3.2.19-18.el5.centos.noarch.rpm
This comes out:

Code:
warning: yum-3.2.19-18.el5.centos.noarch.rpm: Header V3 DSA signature: N
OKEY, key ID e8562897
error: Failed dependencies:
yum-fastestmirror is needed by yum-3.2.19-18.el5.centos.noarch

So I suppose I need to install the yum-fastestmirror first.
But when I try:

Code:
# rpm -Uvh yum-fastestmirror-1.1.16-13.el5.centos.noarch.
rpm
This comes out:

Code:

warning: yum-fastestmirror-1.1.16-13.el5.centos.noarch.rpm: Header V3 DS
A signature: NOKEY, key ID e8562897
error: Failed dependencies:
yum >= 3.0 is needed by yum-fastestmirror-1.1.16-13.el5.centos.n

Error: Install: %pre Scriptlet Failed (2), Skipping MYSQL-PACKAGE-NAME

Mar 31, 2008

I've been having trouble installing MySQL 5, strangely, on this VPS.

Upon every install, it is bound to give me the same error.

Quote:

root@host [~/src]# rpm -i --nodeps MySQL-server-community-5.0.51a-0.rhel5.i386.rpm
error: install: %pre scriptlet failed (2), skipping MySQL-server-community-5.0.51a-0.rhel5

Quote:

root@zendfree [~/src]# rpm -i --nodeps MySQL-server-5.0.51a-0.glibc23.i386.rpm
error: install: %pre scriptlet failed (2), skipping MySQL-server-5.0.51a-0.glibc23

I've tried out various RPMs - all of which gives :

error: install: %pre scriptlet failed (2), skipping MYSQL-PACKAGE-NAME.

Newaliases Is Missing

Jul 26, 2009

Mail is working fine and I receive root's email. My partner user2@[url]would like to receive the root e-mails however she doesn't.

I added her email to the /etc/aliases as seen below and then tried to run the newaliases command and discovered that it doesn't seem to exist. Has anyone else ran into this type of issue before? How do I get root e-mails directed to both of us?

Running:

cPanel 11.24.5-R37629 - WHM 11.24.2 - X 3.9
CENTOS 5.3 i686 standard on bamboo

Code:
root@bamboo [/etc]# tail -2 aliases
# Person who should get root's mail
root: user1@[url], user2@[url]
root@bamboo [/etc]# newaliases
bash: newaliases: command not found
root@bamboo [/etc]# updatedb
root@bamboo [/etc]# locate newaliases
root@bamboo [/etc]#

Code:
root@bamboo [/etc]# uname -a
[url]2.6.18-128.1.14.el5PAE #1 SMP Wed Jun 17 07:15:54 EDT 2009 i686 i686 i386 GNU/Linux

Missing Nameservers

Apr 9, 2009

How to correct "Missing nameservers reported by your nameservers"?

The Nameservers of the dedicated server is working just fine but whenever I create nameserver for my reseller account on WHM all domains using the nameservers of my resellers which is something like this ns1.resellerdomain.com ns2.resellerdomain.com, I got error from dns tool Missing nameservers reported by your nameserver. but all domains under that reseller works okay but I just want to make sure there is issue on this matter.

ERROR: One or more of the nameservers listed at the parent servers are not listed as NS records at your nameservers.

The problem NS records are:
ns2.resellerdomain.com
ns1.resellerdomain.com

This is listed as an ERROR because there are some cases where nasty problems can occur (if the TTLs vary from the NS records at the root servers and the NS records point to your own domain, for example).
