Pop Failed :: CPanel POP Services - All My Servers
pop failed @ Thu May 1 00:38:11 2008. A restart was attempted automagically. Its been happening from around 00:00 GMT 30th April/1st May. All my servers are spamming me with these, not just one. All are set to auto update on STABLE build. Anyone else having these issues? cPanel and their nasty bug releases I suppose. Even after paying them a premium price and recognizing them as a premium control panel provider!

If you have a socket F m/b, does a socket 940 heatsink works nicely on a socket F m/b? I can fit the original socket 940 heatsink on a socket F m/b but I am not sure whether there are any cooling related problems? POP Does Authenticate But IMAP Does!
I am setting up a VPS / Linux server, created an account, and set up an email account. However, when I attempt to access the email account via. pop3, either the email account or pw is not accepted. However, I can access the same email account via. IMAP. Also, I can telenet into the pop3 system, but not log into the account, and I can access the account via. WEBMAIL. I set up the account with WHM/CPanel. Is there some required setting to activate or setup the pop3 system?

External Pop Email
One of my customer using google apps for his domain. He also fetch external emails using google mail solution. Problem is all of his email accounts email fetched but his ISP email give error. I check and found if he didn't use that ISP, Outlook also not check email and give error. Only he can check email when he logon on net with that ISP. on webmail he can check using ISP site. Any other webmail services provider like mail2web.com not able to check emails. Can any one recommend how I can bypass their ISP restriction security.

Php Files Pop-up Sometimes

Disabling POP And IMAP On CPanel
Disabling POP and IMAP on cPanel We're using Google Apps to handle all e-mail for the domain, so we have no need for POP and IMAP services running on our server (and I'm always getting e-mails from LFD that show bots are trying to connect with random passwords and such) so I want to disable them, but keep SMTP active since some scripts running on our server use it and I don't feel like rewriting them right now. I unchecked IMAP and POP in the WHM service manager to disable them, but it's still enabled and I'm able to connect and everything. How can I completely disable these 2 services?

Website Pop Up Issues On Server
I am having pop-ups issues on my website. Previously I tried to solve it out but wasn't able to because due to 64 bit of Windows 2003 most of the softwares were having compatibility issues. But now when I have switched the server to 32-bit, on the new server, the website is still having the pop-ups. I have tried a couple of softwares to detect them, but in vain. Exim Smtp-after-pop Authentication
I use Exim + Dovecot for my mail server. We can get mails through pop3 protocol without a problem, but when we try to send mails, exim does not permit relay. My passwords are stored in a mysql database for dovecot. Is it possible for exim to do authentication based on that? If it will be easier, i can create a text file with md5 passwords on it for my users.

I got rvskin with whm and it seems whm create account for itself.But every time when i load whm i getting popup with error Hostname A Entry Missing! The server was unable to lookup an an A entry for its hostname (ns175.domain.com). This is generally because the entry was never added. However this could also be the result of your nameserver(s) being down. If you would like to attempt to automatically add the entry, And i am sure i have that A entry.Any idea why is that happening ?

POP Server Error After Apache Update
I run a dedicated server with WHM/cPanel (10.8.0). I was recently supposed to update the Apache installation to add a module, but instead of clicking "load previous config" I clicked on "start build" by mistake. This brought the installation back to default. I waited till the build was finished and then added all the modules I could remember having installed earlier. This made Apache not wanting to start. I went back to the default and then recompiled apache over and over again, adding 1 o 2 modules every time. Apache booted up fine, but for some reason my mail is suddenly acting up. I keep getting the following error on one of my domain in my client: Code: Unable to connect to POP server mail.example.com. Error sending password: -ERR Maildir invalid (no 'cur' directory) When I click OK, I get: Code: Unable to connect to POP server mail.example.com. Error sending password: Operation now in progress I have a couple of other accounts in the mail client. None of them are receiving mails, even though I can see that there are new mails present in the mailbox via webmail. My exim is configured to use mbox as far as I know. So I don't understand why I'm getting an invalid maildir message.

I'm trying to block all out going on ports that dont have a service binded to them to prevent back connects, and i have the following allowed in CSF: ports with nothing binded to them: not sure what these are but nothing seems to be listening on them so i removed them. 37,43 do i need 53 open on TCP? 53 whats 113 for? 113 cpanel? does it need to be allowed out? 2087 EDIT: UDP I have 20,21 in/out, are they needed?

My POP services keep failed daily between 10am-4pm central time. Rather strange. However, sometimes some people can't access pop services, while others still can. Apache And Socket
I've a strange problem with my flashchat realized on php and xmlsocket. I premise that chat works fine with 100 concurrent user. But When the number rises, and I've been to 350 users at the same time, something happens to the server which makes the whole thing freeze. After I eliminated just about everything that can go wrong with the php side of things, we came to the conclusion that this must be something related to the apache, since if before the php socket server went bad on account of an error, we simply needed to relaunch the php again, and everything would start up and work just fine untill the next crash. We have a unix server, using Apache 2, php 4.something or 5 (but again, problem is not there), did anyone knows what this could be? are we passing some limit of sockets connections Apache has that we don't know about? a limit of data transfer we are breaking? my script, when running and holding on to 300 users, use about 2-3 Mbit of bandwidth, nothing to get excited about.

i have this couple of windows 2003 servers, colocated in data center, i need to improve download speeds to our customers who are at least 200ms away, the end user is not using download accelarator, is there a way that any settings to be done on server so that per thread speed can be increased, this case the server and client both have the ability to make a connection at more than a megabit speed. i did some search but all the articles point to end user and not the server saying to increase tcp window size etc.. not sure if those articles relate to server side changes.

