Registered A Couple Domains On Godaddy, Can I Return?
Aug 10, 2007I registered a couple domains on GoDaddy about 3 days ago and I spent around 200$ with the premium email packages and covering every .org, .net etc. there was available.. Anyways, I want to return this, but there's nothing I can find on the site for returning. Is there anybody here who has cancelled their registered domain purchases? I did it all via american express so its all electronic.

Feb 17, 2015In an environment where there is no webmail enabled for hosted sites and no sites have registered names (eg; they all belong in "our name space"), what is the affect of NAMED not running?
One affect that I have seen is with Site Scheduled Tasks that need URL resolutions. This appears to fail if Named is not running. All OTHER site content seems to work just fine. Apparently even in WordPress Multi-user/site situations.
I FULLY understand bind/named (and /etc/hosts, /etc/resolv.conf, /etc/nsswitch.conf), but it seems that it some cases, virtual hosted sites do not need Named (active) to function. This is NOT a case of incorrect DNS definitions created by Plesk for any hosted site.
SO - what is the "affect" of Named NOT running in a PLesk-12 Linux environment - not only for hosted sites but also the Plesk server itself?
Registered With 1and1, And Want To Host With Godaddy: How??
May 28, 2008I have already bought my package with godaddy, so I want to get started as quickly as possible. As I go to enter my blogs URL at godaddy so I can create it, it keeps telling my the selected domain is invalid?
I am entering it in the correct place under 'Domain not registered here'. I think it would have something to do with my settings at 1and1 but I am lost

Located near multiple major networks:
Our current host has been unavailable from certain parts of the Internet. Anonymous proxy shows the site isn't dead, just not responding to my location. The response time from ippatrol.co.uk is about 1.5 seconds. That's about average, right?
Litespeed:
I run WPMU (Wordpress Multi-User) with many add-on domains pointing to a single installation. Problem with WPMU is it makes extensive use of .htaccess. All user-uploaded files are actually parsed through a php script. That's why I'd prefer litespeed's .htaccess handling.
WHM/cPanel:
I don't want to be stuck with a host if they suddenly stop performing. I've heard horror stories about large cPanel transfers, so I'm planning to split this into 3-5 cPanel accounts. Also I want to download my own backups, and don't want to try a 1GB backup. I'm not planning on doing reselling.
2GB of space:
I've got MANY small blogs, but they're all low-traffic. The 2GB is for expansion purposes, and so I can do backups without overage. I should never hit this limit.

