After getting completely fed up with bluehost (my site was so slow!), I recently switched to mddhosting. I had considered other hosts, but luckily, I found this forum before switching -- and I discovered mddhosting here!
I'd highly recommend mddhosting. They took the time to talk to me and answer all my questions before I switched (and I asked a lot of questions!). After I took the plunge, they basically did all the work for me migrating my website. I was shocked! There was one small glitch in the migration as some software wasn't installed on their server that I needed, but they cleared this up in less than an hour after I submitted my support ticket. Since then, its been smooth sailing. My site is really fast -- I've never had to wait for a page to load. I host some videos, so I was a little worried about these, but they are just as fast as the rest of my content. The only other time I've needed support was when I changed SSL certificates, and again, they pretty much handled everything for me.
I wanted to take a minute to throw out a review of a good host I found a few months back. I remember while I was looking for them that I found a ton of "Avoid XYZ host" or "ABC host is terrible," but very few reports of a host that people would suggest TO use.
In any case, I transferred my business domain (www.thecliplady.com) over to MDDHosting (www.mddhosting.com) a few months back and everything has been fantastic. As I recall, my account was setup quickly, and they helped me to transfer from my old server and setup my SSL cert right away. Since then, I have had almost 0 downtime, was always notified of maintenance or issues that might affect my account, and generally everything was quite snappy (pages loaded quickly, etc).
But, the one thing that really blows me away and is truly fantastic about MDDHosting is the support. In my time with them, I have filled 5 support tickets. In the worst case, I waited about 25 minutes for a response. Yesterday, my ticket was responded to in 2 minutes, and completely resolved in 3 minutes (It was a simple issue, but it was nice to not wait to finish deploying my new site).
Here is a screenshot of that last ticket: [url]
To sum it up, I feel very confident in suggesting MDDHosting to anyone who values great support and a stable server. Plus, the prices aren't bad either. Make sure you at least check them out, seriously!
my review might not be as star-studded as it should, but I had to write one. I've been through the ringer, and dealt with a lot of hosts. A few decent, but most horrible. I was beginning to think the only way to have a good host would be to lease a server and run it myself.
I just recently moved over to MDDHosting, and immediately my script gave me trouble. Most hosts would either say sorry, you're on your own, or we'll gladly help for a fee. I set out to figure out the issue, and was unable to figure it out. The outlook was pretty grim. My last resort was support from the host.
I opened a live chat session, and was connected to Michael. He informed me that they don't officially support any scripts, but he'd be glad to try to help. We went through the entire documentation of the script, and also a handful of forum posts across the web, hopelessly searching for the issue. Eventually, I had to get the script's development team to help point out the issue, but to Michael's credit, he did everything he could to help.
So I thought I was out of the water. Nope.
Later that day I realized my login function wasn't working, along with other issues. Michael was again very helpful. This time, he was able to go beyond what I reported to him, and fix issues I didn't even know about before he mentioned them to me. He even went as far as to rebuild the modules needed for my script to be 100% positive the issue wasn't server-side only. In the end, we learned that many of the issues were related to permissions.
Us: 2, Script: 0. And of course, another issue was discovered.
By now, most hosts would have said, "this guy's an idiot", and told me to figure it out myself. Michael was still very helpful. Already I knew I had found a good host. This time, the issue at hand was totally undocumented. I decided it wasn't a key feature, and was willing to let it go. Michael didn't give up. He plowed through all of my heavily modded code, and found the issue to be a very well buried single line of code, referring to an incorrect path. It was this that showed me MDDHosting is more than a good host. They're great. Fantastic even.
Considering the fact that all of the issues turned out to be my fault, I am ecstatic that I found MDDHosting, and that Michael was happy to help. I've never, ever, ever seen a host even remotely as responsive and helpful as these guys. The best part is they NEVER EVEN THOUGHT TO ASK ME TO PAY FOR HELP! Every chat was answered within 30 seconds(literally!). I can't even imagine how you guys do it, but at any rate, what I'm really getting at here is this;
I've been using shared hosting for some years now but lately found my sites were getting more and more sluggish, so I started looking around for a new host. Problem is, who do you choose? And what kind of service? I wanted something better than shared hosting but didn't fancy the complexities of VPS.
