It's been a while since I've made a backup in HyperVM but in the past I've had no problems. I decided to make a new one after so long, but when I did I got the error "no permission to make back up []". I contacted my provider to fix it, but it's been almost 24 hours and they still haven't gotten anywhere it seems. They even asked for my DA login information which I don't think is needed to fix the problem but I provided it anyways.
My question is, is this problem really that hard to fix? How would one fix it? Maybe I can just tell the provider how to fix it so I can get this done ASAP and then I can get back to using my VPS.
I have this message when i try to restore 3 different big backup >7 GB
I have the same message if i try to copy the backup in FTP repository to the repository on the server
"This operation is taking too long. Check the results in a few minutes"
If i go back few minute or hour ... i have nothing No more message... No Error and no restore !
Version: Parallels Plesk v12.0.18_build1200140811.16 os_CentOS 7
OS:CentOS Linux 7.0.1406 (Core)
After Update to 11.5.30.
We can't able to create new domain. its taking too long . given no result.
When we refresh the page the domain shows in plesk but its not showing in IIS7.
For some reason, one of the servers can't connect to my mail server. Whenever a user tries to send email from that server to my server, the message won't go through and I see the following in the logs (var/log/exim/mainlog):
2007-02-13 23:56:06 SMTP connection from (***.ca) [***.***.***.***] lost while reading message data (header)
this problem occurs only with this ***.ca mail server (as far as I know).
In fact, trying dnsreport.com tool on any of my server domains, I am getting the error message
"ERROR: I could not complete a connection to any of your mailservers!
******.com: Timed out [Last data sent: RCPT TO: ]
If this is a timeout problem, note that the DNS report only waits about 40 seconds for responses, so your mail *may* work fine in this case but you will need to use testing tools specifically designed for such situations to be certain.
I am using Servint and I am looking for another provider with similar reputation/reliability. I have heard many good things about Zone.net on this forum, but they don't have any reviews older than a few months. Have they been around long, if so, why no early posts?
View 5 Replies View RelatedWe have many webservers in our environment, Few webservers serves static contents. In one application, we often change the excel file. Every day or 2 days once we will modified the excel sheet content. File name will be the same, only the content will be changed. We will modify the content of the sheet and upload through FTP to the docroot. After we done this if we access the application URL, its displaying the old content. Its takes time to reflect. sometime with in 3 hours sometimes after a day only reflecting. We are not sure what is the issue. we cleared the cache in browser and tried then also its showing the old content. We are using DNS,network load balancer, proxy between the browser and the webserver.
I tired accessing through FQDN, it showed old content, then i accessed through the LB IP it showed the modifed file. For testing i changed the content again and then accessed. This time even for IP it showed old content. Same i tried with the instance 1 IP and Instance 2 IP. On first time it showing properly but after i cahnged the file content and accessed it showing the old file I tried accesing from a different PC where we havent accessed before, there also it showed old content, SO i feel browser cache is not an issue.
We using Source subnet mask IP persistence in load balancer. I am not sure where the old file is cached actually. Will it be cached in Load balancer or proxy or somewhere in webserver. Just we are placing the file in docroot and accessing it in the URL

I've got MySQL process running 95+ minutes. This isn't the first time it's happened.
I've seen it go as high as 120 minutes. The load average is 1.2. All my sites that use MySQL i.e. Wordpress blogs all run fine.
Looking at "MyTop" output everything looks normal:

