"Currently Not Permitted To Relay"
Aug 15, 2007
I had this issue some minutes ago, i was trying to send a large email list using outlook, the email client didn't show any errors and delivered everything ok.. but mails never go out of the box... so I decided to search the logs and found this:
Code:
2007-08-15 14:07:41 H=xx.xx.xx.xx.dynamicip.rima-tde.net (info@mywebsite.com) [xx.xx.xx.xx] F=<info@mywebsite.com> rejected RCPT <micheltoria@libero.it>: xx.xx.xx.xx.dynamicip.rima-tde.net (info@mywebsite.com) [xx.xx.xx.xx] is currently not permitted to relay through this server. Perhaps you have not logged into the pop/imap server in the last 30 minutes or do not have SMTP Authentication turned on in your email client.
2007-08-15 14:07:42 unexpected disconnection while reading SMTP command from xx.xx.xx.xx.dynamicip.rima-tde.net (info@mywebsite.com) [xx.xx.xx.xx]
Authentication required was active at the email account configuration, everything was well configured.. it was a server wide error.
Searching over the net i found this solution: ran /scripts/mailperm and after that I added "127.0.0.1" to /etc/relayhosts list, restarted Exim and the problem was resolved, all mails were delivered OK.
My question is, what is the function of /etc/relayhosts, /scripts/mailperm (fixing mailbox permissions?) and /etc/localdomains ? Is it OK to have 127.0.0.1 in /etc/relayhosts list?

we are getting a number of:
does not like recipient.
Remote host said: 550 relay not permitted
checked for IP stauts and it is not flagged or listed as banned, there would be no reason however I double checked and there were no issues there.
Can someone suggest if this is a server issue?

Using a custom mx entry as well
So basically it due to the MX change, it looks like it sees any incoming email (addressed to local domain) as relaying.
< gateway4.lastspam.com #5.1.1 SMTP; 550-gateway4.lastspam.com [209.172.54.237]:36995 is currently not permitted to relay>
EXIM errors:
2007-05-19 09:39:32 H=gateway4.lastspam.com [209.172.54.237]:37074 I=[xxx.xxx.67.88]:25 F=<eslight@domain.com> rejected RCPT <test@xtdv.com>: gateway4.lastspam.com [209.172.54.237]:37074 is currently not permitted to relay through this server. Perhaps you have not logged into the pop/imap server in the last 30 minutes or do not have SMTP Authentication turned on in your email client.

I've been working on this for some time now, but I'm not sure on how the settings were transfered over to this server. I wish I was there when it was done.
Anyways, we got a new server and we transfered all the accounts to the new one. The old one is gone. When people send emails to their email accounts on the server, this is returned:
This is an automatically generated Delivery Status Notification
Delivery to the following recipient failed permanently:
admin@crewxp.com
Technical details of permanent failure:
PERM_FAILURE: SMTP Error (state 9): 550 relay not permitted ....

I checked everywhere and could find the fix i need so i hope you guys can help me out.
I often get this error when someone on my server tries to send an email:
=====
A message that you sent could not be delivered to one or more of its recipients. This is a permanent error. The following address(es) failed:
XXXXXXXX@XXXXX.com
Gid 99 is not permitted to relay mail, or has directly called /usr/sbin/exim instead of /usr/sbin/sendmail.
=====
Any clue on how i could fix this. If you need more info just tell me ill do my best to responde.

This is what I got from the tech support:
Quote:
I able to manage to mount your old var, tmp, usr, and even the old root partitions but the home partition were unsuccessful.
I've tried mounting your old home partition but i was unsuccessfull which might be a bad sector of the drive.
Code:
# mount /dev/ad3s1g /mnt/oldhome/
mount: /dev/ad3s1g: Operation not permitted

I've noticed that my site has delays every few seconds when using the database. At least 2-4 seconds. Now the load is 0.05 basically.
So I did a ping from my webserver to the db server and got:
PING 10.0.0.2 (10.0.0.2) 56(84) bytes of data.
64 bytes from 10.0.0.2: icmp_seq=1 ttl=64 time=0.138 ms
ping: sendmsg: Operation not permitted
64 bytes from 10.0.0.2: icmp_seq=3 ttl=64 time=0.086 ms
64 bytes from 10.0.0.2: icmp_seq=4 ttl=64 time=0.104 ms
ping: sendmsg: Operation not permitted
I then turned off iptables and it works fine now. How to know what's causing this?

I'm currently running SAMBA on one my linux servers, and wanting to connect to it from another linux server.
1. Do I need to install SAMBA on the connecting server (client-side)?
2. I can see/mount the SAMBA folder just fine, I can delete, make, etc. The only thing I can't do on the client side is change ownership of a file or folder... even if I'm logged in as root.

OS: CentOS 6.4 (Final)
After upgrading components as suggested by "Tools&Settings->Plesk->Updates and Upgrades" item, components remained the previous version (PHP 5.3.3 and MySQL 5.1.73) as stated by phpinfo() result and by "Tools&Settings->Server Management->Server Components" list, though "Update Components" is no more permitted as if there is nothing more to update.
I need both PHP and MySQL servers updated in order to run Joomla 3.3.6.

Sorry, resellers are not permitted to create subdomains of the server's main domain
My server domain is www.domain.com and reseller is trying to create a user account like new.domain.com . It was working fine a few weeks back but I think since I upgraded the cpanel and whm, it doesnt allow creation of accounts anymore.

I will wanted to know if hmailserver lets configure the quantity of outgoing emails it is permitted in an hour or minutes. I have found this:
hMailServer is pre-configured to have high security when it comes to relaying and authentication so that no one can use your server to send spam messages.
But I do not know if It refers to what I want or to an antihack or something like that to protect my server.

I send a few emails today and got a phonecall that people did not get my email. So I went into WHM and viewed "Top Email Relayers" There I saw my emails.
I am using WHM 11.11.0 cPanel 11.15.0
So what are Email Relayers?
How can I get my mails out of there so they can be send?

I have found a bunch of articles to setup Sendmail as a mail relay, but none have been successful for me or the articles are very outdated. Anyone have a 'stupid-proof' set of current instructions on how setup Sendmail Pop before SMTP? This is a CentOS 4.5 Box with Sendmail 8.14.2/8.13.1 and Dovecot. Any successful guidance would be appreciated!

Occasionally when sending an email to an international address, I receive a rejected notice:
550 5.7.1 Relaying denied. IP name forged (PTR and A records mismatch) for (serverIP)
Nothing was changed anytime recently so I'm not sure why this would happen. How would I trace this type of error? Its a legitimate outgoing mail from my server to the intl recipient.
SPF has been set since day one and unchanged.
The mail server IP has rdns set to it and has been for a long time.

I have a cPanel server with CSF installed.
Today I face a problem having SMTP Relay attack
I Enabled SMTP Tweak inside WHM and it prevent the relays
But I am still seeing a huge attack inside my exim_mainlog through one of the domain hosting in the server.
I Delete the domain DNS zone, Change the domain name server, it still doesn't stop the attack. How do I go with this? Need help for those experienced in this...
H=mail1.data393.net [208.42.234.80] F=<> rejected RCPT <305stevengan@techobceat.com>: mail1.data393.net [208.42.234.80] is currently not permitted to relay through this server. Perhaps you have not logged into the pop/imap server in the last 30 minutes or do not have SMTP Authentication turned on in your email client.
