My Godaddy VPS Is Giving Me These Errors. Can't Register, Delete Domains Or

Jun 3, 2009

I've had this virtual server with Godaddy forever. I have about 52 websites on it. I was adding another and I walked through the registration process and forgot to click the save button. I then proceeded to the domain area of Godaddy to update the IP address. Now I can't add domains, delete dns settings, or update DNS settings without getting these kinds of messages:

Your URL: /dns/sync.do

So! Godaddy has now had me upgrade my disk space to another 10gig, I've tunneled in with ssh and ran memhog to increase memory because they are suggesting that I'm too low on RAM and want me to purchase another server, I can't just ugrade. I've updated all the packages in my simple control panel.
I finally got an email from them after begging for help, because $75 an hour is just too much for me!

This is what I got:

Dear Sir/Madam,

Thank you for contacting Server Support.

If this issue started after the modifications to the DNS of a domain, then it is likely that the DNS file or configuration has become corrupted. You can attempt to manually update or recreate the DNS file via SSH. Unfortunately, we are unable to provide assistance with the configuration of the server or modification of files. While you do have a lot of domain names added to the server, a backup of the content and reprovision of the server will reset the server to the default settings. However, this will remove all content and require that you re-add all domains and content once again.

I have backed up all my sites and databases, but to start all over again is a horrific thought. I can't imagine the nightmare.

Best Host For A Blog Site- Register With 1&1 And Host With Godaddy

May 27, 2008

with this being my first website goddady's website tonight or there blog site plan seem pretty good as I do not know how to build a professional looking website nor do I have a knowledge of HTML. Are there other hosts that offer better services such as these?

Also I would want to register with 1&1 as to register privately is free but with godaddy it costs around $15 and I've heard of godaddy stealing persons domains when they haven't even expired yet i.e. familyAlbum.com?

Is it allowed for instance to register my domain name with 1&1 and host my site with godaddy?

Registered A Couple Domains On Godaddy, Can I Return?

Aug 10, 2007

I registered a couple domains on GoDaddy about 3 days ago and I spent around 200$ with the premium email packages and covering every .org, .net etc. there was available.. Anyways, I want to return this, but there's nothing I can find on the site for returning. Is there anybody here who has cancelled their registered domain purchases? I did it all via american express so its all electronic.

Hosting Multiple Domains On The Same Account With GoDaddy

Jul 22, 2008

I have a little question that I'm sure somebody more knowledgeable can answer. I had a hosting account with GoDaddy that just hosted my web site only. I had a few clients need hosting at the same time so I looked into upgrading my account to one that would host multiple domains. (this is my first time with multiple clients, can you tell?) I thought perfect! I can host all of my clients accounts from this one hosting account. I thought there would be multiple account interfaces to support this.

So when I get in there, it lets me add one of the domains I was working on and then I went to upload the files and apparently I had to upload the file to a directory off of my site. So newsite.com points to mysite.com/newsite.

I uploaded it just to test it out and when you go to newsite.com it shows in the address bar as newsite.com, not mysite.com/newsite, even though that is the directory path. I'm sure there's a name for this but I have no idea what it is so I wanted to explain my issue clearly.

So, I'm wondering, is this kosher? Is this bad to do or do a lot of people do this and will it affect my site? From what I've gathered so far, people only do this when they have multiple domains pointing to the same site, or am I wrong?

Host Not Giving Me The Hardware I Ordered

May 29, 2008

I didn't want to say anything bad about this Host, because the staff is very friendly, but people need to be warned incase they didn't get what they ordered either.

I ordered a server with a hotswappable RAID, and got a the welcome letter a few days later. The welcome letter didn't have my root password or my IP address range. So, I emailed asking for that. Then I started wondering if they missed anything else because the welcome letter nor their client area lists the server specs. So I asked if they have my the correct hardware.

They said No, and will give me a monthly credit and the correct hardware for the inconvience. It was a new server and wasn't a big deal to me.

But then I wondered if they did the same to the server I ordered like 40 days ago. So I asked and they said they messed up my hardware on that order too. That server is already up and running with sites on it.

The host is AxisHost , I know many people here recommend them, thats why I chose them, but this seems like it may be happening a lot with them.

