Munin Stopped Reporting Eth0 After Reboot

Apr 30, 2008

I rebooted my server and now munin is not showing any eth0 traffic. All other graphs are fine. I can see there is a ton of apache accesses so there is definitely eth0 traffic. Munin logs report no errors. I restarted munin and munin-node. I even did 'yum remove munin munin-node' and reinstalled again but it still doesn't work for eth0.

Trafic -in- On Eth0, Normal Or Not ?

Jul 1, 2009

I'm not sure if the trafic showed by munin graphics is normal or not because it seems it jumps to 2mbps in the morning and after few hours drops down to .5mbps

I don't host any storage websites, which should have lots of uploads, just normal websites, maybe a total of 10000 unique visitors/day on all accounts (I estimate this as I don't know how to find out exactly the number of visitors on all websites hosted on this server - 182 accounts)

My question is how can I see what exactly is making that trafic, maybe using a netstat command to see what processes are using the bandwidth.

Firewall Blocks Server (or Eth0) Itself

Jun 1, 2007

I just uninstall apf and install csf firewall on 4 servers

There is a problem after that. 2 of the server actually was OFFLINE by 12 midnight sharp yesterday night. This is the second time (second day) it happens.
I went into the datacenter and

*Host not found*

#service csf stop

So how is this related to eth0 making my server offline by itself? Was it Iptable problem or Csf problem? or Kernel problem?

/etc/sysconfig/network-scripts/ifcfg-eth0 Of One Of Your Nodes

Dec 3, 2008

I am having network issues, local servers in the /24 are unable to connect to VPS's.

If I make the /etc/sysconfig/network-scripts/ifcfg-eth0 too especific by adding a netmask then Nodes with assigned IPs on a different /28 will stop working/ping.

Right now it works, but it doesn't allow local servers to connect to VPS's (a problem) as one of those nodes is a VPS backup center.

Wierdest Thing EVER Eth0 Drop W/ Plesk Usage

I just got my servers up, DNS servers what not and my main plesk server for shared/reseller hosting.

Now for the weirdest thing ever!

I started working on my plesk packages a few days ago, after I got plesk installed.

Systems stats as follows

Supermicro AS1021M-T2 barebone

Has 16GB of infeon DDR2-667 memory.
2 250GB hard drives in mirrored configuration with the Acera 9500 w/ 256MB of memory

Running Cent OS 4.4

For some reason, Everytime I go into Plesk, or any of the websites that are contained in Plesk, The nic card drops out, wont allow any activity to get through, both ways.

How To Do Reporting With IIS 5.0

if there is anyway that IIS 6.0 can do reporting of the websites that are running on it. For example I would like to get the local IP address and host header values for them. I can do it manual by going to each website but that will take forever. It seems like there should be a easier way.

Performance / Reporting Tool

May 29, 2009

I have several servers and I need a tool to measure CPU/disk/memory performance.

I no nothing about hardware (and I also don't want/need to know).

The tools is to compare only - I don't care about the measure unit, I just need a way to compare the performance between my servers like which one as a faster CPU and so on...

Anyone knows such a FREEWARE (and not bloatware) tool?

If the tool has some kind of hardware report... well.. even better.

WHM Reporting Way Way Under Actual Usage

The site is drupal and DC said they can't even list the tmp folder for that account. Any suggestions so I don't loose $45/month in extra charges? I have no clue how many months this is been going on, but it's costing me allot it seems.

Enabling PHP Error Reporting

Jan 7, 2007

I just leased a server through EV1. It's Linux (I think), Apache, and Plesk 8.0. I'm trying to get error reporting to work for my php scripts. I opened up the php.ini file (I'm about 90% sure that it's the right php.ini file) found in the /etc folder. I changed error reporting to "on" and restarted my server with Plesk.

PHP errors are still not showing up.

Mod_Evasive Enhancing Reporting

Apr 27, 2007

I got mod_evasive installed and its working fine. Its detecting the IPs, blocking the IPs and sending me the emails.

The emails I'm getting only have the sender name "Apache" and the content shows the IP address is blocking.

How can I enhance the email report to display the following:

1) get a proper Subject header in the email

2) change the From header to include the hostname - i.e.

3) have the program do a reverse lookup on the ip, and include that in the body.

Do I need to include a script using the DOSSystemCommand to do this?

Realtime DNS Blacklist Fed By Reporting Admins

Wondering if anyone knows of an email DNSBL that are have a real time reporting tool which directly feeds the DNSBL?

I have been using Spamcop for reporting in hopes I might be able to get some IP's listed. However so far I have not seen any IP's listed until many hours or days after they are reported (possibly going through a validation process?).

Wondering if anyone knows a more pro-active DNSBL that is fed directly by reporting and administrators?

Should I Uninstall Munin

I have WHM 11.15.0 cPanel 11.17.0-R19429
FEDORA 4 i686 on standard - WHM X v3.1.0

/var keeps getting filled up with munin logs. Do I really need these logs? The server already had munin when I got it so I don't know how it was installed.

Can I disable it? I looked at the cron tab, and I don't see munin, but when I did chkconfig --list I found:

munin-node 0: off 1: off 2: on 3: on 4: on 5: on 6: off (spaces added because it made smileys)

Microsoft Junk Mail Reporting Program - Who Uses This

Jul 20, 2008

Anyone else sign up for this?

Did microsoft require your host email them and say "[you] have exclusive sending rights for this IP"?

Here is the part of the email from microsoft:

xx, unfortunately, we have not received an e-mail confirmation from
your ISP, [host], for your IP
x.x.x.x. Please ask them to re-send the e-mail confirmation to [email] with the [id] subject. Please also
ask them to include you on the "To" or "Cc" field in case that we fail
to receive their e-mail confirmation.

Is this a requirement for everybody?

I signed up for AOL's junk reporting program a few months ago and I didn't have to bother anybody about it.

If I recall correctly, all AOL cared about was whether or not my reverse DNS was set properly.

I did some googling about the error and it is because rrdtool is not installed.

Anyway i clicked install a rpm from whm and choose rrdtool.i386

root@server # rpm -qa | grep rrd

But it is still giving error above when i try to install munin

Understanding Munin Output

Apr 18, 2008

I use Munin to monitor the health of our servers, I can tell by looking at the graphs there's nothing to worry about, however, I'm struggling to baseline acceptable performance.what would be classed as 'normal' output for some of the more relevant munin graphs.

I've been looking at the Apache* modules and this is the output from one of our servers:

average of: 300 accesses per minute, 6 busy servers and 4.10MB a minute volume

max of: 1400 accesses per minute, 81 busy servers and 51MB a minute volume

This is a dedicated box running one site.

We have another box that is running approximately 30 sites

average of: 30 accesses per minute, 1 busy server and a 500K a minute volume

max of: 322 accesses per minute, 11 busy servers and a 4MB a minute volume.

These servers are pretty much the same spec, dual core 64Bit, 4GB of ram, two SATA disks in RAID1.

CPU/Memory/MySQL Usage - Munin @ 54%

Aug 13, 2009

I'm checking my CPU/Memory/MySQL Usage and I'm seeing that something called Munin is running at 54%. That is apparently the average for today. Can anyone give me any insight as to what this is?

Wikipedia classifies Munin as a network monitoring application. I don't think it should be using this much processing.

It appears that I may have enabled this plugin when I rebuilt my apache using EasyApache. Are there any big benefits to this? Looking at the graphics at first glance it doesn't look like there is. but then again, I'm not that knowledgable about this stuff.
