Encrypted Email Address In Who.is Look Up

I recently stumpled upon this really good domain name which is squatted. I did a who.is look up on the domain so that I may contact the owner but all I get is this encrypted email address:

e-mail: 804c93ec0559b7bea8c91fcbf390296-bh867@contact.gandi.net

Does this mean that the domain owner has chosen to hide his email so that he wont be contacted?

Plesk 12.x / Linux :: Access Email Passwords In Plain Text (not Encrypted)

I need to be able to access email passwords in plain text (not encrypted). I'm running with updates so as to not force encryption, which I'm told is a one-way deal. I'm going to have to go to new hardware soon, as I'm finding the hardware starting to fail.

I understand the "mail_auth_view" utility shows the passwords, and was wondering if it will decrypt them for you?

If not, how can I keep the behavior of non-encrypted email passwords so that the customer administrators still have access to them for their users? I know a new install forces encryption, which is why I can't do that. How can I preserve the non-encrypted passwords and move to new hardware? This seems to be a deal breaker for my customers.

Postfix Recieving Email For Deleted Email Address

I had a email address I deleted on my server (postfix on Debian 4), but to my surprise the server still recieves email for the address!

(I have manually tried sending a email to the address and it comes througt).

I have deleted the address from the /etc/postfix/virtual file and restarted postfix.
What could I have forgotten?

Encrypted FS On Linux VPS

I'd like to develop a mail/imap server on a vps. I'm wondering if there's a way to store all the maildir boxes in an encrypted format, so that you could't see them on the host server. Of course i'm not really concerned that the vps provider will sneak into my filesystem and read my email, lol, and even if it would is not like i have something to hide, but that would be just to explore :-) So, on a vps you can't custom-partition your filesystem to mount /home/ as an encrypted partition, so it seems i could use "loop encrypted" filesystems ... As far as i understand it would be basically a file, lying in the master filesystem, that i could mount as /home partition and easily backup, by the way. Does anyone has experience with this configuration ? If yes, please share I'm wondering what's the best software i could use for the purpose?

Encrypted Backup From Windows To FTP/SFTP

Most of my background is the Linux/Mac world, but I do have ample Windows skill set, just not as refined or aware of all the available applications in Windows world, geared toward Joe User.

My accountant needs to run two sets of backups. First, he wants to backup his documents to an offsite location (space on his web hosting service) and he wants them to be encrypted on the web hosting server, which is understandable and recommended.

Short of installing TrueCrypt and using Filezilla with a manual process , is there any free or low-cost (but well supported) that would automatically upload revised documents and data files in encrypted form? This would not be very much data, just simple documents and accounting data files.

Secondly, he wants to have a "snapshot" of his HD to a USB portable drive (standard 2.5 HD). On Linux, I'd recommend Rsync, on Mac, Rsync or SuperDuper (and others), but on Windows, any recommendations? I see Unison, etc. I would just want it to update any files that have changed to make subsequent backups run much faster, such as only 15-18 minutes (depending on amount of data changed) and make the drive bootable, so in the event he looses his HD in his laptop, he could boot from the USB portable drive and be back up and running.

While I know I could easily figure out all this on a more manual basis, looking for things that would be friendly for Joe User to use and/or be something that can be setup and would run pretty much on it's own, assuming the backup drive was connected or system was on the Internet to upload the files, etc.

I just wanted to know that could we track or are able to know the actual email address of the user that hits on our website or is this possible from the provider / host to know?

I just looked into some of the services like -

Trace Email
Domain Look up
Trace IP

But somehow it does not full fill my above query. Or it is not at all possible to track email addresses directly ?

I am migrating a client from Plesk to my cPanel server and I want the client to be able to access webmail on their old server through their IP address during the migration.

On my cPanel server, webmail can be reached at [url]or [url]

The problem is that none of the above urls is working on the Plesk server. The webmail for the domain is currently at [url]. Could anyone tell how can I reach webmail on Plesk through their current IP address?

Sending Email To Another Server When The Email Address Domain Is On This Server

I currently have a domain on Server 1 (Linux, Apache, Ubuntu, Matrix control panel).

This server does not have any spam filter, so I have moved all the email accounts to Server 2 (Linux, Apache, Fedora Core, Plesk) which does have a brilliant spam filter; and have changed the DNS record for mail.domain.com to the IP address for Server 2.

Emails are being successfully received on Server 2.

On Server 1, when an email is sent through SMTP to an address at that domain, it does not send it to Server 2, it gets delivered to the hosting account for the domain on Server 1. So what I am guessing is happening is that Server 1 detects the domain has an account on the server, and instead of looking up the DNS info for that domain, just assumes it is on Server 1.

What I need to do, is force Server 1 to send email for that domain to Server 2. Is this possible, and if so, how can it be achieved? If more info about the server is required for a solution please let me know and I'll provide what I can.

Mail() Only Works With An Outside Email Address

lets say i am running the mail() script at www.testdomain.com - if i set anyemail@testdomain.com as the to or from email address, it will take 20-60 seconds to complete. If I use ANY other email gmail, yahoo, fake, whatever on either, the script executes instantaneously. What could be the problem? I am a newbie at all this and would appreciate any guidance I can get here as far as diagnosing, etc.

Receiving Spam From My Email Address

One of my clients is receiving spam from his email address. SpamAssassin is not marking it as spam. I have added an SPF record for the domain, but still gets these messages. Is there any workaround for this? I don't want to activate spambox for that.

Found Email Address I Never Created

This is twice I have found email addresses on the web that I have never created. Both domain names are the new extensions and I purchased them the first day they become public. .biz the other is .US

One of the domains I never even created a web page until yesterday. And today I find a German site using my domain as an email address. One note on this, this domain name is extremely unique and related to certain German ideas or thoughts.

I am thinking someone at the server created them and used them for their personal use. Is this possible?

Not only that, but I have sent email to these addresses and there was no bounce back. No bounce back meaning these are valid email addresses?

Trace If An Email Address Has Been Blocked By A Host?

Just wondering if there was a way to trace if an email has been blocked by a webhosts server.

My customer gets an automated email when he books online for Qantas Australia (Australia's biggest Airline Company). I have moved them from an Australian based web host to a US based server and host.

Since the host move, these emails no longer go through to the clients email address on the new hosts server.

I got Qantas to send the email through to me which is on a US server also but a different host to that of my client?? But they did not come through to me even.

I got Qantas to send it through to my personal email address (an Australian bigname ISP) which went through fine and I received it.

The auto generated email possibly could be coming through a 3rd party server so I was thinking maybe this server IP has been blocked for whatever reason (if 3rd party it could have been anyone) It is just strange that used to get them OK through the Australian server and still through my persoanl Australian ISP.

So is there a way to check and confirm and secondly if my suspicions are right would there be a process of trying to get the hosts to accept an email from Qantas as this customer doesnt want to have another email account.

Emails In Response To Autoresponders Going To Two Email Address's

Anyone here got any experience with autoresponders?

An autoresponder is setup, so that anyone emailing to admin@example.com, gets an autoresponder from enquiries@example.com asking for a couple of details, the person then replies to the autoresponder with the details, they then receive another autoresponder from enquiries@example.com confirming receipt of their last email. That's what should happen, but instead, the person keeps getting an autoresponder from enquiries@example.com asking for more details, even after they've already emailed the details?

If it's any help, when I've been testing this, when replying to the first autoresponder, I notice in the 'to' line it mentions both email address's, in the following format:
Enquiries@example.com <admin@example.com>

When I load a new account into WHM a pre-figured email address is entered into the DNS Zone automatically using the DNS Template field %rpemail%

Can you tell me where the email address %rpemail% can be found and how to change it.

Also can I change %rpemail% to something else in that field so that the email address it calls up is perhaps the contact address for root or similar?

Plesk 12.x / Linux :: New Email Address With NO Mailbox

Since upgrading to 12.0.18 Update #5 i have picked up a strange problem when creating a new email account.

When I try setup and new email account on any domain, I get teh following error message.

Code:

Error: mailmng-outgoing failed: ERROR:outgoing:mails.domain_id may not be NULL

If i click OK, I get the following error message

The specified email address is already in use.

I have to click cancel to return to the email address list, which shows the new email address with NO mailbox.

I then have to open the email address and check the Mailbox option to activate it.

Now the email account is configured correctly.

Plesk 11.x / Windows :: Create Email Address Hangs

I've got a problem with trying to add email accounts in Plesk.

My software is:
Windows 2008 R2 64Bit
Plesk 11.5.3
Mail Enable Standard / Free 7.53

I've added a subscription and the domain name.

When I click the Mail tab under the domain, I go to click "Create Email Address".

Plesk just sits there and doesn't load the next page.

I've tried looking for error logs, in Windows event viewer under Plesk it's blank.

The SMTP connector has only 1 outbound email in the queue.

I've tired running the Plesk fix permissions and verify database on Mail without resolving this issue.

Plesk 11.x / Linux :: Administrator-email Sent To Wrong Address

This is on Ubuntu 12.04 with Plesk 11.5.

I set this up for someone, and temporarily changed the email for the administrative account to my address.

I have since changed this back to the original email, but Plesk keeps sending the administrative emails to my account.

I've pretty much grepped through the entire server for my email in order to stop it sending me emails, but I can't for the life of me find out why it keeps sending these emails to me.

How do I make Plesk send these emails to the right email-account?

The server is using Qmail.

Forcing Qmail To Acknowledge Typo In Recipient Email Address And Try Again...

I was looking at my qmail queue using qmHandle and noticed that one of the emails sitting in the queue was simply there because of a blatant typo in the email address.

Therefore, I went to the appropriate file in

/var/qmail/queue/mess/*/*

and edited the file to reflect the new email address.

Does this work at all, or should the user resend the email? I naturally don't want to look at email that isn't intended for me (which is why qmHandle is a useful tool -- because only headers are available) nor do I want someone to know that I know their email is sitting in the queue (because they might assume that I *am* reading their email even though I'm not!)

I tried qmHandle -a to no avail; the email address has been edited as per my changes, but the email is still just sitting there.
