View 2 RepliesI am trying to find out all the data centers that are out there in Orange county california, and Los Angeles, California? I can not find alot of them on the search engines, or in yellow books?
View 2 Replies View RelatedPreferably in the Irvine area.
Requirements are simple:
Two AC outlets
1U server
5 IPs
256kbps or 60GB transfer
No 24/7 support needed
No monitoring
Was paying $49/mo, but my rates were recently jacked up.
I was wondering if anyone knew a cheap colo that is in Southern California. I am hoping to be paying under $150 month (if possible) but no more than $200 month and I need something that allows atleast 3-4 TB of transfer/month (More would be a big plus).
I currently get colo for free with the company I work for but I won't be with them forever and I would like to have a backup plan if I have to ever move my server somewhere else.
Northern california and other places near socal (arizona, etc...) *might* be ok but I would really prefer somewhere that I can drive to if need be.
The server is a regular 1U server with two HD's with a conroe based xeon 2.4 GHz dual core processor. Its power consumption shouldn't be that high.
To be honest I would love to have it colo'd at a place like fdcservers.net as I had a really good experience with the 1.5 years or so I had a dedicated server with them before getting free colo at work but the one thing I didn't like was its in Chicago so latency is high (I like to run game-servers).
I don't have much experience with co-location although I have used a lot of dedicated servers so finding a dedicated provider isn't usually a problem for me.
Are they any decent Co-Location around Southern California?

View 4 Replies View RelatedDoes anyone own/operate or work at a datacenter in Southern California (Riverside County). I am looking for a place to possibly colo at and even work at, I just havent found any Southern California Data Centers besides La and San Diego, and I do not really want to drive to either. Also if anyone has wanted to start one in that area but hasnt found a partner, let me know, I may be interested in getting in on a deal with someone.
View 7 Replies View RelatedThe company that I work for in the recent year has made a few acquisitions. Doing so, means we now have clients all over the place, to be specific in multiple datacenters. We are now going to consolidate all of our servers into one location. The decision might have already been made but I would like to get some feedback. These are the top choices that our company was deciding on:
Savvis Irvine (OC2)
Savvis El Segundo
XO in irvine (hosting.com now actually)
ATT in irvine (we already have servers in this one)
Some of the datacenters we are in now:
ATT in Irvine (not bad)
Quest in Burbank
CorpColo (no comment)
Calpop (scary!)
Blacksun/OC3 (scarier than calpop)
And a few others I cannot remember. Regardless I believe this will be a big upgrade. So whatever information you can give me on the above four datacenters would be appreciated. Maybe if you know of any other top-notch datacenters in southern cali, let me know.
I require information regarding colo service providers near to San Jose, california.I require high bandwidth for my work so that would be a major concern and also the cost should be affordable. Does anyone have any direct experience with the colo providers there?

