Bad Page State In Process Apache2 (Server Reboots Frequently)
May 16, 2007
Code:
Kernel Version2.6.18-4-686 (SMP)
Distro Name Debian 4.0
Model Intel(R) Pentium(R) 4 CPU 2.40GHz
I've installed the default apache 2, mysql, php using aptitude.
The server load is not at all high, around 1-1.5 max. The apache processes running are at an avg 60-80. It has 1GB ram and Disk Swap usage is 0kB
My server keeps rebooting every now and then. These are the messages I get in the ssh session just before the reboot..
Code:
Message from syslogd@xxx at xxx
kernel: Bad page state in process 'apache2'
kernel: page:c17bc0a0 flags:0xc0000000 mapping:00800040 mapcount:0 count:0
kernel: Trying to fix it up, but a reboot is needed

When i login to the root for the server and go to mysql process list i see a lot of processes that are connected to photo handling and the sate is Locked with over 500 seconds of each one.
I see there is one process that the state says: Copying to tmp table
I read online that if this is taking long it might lock up other queries causing your server to perform slow and only solution is to restart mysql servers.
Right now i have over 100 queries that say Locked and one that says Copying to tmp table....each time i have to restart the mysql services but this happens every 10 minutes as i have enough traffic to cause this problem.

I have a server from FDCservers
My server is down at least 2 times a day causing downtime of 10 minutes to hours!
Configuration:
Core2DUO E6600
1 GB RAM
400 GB HDD
100 mbit port
cPanel/WHM/Fantastico/Rvskin
CentOS 4.5 32 bit
They swapped the RAM many times but still it sisnt resolved
I asked PSM to look why it crashes, they said that its working fine and tweaked settings. Please open a ticket again if it goes down again.
I am not going to open a ticket again and again everytime when it goes down since I am not online everytime.
When it crashes(or whatever) it responds to ping requests but not to http ssh ftp or anything else including cPanel/WHm.

this is getting out of control. I have a dedicated server that is "unmanaged" meaning, I manage it
I typically can make my way around a server and do most things - but in this case I'm stuck. I host a number of websites on this box and have went over a year with little problems. The past month or so it seems as though the server crashes daily or every other day. It will be running just fine, then all of a sudden the processes and loads will go out of control until the server is just unusable.
What do I need to provide here for you to be of any help to me? I watch the processes using "top -ci" and it's typically small output - but when it's getting ready to crash it's like a ton of processes get backed up and continue running.

I'm using Ubuntu 8.04 Server and during this week I had 2/3 unexpected reboots.
It seems like /var/log/messages is emptied after the reboot, so I don't know how to find out information before the reboot. At first I though of power outage, but I do have an UPS and the other servers were OK.
It seems that it happens always near the same time! I check the crontabs, I don't have any crontab near these times.
I check also the $last log, no one reboot the machine.
How can I find out what is happening? Might be any Kernel Panic error?

I have had a node with Justedge since July last year, they seem great for the most part, until things go wrong and you need their help.
Here are their responses to reboot tickets which I have sent in, all critical, all with things like "Reboot Needed" "Server reboot" "Server down" as the headers, all with either "Emergency" or "Critical" as the priority.
Here are the response times, when I sent in the ticket and got the first reply. I thought it might of been an isolated incident at first that they took a while to respond to an urgent ticket like this but it has seemed to not be the case.
Ticket submitted -24 Jul 2008 06:40 AM
Response - 24 Jul 2008 09:12 AM (Took 2hrs 31 minutes for a response)
Ticket submitted - 09 Jan 2009 02:46 AM

Ticket submitted - 10 Jan 2009 04:43 AM
Response - 10 Jan 2009 09:03 AM (Took 4 hrs 20 minutes for a response)
Ticket submitted - 03 Apr 2009 07:04 PM
Response - 04 Apr 2009 11:06 AM (Took 16 hrs 2 minutes for a response, luckily the server started working again in this time, aparently there were small power issues with something, although no detailed reason actually given)

I have a server with several sites hosted on it. Randomly, a site user will find that they can no longer connect to any of the sites on the server - but they can connect to the rest of the Internet. When this happens, the sites themselves are fine and everyone else can connect without any problems.
The only way the affected user can view sites on the server again is to reboot their router - at which point everything is fine.
why this would happen? I have a CentOS (Red Hat Enterprise) Linux server with DirectAdmin, Apache, PHP/MySQL - the usual. I'm thinking that there must be some kind of network setting which is allowing this to happen, but I can't for the life of me work out what it is.

