Cpsrvd Failed @ ... Failure Reason: Unable To Connect To Port 2086
I have tried everything I know (I know not much) I have rebooted it multiple times. I have terminated lots of account and now I have only 2 or three accounts. I have removed all the fishy scripts. Done everything I can. But it just becomes un responsive within a minute of re booting. Its a Pentium 4 Single Core server. 1GB Ram and 160GB harddisk with cpane+WHM. I get error cpsrvd failed @ Thu Dec 11 19:50:43 2008. A restart was attempted automagically. Failure Reason: Unable to connect to port 2086 I cannot even connect to server because within minutes the server hangs.

Proftpd Timeout Connection Attempt Failed
Currently having a problem with proftpd on my centos plesk 8.1 server. During large uploads, lets say around 10 MB the FTP connection fails within 5 minutes or so saying: "A connection attempt failed because the connected party did not properly respond after a period of time, or established connection failed because connected host has failed to respond." I have asked for help from my server provider but they have tried and are now unable to help. I currently have the APF firewall in my server. Has anyone experienced this? Cpanel :: Timeout While Trying To Get Data From Service
I am facing some strange problems with one of my cPanel/WHM server. It's a dedicated server with Quad Core processor and 4gb ram. First i thought it was a ddos attack but now i think it's not. I am keep getting ftpd failed emails every 5-10 mins. ftpd failed @ Mon Jul 7 06:07:21 2008. A restart was attempted automagically. Failure Reason: Timeout while trying to get data from service server is extremely slow and load is over 10 for last 2 days. it shows that httpd, mysql, ftp is up but none of our site's are loading. 1 thing i noticed when i logged into WHM is that it says WHM VPS Optimized. Unable To Connect To Local Httpd Server.
When i go to my website or any page under the domain it's just white. Blank nothing, nada. "Failed to receive status information from Apache. Unable to connect to local httpd server." This error message appears when i click on "apache status". Is this because of the network issue? Or is it because of something I did myself? I did a google search and came up on some solution, I did them and nothing.

