I'm having difficulty sending an email to another email address (with a different domain) which is on the same VPS.The trouble is, on the other domain's VPS control panel, within the DNS settings, the MX records have been pointed externally (to an exchange server). Their email is turned off. But bizarrely, their mailbox is full.
It seems as though Plesk is ignoring the MX records, and sending MY email internally to the OTHER domain's mailbox on the same VPS.How do I get Plesk to send my mail to the correct EXTERNAL MX records?

We are running an application on IIS that sends out 4-500 emails per day via a smarthost, but nearly 11,000 every weekend. None of this is bulk mail...
We need a new smarthost provider ASAP, as our current host is discontinuing this service this week, and we were just notified.

my datacenter reply me :
PHP Code:
Hello,We have investigated your issue in detail. We tried to sent mails from the server to our Softlayer hotmail account. From the logs, it is clear that the mails are sent successfully from the server.=========2007-11-23 23:50:29 1IviI1-0001De-SX <= root@server.XXXX.net U=root P=local S=3612007-11-23 23:50:30 1IviI1-0001De-SX => XXXX@hotmail.com R=lookuphost T=remote_smtp H=mx3.hotmail.com [65.54.244.200]2007-11-23 23:50:30 1IviI1-0001De-SX Completed========But this is not received at the hotmail mailbox. Hence this is an issue at their end. You may contact the hotmail support to resolve this.Regarding the spamming, we could find a lot of mails from the user nobody. You can prevent the user nobody from sending the mail from WHM as follows. Please select the option "Prevent the user "nobody" from sending out mail to remote addresses" from WHM >> Main >> Server Configuration >> Tweak Settings >> Mail option.
I currently have a vps, just name it myvps.com (not subname.myvps.com).
I wanna send email to somename@myvps.com from php
php with sendmail function always try to send to user 'someone' on this vps that doesn't exist, junk the root user mail with mailer-daemon explaining that no such 'someone' user. I want to route it to another server.
I can not send email from my server ,it shows the below error :
"There was an error sending your message: authentication failure [SMTP: Invalid response code received from server (code: 435, response: Unable to authenticate at present)]"
SPF correct DNS correct Submitted to sender ID 2 weeks ago Mail server tested to other mail clients all ok GMAil header test. SPF pass DNStools test: reverse dns, all ok Blacklists checked. Im not on it
I cant find any reason anymore why my mails dont arrive.
I think someone has successfully make my server to send out emails. Why i know this?
it's because I saw many return emails saying that the emails sent out to their inbox are consider spam. I mean a lot for instance within 1 second, there are more than 10 mails.
Can someone help explains me how I can find the culprit and fix the problem?
These emails are simply replies to people contacting me first then I reply with ONE message from an autoresponder. No further contact is made unless they write me back again.
This is not really something that would work with aweber, getresponse, or a similar service.
And most email service providers seem to have a limit of 250/messages a day.
I'm guessing I will need a dedicated server for this?
Anything else I need on the dedicated server? I only have a few mailbox accounts I use that I access via outlook.
I have a dedicated server with godaddy and it has squirrel mail/sendmail/dovecot etc installed on it. I am able to log-in to squirrel mail but when I try to send email, it fails. Even it's not able to receive email. I restarted sendmail but it still does not works.
I tried to send email through command line but it does not work either.

I recently moved a site from a hosting company to a VPS. I updated the name servers with the domain name registrar and the transfer went smoothly.
However one thing does have me puzzled. As I understand it (and correct me if I am wrong) my new hosting company are now the authority for my zone and should have a zone file which points my domain name at one of their IP addresses? However my previous host has a webbased email panel - if I log in to it I can still send email (but not recieve). This has confused me as I would have thought that my new ISP would have a zone file with an MX record for my email? How is this possible?
Is anyone aware of any good tools or tips that I can use to monitor use of qmail/sendmail to generate and send email messages from PHP scripts on a web server?
I want to keep a check on sites that are sending email from the site, to make sure they are not being exploited and result in our server getting blacklisted by big service providers. I'd love a tool that would automatically block messages from an account after a certain threshold is hit.
I'm running a Plesk 8.1.1 & 8.2.0 server configuration..
if i try to telnet to yahoo's mail server, i get this:
[root: #] telnet mx1.mail.yahoo.com 25 Trying 4.79.181.14... telnet: connect to address 4.79.181.14: Connection timed out Trying 4.79.181.15... telnet: connect to address 4.79.181.15: No route to host Trying 67.28.113.11... telnet: connect to address 67.28.113.11: No route to host Trying 67.28.113.10... telnet: connect to address 67.28.113.10: No route to host
but it works from one of my other hosted servers. this keeps mail building up in my queue as it cannot send mail out cause the connection times out.
I can telnet locally to send myself email. This is my own dedicated server.
i have no idea whats up - default policy is ACCEPT in the OUTPUT chain of iptables.
The following setup has been working fine for several months, I came to check the site today and I'm unable to connect. Email and site are split (email is with googlemail).
It appears Comcast is now blocking port 25. As a result, I can't sent outbound email via my dedicated server. They had me change to port 587 for my comast email account, but that doesn't solve my not being able to send outbound from my dedicated server.
Is there anythighn I can do (like change the post my mail server uses to 587) so that I can send outbound mail from my server with outlook (over Comcast connection) or am I just stuck now with using web mail?
We have been running our web/ftp/application/mail server for about 4 years, and running flawlessly. This week one of the computers in the network was infected with a virus that was sending spam like crazy. We got blacklisted, as per this site mxtoolbox.com. Our domain is affordablerto.net. Since then we have isolated the problem, klilled the virus and are no longer blacklisted. But we are not able to send or receive any emails now. I wrote mxtoolbox and there reply was basicly "We can get you up and running if you pay us". I called our ISP and they stated that the ports(25) are open. When I do an smtp diagnostic from mxtoolbox I get the response that Argument 'Length' must be greater or equal to zero.
When I go to dnsreport and input our mail server (mail.affordablerto.net) I get ERROR:
The parent servers say that the domain mail.affordablerto.net does not have any NS records (although they may have some other information on that zone).
When I put in our mail server under mail test I get this Getting MX record for mail.affordablerto.net (from local DNS server, may be cached)... There is no MX record for mail.affordablerto.net! That's bad. Checking for an A record... Got it!
When I put in our domain I get this...well I can not put a link in yet - the software here says I need to take 5 posts before I can link anything. Go ahead and try it yourself.
I am not sure what most of this information means. I am in contact with our DNS provider and they keep on trying to sell me some solution. So does mxtoolbox.
iam always having problem with Email know i have order a new server i try to use some script like phpbb.vb.ipb and some other script that have options to send email when people register etc...
if i register use hotmail there is no email will come to me in my inbox why ?
but if i send email from my hotmail email to my domian name email i get it
so i make some research on the net i find something maybe this could be the problem but as i am newbie to the server i have no idea how i can fix this problem
Quote:
set reverse DNS for your IP address and if possible an SPF record for your domain.
as you can see he is asking me to set the dns etc i dont no . is there anything i could do via WHM/CP/SSL"PuTTy" etc
suppose my domain is mydomain.com, my sendmail may send email to any domain name except local domain, say, sendmail may send email to hotmail, yahoo or any other domain name, but when send email to emailbox under mydomain.com, sendmail log will say domain not found.
My situation is my server does not have DNS service, my DNS service is outsourced, and MX record also is outsourced.