Exchange Server - POP 3 Connector To Direct Receipt Email Config
I have a 2003 SBS server with about 50 users on exchange. It is a standalone DC - all the users connect with 'profiles' and 'docs' on the server and use exchange thru outlook..when they leave the office they VPN in and exchange works like a charm. Problem is for a quick setup I've used the POP 3 connector and kept the emails hosted on my server - I want to get rid of the POP3 connector setup altogether and have mail delivered directly to the server. Can someone give me a walk thru of steps to do this - so far I have fgured out that I have to add the domain to the recipient policy - configure it properly and then setup each user to receive email for that username and it will just work.... I want to be sure and was hoping that someone who has done the same thing could point me to an accurate tutorial of sorts.

Grsec Kernel = No Tcp Traffic
Tried building a grsec patched kernel as I don't fancy getting that rootkit thats going around for a second time it was linux-2.6.23.9 which was the latest one there was a grsec patch for. compiled ok as a monolithic kernel however on reboot I was not able to get anything but a ping from the server, Figured that the kernel had paniced and not booted. However the tech who rebooted the server for me and selected the other kernel (a standard centos kernel) said that the system had booted but was not responding to tcp traffic. So its either a case of 1) I missed something important when configuring the kernel. 2) perhaps a problem with APF it does warn enabling Monolithic kernel support is unsupported in the config file (although it seems to work fine with the centos stock kernel)... I'm wandering what the best next course of action is i'd quite like to be able to run a kernel that doesn't allow write access to /dev/kmem if possible.

What Is Best Socket Am2 940 Cpu
I am working on doing some various upgrades to my workstation computer. I got it back in Nov and have been adding to it every since. The motherboard was bad when I first got it so I had to buy a new one. I already had an athlon 5600 so I figured I would get the mobo for that. Upon advice from various people I got the abit kn9 sli, for socket am2 940 processors and nvidia nforce 570 sli mcp I am wanting to upgrade the processor now but I havent really found much info on what would be the highest level processor I could drop in. I know the phenoms dont work and some have told me that the athlon 6400 would be the biggest i could drop in but that isnt much more then I have now so would be no point. Selling A 4 Socket Enterprise Server
I have a somewhat unusual question for a hosting forum, but it seems to fit here reasonably well. I figure that anyone who does colo would know about buying and selling servers. Right now, I have a very high-end system, basically a Sun V40z: [url] It is fully configured with processors, memory, but only has a single hard drive currently. The system comes with a built in management processor and OS; from the console you can boot/restart the server, check which DIMMs or processors are working (or failed), etc. It has been barely used, and is in mint condition. Ip_masq_new(proto=TCP): No Free Ports
I have a rather serious issue that is causing us a lot of bother and embarrassment and would really appreciate some opinions on why it might be happening... We have 5 linux servers in one of our racks protected by a Watchguard firewall. 2 web servers, 2 database servers and an smtp relay server. This setup has been running without a hitch for well over a year now but both last night and the night before we have been getting the following message appear in the firewall logs: ip_masq_new(proto=TCP): no free ports This causes very strange results for our HTTP and HTTPS services, with images not loading and some ip based virtualhosts not working at all (although some still do). It seems other services like SNMP are not affected by this (even though they are NAT'ed too) although SSH stops working completely. Both times this has happened a restart of the firewall has resolved the situation. I've done a bit of research on the error and it seems to suggest that one of the internal servers is making an awful lot of outgoing requests although... a) I cannot see any traffic spikes in our Cacti monitoring tool b) How many requests is considered 'a lot'?

Missing Data In Server Socket Application
i developed a socket application to recive data from port.this application recvng data from a unit through port no 4444(Vehicle Tracking unit). this application recvng data and evrything is ok....but some times no anydata is coming in to this application.for eg:if application recves data 2 days after that 2 days it will recve one or two data only....again after 2 days it will recve all data correcly....that means lot of missing data we have....my question is whether this missing data is bse of my socket application or unit? The manufacturing company telling us unit is sending the data continuiously..but some times this socket application is not recvng data in 2 days interval....i dont know how to solve this issue....is any other setting is required in server to recve data continuously.... i think socket application 100% is ok...unit maufactures telling unit also sending data continuously...then where the problem is???can anybdy share ur idea about this?

a tool that can measure how much packet loss we are having on a given server by looking at the packets being sent from it. I.e, something than looks at all TCP/80 connections and measures how many packets and bytes are being retransmitted vs actual packets and bytes sent. [L] Connection lost: 64,85,164,21 i really do not no there's a command for passive mode or something in proftpd.conf can't seem to find it no where!