After some research I signed up for MDDhosting.com's basic Semi-Dedicated plan for one month to test them out. If it didn't work out I'd only be out twenty bucks The set-up was fast - I was transferring my test sites within minutes of receiving their (five) instant welcome emails. When I had problems with the transfer, MDD's support team were very responsive (like, in minutes!) and when it got a bit tangled, Michael himself helped to sort it out.
After the initial issues (all my fault for setting things up wrong) the transfer of the rest of my sites was quick and painless. I'm now signed up MDDhosting's Intermediate Semi-Dedicated service.
I'm relieved, with semi-dedicated hosting, that they won't bog down over time with added subscribers. I'm impressed with MDDhosting.com's quality of service and I'm VERY happy at how fast my sites load now.
I give MDDhosting.com a ten out of ten!
Usual disclaimer: I'm not connected to MDDhosting.com in any way, other than being a happy customer. I don't normally post on forums but I was impressed by this company's service and I'm sure there are other small webmasters out there with the same kind of hosting problems I had.
I have several domains hosted with MDDHosting. I'll provide the domain which drove me to come here and leave a review: planetwideforums.com
Let me start off by saying I have been using MDDHosting for a couple of months now.
Really, since I stopped running my webhosting business due to my wanting to pursue offline IT things. Some of you may know me as HostLonestar-Randy. Unfortunately I do not remember the password for that account lol, and I no longer use the email associated with the account.
I decided to go with Mike because I knew him from here from when I was a host and had talked with him before, had read the reviews he had been receiving, and decided to take the LiteSpeed thing for a sping.
So far, I don't believe I have made a mistake with choosing him.
I originally signed up for one account, quick set up (I believe I got that email right away) which is a great thing for someone to receive lol. I added an addon domain (planetwideforums.com) as I decided to start that forum up finally. Got everything set up.
Well, yesterday I decided I wanted to order a second account and split planetwideforums.com off onto it's own account due to some of my requirements with subdomains.
Mike was there for me and helped me transfer the files for the domain,a long with the SQL database. There was absolutely no trouble. As you can see my forum is up and running great. The DB's were the biggest thing I was worried about, so I had made about 6 backups just in case lol.
The prices are great for the value of service you get.
Litespeed....well, not much to say about that, it truly is faster IMHO.
The server load for my shared accounts are consistently below .8 (on 4CPU's).
I have only experienced a little issue, which was actually a cPanel glitch that I happened to be the lucky one of like 17 other cPanel users to get lol.
All in all, I'd recommend MDDhosting (mddhosting.com) to everyone.
I have already recommended it to several members of the forums I am running, all my family and friends, and even a random stranger the other day.
I'll be back in about 4 months or so to do my 6 month review
A few reasons I got hosting with this company. I was having some issues with the support staff at hostpc.com I mean to me they just made me feel they did not care. So any way knowing how busy my site has gotten on hostpc I thought I needed vps. So came in and looked through the offers section and asked many questions to a lot of them that looked interesting and in my price range.
Mddhosting was the one that stuck out the most and every time I talked to support before I got service they really showed they cared about me and were honest and helpful. Much like the feeling I get with downtownhost and everity.
I went ahead and signed up for a vps with them and support iis still the same I mean good. They even helped me with my shoutcast needs which is actually above an beyond and wow have I had to contact them a lot of shoutcast issues which at this time are all fixed and none really had to do with my vps server. All the issues were either the bouncy radio software I was using or a dj messing things up.
the service has been great no down time that I know of and its fast.
This is why I added them to my great host list. Sites with them are: [url]and [url]
If you are looking for great customer service and someone who knows what they are talking about then this is the host to use.
I have had many hosts in the last 7 years and after feeling Michael out and asking him tons of questions I was so confident in him that I prepaid for a year. The rate plan was reasonable and wasnt filled with the bait and switch unlimited this and that with all the fine print.
