PHP Socket Server
Is there anywhere where I can run a php socket server that is not a dedicated server.
I doubt that there is, but you never know maybe out there somewhere there is someone that allows this.

Socket F <-> Socket 940 Heatsinks
If you have a socket F m/b, does a socket 940 heatsink works nicely on a socket F m/b? I can fit the original socket 940 heatsink on a socket F m/b but I am not sure whether there are any cooling related problems? Selling A 4 Socket Enterprise Server
I have a somewhat unusual question for a hosting forum, but it seems to fit here reasonably well. I figure that anyone who does colo would know about buying and selling servers. Right now, I have a very high-end system, basically a Sun V40z: [url] It is fully configured with processors, memory, but only has a single hard drive currently. The system comes with a built in management processor and OS; from the console you can boot/restart the server, check which DIMMs or processors are working (or failed), etc. It has been barely used, and is in mint condition. I'm thinking about selling it, because I'd prefer a smaller, more compact server. Where do you guys go to sell servers? Based on listings here, the server seems to sell in the range of 20K, with a warranty of sorts (30 days): [url] Obviously, I can provide no warranty, but I have pretty much the same configuration. It's meant to be a pretty high-end database server, and I just don't need this many horsepower.

Missing Data In Server Socket Application
i developed a socket application to recive data from port.this application recvng data from a unit through port no 4444(Vehicle Tracking unit). this application recvng data and evrything is ok....but some times no anydata is coming in to this application.for eg:if application recves data 2 days after that 2 days it will recve one or two data only....again after 2 days it will recve all data correcly....that means lot of missing data we have....my question is whether this missing data is bse of my socket application or unit? The manufacturing company telling us unit is sending the data continuiously..but some times this socket application is not recvng data in 2 days interval....i dont know how to solve this issue....is any other setting is required in server to recve data continuously.... i think socket application 100% is ok...unit maufactures telling unit also sending data continuously...then where the problem is???can anybdy share ur idea about this?

This is on a Debian VPS with Apache installed. I figured this forum would be more appropriate because I think this is an OS level issue. I'm running a basic php client / php server. The php script is requested by the web browser and connects to the php server on the backend. Apache And Socket
I've a strange problem with my flashchat realized on php and xmlsocket. I premise that chat works fine with 100 concurrent user. But When the number rises, and I've been to 350 users at the same time, something happens to the server which makes the whole thing freeze. After I eliminated just about everything that can go wrong with the php side of things, we came to the conclusion that this must be something related to the apache, since if before the php socket server went bad on account of an error, we simply needed to relaunch the php again, and everything would start up and work just fine untill the next crash. We have a unix server, using Apache 2, php 4.something or 5 (but again, problem is not there), did anyone knows what this could be? are we passing some limit of sockets connections Apache has that we don't know about? a limit of data transfer we are breaking? my script, when running and holding on to 300 users, use about 2-3 Mbit of bandwidth, nothing to get excited about.

Php Includes Issue On Linux Server With Apache 2.0.63 / Php 5.2.6
I am having some trouble with getting 'include' working. I have a new dedicated server running Apache 2.0.63 and PHP 5.2.6. Local includes on the same domain are running ok, but remote includes are throwing a problem. On the many sites we plan to host on this servber we use a central 'webmaster' page called as an include from a specific site (also on the same server). I need to edit the PHP.ini and /or recompile the PHP with the appropriate modules to do one of the following... 1 (ideally) - allow includes from any site that is held on this dedicated server 2. allow includes from specified websites 3. simply allow remote includes right settings to get one of these options running and solve my problem?

What Is Best Socket Am2 940 Cpu
I am working on doing some various upgrades to my workstation computer. I got it back in Nov and have been adding to it every since. The motherboard was bad when I first got it so I had to buy a new one. I already had an athlon 5600 so I figured I would get the mobo for that. Upon advice from various people I got the abit kn9 sli, for socket am2 940 processors and nvidia nforce 570 sli mcp I am wanting to upgrade the processor now but I havent really found much info on what would be the highest level processor I could drop in. I know the phenoms dont work and some have told me that the athlon 6400 would be the biggest i could drop in but that isnt much more then I have now so would be no point. Server To Server Transfers Via PHP
I have two servers; server 1 is running PHP, whereas server 2 is not. The servers are directly connected to the web and although there is only a 2ms latency between them, they are in different data centres. I need to transfer files from server 1 to server 2 on demand via PHP. I would prefer not to install PHP on server 2. The files are not sensitive data so security is not a major concern. What would be the best way of doing this? Some of my initial thoughts are: - Create an FTP user on server 2 and use PHP's FTP functions to transfer the files via FTP. - Mount a directory that's somehow transparently mapped to server 2; server 1 would simply copy the files to the directory and the transfer would take place in the background. (Similar to mounted CIFS/Samba shares?) - Start an SFTP transfer with public keys via PHP.

PHP On Windows Server
I'm about to deploy a site that needs ASP for the main application, but my client would like to use phpBB for their forum. I initially thought we'd have to get two hosts, one Windows and one Linux. But in doing some research, I see that some Windows hosting providers also provide PHP, and I am aware that PHP can be installed to run on IIS. My question is: is PHP under Windows any different that PHP under Linux? Are there any weird work-arounds that have to be dealt with? Or is it simple and straight-forward?

One one of our (linux) servers spammers are king. they apparently can control anything and place spam links throughout the files. For example spammer inserts Iframes either above or below HTML tags. (some step57 related type of virus/trojan as it seems) Our programmer did not find where the problem is in our applications, yet he is not a security expert. Our server admin company made us install phpuexec, we apparently have been checked on the server end and have mod_security, but we still don't know what's going on...spam continues.