I have a VPS with 2GB RAM. The load is always around 0.5 - 0.7. It's Xen VPS, and I see the VPS doesn't use swap yet. However, Apache is going down frequently. Might be 3-4 times per day, and DA informs me about the downtime when trying to restart Apache.
In apache error_log, I haven't seen any special error. Just few lines like this
Quote:
[Thu Dec 25 21:53:03 2008] [warn] RSA server certificate CommonName (CN) `localhost' does NOT match server name!?

I wonder why Apache is going down frequently, and how to fix it?

I have a cpanel server with 2GB of ram. For the last two weeks , we are experiencing problems with apache in the server. Apache goes down frequently in the server and we had to manually restart the service everytime. chkservd do nothing for a restart. I had
recompiled apache using easyapache script.
Strangely i can see some entries like the following in apache error logs
host: isc_socket_create: not enough free resources
I compiled it one more time but the errors still exist.

My Awstats is updating every other day and I would like it to up date daily.
I am in my third month of hosting and in about first 2 months, Awstats would update every day.
I have searched and read where it is possible to get Awstats to update manualy but it seems that my scenario isn't the same as everyone else's.
I am accessing my Awstats through CPanel and there is no way that I see to modify when Awstats updates.

I've been running 3 Xen servers for the last few months in a production environment, and facing a strange problem with one of them.
Server 1 and 2 run a couple of DomU's and are running just fine.
Server 3 runs one DomU and takes care of all the backups for the DomU's of Server 1 and 2
The DomU on Server 3 is crashing every night, right when the backups are being made.
DomU becomes inaccessible, but keeps appearing at xm list with state ------
When I try to connect to the console it wont let me connect. The only way to get the DomU back up is by using xm destroy and xm create again.
For the back-up I use NFS where the DomU on Server 3 is the host, and the other DomU's of Server 1 and 2 connect to it through an internal bridge.
Below you'll find some information about Server 3:
Hardware:
HP ProLiant DL380 G5
10Gb Memory
( 8 x 146G SAS10k in RAID 5 )
Dom0:

Booting params: dom0_mem=1024M
DomU:
CentOS 5 kernel 2.6.18-92.1.10.el5
Booting params: acpi=off clock=pit
The last qemu-dm log on Dom0:

I am running shoutcast on a spare dedicated system, for some reason it has been buffering a little to often for my liking.
I am running 64 kbps for 300 listeners and buffering problems become frequent around 150 listeners.
Is there anyway I can reduce the frequent buffering (be it hardware or software doesnt matter).
Latency seems very high (1100ms)
Would the fact that the server has been running continuously for 6 days have anything to do with it?

Many a times websites hosted on my Red Hat Linux server would not open even though Apache and everthing else is up and running. When i hit reload on browser 4-5 times the website would load or i have to restart Apache and everything starts working normally.
Today when this problem resurfaced i did not restart Apache and looked for in apache logs and saw this strange entry in apache Error Log;
[client my.ip.xx.xx] script '/my/website/httproot/mdqt.php' not found or unable to stat
The above was in apache Error Log, above is my ip address, and i never requested a file named mdqt.php, in fact no file by the name mdqt.php even exist on my entire server.
I then looked for mdqt.php in error logs and saw several requests made for this file and from various IP addresses.
i understand this is what causes my http to die.

They are all gone after httpd restart, leaving 408 errors in access logs. What can be the reason?
Can mod_log_rotate be involved? Currently it's set to rotate every 2 days.