I took advantage of there offer to move my old sites from the horrible host I was with and WOW, they really did the work to restore all my sites that didnt transfer correctly by hand and they really did give 100%. He did the backups and transfers until the old host finally made a good copy that was usable. He spent about a week just to get my sites all moved and running correct.
Something that really caught my eye was the fact that you can utilize 25% or resources for up to 90 secs. This is important so your sites wont give 500 server errors and the host telling you that you are overloading there servers.
I do have to say I have only been with them a month and finally all the sites are moved over and running on there servers. So far no problems and I cant tell you how nice it is to NOT get 500 server errors constantly. So nice not to get that dreaded email from my monitoring company that the sites are down.
If you want that personalized service then this is the place. I email Michael so much I feel like hes my buddy and he usually replies within mins, making me feel like his only client.
Deff recommend!! I think you need the doamin hosted-- lindsayloahn.us
Today I am writing my review on MDDHosting with who I have hosted with for the last 3 months. They have been wonderful and are definitely one of the best hosts that I have come across.
Michael at MDDHosting (MikeDVB on the forums) has been very good with me as he is primarily the person that has helped me when I needed it. I was originally with Toehosting and after speaking with Mike he talked me into making the switch to his servers and promised me that I would not regret it and I'm happy to post that he was right. The server that I was placed on was faster in just about every way than the servers I had been on in the past and I have not experienced any downtime that I was not notified about beforehand. MDDHosting did notify me that they were upgrading their server equipment and that I was on one of the servers being upgraded and that I may experience some downtime but I watched carefully and there was no apparent downtime, they did a good job on the upgrade.
Support has been great, not only Michael but everybody I have spoken with at MDDHosting. Every support ticket I have put in has been responded to in under 5 minutes and just about every ticket I have put in has been fully resolved within about 10 to 15 minutes. I have primarily used their support desk for help although I have contacted Michael via MSN as well as calling them when I was not near a computer and they have always been very helpful.
I cannot complain about their service whatsoever, their uptime has, as previously mentioned, been excellent. I've not had one minute of downtime so I am very pleased, and to top everything off their servers are not crowded and they don't oversell so their server speeds are second to none (very fast).
For service and support I give MDDHosting a 10/10 and I highly recommend them. It should also be noted that I started out on a custom package after talking with sales and eventually worked my way up to one of their normal plans so if you need a custom plan talk to them as they will probably be able to work with you.

I know from browsing these forums that people will ask what my domain is, I have already submitted my domain for review by the moderators by reporting this post.
If I post this in the wrong forum section, forum admins should feel free to move the thread to an appropriate section.
It's been more than half a year, now, since the previous disaster with Rageki Hosting, and since the transition to MDDHosting, there have been no negative hosting experiences with MDDHosting to report. There hasn't even been any need to initiate support tickets, once the initial transition phase was past, where Rageki Hosting left us in the lurch, and Mike over at MDDHosting communicated with us at that time, back in March of this year, in order to get things plucked from the nether void caused by Rageki Hosting's abrupt shutdown.
So, if the last six to seven months are any indication, the decision to go with MDDHosting for the local landscape guy's website, which I set up for him, seems to have been a good decision on our part.
There has only been a single instance, during these past six to seven months, where the landscape guy complained about his site not loading. When he reported that to me, I promptly tried to bring his website up in my web browser, and it loaded just fine. When I told this to the landscape guy, and told him to try and load his site, again, it loaded on his end, also. Personally, I think that it was a glitch on the landscape guy's end, a problem with his computer or Internet provider, and not a problem with the webhost, MDDHosting. I don't consider it to be downtime, because there was no actual, solid indicator on my end that the website was actually down, where that particular episode was concerned.
Every time that I, personally, have tried to bring up the website, since things were up and running on MDDHosting, the site has loaded. It's not a busy website, at all, but it is a business related website, so downtime issues for this particular website are particularly important to both the landscape guy and to myself.
In sum, I give two thumbs up to MDDHosting on the reliability of its web hosting.
