Dedicated Server Hardware To Real State Portal

i want to star a real state portal, but i have some questions on what kind of server i will need.
So my real state portal will have:
PHP/Sql Databases (for all the information)
Up to 20000 images (50kb each)
Up to 500 Videos (encoded in flv. 400kbps at full screen)
Visitors / moth: 100000
Assuming that every user that enter the site, views many houses, and videos and photos.
What kind of server or servers will i need to keep this website running?

if you rent a linux dedicated server from a server provider and you're provided with ssh access to the server,
how do you check and make sure that the ded server you're using is real ded server box, rather than a vps? let's just say that you are suspecting that the company is cheating on you.

I noticed some cloud computing service providers, like, amazon, gogrid, etc. are all based on XEN server, is there any provider offers cloud computing on real dedicated server?
another question is, anyone knows the difference between traditional cluster and cloud computing. I did not see big difference based on their own description.

which webhosts offers "real" unlimited shared or dedicated hosting? alot of companies say unlimited but in their terms it says they'll suspend your account if you exceed reasonable use and they don't tell you what this is.

Model Intel(R) Pentium(R) 4 CPU 2.40GHz
I've installed the default apache 2, mysql, php using aptitude.
The server load is not at all high, around 1-1.5 max. The apache processes running are at an avg 60-80. It has 1GB ram and Disk Swap usage is 0kB
My server keeps rebooting every now and then. These are the messages I get in the ssh session just before the reboot..

does mod_cache use real disk space or real memory to locate "cache"? I mean if i use mod_cache, does my vps/server will use more disk space/memory?

I have a website that I want to have people sign up for a user name and password in order to view member content on it. Right now I dont want them to pay for anything, but I want them to be able to go to the site, view a few pictures of clothing, and in order to see more of that line of clothing, they have to register to be a member, or already have a username and password to login and see. Is this done only through webhosts? or is there code that can be bought to accomplish this? what are my options to get this going?

I install a Oracle Collaboration Suite portal on a Windows 2003 server.
I configure everithig to put it online. I cerate a dyndns hostname and I forwarded the 80 port on the router.
So, when I type the adress the portal appears but when I press on a link he redirects me on server.xxx.local.

how legal it is to host a gambling portal. So you only have links and ads to gambling sites?
I heard for gambling sites it is only allowed in Malta. But is a portal the same? Also, it seems really hard to find hosting in Malta for reasonable price. Anyone any advice for hosting on this one?

I am almost ready to choose my host (as reseller) but I would like to know how is possible to determinate the importance of server location ?
In fact am located in Switzerland (middle Europe) and my targeted customer are especially located in my Switzerland, France and Belgium. In Europe is difficult to find nice host reason why I take a look for US hosting. It is a lot important to choose a host near my country ? It is just a story of access time to a website or something else ? Actually I have some website hosted in France and US but I don't see really a big big difference when a site load...It is a story of maybe 1 or 2 seconds more...and sometime the site hosted in France (and so more near to my location) take little more time to load..

We are getting the error from the SAP portal where we have installed Apache as a reverse Proxy on Windows server.
The Apache Server received an invalid response from an upstream server.
The Proxy server could not handle the request POST/irj/portal
Reason: Error reading from remote server

After 2 years of application hosting on ixwebhosting.com i have overloaded their mysql servers for the forth time and now if i overload them again i'll get banned.
Each time i got overloaded My database was taken away for a almost a week and i had to beg everyone / write a letter to the CEO so they'll return the database.
I now need to sireously move to a VPS / Dedicated server
or my database will be deleted permenantly including all my 10 gigabytes of usergenerated data and content heh.
The wrost thing is i can't even monitor these overloads and ixwebhosting just take away your databases and say "STOP, you overloaded!" that's it - you're screwed.
I really modified my scripts these 2 days so i won't overload them again and get the final booting (that's after i paid 2 years upfront - 260$), but guess what, they can't even tell me if i'm now overloading the servers after i done all the tweaking.
Guess it's time to get all the data to my comuter before they say i have overloaded again and all my 12 my sites get blown away.
I need to switch fast i don't have much time as it seems and my most important site has 8k unique visitors per day - that's why the over loading occurs, heh, because im just too big - UNLIMITED MY ARSE.
I've been looking for a host and the best i found (after 2 days of forum readings and google searching ) where:
1. inmotionhosting VPS.
2. rackforce.com DDS.
3. Iweb.com
Please any suggestion / comments to where should i go to host will save my buissness, my main concern is my 8k per day site with 2.5 page views per user and 2 mysql queries per page.
looking for a good company with managed everything (I know nothing about hardware managment - i'm a php / mysql geek at the most) and technical support with great uptime and a good ping / connection to israel's area is a big plus.

on the optimal setup for a new clients project. We currently host with eUKhost and have been very happy with them in terms of support. They offer a range of hi-end dedi servers but as with everything in life, cost is an issue.
The 3 servers I am looking at are:
Quad Core Intel Xeon X3360, 2GB Ram, 250Gb Sata, 100Mbit - £170 pm
Quad Core Intel Xeon X3353, 8GB Ram, 2x500Gb Sata, 100Mbit - £260 pm
Dual Quad Core Intel Xeon X5420, 12GB Ram, 2x500Gb Sata, 100Mbit - £419 pm
I know that obviously if money was not an issue, the last server would be the best, but I wonder if this is absolutely necessary for the website. Here are the anticipated site specs....
Portal site with anticipated traffic of around 5,000 visitors online at any one time, searching around 1,000,000 business listings and around 500,000 classifieds ads. Most listings or ads would have multiple pictures on their pages and there will be a reasonable amount of advertising on each page.
My question is whether the system will function adequately with a lesser processor and more Ram, or whether its the processor that gets the database searching speedily.

I found VPS at Virtuozzo logs that system turns locked and mounted and I believe the system becomes unresponsive at same time.
Here is the sequence of the status that can be found at VPS/status changes
RUNNING--->MOUNTED--->(LOCKED)-->(LOCKED, MOUNTED)-->
(LOCKED, RUNNING)-->(LOCKED)-RUNNING

When i login to the root for the server and go to mysql process list i see a lot of processes that are connected to photo handling and the sate is Locked with over 500 seconds of each one.
I see there is one process that the state says: Copying to tmp table
I read online that if this is taking long it might lock up other queries causing your server to perform slow and only solution is to restart mysql servers.
Right now i have over 100 queries that say Locked and one that says Copying to tmp table....each time i have to restart the mysql services but this happens every 10 minutes as i have enough traffic to cause this problem.

I have Apache 2.4.6 x64 installation. With the lapse of time, more and more threads appear that are stuck in "L" state.
They are all gone after httpd restart, leaving 408 errors in access logs. What can be the reason?
Can mod_log_rotate be involved? Currently it's set to rotate every 2 days.

this in my Incoming packets rules..
Outgoing packets are all accepted..
so if i made connection from the server the input rules shuld accept them because it is established and related connection.. But it wont work.. any ideas about it..?

I have following Warning when creating a new Domain inside a Subscriptions:

But in my case this does not solve the Problem.
1> All permissions are right.
2> When I type command '/usr/local/psa/bin/repair --restore-vhosts-permissions' i get the answer 'Directory permissions were successfully updated.'
3> The Order of Webuser and FTPUser (as described in the article) could also not be the problem, because in my case there is only one user (There is only Webuser and no FTP-User.)
4> When typing '/usr/local/psa/bin/repair --update-vhosts-structure' I get the following error 6 times each:
