Power Price In Washington State

Dec 22, 2007

Is there any where I can find out that?

We're setting up a new facility there and some quoted me $10/amps, some quoted me up to $15/amps.

SoftLayer Washington DC

Sep 12, 2008

I signed up for SoftLayer again finally today. But my luck with them doesn't seem good.

I opted for Washington since it seemed a good contrasting location to the servers in texas.

I'm trying to rsync-over about 700GB of data from 2 servers located in Houston TX, ThePlanet.

My SoftLayer server has a 100mbps port, same with the source servers.

It's been at least 6-7 hours since I started the rsync commands. But since then it has only transferred a measly 35GB. Perhaps I'm not doing the maths so great here, but isn't this quite a poor transfer rate?

I wondered if any of you have a server at Washington SL, and had any similar problems with transfer speed in general. Should I have gone for Seattle instead?

Colo In Washington, DC Area

Jan 22, 2007

Any suggestions / positive experiences? The 1st preference would be Maryland side (all way up to Frederick) but the whole area is definitely of interest.

1-2 1U boxes or maybe a 4U with initially minimal bandwith reqs and high regard to cost effectiveness

I'm sure by now we have all noticed the Liquid Web ads for solid state drives by now. These offerings would make for incredible database servers, among other things. My questions is:

How many of you are going to run out and get a solution like this, from liquidweb or anyone else? Why or why not?

Power Supplies: Do Redundant Supplies Use More Power Than A Single Supply

Jul 27, 2009

do dual power supplies use more power than a single supply?

E.g. Say I have a server than uses two amps, powered by a single power supply. Now if I switch to a dual supply (and say each supply has the same efficiency rating as the single), does my server use more power? How much more?

My simple view of this is that it probably does, but maybe not much. The second power supply consumes some power itself, but since its not under load, it doesn't consume much. Therefore, my server with redundant supplies might use 2.1A or 2.2A.

MySQL Process List - State = Locked

Aug 18, 2008

When i login to the root for the server and go to mysql process list i see a lot of processes that are connected to photo handling and the sate is Locked with over 500 seconds of each one.

I see there is one process that the state says: Copying to tmp table

I read online that if this is taking long it might lock up other queries causing your server to perform slow and only solution is to restart mysql servers.

Right now i have over 100 queries that say Locked and one that says Copying to tmp table....each time i have to restart the mysql services but this happens every 10 minutes as i have enough traffic to cause this problem.

Can mod_log_rotate be involved? Currently it's set to rotate every 2 days.

Plesk 12.x / Linux :: Creating New Domain Inside Subscriptions - Target Directory Is In Invalid State

Apr 15, 2015

I have following Warning when creating a new Domain inside a Subscriptions:

I found this Article: [URL] .....

But in my case this does not solve the Problem.

1> All permissions are right.
2> When I type command '/usr/local/psa/bin/repair --restore-vhosts-permissions' i get the answer 'Directory permissions were successfully updated.'
3> The Order of Webuser and FTPUser (as described in the article) could also not be the problem, because in my case there is only one user (There is only Webuser and no FTP-User.)
4> When typing '/usr/local/psa/bin/repair --update-vhosts-structure' I get the following error 6 times each:

Code:

[2015-04-15 21:03:30] ERR [util_exec] proc_close() failed
Error: update-vhosts-structure failed: mkdir: cannot create directory `./webroot.kk-bits.com/logs': File exists
ERROR: Cannot relink logs. Target directory '/var/www/vhosts/webroot.kk-bits.com/logs' is in invalid state.

Unable to update the structure of the home directory: an unexpected error has occurred.
update-vhosts-structure failed: mkdir: cannot create directory `./webroot.kk-bits.com/logs': File exists
ERROR: Cannot relink logs. Target directory '/var/www/vhosts/webroot.kk-bits.com/logs' is in invalid state.

To get the error 6 times seems to mean, that i have this problem with 6 Domain.

Jun 2, 2009

I've read a couple of reviews on similar forums and blogs trying to figure out which hosts are worth their buck. The main points of discussion were:

- Price
- Reliability (up/downtime)
- Support

Most of the providers were either too expensive, or lack proper support.

The most discussed company was Hostgator. I don't understand the hype but maybe you guys can help me out here.
