Install KDE Using YUM :: Error: Missing Dependency
Have a CentOS 5.3 VPS. Trying to install KDE using Yum.

Get following error:

Error: Missing Dependency: cups-libs = 1:1.3.7-8.el5 is needed by package 1:cups-1.3.7-8.el5.x86_64 (base)

I tried using Yum to install both "cups-1.3.7-8.el5" entries in the search but they are already installed.

Error: Missing Dependency: Bind During Yum Upgrade
While trying to update CentOS release 5 (Final) via yum, we are getting a missing dependency error that stops the upgrade. It seems that bind is missing.

Error: Missing Dependency: bind = 30:9.3.3-7.el5 is needed by package bind-chroot

However when we try to install bind, we get this error.

Yum Error: Gclib-common Dependency
After install yum on my centOS 4.4 VPS, I ran yum update and got this error:

Error: Missing Dependency: glibc-common = 2.3.4-2.25 is needed by package glibc-dummy-centos-4

When I tried to install glibc-common, I got this error:

error: Failed dependencies:
glibc-common = 2.3.4-2.25 is needed by (installed) glibc-2.3.4-2.25.i686
glibc-common = 2.3.4-2.25 is needed by (installed) glibc-dummy-centos-4-2.3.4-2.25.swsoft.i386

When trying to install these other things, I get more dependency errors. I noticed that glibc-dummy-centos-4-2.3.4-2.25.swsoft.i386 was mentioned. I'm not sure what this is, but it's by SwSoft? Is this something I have to contact my provider about? Thanks.

Yum Update Producing Error
I started a yum update on one of my VPS accounts. Halfway through the update I lost the connection to the server (Part of FDC's routing troubles...)

Now that FDC is back up and running smoothly, I logged in and when I do a yum update, it refreshes the repositories like it should, but then throws this error:

Quote:

--> Running transaction check
--> Processing Dependency: yum = 3.0.3-1.fc6 for package: yum-updatesd
--> Finished Dependency Resolution
Error: Missing Dependency: yum = 3.0.3-1.fc6 is needed by package yum-updatesd

Hopefully there's an easy way to go about fixing it..

"ERROR With Rpm_check_debug Vs Depsolve:" Error Repeated In Yum
In my move away from proprietary CP not configured for my needs and over which I have little control, I'm uninstalling them from my servers. On one of my VPS, I reinstalled the OS, CentOS 5.2 and am trying to prepare for an upgrade to CentOS 5.3 (and installs of new mailserver, webserver, CP and DNS server) by doing the required software updates on the server. However, I keep getting nearly the exact same error, outputting the exact same files. In this case, I'm trying to install "vim-minimal" for bash since I'm having bash problems, too:

Perl Filter Strange Error
I have a very strange error with mod_ext_filter (apache 2.2/php5.2.4)

Filter is defined with

ExtFilterDefine output_filter mode=output intype=text/html
outtype=text/html cmd="path_to_filter_file"

and called with

<Directory "/home/users/">
SetOutputFilter output_filter

filter file
------
use strict;
$_ = join('',<STDIN>);
$_=$_.'test';
print $_;
--------------

And now the problem. I want to automatically add extra html code with this
filter. On most sites working fine without problem. PhpBB3 working just fine, for example.

But on other php scripts like vBulletin, SMF, Nuke, IPB it brokes entire site.

IE6 have unterminable refreshes, IE7 displays an error page, Firefox retunrs a blank page if extra code is placed on header. With Opera errors are minimal but sometimes it displays some strange code.

These errors are only related to vBulletin, SMF, Nuke, IPB and few others.

Removing this line
$_=$_.'test';

everything is back to the normal without extra code

I've been having trouble installing MySQL 5, strangely, on this VPS.

Error When Trying To Run Apache Update (cPanel)

I have done the initial setup (ip's nameservers etc..) but when I try and run apache update I get the following:

Premature end of script headers: /usr/local/cpanel/whostmgr/docroot/cgi/easyapache.pl: Please check /usr/local/cpanel/logs/error_log for the exact error.

I look in the log file but it just repeatse the above error and doesnt supply any additional info.

POP Server Error After Apache Update
I run a dedicated server with WHM/cPanel (10.8.0).

I was recently supposed to update the Apache installation to add a module, but instead of clicking "load previous config" I clicked on "start build" by mistake. This brought the installation back to default.

I waited till the build was finished and then added all the modules I could remember having installed earlier. This made Apache not wanting to start. I went back to the default and then recompiled apache over and over again, adding 1 o 2 modules every time. Apache booted up fine, but for some reason my mail is suddenly acting up.

I keep getting the following error on one of my domain in my client:

Code:
Unable to connect to POP server mail.example.com.
Error sending password: -ERR Maildir invalid (no 'cur' directory)
When I click OK, I get:

Code:
Unable to connect to POP server mail.example.com.
Error sending password: Operation now in progress
I have a couple of other accounts in the mail client. None of them are receiving mails, even though I can see that there are new mails present in the mailbox via webmail.

My exim is configured to use mbox as far as I know. So I don't understand why I'm getting an invalid maildir message.

How To Generate PHP Error.log Files In The Directory Of Error
unable to get any php5 error logs

Here are my settings in the /etc/php5/apache2/php.ini file:

display_errors = On
display_startup_errors = Off
log_errors = On
log_errors_max_len = 1024
ignore_repeated_errors = Off
ignore_repeated_source = Off
report_memleaks = On
error_log = /var/log/php5/error.log

However unfortunately I never see any error log being generated in the /var/log/php5/error.log file?

Also with my shared hosting site one thing which I noticed was, due to some configurations set by them, the error.log used to generate in the folder where the error occured. This is a cool thing which they used to do, but I just dont understand how did they do that.

Is there an easy way for me to browse / search what packages are available for RHEL 4, preferably via website?

Using Yum To Update
I have two packages in Centos 5.3 that refuse to update via YUM. Coreutils and Findutils.

coreutils.i386 0:5.97-19.el5
findutils.i386 1:4.2.27-5.el5

The error code returned is:
error: unpacking of archive failed on file /usr/bin/find: cpio: rename
error: unpacking of archive failed on file /bin/ls: cpio: rename

I checked that the files are not immutable via chattr and that I am logged in as root. The directory is also writeable.

I can't remove them or change their permissions.

Any idea on how to force an upgrade? I checked with the support at Cpanel but they had no idea how to fix it and were less than helpful.

[Tue Jan 22 16:09:03 2008] [error] SSL Library Error: 218734605 error:0D09A00D:asn1 encoding routines:d2i_PrivateKey:ASN1 lib

Removed the SSL portion out of my virtual host file and Apache restarted. But if I put the SSL portion back in, Apache fails.

All paths in http.conf and ssl.conf files are correct. And the SSL Cert is valid.

This is Centos box with Apache2 with OpenSSL 0.9.7.

Any suggestions on why this happened out of the blue and how to fix it?