Overall my server is running just fine but these odd long running MySQL process have me worried.
Just wondering... When I set my A-name records in my Domain-provider control panel, it takes almost 24hours to take effect sometimes, yet other times it can be almost instant...
I was just wondering, from a technical point of view, why this is. Does anyone know?
I ordered server and payed 48 hours ago by paypal. Why i do not have details for it?
In they website they wrote what they have 2 servers in stock!
Recently however it seems they're getting some bad press, most people are blaming growing pains.
As someone who's seen the before and after picture, i thought i'd chime in and actually put some positive notes on these boards, as I know these guys deserve more credit than this! It's one of those situations where if something goes wrong, people complain, if everything is right, not enough people speak up!
Server speed / specs:
one word: fantastic. i now have 2 VPSs with them - one in their new data center. I had moved the 2nd VPS from another host (also very well known on these boards, who I won't mention) where I had been having loads of issues regarding load and IO wait times. Load would spike up to 20+, server would crash, reboot, and this would happen 20+ times a day. Nothing critical on that server. Post-migration, using very very similar specs on futurehosting, and the load has been <0.10 since I started her up 3 days ago.
My current server sees load going up once in a while - during a large scale DOS attack last month the load only went up to 4, with over 1000 TCP connections. I only realized there was an issue as I checked one of my status scripts and noticed the enormous tcp count. I've recently moved to a new VPS on a new node, and load has been incredible, along with responsiveness.
No complaints at all on that front.
Network performance
Their old data center, softlayer, has much to be desired. There has been at least one outage every month so far which lasts in the hours duration. However, FH has made the very wise option of expanding out to a new datacenter and will hopefully slowly phase out softlayer, which has become quite pathetic. Connectivity wise though (speed/bandwidth) - no complaints.
Support
I remember getting a response within minutes months ago. However, that being said, months ago the customer service could only deal with the most basic of problems, and would escalate the issue if it was complicated, which would take time for a response.
FH did go through a growing pains phase a little while ago with regards to customer service - you wouldn't get a response too quick.
However now it seems they have begun improving. They are expanding their support base, and if you deal with the support guys you'll definitely be impressed by how dedicated and "hardcore" they are. Very recently I had a major issue with my server - it got compromised via root and someone wreaked havoc. Some script was installed that basically self-DOS'ed the server and basically killed it.
FH support instantly shut down the server and put me back up on my old server which I had migrated from only a week ago. They thoroughly went through and wiped clean my current server, fully bullet-proofed it and cleaned up the security of it all (something that was not a problem when they set it up - but rather my fault over time as I had disabled some very silly things I shouldn't have...) The guy working on the server, Jim, worked his *** off, pulled an all nighter (he was still responding to my tickets at 9am GMT, which was 4am his time - and I know he's not a night shift guy!). By the end of it all, he put me back onto my current newly-secured server, and was still revving to go, asking me what I wanted and to give him another challenge!
So, to sum this section--
good attitude: check
know-how: check
laziness: none.
I guarantee one thing - the vps company I just moved my 2nd vps from in this situation would not have spent an entire night rebuilding my server the way it was, but would've simply put me back on my old one week image, said "oh well, sorry, bad luck" and moved on.
All in all, my experience with these guys over the past couple of weeks (since the new data center opened) has been nothing short of positive, and I know they're rising out of the slight slump they had gotten themselves into.
I'll submit my URL to the mod to verify this post. And no, I don't work with FH
I had Qmail installed and configure more than 2 years.

We had many backups stored on our Plesk 12 server about 51 GB in total.
After reducing the backups back to 10 GB by removing old backups through the Backup Manager.
The issue is that Health Monitor still reported that there was low diskspace displayed by color yellow. And it look Health Monitor over 16 minutes to change the alarm level from Yellow to Green
However the statistics at the specific subscription still present the Backup usage of 51 GB's whilest they are no longer there.
What can i do about this in order to speed up the synchronization?
When I look at my Current CPU Usage / process manager, I see this:
Pid |Owner | Priority | Cpu % |Mem % | Command
13754 | nobody | 0 | 2.2 | 4.0 |/usr/local/apache/bin/httpd -k start -DSSL
I've got about 9 more of these, and it keeps eating up the memory. What is it and what can I do? Is it just apache running?

Neophyte question:
I have a dedicated server and have backup configure set up to do daily, weekly and monthly. What I can’t seem to find in the backup configure (using WHM) is where to set the TIME you want the backups to begin? I know there must be some way to designate what time the backups start and it is probably right under my nose, but being a relative newcomer to the world of dedicated servers, I can't find it. Can someone point me to the right location to set the backup time?
My MySQL server take too much time to start. I moved the data folder to its own hard disk, but still no improvement.

You see MySQL take 18 minutes to start.
This happens whenever i restart the server or restart mysql.
Here is the process while MySQL starts

It is chown that make the MySQL startup slow.

I usually use the "top" command to see what is happening in my server ... Normally everything is OK untill one week ago I start so see this process:
PID USER PR NI VIRT RES SHR S %CPU %MEM TIME+ COMMAND
1115 root 20 0 10768 10m 164 R 26 0.5 46:17.27 httpd
Is the number 1 on the top list using a lot of CPU and MEM (as I say before ... I never have seen this command in the past)
So when I kill the process everything goes fine but only for a few minutes and then is comming back
This is a rare issue i have on a RHEL 5.2 + cPanel server.
Server time is:
Tue Nov 11 17:02:51 CST 2008
Squirrelmail time show:
Code:
Last Refresh:
Tue, 5:02 pm
So, that is correct too..
But email arrives with -4 hours time, example:
webmaster@xxx.com 1:03 pm testing email
I already rebooted httpd, exim, and imap server, and the server itself too.. and problem stills.
One of my servers keep overloading due to a SQL process.
The process is:
/usr/sbin/mysqld --basedir=/ --datadir=/var/lib/mysql --user=mysql --pid-file=/var/lib/mysql/zeus1.forcium.net.pid --skip-external-locking --socket=/var/lib/mysql/mysql.sock
It takes up pretty much 90-95% of the cpu and memory at times if I do not kill the process. But even after I kill the process it comes back and immediately hogs up cpu load again causing it to go into loads of 8.00 or higher ( I have 8cpus ).
I installed Direct Admin on my 192mb RAM vps and right now my VPS is at 270mb (I'm going into burst). I found that if I stopped named, it goes down to less than 70. Why is Bind taking up so much RAM?
