I registered a couple domains on GoDaddy about 3 days ago and I spent around 200$ with the premium email packages and covering every .org, .net etc. there was available.. Anyways, I want to return this, but there's nothing I can find on the site for returning. Is there anybody here who has cancelled their registered domain purchases? I did it all via american express so its all electronic.

I am entering it in the correct place under 'Domain not registered here'. I think it would have something to do with my settings at 1and1 but I am lost

I'm now with a bit of a problem on my server. I tryied to add a new domain and I haven't counted how many domains I had on my server because I was thinking that plesk would warn me if I was reaching my limitation of domains, so I added a new one...
My license was for 10 domains, and now I have 11 domains so I'm getting an error when I enter my plesk panel. The error basically says that I exceeded the number of domains of my license so I have to buy a new one.
The problem is that when I want to click on the cancel operation button on the bottom of the page I'm constantly being logged out and I cannot cancel the operation, so I'm in a loop right now: "Log in -> get error -> Cancel -> Automatic log out -> Log in"
What can I do to delete one domain completely from my server?
In an environment where there is no webmail enabled for hosted sites and no sites have registered names (eg; they all belong in "our name space"), what is the affect of NAMED not running?
One affect that I have seen is with Site Scheduled Tasks that need URL resolutions. This appears to fail if Named is not running. All OTHER site content seems to work just fine. Apparently even in WordPress Multi-user/site situations.
I FULLY understand bind/named (and /etc/hosts, /etc/resolv.conf, /etc/nsswitch.conf), but it seems that it some cases, virtual hosted sites do not need Named (active) to function. This is NOT a case of incorrect DNS definitions created by Plesk for any hosted site.
SO - what is the "affect" of Named NOT running in a PLesk-12 Linux environment - not only for hosted sites but also the Plesk server itself?
Does GoDaddy support addon domains (like assigning www.domainname.com to a DIR on your site)?

View 14 Replies View RelatedI have a little question that I'm sure somebody more knowledgeable can answer. I had a hosting account with GoDaddy that just hosted my web site only. I had a few clients need hosting at the same time so I looked into upgrading my account to one that would host multiple domains. (this is my first time with multiple clients, can you tell?) I thought perfect! I can host all of my clients accounts from this one hosting account. I thought there would be multiple account interfaces to support this.
So when I get in there, it lets me add one of the domains I was working on and then I went to upload the files and apparently I had to upload the file to a directory off of my site. So newsite.com points to mysite.com/newsite.
I uploaded it just to test it out and when you go to newsite.com it shows in the address bar as newsite.com, not mysite.com/newsite, even though that is the directory path. I'm sure there's a name for this but I have no idea what it is so I wanted to explain my issue clearly.
So, I'm wondering, is this kosher? Is this bad to do or do a lot of people do this and will it affect my site? From what I've gathered so far, people only do this when they have multiple domains pointing to the same site, or am I wrong?
I've had this virtual server with Godaddy forever. I have about 52 websites on it. I was adding another and I walked through the registration process and forgot to click the save button. I then proceeded to the domain area of Godaddy to update the IP address. Now I can't add domains, delete dns settings, or update DNS settings without getting these kinds of messages:

So! Godaddy has now had me upgrade my disk space to another 10gig, I've tunneled in with ssh and ran memhog to increase memory because they are suggesting that I'm too low on RAM and want me to purchase another server, I can't just ugrade. I've updated all the packages in my simple control panel.
I finally got an email from them after begging for help, because $75 an hour is just too much for me!

You can attempt to manually update or recreate the DNS file via SSH. Unfortunately, we are unable to provide assistance with the configuration of the server or modification of files. While you do have a lot of domain names added to the server, a backup of the content and reprovision of the server will reset the server to the default settings. However, this will remove all content and require that you re-add all domains and content once again.
I have backed up all my sites and databases, but to start all over again is a horrific thought. I can't imagine the nightmare.
We are now Ltd and considering VAT registration.
Basically we are unsure if becoming VAT registered when you do not need to is all that it's cracked up to be, what are your thoughts on all this?
To my understanding you don't have to be VAT registered until you earn 60K+ per year. Therefore is it worth it in the webhosting industry, because if you have more clients that means more VAT you have to pay each period (after outgoing deductions).
If we are in the industry that VAT customers pay is more than the VAT we can claim back as a company, is it really worth the hassel etc when it is not needed?

I read that if you using more than 4GB you HAVE to use it, because it causes a huge overload into motherboard because it suck so much energy.