I am writing this message to share with fellow readers my sincere dissatisfaction and utter disappointment with the low standards and non-performance of customer service at 1&1.com. The following message is a copy of a feedback e-mail that I sent to 1&1 management after cancelling my Dedicated Server. I was a customer since 2005. ---- Dear Sir or Madam: I am writing to provide you with feedback on my experience with 1&1, and the events and circumstances that led me to cancel my Dedicated Server Package (a "1&1 Managed Server III"). I have been a customer since 2005, and over the course of these past few years, have witnessed the gradual degradation of service, transparency, and accountability by 1&1 customer service and technical support staff. I purchased a Managed Server because I wanted support personnel to administer my system, so that my business team and I could focus on building and developing content. We design and launch web sites and interactive communities focused around creative topics, and our sites are ultimately very successful and highly active. Upgrades of our server's operating system were often done reactively and late, rather than proactively and positively, at times exposing our server to security holes and performance inefficiencies. However, my real disappointment rests with how your customer service has been managed. Over the past year, there were complete server outages that lasted several hours at a stretch. When I was aware of these, I would call the 1&1 Customer Service line, via the "dedicated server" 1-800 number that your company had established. What I received was an outsourced call center in India, with absolutely no ability to perform technical or quality maintenance on my server. The customer service representatives were marginally understandable through their thick accents, and were very clearly reading from a script. Their inability to think creatively and adapt solutions to the problems at hand is understandable, even if frustrating; but entirely unacceptable is the fact that, by their own admission on several calls over the past few months, the data center in the United States was unstaffed. Ordinarily, Tier-1 customer service escalates to live Tier-2 and Tier-3 technicians and admins; your customer service department, however, was left lodging help desk tickets into a system that, according to them, would not be checked in days. In the latest episode, my dedicated server went offline on Friday night. Saturday morning, I was on the phone with your customer service personnel, who told me that the U.S. data center where my server was located was unstaffed on weekends and admins might not be able to get to my issue until Monday morning. They repeatedly offered insulting "scripted" suggestions as to why my server was offline ("perhaps it was my Internet Service Provider?", for example). Finally, they concluded that there was nothing that they could do - not even a remote-reboot, which is now standard in the industry (such as an APC-reboot). All in all, my server was offline for over 20 hours without explanation, with no clear accountability, and with zero communication. When I kept calling, demanding escalation, I finally got through to an admin in the United States, who managed to remote-force-reboot my machine. After I conversed with him briefly, he simply said he did not know why my server went offline. Our Dedicated Server's system specifications were modest, but still competitive (a Pentium 4, 2 Gigs of RAM machine, with around 500 concurrent MySQL connections on a single site). Our site's system specifications, using out-of-the-box software that we licensed to run our site, should easily have supported thousands of concurrent connections before we needed to upgrade our system. Nevertheless, I specifically paid extra and purchased 1&1's "managed dedicated server" option because I wanted the extra care and attention to our business-critical web sites. FEEDBACK ITEMS: To improve upon your business, I recommend three immediate changes. 1. Train Your Customer Service Personnel. Your Indian/Outsourced customer service appeared generally unfamiliar with both my package (they had to escalate several times, placing me on hold for over 20 minutes at a stretch, before they could conclude that I had a dedicated and managed server), and had been reading from an outdated script that left them uninformed and incompetent to handle even basic queries on system status, server and service readiness, and the functionality of my server. Furthermore, they were completely unsupported by not having any live technical team working during reasonable hours. 2. Staff your U.S. Data Center. It is astonishing, and horrifying, to me that 1&1 is apparently selling any hosting services, much less dedicated/managed hosting services, on a data center that is apparently not staffed with technicians 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. In my situation, my business-critical server went offline for nearly 24 hours, and there was no one that either I, or your Outsourced/Indian Tier-1 customer support could escalate to in order to get accountability. Furthermore, there was no transparency: there is no number to reach a live human being on-site at the data center, and your Customer Service personnel seemed either unable or unwilling to ask questions to figure out if anyone was in charge on the ground. They concluded to me, on the phone, that the "technicians were home for the weekend". That is entirely unacceptable, and it operates on a level of non-performance that is shocking to me as both a business executive and an organizational manager. 3. Provide full-time, English-speaking, U.S.-based Customer Service. Your call center in India was staffed with people who, quite frankly, were neither qualified nor competent to handle the concerns of your United States and European customers. When asked questions that deviated from the script that they were reading (you could hear them both typing and flipping pages to try and find the answer), they ended up placing me on hold for long stretches of time. There is zero innovation, and absolutely no adaptability by your customer service at this call center. When this scenario unfolds, there absolutely must be an immediate, Tier-2 customer service personnel that can promptly, professionally, and courteously handle the concerns of your customers, and they should do so in an intelligent, dynamic, innovative fashion. I am extremely patient and forgiving of outsourced and offshore technical solutions, especially since my business leverages a global model similar to most information technology consultancies. I can only imagine the number of clients that your user-unfriendly, backward, and mentally-atrophied customer representatives have cost you. The fact that they are the only customer support you offer before escalation to a (non-existent or absent) technical team is unacceptable, and speaks of a systematic failure in your organizational management and escalation hierarchy structure. Please, for the sake of your future customers, provide a full-time, intelligent, responsive, and communicative U.S.-based customer service team. CONCLUSION In closing, I want to reiterate my sadness at having come to the decision to cancel my 1&1 account and close all of my business with your organization. I have been a customer for nearly three years with your company, and have been very patient and understanding of the delays and mismanagement with customer service, especially since it seemed that in previous years, you had an attentive and present technical support team that would resolve matters promptly. However, after the past few months, I have witnessed the apparent absence of any service level agreement to respond to issues, queries, or escalations, the complete incompetence and mismanagement at your outsourced and offshore Indian call-center, and gross non-performance of your technical personnel and utter negligence of your support staff on the data center. Within a matter of moments, I was able to identify a major and large-scale competitor of yours that offered me an enterprise server solution at a U.S.-based data center that was staffed 24 hours a day, 7 days a week; a full-time U.S.-based customer service team that had guaranteed SLA's of responsiveness; and, professional management services for a comprehensive management solution -- all of this at a cost less than what you currently charge new customers. The decision was one of the easiest ones I have ever made.

I did a Graceful Server Reboot, but it seems httpd service not running yet, I got this error after try to restart Apache.. I have httpd down right now without any error outputted on errors_log my server is with 4 Quad-Core Intel Xeon 2.66GHz (16 CPu) and 16GB of RAM. Is running CentOS Linux 5.1 and Apache/2.2.8. Httpd Failed - Just A Few Times A Month
I have a single domain that covers a popular reality tv show. For about 2 months out of the year for an hour a week we get bombarded with traffic. While that's happening we are having http fail every couple minutes and we appear down. Now because it's for such a short time, it doesn't make sense to set up multiple servers or even upgrade to a larger server (would you upgrade for 10 hours a year of issues?). I figure it would cost another server at 200 a month for 12 months just to save a little downtime. Doesn't make sense. However, what settings could I change, what could I manage, etc... It's a dedicated server, and the site in question is a static frontpage with some php includes and a wordpress blog that gets most of the traffic.

Httpd Failed - Sites Don't Load - Host Can't Help
The last 2-3 days my websites on my vps all started acting funny. Randomly throughout the day they will all just stop loading. If you go to one of my sites they will just load and load and load and eventually time out after 5 minutes. To fix this problem, all I have to do is reset Apache in my WHM. Everything will be fine for awhile until it decides to stop loading again. I've been talking to tech support for 2 days. They're out of options. They tried banning some IPs as they thought I might be getting hacked. They tried moving me to a different host machine. They've checked all my logs... there are no errors or problems with the vps. The server load is always very low. Memory is always very low. I run about 15-20 websites on this VPS. Two of them are vbulletin (v. 3.6.4 and v3.6.8) and all the rest are wordpress). My VPS is hosted with ServInt. Server Version: Apache/1.3.39 (Unix) PHP/5.2.4 mod_auth_passthrough/1.8 mod_log_bytes/1.2 mod_bwlimited/1.4 mysql (5.0.45-community-log) I get these emails all day: httpd failed @ Wed Jan 9 06:10:42 2008. A restart was attempted automagically. I am completely out of ideas and options. Can anyone think of something? Think outside the box... make random suggestions. I don't care, I need to try something. I most recently added 3 or so brand new websites to my vps about a week ago. However, they are just running wordpress so I can't imagine they're the problem.

