View 2 RepliesOn our instance (Plesk 12 / Debian) I am logged out within 1 or 2 minutes quite often while working on config of the primary website (admin access). The session idle time is set to the 30 min default, and the problem isn't to do with changing IP addresses - the multiple sessions visible all have the same IP address.
This happens so constantly it is difficult do any real work. Where is the logic of session creation and termination? What do we need to look at to deal with this problem? We have root access.
I would like to know how I can find out who hosts a particular website. I checked the whois info at whois.sc but it did not provide the host. Is there another way to do this?
View 7 Replies View RelatedI have a task of converting a current Win Server based apache server from multiple IP based virtual hosts to a full name based virtual hosting.I'm famiilar with the steps but I was wondering if there are any gotchas in Windows that I should be aware of. It seems that now matter what I change in the new config it doesn't work or work as expected.

View 5 Replies View RelatedI have a domain, ex: hangnguyen.com at godaddy, I changed nameserver to ns1.everydns.net, ns2.everydns.net, ns3.everydns.net .
Now I order a shared hosting at bluehost, I should change nameserver to ns1.bluehost.com, ns2.bluehost.com to make it works .
But I want keep the nameserver ns1.everydns.net ....
So how I config my domain in everydns control panel to let my domain work on bluehost?
I have almost finished designing my site and so I'm looking for a host. However, in looking for hosts I found that a lot of them were scams or were not to be trusted. There were lots of review websites that gave a top 10 listing, and the top 2 always used to be justhost and hostingmonster. Which I didn't really trust as Justhost gave me this silly thing when I tried to leave the page saying 'you can talk to a special agent to get a discount' and all that tosh.
So basically, I'm looking for a host that has a fair amount of space, preferably linux OS and preferably in the UK, and it must have MySQL support and be nice cheap one if possible, around £3.00 a month is fine.
I already have a web account with a shared web host. My site is growing. I want to buy a new account with a different web host but I'm afraid that the servers will be slower (the specs are better, but maybe it has more sites hosted on it or they are dishonest etc.?).
So, when I buy the new hosting account, can I simply copy and paste my site over and see which server serves the page faster? Then I should be able to decide which server to associate the domain name with...
I am planning to change my shared server web host. As part of my evaluation, I want to test the speed of web hosts I'm considering switching to. I've looked but could not find any reliable data for speed. So, I want to create my own data.
Based on some specific requirements, I have chosen the following finalists: ANhosting/Midphase, Hostgator, IXWebhosting, and Websitesource. If you have a website that uses one of these hosts,
I think a good way of doing a fair, accurate speed comparison is for 2 or 3 customers of each web host to place a 20MB file on their website. I will then download the file from each customer site during a high-traffic time of day. I will then report the results here.
This forum doesn't allow urls for the file to download, I think, but I hope it is allowed to put the URL for the download into an attachment, enclosed...
I anticipate that other webhosts that are reading this will want to participate. I welcome this, so here are some key features I need: php/linux, add at least 3 dedicated IPs to one account (could be extra fee), at least 20 addon domains on one acct., catchall/default email, shared ssl.
I have a 2003 SBS server with about 50 users on exchange. It is a standalone DC - all the users connect with 'profiles' and 'docs' on the server and use exchange thru outlook..when they leave the office they VPN in and exchange works like a charm.
Problem is for a quick setup I've used the POP 3 connector and kept the emails hosted on my server - I want to get rid of the POP3 connector setup altogether and have mail delivered directly to the server.
Can someone give me a walk thru of steps to do this - so far I have fgured out that I have to add the domain to the recipient policy - configure it properly and then setup each user to receive email for that username and it will just work....
I want to be sure and was hoping that someone who has done the same thing could point me to an accurate tutorial of sorts.
On a rhel 5.3 + cpanel server, i have a time problem.
Web apps, as joomla show articles with a -2 hours time difference, or even webmail clients like roundcube are showing a wrong time when an email arrives. It seems this apps are not picking up the server time.
Both things (joomla and webmail) should use the configured server time.
I know Joomla can be fixed using the time zone option, and webmail too.. but in a server with over 300 websites, there are many joomlas installations and even more mailboxes...
/etc/sysconfig/clock have the right time zone.
I am trying to do something that I believe is fairly non-standard. What I am looking to do is create a system where I can rapidly deploy web sites without having to restart named and Apache. For example, if a customer completes a process, I want to be able to turn that site on immediately using a temporary domain (somecompany.example.com or othercompany.example.com).
With some programming language (hopefully PHP) I would like to get the customer up and running with their site immediately without having to restart the server. While doing some research I found I could use MyDNS which uses MySQL to manage DNS data instead of configuration files. MyDNS can be updated on the fly.
For Apache I have seen wildcard configurations, but everyone seems to be suggesting the use of mod rewrite. I would prefer that the domain maps directly to a specific folder:
somecompany.example.com -> /sites/somecompany/htdocs
(*.example.com -> /sites/*/htdocs)
Does anyone know how I might do this with Apache. It seems similar to user directories (example.com/~username -> /home/*/htdocs)
to migrate a site from one host to another and preserving all emails is crucial.
If a client has not checked his/her email in 2 weeks and then we change the hosting companies (switch nameservers of the domain), will these emails be lost?
I bought a subscription to a host called "godaddy" and I have no idea how I can "run it" like actually upload script files I want to run, it seems you need to define a "domain" for the host,
View 1 Replies View RelatedMy registrar has ten slots for DNS name servers. What I wonder about is if I could fill the slots with name severs of two different hosts. And if so what would happen.
