Plesk 12.x / Linux :: Affect Of No Named - No Site Mail / Registered Domains

In an environment where there is no webmail enabled for hosted sites and no sites have registered names (eg; they all belong in "our name space"), what is the affect of NAMED not running?
One affect that I have seen is with Site Scheduled Tasks that need URL resolutions. This appears to fail if Named is not running. All OTHER site content seems to work just fine. Apparently even in WordPress Multi-user/site situations.
I FULLY understand bind/named (and /etc/hosts, /etc/resolv.conf, /etc/nsswitch.conf), but it seems that it some cases, virtual hosted sites do not need Named (active) to function. This is NOT a case of incorrect DNS definitions created by Plesk for any hosted site.
SO - what is the "affect" of Named NOT running in a PLesk-12 Linux environment - not only for hosted sites but also the Plesk server itself?
I am Using Plesk 12 and Centos ... I have moved my name server to my domain registrar and also moved my email.
I removed the webmail and the mail hosting and named and the result would be the Plesk Panel would also get removed automatically.
I restored the recent snapshot and I would like to disable the following services permanently or remove webmail, named and mail hosting service without affecting plesk panel.

I did chkconfig servicename off but it doesn't work.
I have a Plesk installation with Commandline access. Also on this server is a Request tracker installation. (The reason for the commandline access) CentOs 6 Server.
All installations are up to date, but this actually broke my installation after the last Plesk Upgrade.
At the last Plesk upgrade, my Request Tracker installation can no longer use sendmail to send email directly from the server.

I registered a couple domains on GoDaddy about 3 days ago and I spent around 200$ with the premium email packages and covering every .org, .net etc. there was available.. Anyways, I want to return this, but there's nothing I can find on the site for returning. Is there anybody here who has cancelled their registered domain purchases? I did it all via american express so its all electronic.
The VPS has 16 domains running on it, all with different web addresses and their own email accounts etc.
It's a Linux server and is running postfix for the mail. The main website on this domain has the mail service disabled because we have an exchange service on our own server here in the building where we work. Now when anyone on any of our domains on the VPS try to email us at 'maincompany.com' they get the following error message:

I'm attempting to utilize the WordPress Toolkit. After clicking scan on a webspace with WordPress installed the panel returns the error "'plugin list' is not a registered wp command. See 'wp support'.".
I've tried it on a few servers that has the WordPress Toolkit installed, but they all return the same error.
Plesk 12.0.18 on CentOS 6.5 using Postfix...i have configured outgoing mail control to have a limit on a domain. I have removed all entries from the server wide white list.This setting - Allow scripts and users to use Sendmail is unchecked.However I can send any number of messages using PHP's mail() command from a PHP script on the domain.I see this in the maillog:Error during 'limit-out' handler...But the email is sent and no limit is applied.
I have seen 1 vps provider having very poor ping results in few online ping sites and they have a very cluster slow loading pages as well.
One of my friend has a package with them, the ping results are very poor even for him as well. Just made an traceroute found its on some node1.vpsprovider.com
Ya, one more major important similarity noticed was, the vps provider emails weren't set properly to yahoo mail, and my friend's emails sent from the server to yahoo weren't delivered as well.
So if the vps provider has poor content may be due to firewall or internal settings do the systems under the node also be affected?
I have no problems with my host so nothing to be worried about, but need to help him as he is just starting it out with a cheaper vps
I'm setting up a web site for my online music library, doing it the hard way and learning as I go!
What I want to do I keep all the audio files secure so only registered users can get at them, how do I do this? FTP? permissions? Can I pass the user data from the client database somehow or do I have to set it up manually for each client?
I'm using php and mysql and have a table set up with all the file locations in it and that side of things is mostly working well. Once a user gets the URL of the file how do I make sure only that user can download the file?
I've tried searching the web for info but I have the sneaking suspicion I'm not asking the right question.
the DNS Server never resolves, i create one account on my server, i put the nameservers... about 6 Hours ago and nothing, i setup the Domain DNS and nothing, what can be? how i can fix this?
our company is ordering a new dedicated server and we are a little unsure what we should choose as far as the full hostname and nameservers of this one server.
This server will have a couple different websites on it, but really, there is only one BIG website on it... let's call it abcd.com.
While most would pick a hostname of host.abcd.com for instance, if at all possible, we would like the domain name part of the hostname to be something different than abcd.com. We own a domain name that doesn't point to anything yet (unuseddomain.com) and we were wondering if we could use that domain in our hostname.. host.unuseddomain.com.
And instead of using abcd.com as the domain name for our own nameservers (ie. ns1.abcd.com, ns2.abcd.com), we would like to again, use the unused domain name we own (unuseddomain.com) for the nameservers domain name: ns1.unuseddomain.com, ns2.unuseddomain.com.
So...
Will this work? Is this perfectly acceptable?
And lastly...
Since the one website we really care about on this server (the one we got the server for in the first place) is abcd.com, is using the unuseddomain.com for the hostname and nameservers (as above) a bad choice in anyway regarding email deliverability? I understand that mail ISP's (hotmail, yahoo, etc.) do all kinds of checks on hostnames (PTR), etc... and we want to make sure that we aren't hurting ourselves in anyway by using an "empty" domain name that we own as our hostname's and nameserver's domain name.
For instance, if we send mail from the abcd.com account, it will use mail.abcd.com (1.1.1.1) as it's outgoing mail server... Hotmail will see this... do a reverse-dns lookup on 1.1.1.1 and see host.unuseddomain.com. See what I'm saying? It all will work, but will it toss up red flags?
I've checked the firewall and FTP is allowed incoming, I added the passive ports to the firewall. Plesk shows the user in active connections, but when I connect to any domain I get an error that its not able to retrieve the directory. I am not sure if plesk just doesn't know what the directory is or if the main config messed up on the domain or sites level. I am running Plesk 12 on CentOS7.
I understand it is not possible to move a domain to another subscription, or to create a new subscription with an existing domain name.The problem I have is I wish to use a different IP address for a domain within a single subscription. I need to do this to establish SSL cert on one of the domains.
I have multiple domains on a single IP address and many require SSL Certificates.
I have enabled SNI in /etc/psa/psa.conf so it now says "SNI_SUPPORT true" as it was originally set to False. Setting this to TRUE then enabled the SSL option in 'Websites & Domains'.
I then purchased and installed the SSL Cert and activated it in the domain settings. On a dedicated IP address, this would work.
When I checked the certificate. it was not using the assigned SSL cert, instead it was using the Servers default certificate (plesk) that is assigned to the shared IP address.
When I check, I get the error message: "[warn] RSA server certificate CommonName (CN) `plesk' does NOT match server name"
I then rebooted the server and it made no difference. I changed the domain to a spare dedicated IP address, and the SSL Cert was certified correctly (it used the correct SSL Cert). When I changed it back to the shared IP address, it reverted back to the shared IP address' SSL cert. So the new SSL Cert was being ignored.
For info: currently running 11.0.9 on Centos 5 and I'm testing this with latest IE, FF, Chrome so it accepts TLS Server Name Indication.
I recently purchased a dedicated server with Godaddy, I also registered a domain with same Godaddy.
Now when I tried to add a new domain in plesk, I got a warning message that "the domain is pointed to 192.198.XX.XX" which is different from my dedicated server IP. The message also says I should edit the DNS.
Now my question is What do I need to edit from the default dns plesk has assigned to my domain? Do I need to use the domain's default IP. I want to be able to host multiple website on my server...
A load of my domains were backed up last night and they have been suspended ever since. I have tried the following:
1. Domains -> Backup Manager -> Back Up 2. tick off the box to the left of "Suspend domain until backup task is completed" 3. Tick off the box to the left of "Domain configuration" 4. Click "Back Up".
...That did not fix it
I've tried suspending/activating the domains, but I just receive "Error: Unable to activate the domain: The domain is suspended."
I've also logged into MySQL PSA database and run "update domainaliases set status=0 where status=2;" ...That did not fix it
I have checked and /var/www/vhosts/domain.com/conf/httpd.include file is missing.
I have also run the following command: /usr/local/psa/admin/sbin/httpdmng --reconfigure-all
That did not fix it
if I try "/usr/local/psa/bin/domain -u mydomain.com -status enabled" I receive the following error message...
An error occurred during domain update: Turn on domain failed: /usr/share/tomcat5/conf/server.xml:1451: parser error : Extra content at the end of the document vice> tomcatmng: Unable to parse tomcat server config /usr/share/tomcat5/conf/server.xml
Impossible to find a way to show, by default, all domains and websites...
When I log on the Plesk Admin, I come first on a list of websites and domains, but they are not «all» listed. I have to go to the full bottom of the page to click on «Show all».
I didn't find a preference or anything else to change that, and I don't understand why all domains are not listed.
I would like my clients only to be able to access Plesk Panels from a certain domain, instead all from or with all the domains hosted on our server, is there a way to accomplish that?
I have installed the nginx on my server and want to activate it for all my domains, to do this, i have to do it manually for each domains. But there should be an easier way. Apache uses too much ram.
I need to transfer all of my domains to a new server is there an easy solution to avoid manually backing up all the files, databases create new subscriptions,domains etc Also i will have to perform the same task for a local development machine which has already plesk 12 install (debian 7.8)
So in summary Plesk 11.5 (centOs 5.6) => Plesk 12 (debian 7.8)
I have a virtual server linux with Strato. When I have upgrade from 11.5 to 12.0.18 in spanish I have seen that I can´t add a new domain in power user. The user has ilimited domains and I have less that 10 domains. I see the buttom of "add domain" as in 11.5 and appears all the fields to complete, but there is not buttom to accept o decline. There is no problem with alias or subdomain. I have reinstall 11.5 and dissapeared the problem, but when I upgrade again to 12.0 this buttom doesn´t appear.
Unfortunately today the mailboxes of two domains were "gone". The mailbox was still there physically but no mails would be delivered into the mailbox, nor could the user connect to it.

The only solution that worked for me was to delete the mailbox, create it again and copy the old mails back. That problem only occured in two cases (two domains of one customer). All his other domains worked like a charm and no other customer was affected.
I have a server which I am using for multiple clients. Some with SSL enabled, some without. I have added custom ngingx conf files for nginxDomainVirtualHost.php and nginxWebmailPartial.php in /usr/local/psa/admin/conf/templates/custom and modified the following lines to try and harden security:
I check in /etc/nginx/plesk.conf.d/vhosts/<domain>.conf and the changes are shown correctly there but browsers and online tools such as [URL] .... still say that the sites are using 128 bit encryption and TLS 1.0.
The Plesk admin panel itself displays 256 bit encryption and TLS 1.2.
When I log into plesk (service provider view) and click on the Domains link on the left, I get an empty page. It isn't blank like there is an error, it has some instructions at the top about creating a customer etc. It just doesn't list any of the domains that are setup on the server. There are several reseller accounts with several domains under each. I've even tried setting up a new customer and adding a domain under the new customer. Still nothing shows up.
I have several other VPS accounts running Plesk 12 with several domains under different customer accounts and the domains all show up on those.