May 31, 2014I am trying to set up domains and subdomains, on my webserver, however the domains are resolving, but when accessing a subdomain I get a 500 internal server error, permissions on files are the same on both domain and sub domain level.
My virtual host files looks like this for domains and for the subdomains, and I am using Apache 2.4.7, on an ubuntu 14.04 running on a rackspace cloud server.
Domains:
<virtualhost *:80>
ServerAdmin mail@mail.mail
ServerName domain.com
ServerAlias www.domain.com
[Code] ....
Why it works on domains, and not the subdomains?
Plesk 11.x / Linux :: Login Redirects From Other Domains To Host Domain
Aug 1, 2014My problem is, when I attempt to access a seperate webspace's control panel login through webspace2.com:8443 it automatically redirects me to https://hostname.com:8443.
If however I go to https://webspace2.com:8443 this redirect does not happen and I can log straight in through this domain.
Ideally I need to keep these domains separate and need to remove this non-https redirect that is currently happening.
Plesk 12.x / Linux :: Postfix Configuration - Error Regarding Host Name And Virtual Domains
May 21, 2015I run a virtual server (Ubuntu 12.04, Plesk 12, Postfix 2.9.6) using plesk to manage multiple domains. The server address is server.domain1.com. I use plesk to also manage domain1.com regarding all services, including DNS and mail.
What I just found is that postfix sometimes issues the following warning:
server postfix/trivial-rewrite[7397]: warning: do not list domain server.domain1.com in BOTH mydestination and virtual_alias_domains
The essential part of my main.cf is:
myhostname = server.domain1.com
mydestination = localhost.$mydomain, localhost.localdomain, localhost
virtual_mailbox_domains = $virtual_mailbox_maps, hash:/var/spool/postfix/plesk/virtual_domains
virtual_alias_maps = $virtual_maps, hash:/var/spool/postfix/plesk/virtual
virtual_mailbox_maps = , hash:/var/spool/postfix/plesk/vmailbox
virtual_transport = plesk_virtual
And /var/spool/postfix/plesk/virtual_domains contains amongst others:
domain1.com domain1.com/
I do not have any issues with receiving or sending e-mails right now, but would like to get rid of the error message however.
Could it be the problem that postfix automatically sets mydomain to $myhostname with skipping the first part (i.e., mydomain is implicitly set to domain1.com)? Should I manually set mydomain to server.domain1.com instead? Any other recommendations? Since mydomain seems to be used in multiple options [URL] ..., I wonder what I might destroy with changing this? As all mail services run without any further troubles at the moment, I don't want to break this...
As I assume that quite some people use a plesk-based server to manage the domain to which the server itself belongs to, I would assume that there should be a general fix/check to updated mydomain accordingly?
VAT Registered
Sep 22, 2008We are now Ltd and considering VAT registration.
Basically we are unsure if becoming VAT registered when you do not need to is all that it's cracked up to be, what are your thoughts on all this?
To my understanding you don't have to be VAT registered until you earn 60K+ per year. Therefore is it worth it in the webhosting industry, because if you have more clients that means more VAT you have to pay each period (after outgoing deductions).
If we are in the industry that VAT customers pay is more than the VAT we can claim back as a company, is it really worth the hassel etc when it is not needed?

Domain Registered But Looking For Hosting
May 5, 2009Just purchased a domain name and looking for hosting. Spent the last 2 nights reading reviews/complaints, but do not know which are genuine. Too many companies too pick from. Do not know which ones are good or to aviod.
I had a website with webhostingpad, but they couldn't get my webmail to work, so I cancelled. Apart from that, the service wasn't bad. Now hunting for a new web host.
Newbie, so don't need such big resources. Website is to promote a home school. A few pics and webmail that works is all I need. Site builder would be good too. Budget: about $5 a month. Location: Japan.
When Do You Know Newly Registered Name Servers Can Be Used
Feb 5, 2007I have created a reseller account on my Cpanel dedicated and have 2 IPs to my customer to register them as name server. He has just done so. How can I make sure that he can use these new name servers on his customers' domains.

Server is a DC/AD. It has 2 IP's, both are static of course. the DNS Servers are manually added into the network configuration properties, as these are provided by the hoster.

Securing My Site So Only Registered Users Can Download Files
Nov 14, 2007I'm setting up a web site for my online music library, doing it the hard way and learning as I go!
What I want to do I keep all the audio files secure so only registered users can get at them, how do I do this? FTP? permissions? Can I pass the user data from the client database somehow or do I have to set it up manually for each client?
I'm using php and mysql and have a table set up with all the file locations in it and that side of things is mostly working well. Once a user gets the URL of the file how do I make sure only that user can download the file?
I've tried searching the web for info but I have the sneaking suspicion I'm not asking the right question.

Apr 25, 2014I recently purchased a dedicated server with Godaddy, I also registered a domain with same Godaddy.
Now when I tried to add a new domain in plesk, I got a warning message that "the domain is pointed to 192.198.XX.XX" which is different from my dedicated server IP. The message also says I should edit the DNS.
Now my question is What do I need to edit from the default dns plesk has assigned to my domain? Do I need to use the domain's default IP. I want to be able to host multiple website on my server...

May 1, 2015I have a Plesk installation with Commandline access. Also on this server is a Request tracker installation. (The reason for the commandline access) CentOs 6 Server.
All installations are up to date, but this actually broke my installation after the last Plesk Upgrade.
At the last Plesk upgrade, my Request Tracker installation can no longer use sendmail to send email directly from the server.
The errors I am getting are:

May 5, 2015I'm attempting to utilize the WordPress Toolkit. After clicking scan on a webspace with WordPress installed the panel returns the error "'plugin list' is not a registered wp command. See 'wp support'.".
I've tried it on a few servers that has the WordPress Toolkit installed, but they all return the same error.

