I am running plesk 11.05 Plesk on windows server. I have noticed this things twice...
While migrating accounts one server to another Smartermail not showing actual mail received date. For all accounts and emails Smartermail showing Migration date..
My more than 10000 emails showing migration date as received date..
The most common way is tar the whole files and downlaod it. But as there's also mysql DB. The common way is usually take a lot of time to restore it.

I am converting my current site [URL] ... from one software to another. I am testing it on a temporary domain name [URL] .....
Once i finish testing i want to move the .co site to the .com site and i don't know the best way to do this.
An obvious way would be to move all of the files and databases to the .com site after first deleting all of the files at the .com site. I would also have to do a few tweaks to the software to make sure it's pointing to the .com and not .co where iI tested.
but this method seems clunky.
Is there a way to just point the .com to the .co when I'm ready to 'move' and therefore nothing would actually get 'moved'?? both the .com and .co are on the same VPS.
I have LAMP -server running and I was wondering how to test it's performance.
So is there any good tools for that? I'm interest how many http queries my server could handle etc.
What are new methods to High secure a linux server ? (For webhosting company)
Please write something you know for Linux Security Methods (New version of OS).
I have a server with DedicatedBox.net. My billing cycle is 26th every month, but they always disconnect my server if I don't make payment before 22th or 23th. I complained to them by email, their helpdesk and WHT PM. They did response to me, but can't have the issue resolved.
In this month, I forgot to pay in advance. They disconnected my server on 23th as always. I sent a ticket #499717 and nobody responses to me. Whether they disappear or just ignore me, it's a warning to me, so I decided to leave them. Luckily I have a backup for all my data.
This is my bad experience with DedicatedBox.net.
The other server that I'm working on issues the wrong date/time when I run
$ date

I tried the same command on the other server

View 7 Replies View RelatedI am in the process (or my server manager is) of migrating my server from one provider to another. Once all the files have been migrated and everything is "set" on the new server, what do I need to do with respect to the name servers? I currently have 2 name servers NS1.Mymainwebsite.com and NS2.Mymainwebsite.com. Each registered with an IP address from my current server host. Once I migrate, do I only need to re-register the name servers under my main website with their new IPs? Or does every person with a web site domain on my server need to "re-register" the IP address of the name servers.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI'm currently running various sites on a single server but cause the requirements are no longer satisfied by the current configuration i started renting a more powerful server in a different provider. Both servers are running CPANEL/WHM. I have migrated sites from WHM servers before but the problem i had was having to update all domains to point to the dns servers of the new server - which is harder than it sounds when the sites (and domains) belong to clients. Is is possible to move to the new server without having to update the domain registrars?
View 3 Replies View RelatedI want to migrate my old server to a new more powerful one. There is only one board running on the server.
Both servers have WHM/CPanel and I've been told it would make things easier.
I have a few questions about server migration :
- Is it possible to avoid downtime ?
- If I leave my board on the old server active, is it possible not to lose data ?(posts and topics)
Our business website [URL] .... needs to switch hosts and I am researching exactly what I will need to keep in mind for doing so.
Current host: hostonfiber.com (managed)
Migrating to: GoDaddy (managed, Dedicated linux based server)
OS: Linux CentOS 64-BitCPU: Intel® Core™ i5 - 4 coresRAM: 8 GBStorage: 2 x 1 TB hard drivesBandwidth: 10 TB per month
I have never switched servers before and would like to make certain there are no issues or downtime with the migration process.
Before I get started I am looking to compile a comprehensive checklist or order of operations so to speak, things I will need to keep in mind, technical info I will need to gather and processes I will need to fulfill in order to make certain the website functions as it should for all applications.
We are thinking of upgrading servers soon and had bad experience in the past while migrating servers. Are there any professional companies out there that can do the job ?
View 6 Replies View RelatedI have a dedicated server which I need to migrate all sites to a reseller account on a different host.
It comes down to 6 sites that I must not lose any emails.
On the source server, I have full access to it. It's CentOS, WHM, cPanel, etc. On the destination reseller account (downtownhost), I have access to WHM, and individual cPanel. But I can't see any transfer or restore options on the WHM, though on the individual cPanel account, I see a restore option which states:
Quote:
This feature allows you to restore parts of your cPanel by uploading your partial backup zip file(s) that you downloaded from the backup feature.
The following can be restored:
* Home Directory
* MySQL Databases
* Email forwarders configuration
* Email filters configuration
My plan is so far:
1) Generate a full backup for each site on the source server.
2) Create the accounts on the destination reseller account. (Is it possible before I update the IP of the nameserver to point to the new server?)
3) Restore the sites with this wizard I mentioned above in each cPanel.
4) Change the nameserver host IP to the new server.
5) Hold my fingers and bless every living creature for a smooth move.
if I could do this any better, trying not to lose any emails in the process.
I have a new Server (CentOS Linux 7.1.1503) and will migrate the Data from my old Server (Ubuntu 14.04 LTS) with the Migration Manager. Both Servers running with Plesk 12.0.18

I am planning to build my own site, but the problem is that I still don't have a domain and a hosting site..
I wanted to buy one but they all requested for a credit card number.. I'm still a student now and unfortunately I have no credit card..
Does anyone know any other way of paying those hosting sites and registering a domain w/o using credit card or something..
Or maybe since i'm still new, should I go for free hosting then? but my site uses MySql for database, is there a free hosting site that lets you use a database?
I am on a server with ssh disabled and automated cpanel backups disabled. I would like to back up all of my client accounts to my laptop in one go. So far, I think I've come across two options:
Option 1: rsync w/o SSH
I am not sure how to do this. Most tutorials I've found use ssh, and I can't figure out what other options there are.
Option 2: write a script that backs up all accounts and places them into a file on the server which I can then download.
Which option is better? Is there anything else I can do? I've been at this all day and haven't found a good solution.
Very quick question please post if neither of the above. If you were to order hosting online which would you use: paypal or google checkout?
Any others please post below?
What are the different methods to drop DDOS attack?
View 10 Replies View RelatedWith my sshd installation, I have password authentication disabled, and only accept key-based auth. What I want to do is, make sshd lie about it's accepted authentication methods, or even make up a few to confuse anyone who's trying to connect. For example,
[root@vps2 ~]# ssh hah.cx
Permission denied (publickey).
I'd like to make it show something like,
[root@vps2 ~]# ssh hah.cx
Permission denied
how do you guys reset the Administrator (for windows) and root password (linux)?
Do you guys use any kind of tools, boot-cd, software?
from about 3-4 days, the cpu of my server, from an average of 0-15% load, grew up to a constant 80-90-100% cpu load.
There were two processes called php-cgi.exe IWAM_PLESK(default) that, each one, constantly burned 30-40% of cpu load.
So, stopping websites one by one, I found the website that was the cause of the cpu overload.
On my "old" windows vps, there were processes called with the name of the website hosted (for example websitename_web.exe), so it was easy to immediately find exactly what website was involved in the hypotetical cpu or ram overload issue.
How can set a different date (of the system date) on my VPS?
I try with "date -s" but I can't change it.
I need to set up the year to 2004, for a legacy application.
I had a big scare today. My server (vps) went down and I had no way of contacting my provider because their whole system had crashed.
I've got backups but I had never thought of a provider crash, so I left the backups on my server. I would like to keep an up-to-date backup on my computer at home.
How do I do this? I've heard of rsync, but I don't know what it is or how it works.