Just purchased a domain name and looking for hosting. Spent the last 2 nights reading reviews/complaints, but do not know which are genuine. Too many companies too pick from. Do not know which ones are good or to aviod.
I had a website with webhostingpad, but they couldn't get my webmail to work, so I cancelled. Apart from that, the service wasn't bad. Now hunting for a new web host.
Newbie, so don't need such big resources. Website is to promote a home school. A few pics and webmail that works is all I need. Site builder would be good too. Budget: about $5 a month. Location: Japan.
I have created a reseller account on my Cpanel dedicated and have 2 IPs to my customer to register them as name server. He has just done so. How can I make sure that he can use these new name servers on his customers' domains.
The name servers and the IPs are these:

All our email account on our server work fine ! (Cpanel/whm)
As soon as we create a new account on any domain name, and we try to send a test mail from any email address (hotmail, yahoo, our internet provider etc.. ) we get a bounce back email with the following:

I've read everything I can find in google and tried it all but I just can't get Return-Path / Envelope-From to change when using centos+cpanel+exim+php4 it insists on sending as nobody@server.VPShostname.com which several very picky email services will promptly bounce
I've tried the following:
1. inserted the "magical" fifth parameter into mail() on php making it -fuser@example.com
2. double checked php.ini to make sure php is using exim - it is:
sendmail_path/usr/sbin/sendmail -t -i
3. used cpanel's own advanced exim editor to add at the top of the exim conf
trusted_users = nobody
(which i don't like but at this point I'll accept any technique that works)
4. restarted all services, exim, php, apache
5. I even found an obscure reference to /etc/email-addresses which can contain a whitelist so I added the email address there

Server is a DC/AD. It has 2 IP's, both are static of course. the DNS Servers are manually added into the network configuration properties, as these are provided by the hoster.
i've entered the appropriate name servers
i bought the domain on name.com
how long does it take ? when i enter the domain name i registered, it just takes me to parking.php.....
i've contacted name.com support, but still no response.
I'm setting up a web site for my online music library, doing it the hard way and learning as I go!
What I want to do I keep all the audio files secure so only registered users can get at them, how do I do this? FTP? permissions? Can I pass the user data from the client database somehow or do I have to set it up manually for each client?
I'm using php and mysql and have a table set up with all the file locations in it and that side of things is mostly working well. Once a user gets the URL of the file how do I make sure only that user can download the file?

I recently purchased a dedicated server with Godaddy, I also registered a domain with same Godaddy.
Now when I tried to add a new domain in plesk, I got a warning message that "the domain is pointed to 192.198.XX.XX" which is different from my dedicated server IP. The message also says I should edit the DNS.
Now my question is What do I need to edit from the default dns plesk has assigned to my domain? Do I need to use the domain's default IP. I want to be able to host multiple website on my server...
I have a Plesk installation with Commandline access. Also on this server is a Request tracker installation. (The reason for the commandline access) CentOs 6 Server.
All installations are up to date, but this actually broke my installation after the last Plesk Upgrade.
At the last Plesk upgrade, my Request Tracker installation can no longer use sendmail to send email directly from the server.

When a PHP script is sending a mail, there is added an return path in mail header. How to change that mail address in return path?
We are using Postfix and CentOS 6.5
Plesk is setting the mail address of the owner of the hosting account. When changing the owners mail address in Plesk, the return path is still the same and is not updated...
I'm attempting to utilize the WordPress Toolkit. After clicking scan on a webspace with WordPress installed the panel returns the error "'plugin list' is not a registered wp command. See 'wp support'.".
I've tried it on a few servers that has the WordPress Toolkit installed, but they all return the same error.
I have parallel plesk 11.5 on my VPS hosting. Recently I upgraded the PHP version to 5.4 via Updates and Upgrades feature. Now, I am not able to change anything for any domain/website, it always shows me following error:
"Error: Unable to create or update the subscription: The PHP handler "fastcgi-5.4" is not registered. It was probably deleted from the server. Register a handler with the same properties and try again."
I tried creating a handler with same name in IIS but it didn't work. When I checked in "Server Components" the max PHP version is "PHP 5.3.28" but I see PHP 5.4 installed in C:ParallelsPleskAdditionalPleskPHP54 folder on the server.
When logged into the admin panel, I can manage all other domain except for one. When I try to manage this particular domain (which is our own domain rather than a client domain), it takes a while before returning page not found. In the logs, it's getting a high volume of the following error message:

I've tried attacking the issue through IIS. PHP appears to be configured correctly in IIS. I've looked at permissions. The website itself runs fine, I just can't manage the domain.
Another issue, which may be related, is when trying to access the PHP Manager in IIS for the PleskControlManager site, it gets an error stating that it can't find the php.ini file. I don't know if this is normal, or related.