Apf Firewall Giving Iptables: Invalid Argument

Oct 27, 2006

I have a Virtuozzo VPS running Debian Sarge. I installed apf. My /etc/apf/conf.apf looks like:

IFACE_IN="venet0"
IFACE_OUT="venet0"
SET_MONOKERN="1"
IG_TCP_CPORTS="21,22,53,80,443,25,465,110,995,143,993,137,139,445,10000,3306"
IG_UDP_CPORTS="53"

Am am getting several "iptables: Invalid arguments" message. I traced this to these iptables calls from within /etc/apf/firewall. Each of these iptables calls gives "iptables: Invalid arguments":

/sbin/iptables -A INPUT -i venet0 -p tcp --tcp-flags ALL NONE -j IN_SANITY

/sbin/iptables -A INPUT -i venet0 -p tcp --tcp-flags SYN,FIN SYN,FIN -j IN_SANITY

/sbin/iptables -A INPUT -i venet0 -p tcp --tcp-flags SYN,RST SYN,RST -j IN_SANITY

When I execute the job, it complains about date and mysqldump not existing. I was able to fix the date problem simply by copying it from the actual /bin to the chrooted /bin. However, I can't simply copy mysqldump because it depends on several libraries. Anybody know how I can give this chrooted user access to commands that aren't in his chroot?

Email Errors - 550 Callback Errors

Feb 13, 2007

I'm noticed I was getting bounced email errors from a company I was sending email through and I further investigated this by running a dnsreport on my domain.

Turns out that it fails at Acceptance of NULL <> sender, Acceptance of postmaster address, and Acceptance of abuse address. The domain that I ran a test on is using a new IP that I had recently added to my Direct Admin server. None of the other domains on my server are having issues like this.

Is is possible that I need to do something to enable these new IP addresses in exim? I mean, exim obviously responds to that IP address, but it seems to be having some issues with it.

Register Your Nameservers

Dec 6, 2006

i have started moving domains from Cpanel/whm server to my HSphere server that uses a new nameserver, but have come up against problem with the new NameServer.

When moving .biz .info i get error about nameserver not being resgistered, after doing some seaching it appears that some domain resgistrars (in this case 123reg) are starting to enforce a security feature whereby All registrars need the name server registered before you can point any domain name to the name server.

Diggin further i found this at stargate.com which where i have my HSphere service domain:

1.

Registering a Child Name Server as mentioned above is just the first step. The Child Name Server needs to be registered at the Registry to only serve as a non-authoritative Record should your Child Name Server not be resolvable in some extreme condition.

This Name Server would start working only after you have added an Address (A) Record or Canonical (CNAME) Record for this Name Server within the Zone for the domain name (of this Child Name Server) at your own DNS Server, thus binding the NS to the IP Address.

Examples

i. If you are running your own DNS Servers then you would need to add a Zone for the domain name your-domain-name.com and create an A Record like

ns1.your-domain-name.com. 38400 IN A 111.222.333.444

ii. If you wish to simply point your Name Servers to another Name Servers, you may add a CNAME Record to those (while ensuring that those Name Servers have an A Record within the Zone created for your Name Servers as well).

ns1.your-domain-name.com. 38400 IN CNAME ns1.service-provider.com

Also at ns1.service-provider.com there should be an Zone for your-domain-name.com with an A Record for ns1.your-domain-name.com, making it authoritative for resolving your-domain-name.com.

In most cases your ISP would have already created the above for you and you need not bother about the same.

My service domain, and one i am using for nameservers, HSphere dns settings looks like

Name TTL Class Type Data Action
cp.mydomain.net 86400 IN A 85.264.15.83 Click to delete
ns1.mydomain.net 86400 IN A 85.264.15.84 Click to delete
ns2.mydomain.net 86400 IN A 85.264.15.85 Click to delete
web.mydomain.net 86400 IN A 85.264.15.86 Click to delete
mail.mydomain.net 86400 IN A 85.264.15.87 Click to delete
mysql.mydomain.net 86400 IN A 85.264.15.88 Click to delete

So from what i tell i have furfilled critria?

I have to say i am a little confused over this!

I am thinking that maybe i have to make some changes at stargate.com or maybe get my co-lo provider to make changes?

Register Good Domain Names

Oct 13, 2008

I found good domain available names and when I tried to register using some webhosting companies they were first shown as available and in the next step of registration they were claimed to be taken. It does not happen with "not so good" names.
I think it happened with whois.net and register.com

So it looks like there is no way to register a good name?

Even when checking whois may have your good domain name stolen.

Can someone comment this and share his/her experience.

Which regetar and whois companies can I use safely?

Turn On Register Globals For An Account

Default PHP Version (.php files) 5
PHP 5 Handler cgi
PHP 4 Handler none
Suexec on

Selected php5 handler to be CGI through WHM . Did not choose mod_suphp while compilation.

I have set register_globals off server-wide through WHMs php configuration editor. Now need to activate it for one account. I have tried :

# creating php.ini file at the required folder with register_globals on
# adding several combinations php_flag, php_admin_value, php_value etc with register_globals as seen from several posts here at the .htaccess file at the required folder.
# adding it to httpd.conf

Every time, the phpinfo page shows the loaded configuration file as /usr/local/lib/php.ini and register_globals is Off.