I have SSL certificated (GeoTrust) installed on my server for one of my site since last year, and it has been working fine. This morning I found my site to be down, SSL connection not working. I restarted httpd via WHM, and it failed to restart. I removed my SSL certificate using WHM at "Manage SSL Hosts", then I can restart my httpd. So, I think there is some conflicts between my httpd and SSL. Any idea how should I solve the problem? I have paid for the SSL cert for two years, and I want it to be back on my site.

Apache Httpd Service Crashing
It's been happening on both my old and new server, was really hoping this would be fixed. Basically, the httpd/apache service crashes or goes down making domain names and sites unable to load; although cPanel/WHM still accessible. This would go on for about 5 minutes OR until I restart httpd in root. sites simply do not load or just timeout after a period of time. This has become extremely annoying for both me and my clients because it makes it seem like we have downtime.

Is The Bandwidth The Reason Server Prices Are High Or
Like if you try to make your own server, it would cost a few thousand right? Or bought one from IBM or something. If you rent a server, it could cost you like double that I notice or even more in a period of a year. I was looking at the prices of Xeon 5420 and they are like only 400 or something. Motherboard, ram, hdd's shouldn't amount to too much right? And companies are charging like 50 bucks a month for a 2 gigs of ram. Or am I actually looking at this wrong and actually am looking at desktop components? So is bandwidth the cost for these prices? In the long run aren't people being ripped off?

Trace Reason For Spike Load On Shared Server
I have a shared server (root access) using Cpanel / Centos with suphp enabled. Twice this week the sever's load skyrocketed and was unable to login to trace teh cause, had to reboot instead. After reboot, I went to whm > CPU/Memory/MySQL Usage and saw nothing in red aside netstat (21% cpu). Slackware Linux Machine Hangs For No Apparent Reason
I have a dedicated machine collocated at some hosting provider and after a while (14 days or so, but timeframe is not constant) it hangs for no apparent reason. It happened 2 times already. Nothing in the logs (it logs everything), nothing at all. Before the commission the machine was running for a month without any problems. The first time it happened the tech guy plugged in monitor and keyboard and could not see anything on the display. Before that machine was not loaded with any traffic, nobody should have actually known it is there (except for some DNS traffic). It took some 20 days of uptime. The second time it happened was yesterday, after some 15 days of uptime. I suspect hardware malfunction because I have 2 "identical" (OS & progs, not the hardware) systems running without any problems. It is an HP DL380 G5 machine, the problematic one.

I've got a problem with an SQL query that is behaving badly. Its probably really obvious, but I can't see the problem! I have a table with 3 fields: Code: money bigint(20) income int(12) userID mediumint(7) I have a row that has a negative money and a value of 0 for income. When I update the money value to add "0" to it, nothing happens (as expected). When I update the money field to add the income field (which is equal to 0) to it, MySQL flips the sign to make the money field positive. Simply wondering, does cron timeout? I have heard mixed reports and can't find any good info. Personally i've run a cronjob for up to 6 minutes, but as my best method was sending myself emails through php, its not exactly a highly accurate testing method. On the same note, what would happen if one cronjob is running a php script for over 10 minutes, then another cron job starts on the same script, before the first one has finished?

I got my VPS a few days ago and want to get started. I installed Webmin (with the rpm - centos 5), and it says it installed successfully and then I can login. I typed in my domain name with the ':10000' but I get a network timeout in Firefox. I know my DNS is right, because I have the domain name pointed to my IP address with an A record. SSH is working fine, I can login using the domain name and not my IP address. I tried installing Lighttpd, but still get the timeout. Replacing the domain name with the VPS IP address doesn't work either.

VPS - Connection Timeout
I have a problem with my VPS. Hosting company have migrated my vps to a new and better dedicated server and now on all my sites(and IP) I got connection timeout error. I have changed "Main IP" and resolvers in HyperVM 10 minutes ago and it's not working(or I have to wait to wait like for nameservers registration?). Unique Apache Timeout
I have a new website that has a similar feature to tripadvisor's Reviews, where users share detailed thoughts and experiences. They fill in all this information on one form so there is no interaction with the system while they are writing. I know Apache has the TimOut setting which is set to 5 minutes by default. This ensures that you do not have users using active memory and sessions for a long period of time. But the problem I have seen is that some users are spending 15-20 minutes writing very detailed experiences and when they hit the submit button obviously their session has timed out and they lose everything and get a system error. I really don't want to change the TimeOut value in Apache to 20 min due to resource constraints, but is this my only option?

I have a phpbb3 forum that I post sound clips for my members to download and I had a few of them tell me that sometimes the downloads truncate. I asked my host what the deal is and they told me that their scripts time out after 60 seconds and that there was no way to make it longer. I have never heard of this before and I want to know, is that normal or standard for hosting companies?