Jan 23, 2014I have parallel plesk 11.5 on my VPS hosting. Recently I upgraded the PHP version to 5.4 via Updates and Upgrades feature. Now, I am not able to change anything for any domain/website, it always shows me following error:
"Error: Unable to create or update the subscription: The PHP handler "fastcgi-5.4" is not registered. It was probably deleted from the server. Register a handler with the same properties and try again."
I tried creating a handler with same name in IIS but it didn't work. When I checked in "Server Components" the max PHP version is "PHP 5.3.28" but I see PHP 5.4 installed in C:ParallelsPleskAdditionalPleskPHP54 folder on the server.

Dec 1, 2014When logged into the admin panel, I can manage all other domain except for one. When I try to manage this particular domain (which is our own domain rather than a client domain), it takes a while before returning page not found. In the logs, it's getting a high volume of the following error message:
Error: Unable to create or update the subscription: The PHP handler "fastcgi-5.3" is not registered. It was probably deleted from the server. Register a handler with the same properties and try again.
I've tried attacking the issue through IIS. PHP appears to be configured correctly in IIS. I've looked at permissions. The website itself runs fine, I just can't manage the domain.
Another issue, which may be related, is when trying to access the PHP Manager in IIS for the PleskControlManager site, it gets an error stating that it can't find the php.ini file. I don't know if this is normal, or related.
Parked Domains Over Addon Domains
Apr 18, 2008I have 2 wordpress blogs, and I'd like a few different domains to be shared on each of them.
Using some exemples, suppose I have domains from domainA.com to domainE.com. domainA.com is my main domain and the others are addon domains.
Today Blog1 is using blog.domainA.com, and domainB.com and domainC.com use WebRedirect to blog.domainA.com. And Blog2 uses domainD.com with WebRedirect on domainE.com too.
To access a post like /2008/02/02/this-is-a-nice-post, it is available only at blog.domainA.com, and not by domains B and C. I'd like they 3 to be able to access all posts directly, without redirecting to domain A.
To do that, I suppose I'd need to do some config on cPanel. And also on wordpress, even if I replicate it over other domains it insists to redirect to its configured domain.
I was thinking on the possibility of using symbolic link (ln -s) on their folders to blog.domainA.com folder, but I don't have access to shell on SSH so I'd like to know if it would work before trying.
In a real exemple of what I want, these domains all share the same phpBB forum: forumpcs.com.br, extremepc.com.br, forumdohardware.com.br.
Do u know if symbolic link would work to share the same wordpress? And how to make wordpress stop redirecting to blog.domainA.com?
How To Keep Email On Current Host And Forward Http Traffic To New Host
Apr 11, 2008I'm configuring a website for a client who has moved their web hosting to downtownhost, but is keeping their email hosting with their current provider. They do not want to configure an MX entry on DTH to autoforward email back to their current provider because they don't want their email to pass through DTH.
In order to do this, do I keep the nameserver entries on the current provider the same, and configure an http redirect to point to DTH? Or is there something else I should configure on the current provider?
How Important Is The Country The Host Is Based? Host Overseas?

Blue Host And Host Monster Is Operated By The Same People
Aug 3, 2008I was with Blue Host and their support and service was pretty bad. Servers going down all the time, and chat support was terrible. Then I moved to Host Monster and received the same kind of service/support. I later then figured out that Blue Host and Host Monster is runned by the same people. For example, I opened up a tech support ticket with Host Monster and then they replied signing their signature with Blue Host. So I got the same service: terrible tech support and servers kept going down. Now I'm looking for a new web hosting. I a few people here gave Host Gator some good reviews. I hope Host Gator is not run be the same people that runs Blue Host and Host Monster.