View 3 Replies View RelatedI signed up with Orangewebhosting.net a couple of months ago and as of today morning - my server is down, there is no support response and the mail I wrote to support@orangewebhosting.net bounced!
Delivery to the following recipient failed permanently:
support@orangewbehosting.net
Technical details of permanent failure:
PERM_FAILURE: DNS Error: Domain name not found
I was wondering if anyone else has the same issue - is there an issue with them or was this a complete scam and I got taken in? They had / have good cheap dedicated servers for $35 / month which is why i jumped at it but this outage is ridiculous!
I know this is like comparing apples to oranges but I've never been on a VPS.
So am wondering, given the following plans, which would you choose?
I mean, for $5 more, you get VPS, more bandwidth, more space.
A2 Hosting Core VPS (128mb) Hosting - $15/mth
A Small Orange Medium Shared Hosting - $10/mth
Assuming 2 wordpress blogs with 1000 uv/day.
How did A Small Orange get the name? Years ago Tim Dorr, owner/operator, used it as his AYM screen name. There's a great interview with him from 2005 here. Even have a look around if you want.
"A Small Orange" is an Atlanta based web hosting company with a great attitude. It began as my backup host for my web based voiceover site and now it is my main host. I first read about them on this forum where they came highly recommended. When I first joined they would only accept 25 new accounts a night to ensure the best customer experience.
It took me two nights to get mine and I'm still there. Don't worry, they haven't done that in years and you can sign up any time.
The first thing I check when selecting a new host are their forums. A Small Orange (ASO) has a very active one that has "support" members who post, and even Tim himself. "Pre-sales Questions" is a popular area.
Not that this takes the place of a superb tech support who won't quit until the problem is solved. I've found them to be very patient with folks who may not be the most tech savvy. That would be me. There is a thorough Knowledge base online as well as an ASO Wiki written by staff and customers. Plus, step by step demonstrations of CPanel functions. The only issue I've ever had happened a couple of weeks ago. I had a problem with a disappearing sub domain. It was a CPanel code problem. Tech support was nothing short of amazing.
Their plans are very reasonable. All have the same features. Even their "Tiny plan" with 75 MB of space and 3GB Bandwidth at $25 a year has all the features of their most expensive "Super plan" with 4500MB of space and 100GB Bandwidth. Turn any account (except Tiny) into a Reseller account for $5 more a month. You can easily upgrade or downgrade as needed. Plus there's ASO Extreme which is just for file sharing. No scripts, e-mail or Cpanel. But, you get 1500MB of space and 100GB Bandwidth for $20 a month.
As far as up time, I don't think my site has ever been down for longer than a few minutes. The time I caught it they were doing some server maintenance. I'm always on my site since one of my web pages is my browser start page. I've hosted two sites with them, one for me and one for a local band. They were on different servers and both had the same great performance and reliability. ASO's business concept is to not overload shared servers. Period. I can go online any time and check my hosts status from a web site and CPanel. If there's any problem it's corrected quickly.
ASO offers CPanel and the latest updates and features. I like to check my stats often and use a lot of subdomains. Latest Visitors and AWStats helps me keep tabs of things. It has everything you'd expect from CPanel.
Believe me, I'm no expert. But, I do recognize a friendly attitude and willingness to help when I see it. The most important thing is that my web site up and online. If it didn't work well and consistently, I wouldn't be there. If that ever changes you can bet I'll be the first to leave. So far I am very impressed with A Small Orange.
can you tell me of a few distribuitors/wholesale to get parts from for building a few 1U servers. I would like to find Supermicro cases/motherboards but if they are general computer parts I guess they work.
I know INGRAM Micro has a program to get discount or something, but haven't researched much about it.
Does anyone know if there are any locals in Orange county or Los Angeles that sell or reseller Supermicro built servers?
I know Apaq resells them but he is in Atlanta, I want someone local.
Or can I build them myself?
I have short-listed the hosting services I initially liked down to the following:
1. FatCow
2. An Hosting
3. Host Excellence
4. Netfirms
5. StableHost
6. A Small Orange
Which of them would be most suitable for me. I am about to start a small online business: two websites and a couple of blogs.
I am after proven reliability, 24/7 support, no down time and many resources (which most do anyway).
I host about 30 sites for clients who don't want to manage their own hosting. All of the sites are low-traffic. Almost all use FrogCMS or Wordpress /w minify and cacheing options. All of my clients use Google Apps for email.
I guess I'm looking for a reasonable host (nothing unlimited) more storage than ASO would be nice - I'm looking from something from $10-20 monthly and I can purchase for a year at a time.
Sharkspace, downtown host and host gator seem a little "dreamhost-like"... but have good reviews.
Also, I'm in Montreal so a datacenter on the east-coast would be nice
Is there a great webhost with their datacenter in California?

And the second would be more expensive? Saying the same number of rack, amount of bandwidth... Who is providing IP addresses then?

Are there any co-location companies in California (preferably northern) that have a peering agreement directly with Comcast?
Not sure if it's peering or transit I should be asking about. Basically I'm trying to get the best path I can afford to Comcast customers in California.
I live in Hawaii and half my sites serve Hawaii. Webhosts in Hawaii are really expensive. Does it matter where on the mainland US that I host my sites? Would they serve the fastest if I host them in California considering it's the closest to Hawaii?

View 6 Replies View Relatedto fire up a P4 in California to target Asia. GBLX or Sprint or AT&T transit is a must. The usage for this server would be a ~7mbps average with 5 hour daily bursts up to 20mbps(comes out to around 2300GB).
PacificRack seemed perfect for my needs, but won't answer sales emails...I've read good things, but i'm worried about signing up.
My budget is around $200, this shouldn't be a problem right?
2 Hosting Companies: One in California and One in NYC..

I've been out of the game for a while and now looking at colo prices each server is only allocated 0.5a on most plans.
I was looking at purchasing a 1u HP DL160 dual quad core system with at least dual sata raided drives
My question is what kind of amps would a system like this pull? and how much do data centers typically charge for that additional power if it needed over the .5