Would I get my traffic split equally between the two sites? Or would all of the name requests go to #1 slot and only check deeper upon failure?
And I also wonder if this would result in an ip war between the name servers with one set constantly broadcasting their ip to other name servers, and the other set broadcasting their own ips.
I don't really have any reason for wondering about this. Just a matter of curiosity.
I already have a website but looking to get another hosting just for wordpress.
My current host doesn't support php/mysql as it's a windows server, and we have VPS but after installing php/mysql, realised we needed to install apache, just seem like too much headache so now we just wanna buy hosting for our blog.
When we buy, do we have to buy a new domain name, we dont want this, we just want it to be an extension of our site like
www.mysite.com/blog
I am looking for a VPS hosting company that basically allows unlimited email sending without restrictions. Does it necessarily have to be off-shore?
I will be sending about 300k per day, or somewhere in that neighborhood.
The bandwidth and storage I am not too concerned about.
I own a number of different websites, and recently have been having a couple of problems regarding uptime...
My question is...
Is there anyway of setting up a fail-safe page? So that when 1 server isn't found, it redirects to another DNS?
I would have thought you could just add a second set of DNS servers like so..
NS1:- NS1.MYFIRSTHOST.COM
NS2:- NS2.MYFIRSTHOST.COM
NS3:- NS1.MYSECONDHOST.COM
NS4:- NS2.MYSECONDHOST.COM
But I'm not sure whether this will work?
All I am asking for, is a way to direct ALL my traffic to my main server... But when/if the first hosting goes down, I would like the domain to point to my second host...
I have heard of a way to do this with a third party DNS service... but the one's i have found are all pay services..
I have a client that is unable to connect to his FTP and control panel, and he does not know which web hosting company hosts his web site since he never gets billed for it. I tried looking up the WHOIS to type in the NS1/NS2 web address to see which web hosting company the site points to, but had no luck.
This is the domain:
[url]
Our mail queue is getting stuffed with emails because remote hosts cant find our hostname.....
Should we change the hostname? Should we change the main IP? Submit a ticket with the DC? (This'll be faster, thats a last min option)
hostname: piper.bluepipes.net
IP: 208.53.131.149 (i think)
I am switching hosts, and I have tens of thousands of emails on my old mail server that I need transferred to my new one. How can I do that?
View 9 Replies View RelatedI have example.com as a reseller account hosted on a shared server. I have ns1.example.com and ns2.example.com on that server and client domains use these nameservers.
I want to move to a VPS for more control and so I have acquired vps.example.com. This also has vps_ns1.example.com and vps_ns2.example.com with it.
Can I move everything to the VPS? Assuming that I move the files over, if I simply changed the DNS of example.com to point to nameservers vps_ns1(and 2).example.com, what would happen?
Have I made it over complicated for me to understand, and it's actually a lot easier than I think? Or have I shot myself in the foot by using vps.example.com as the name for the VPS?
I am using cPanel/WHM for both servers.
I couldnt send email via my website , and occur error:
Persits.MailSender.4error '800a0015'
Logon failure: unknown user name or bad password. /includes/email_functions.asp, line 349
how to resolve it?
I have server A serving the website for my domain example.com and server B handling email for the same domain example.com.
Apart from one problem everything is working the way it should. The problem is that all email originating from server A (the one hosting the website) to someone@example.com is delivered locally (server A) and never gets out where it could be routed correctly to server B.
What needs to be done to deliver mail originating from server A to server B?
Does anyone know if there is a company or a program that would allow me to setup free email for users using my domain name? Say if I wanted to be my own gmail or hotmail - maybe on a much smaller scale at first?
View 0 Replies View RelatedI find that I like using CPanel with addon domains in a new unlimited domains shared plan rather than using WHM with each name having its own CPanel in a reseller plan (which I have been used to until now at another host). The only problem is that all the addon domains are out of order - they are not even in the order in which I add them. This puts a damper on things and makes managing them much less efficient than one would expect with the addons in order.
After putting in a support ticket, I was told they can't do anything about it at all. They told me the order of the listing is the order in the "mail server apache configuration."
After posting this matter here in the Apache forum, I have been informed by an SP member that the answer I got wouldn't hold any water at all, or more accurately, consists of a whole lot of smoke. As a person who knows how easy and basic it is to sort data lists or drop-down form selector fields myself, I must admit that it's hard to believe nothing can be done in the 21st century.
I have no desire at all to go with another reseller plan, and like using CPanel instead with addons.
Does anyone know of the good and well known unlimited domain hosting providers who keep the addon domains in order within CPanel? Is there any other good option for shared hosting that doesn't involve using WHM and does offer common sense multiple domain management where everything is in order?
Lets say I own domain sexy.com
I want to offer email to users me@sexy.com, you@sexy.com etc etc.
What do I need? Is a webhost sufficient for hosting email service?
any system/script to take care of the user management side?
One of my clients like to host his emails at Yahoo hosting service, but he also wants to host his website at another hosting company with the same domain.
View 9 Replies View RelatedBasically as the title says I have a domain thedrunkengamer.net that is my main domain and website, I just got a dedicated server and in the startup steps in WHM im at the Nameserver setup screen.
If i go to GoDaddy and register ns1.thedrunkengamer.net and ns2.thedrunkengamer.net as nameservers can I still use www.thedrunkengamer.net as my website?
If so by doing this will it impact the performance of my website at all? Should I register a seperate domain to use for nameservers?