Because i have couple site hosted by both hosting company (DTH=downtownhost and TCH=totalchoicehosting) and have positive experience with them i needed to make decision who will be hoster for my new project.
The problem was by both company and by 99% others that traceroute command is not enabled by default and it is essential for my new project.
After exchanging a couple emails with both companies DTH was winner again because DTH allow on shared hosting traceroute command (in situation that you need it).
Answer from TCH was that only on VPS (semi-dedicated) is traceroute command possible and not on shared envirovment.
I must again praise DTH for the way how they handle with their customers and that they are ready to do everything for their customers. Not wonder that they are one of the greatest hosting company.
I'll keep it short and sweet. I signed up for medialayer on December 23, 2007. Its been more than 6 months and there has been not one unscheduled downtime, the support is phenomenal on the rare occasion I need to use it and its the fastest host I've ever used, dedicated or shared. My sites have been on the front page of Digg, Osnews, Stumbleupon and I've yet to see my hosting so much as shudder. Unbelievably powerful servers. They are accommodating, friendly and brilliant.
No, they don't have terabytes of bandwidth and it doesn't cost $1 per month; but it doesn't get much better than this otherwise.
Hosted sites ticketed to mod team. Keep up the great work, Medialayer.
I've been hosted on Hawkhost since last year (exactly as it will be expiring on October) and they have been great. I don't regularly check my own website but everytime I do, it's up and running. They were so good I never even had to contact them (only in the beginning because of site transfer). I even forgot what I was hosted on because the whole year just went by so smoothly.
i would like to tell everybody ,that how much i was satisfied with infrenion.com ,Yesterday i signed up with them as i already they have best support ,i have asked at least 100+ questions and they answered each and every one clearly and helped me in setup of my site in every aspect. I didn't see this much in any of my previous hosts.
I'm been with HostGator for about 2 years now and I love their service! Its really easy to get in contact with HostGator staff either by Phone, Live Chat, or Ticket they always resolve whatever issue i'm having in a timely manner. I also like calling HostGator and not talking with someone in India who has no knowledge of what I'm trying to get help with and doesn't even know much about that company, I get that enough when I call Dell lol. Anyways, I just wanted to let everyone know that if you are looking for Shared, Reseller, or Dedicated web hosting then choose HostGator.com .
I found vps media through WHT about a month ago, I saw they allowed several gaming servers on their vpses, and it was interesting to give a CS 1.6 and CS Source a try on a vps.
I signed up using a 20% off special, which is pretty cheap, compared to other xen providers.
I've been really happy with their service, as they are very easy to communicate with, and I love their notifications whenever a scheduled maintenance is due.
Their community is still small, but they're growing little by little, I saw a big spike of people registered in their forums right after a new WHT offer post. Their blog is current, well written and specially good content, mostly just news about their service, but always interesting in reading them.
vps hardware:whatever bandwidth: >2000Go location: Sweden highly preferred, Russia possible 100Mbps up and down (10Mbps is not possible for instance) good uptime (99,9%)
price: depends on the hardware, but i'll go up to ~150$ max for a really good hardware
So earlier this month I decided to buy hosting from Hostamina.com - I called them on their toll free number and they seemed like they would be very helpful and they said they were willing to help me from the ground up because I'm kind of new to websites.
It kills me to say this (because everyone says it's so easy), but I barely even know HTML. Anyway, I signed up with them and didn't even know where to begin. They showed me where I could choose from thousands of free website templates, and then they even helped me customize it! They explained to me what was wrong with my HTML code and how to fix it, and even fixed some of it themselves!
So, after reading so many hosting horror stories all over the internet this made me feel kind of lucky that I picked a good one for my first host.
Also, my pages always seem to load really fast - I think this has something to do with them not overselling like a lot of the supposedly unlimited space/bandwidth companies, but I'm not quite sure.
I need to remind you before you read any of this, I have only been with them (racksrv.com) for half of a month, but within that half of month, I have tested them (racksrv.com) in many, many ways.
