I had a strange issue on my VPS this morning. For over an hour the cpu load was very high and the VPS very slow. I couldn't find what was going on but I think a user ran a script to send about 150 emails.
Since this morning, exim can't deliver emails. I'm not sure if it's to all domains or only the 4 that are stuck there now. I tried exim -bh on those domains and I got the following
>>> host in hosts_connection_nolog? no (option unset) >>> host in host_lookup? no (option unset) >>> host in host_reject_connection? no (option unset) >>> host in sender_unqualified_hosts? no (option unset) >>> host in recipient_unqualified_hosts? no (option unset) >>> host in helo_verify_hosts? no (option unset) >>> host in helo_try_verify_hosts? no (option unset) >>> host in helo_accept_junk_hosts? yes (matched "*") 220-vps.netsimplicite.com ESMTP Exim 4.63 #1 Sat, 24 Feb 2007 19:42:44 -0500 220-We do not authorize the use of this system to transport unsolicited, 220 and/or bulk e-mail.
Was I blocked by these servers or is something wrong on my side?
I'm having a hard time figuring why me emails are not delivered to mailboxes.
A bit of context: OS: Ubuntu 12 Plesk pannel: 11.5
This server was supposed to be a new server (upgrade) from a previous who was working correctly (Also Linux with Plesk but both older versions).
After new server installed and websited up and running, I decided to create mailboxes and then copied all mailboxes (including emails and folders) to this new server.
First issue I got was i could not connect, until I figure out permissions were incorrect (for root after copy) and fixed it to be accessible by "popuser" (each user to access his mailbox).
Now i can connect, but new emails stay on qmail and can't be delivered to mailboxes.
Even after I have deleted the emalboxes and recreate them (now new emails are being delivered) all those emails in the queue can't be delivered.
I forced queue flush with "postqueue -f" but I get errors on the log:
(temporary failure. Command output: .qmail has prog delivery but has x bit set. (#4.7.0) 4.2.1 Message can not be delivered at this time )...
Which user should i give permissions (if that is the case) so tha both popuser (email user) and qmail/postfix can write on the mailboxes and deliver messages?
The issue is that a lot of my emails seem to be bouncing back at the moment with the subject 'Subject: Warning: could not send message for past 1 day'
Could anyone explain why this might be the case? I've had a look online and the only thing I can think it might be is that my email address has been gray listed. To solve this it was recommended to use a SPF Record.
I did not really want to start messing around with my DNS before I could get some confirmation that this is the case. Though if there is another explaination please can you let m know.
The emails that I have sent have all had pdf's attached to them.
I have a dedicate server and got a problem with receiving and sending email with Yahoo email accounts. I checked with gmail and other one and it works fine except Yahoo. It does not delivery when I sent out to Yahoo accounts. However, I can get email from Yahoo when they send back to me but a little bit delay.
I have 2 different servers one with Plesk 11.5. and one new just installed Plesk 12.0, the 12.0 will not send emails out but i get them back to the inbox of the outgoing server. is there a fix for this as i have tried both postfix and qmail to send out emails all with the same result.
It seems that something has changed from version 11.5 to 12.
The plesk configuration is installed on Debian 7.7 OS
I dont have an account with godaddy Godaddy has taken money from my paypal account.I have contacted godaddy asking for it back They are not going to give it back
I need that money... I need advise on what to do next?
I have a Cpanel DNS-ONLY secondary nameserver at ns2.frozenblues.com that returns A records but does not return MX records, despite the zone files having correctly synched with the primary WHM (11.11.0)/Cpanel server (at ns1.frozenblues.com). Again, the files in /var/named are all correct on the DNS-ONLY server incuding the MX info, and it is returning A records, but not returning MX.
Many of the VPS providers I've looked at don't back up the servers that house the VPSs and as such don't back up the VPSs either - have you considered what would happen should the VPS itself be erased (such as what happened to vaserv/fsckvps not too long ago)?
=The last line in the .htaccess file is ErrorDocument 404 [url]
If someone tries to view a page that does not exist in the web site, the Custom 404 Error Page is displayed, properly.
I am trying to get Google to verify that I am the owner of this site (so I can use their Webmaster tools), and I have placed a page with a name they specified, in the site. Their verification fails, because, 'We've detected that your 404 file (file not found) error page returns a status of 200 (Success) in the header.' They need a status of 404 in the header of 404 pages. Note: Google does a HEAD request (not a GET request).
Also, I have noticed in the Webalizer statistics, there are no 404 codes listed with the other response codes! I know the Custom 404 page is getting a lot of hits, but, they are not shown in the statistics, because the wrong code is being sent.
The web site is small and the Custom Error page is with the other pages. I'm using MS FrontPage 2000.
Question: What do I need to change that line to, to get this to work properly, for Google and for my Webalizer statistics? Apache/1.3.27 (Unix)
I have just updated to plesk 12 and I am having an issue with all of my web pages returning a 404 error, I can connect to the SQL databases and FTP it is just loading the web pages.
A client has moved his site to a new server. No mail is being delivered from the web server. I'm assuming a mail package needs to be installed on the server. The PHP code is fine and worked on the previous server. I'm a noob when it comes to server management. What needs to be installed on the server so that the mail() function works?
I am looking for an expert who can help me configure my dedicated server to ensure my email gets delivered to Yahoo.
I have an autoresponder script hosted on the server. The script was previously hosted with another host and I got excellent deliverability to Yahoo, Gmail, Hotmail and everyone else.
Unfortunately the volume of mail was too large for that host, so now I have a dedicated server. Since I moved to the dedicated server (two weeks ago), my mail does not get delivered to Yahoo. It doesn't even go into the junk mail folder. It just disappears.
I am very strictt about using confirmed optin for my lists, so it's not a blacklist issue. Right from day one on the new server, my mail did not reach Yahoo. So it must be the way my server is set up.
If there is someone who knows how to resolve this, I am willing to pay you to solve the problem for me. Or, if there is anyone who can give me some advice, that would be much appreciated.
I have a virtual dedicated server with GoDaddy. I don't know to much about managing a server, but have been doing ok for the last 5 months or so (so please make any explainations VERY simple)
I run several pretty heavy traffic sites, and the scripts on the sites send out automatic notifications to the user base that has requested such notifications (new responses, new listings etc..) and in the past few days NONE of those emails are making it through.
The mail just DISAPPEARS! I'm not getting any bounced email, the mail queue manager has only the same spam as not being allowed through, and I have restarted exim, GoDaddy also says that mail IS being sent from the server, they just can't explain why it isn't being delivered, and I'm not going over the max amount I can send daily.
I have NO clue what is going on and ANY help is REALLY appreciated!
Also, the forwarders are still working (mail sent to user@domain.com still gets successfully forwarded to the correct email address)
I have enabled domainkeys in the mail server and all the emails going out of the server are signed by domainkeys. Yahoo confirms the domainkeys as verified for each message sent to their servers. However, Yahoo still delivers the emails to the spam folder instead of the inbox. I have done the domainkeys setup only an hour ago. Does Yahoo take time to recognize the sender server as genuine and deliver all the emails to the inbox or is there some other reason for the emails going to the spam folder? One thing is sure, Yahoo sucks and it sucks big time.
I am having trouble with all mail from my web server being delivered to the Yahoo! spam folder. After doing some reading, I have set up an SPF record and domain keys on the server, but the messages are still being sent to spam.
Here are the headers from an e-mail I sent to Yahoo! that was marked as spam:
(Note: I've made a few replacements so that my server's identity and my identity are not obvious.) ...