Windows 2003 server with the latest updates PHP v5.2.0 I have the following setup: In... D:FTPRootData there are logons names in there which is linked to their account, i.e. when they log on via FTP, they go straight to their directory, i.e. D:FTPRootDataUSERNAME Each directory have the security set to their own account, i.e. USERNAME (SERVERUSERNAME) Recently, one of the user did something naughty and wrote an code where they can see someone else's directory and put some ranmdom generated files in there. The code in question is; &opFile = "./../username1/hello" . & random . ".txt"; Obviously I'm not going to post the full code but this should be a start. As you can see, the user managed to wrote some files in someone else's directory, even that their security setup doesn't allow it, which I suspect is part of a 'system' account. However under the "D" drive, there is no "SYSTEM" account in there, it has been totally removed. The only thing left are Administrator CREATOR OWNERS and the D:FTPRootData has the security setup as: Administrator CREATOR OWNERS FTP User Admin (FTP admin acess for webmasters) IIS_WPG Internet Guest Account In php.ini I also have these line: disable_functions = "phpinfo, passthru, system, popen, escapeshellarg, escapeshellcmd" But it is not working. So, what am I missing and how do I stop these pesky user from doing this?

I designed my companies website but we've had a change in IT and php went down. The new guy (who is here to fix things) just sent me this and quite frankly I'm at a loss (i use a VPS, thus never having to deal with this stuff). Server Security - PHP CURL
after following the perfect server setup - centos5.2 guide I have setup a home server on my dsl connection and installed openfire with relative ease. I have a paid hosting server which runs my website but I want to have it access the userservice plugin of openfire to add/remove users (which is installed on my new home webserver). After trying fopen and CURL to post GET data to my home server without any luck I did some reading and came accross the snoopy php class. The snoopy class now allows me to get the default apache test page on my home server but when i try to point snoopy to my openfire admin on port 9090 it throws up a timeout error (but i think this may be an error in the snoopy class?). CURL and fopen allowed me to get data from google and some other sites but not from my home server.

Recompiling Php On A Dedicated Server
I am thinking of purchasing a dedicated server from godaddy (yes, I know). Their default php does not include the library I want (ming). Stop PHP Scripts Crashing Server
I've recently had problems where customers will upload PHP scripts that seem to use alot of CPU. I've got PRM installed but when a PHP script uses a lot of CPU, it doesn't seem to kill the processes or do anything to stop it crashing the server. I've checked the logs of PRM and it does kill some processes that use a lot of CPU/RAM though... The ideal solution would be for PRM or something else to stop people being able to access the script causing excessive CPU/RAM usage. Even suspending for the reason of using excessive CPU/RAM would be sufficient. For those interested the OS is CentOS 5.3 with cPanel 11, Apache and the latest PHP 5. Average load is always between 0.50 - 1.90.

PHP On IIS7 And Windows Server 2008
Background: I work for a small microsoft based web dev company who is slowly starting to do more PHP based work. To date we've run these sites (mostly WP) through IIS6 on Windows Server 2003 although this presents problems around mod rewrites etc. We're at a stage where we can make a decision between upgrading our existing server to IIS7 on Windows Server 2008 which seems to have better support for running PHP and all it entails - OR - getting a Linux box. As a developer my preference is for the Linux server although the finance department ain't too keen on paying for another server. Question: Have you experienced any significant problems in hosting PHP on IIS7 on WS 2008 alongside .NET apps? Are there any concrete technical reasons why we shouldn't use this set up?

Configuring Php/mysql On IIS Server
I have setup php and mysql on a windows IIS 6 server. php has installed fine and works but I have 2 problems 1. When i browse to http://localhost i get a 403 error but when browsing to http://localhost/index.php it works fine. It makes me think that the server does not know what extension to default to when doing a directory listing 2. I have phpmyadmin installed and the cfg file is set to do a 'config' authentication. That works but everytime i go to submit a form to create a new database or anything i get prompted with an HTTP user/pass. I'm not sure if this is a phpmyadmin issue or a php configuration issue

Php.ini - Editing It Messed My Whole Server Up
I have changed one value in /etc/php.ini safe_mode = On then restarted apache. Now, when I try to access any mysql based sites, like forum or gallery - I get a blank page. I went back and changed safe_mode back to 'Off'. Restarted the server - but I am still unable to load any pages. Running CentOS.

Internal Server Error For All Php Files
I switched over a new host and everything was working perfectly. I then uploaded one last directory but it had a weird internal server error when trying to access the index.php file. I then googled it and changed directory permissions to 755, and I am not sure if it is a coincidence but now every site on my server with php files displays that error but html pages are fine.

Accessing PHP.ini On A Dedicated Server
I'm using a dedicated server for the first time and I want to access the PHP.ini file so that I can set up the mail() function and also enable error reporting. However, all access has to be done remotely through a KVM console and I'm unsure what I need to do in order to get to the file that I want.

Windows Server 2003 Won't Parse Php
I just installed php on a windows server 2003 machine but php code just shows up as normal text. I've followed the steps outlined here. Then I restarted the server and the files are served as they should, but php code is not parsed. In the troubleshooting section it says to try to add php5isapi.dll as an ISAPI Filter, and so I did, but it still won't work. The question is, do I have to restart the whole machine to test if the ISAPI Filter setting solved the problem, or does an IIS reset suffice? The reason I'm asking instead of trying is that a lot of business critical applications are running on the same machine, so restarting the machine is quite the process.