I couldn't see many reviews of them (racksrv.com), so thought I would give one. I will keep updating this review as time pass's.
Alright, where to start. Some time ago, I came to them in need of a dedicated server. I would like to first point out their support / sales. To be honest, test them. Send a ticket in, and see how long it takes them to reply. Even on weekends, go for it.
My point is, somehow, they seem to answer all of my tickets, whether they be sales or support, super fast. I literally have not seen them reply later than around 30 minutes, ever. Most times, it was way, way under that.
They must have it synced with their PDA's or something. Well, either way its amazing. I ask questions, regarding anything, and they always come up with an answer for me.
Now onto when my services was setup. I was sort of a special customer. I needed a special deal, something they did not really have listed on their site. I contacted them on the weekend, and got reply's to all my questions.
They told me what they could do for me, when they could set it up, and everything was done correctly. They setup the server when they were supposed to, they installed the right operating system, and on top of that they updated the server for me (only a simple "yum update", but still, never saw that from any host).
Onto the network. It is quite amazing. From North America, the pings are still low. There are no slow downs, and the port you get is dedicated. Yes, dedicated. I know that as a fact, as I have tested it at many different times of the day, and getting 100mbit full was possible every time.
They are a bit expensive yes, but to be honest, its worth it. All in all, so far, they are great.
I know you are IMMEDIATELY thinking, "bah, it's only been half a month, how can you review over that short of a period?!". Simply because I have been with over 30 providers over the years. And I have seen nothing as good as this.
Like I previously said, I will post another review later on or update this one. That is about it.
I'm coming upto the end of my third month with Sentris.com
Their prices are good, support has had good response times and resolution on problems I have had. They seem to sort out nearly anything despite only being on basic management.
I haven't had any downtime, on a good network and machine. When I first ordered my server they didn't have the said processor in stock, said they would get it the next day or that I could upgrade to a better processor; which I did and my server was up within a few hours .
I've seen a few negative reviews about Sentris from the past but not many new positive reviews so I though I'd right one for them.
thoughts were on u2-web... They have a semi-dedicated web hosting service for only 49.99 a month.. They also have a ton of awesome reviews...
I'm having a very hard time finding unbiased reviews without an agenda on the web. This forum appears to be the best source out of everything that is out there...
I was searching a few days ago for a good vps hosting. When I found out VPSLAND.COM, I was very surprised. Their prices are the cheapest on the net and, I thinked it was an hoax. So I did a bit of search on the net, and I found many negatives comments on them. But, I decided I try them anyway and buy a Windows VPS... and I think it was the good option !
The "supposed" downtimes and "non-replying support team" are totaly fictive. You want service, then, you get it with VPSLAND.COM. They offer great VPS plans at a price you will never see at other webhosters. And, since 3 days, no downtime.
I would like to hear people's stories about VPSLAND.COM if anyone haves.
We spent days and days looking at all the available options for a VPS account. We decided on Galaxyvisions.com after reading some reviews on other sites.
We've been in the Internet business since 1996 and have used literally dozens of hosts. Galaxy Visions ROCKS! The level of support they have provided is seldom matched - quick, efficient, and knowledgeable. Great prices also - what else could you ask for?
I usually don't take the time to review products or services that I pay for - but after Galaxy quickly helped us out of a major jam with the VPS account - I felt compelled to do so.
They completely rebuilt the account for us within a couple hours of the request - we usually wait longer than that for any kind of response at all from other host.
ThisWebHost has a price plan suitable for any hosting need (I saved over 50% from what I was paying previously, because the other pricing plan was richer than what I needed).
ThisWebHost only charges $1 per month for a dedicated IP address and has superior customer service (very timeline response once you open a ticket) and is also accessible on Twitter. Added bonus is that their CS is located in the US and they speak English.
Another huge perk was that they transferred my site for free.
I signed up with siteground yesterday and everything has been perfect. Uptime has been great, and server speeds are alright. Except the only thing I don't like is that it's fairly hard to find the place to submit a ticket, and their interface is a bit confusing.
