View 14 RepliesAre there companies out there that we can purchase IP's from? We might be moving data centers in 6 months and I am sick of asking my customers to always change their IP's every year.
Are there companies that we can purchase an IP block from and then carry those over to different data centers?
I am looking for something like a /26.
We currently have (2) /27's with our data center right now, but I would prefer a single /26 to keep all our IP's in the same range.
I've looked at trying to get them from ARIN, but the minimum they want to sell is a /22.
Also, how easy is it for data centers to announce your own IP space?
They seem to sell or help you get Provider Independent IP space and AS numbers, is this a scam or is it something allowed by ARIN?

I need to be able to FTP in and upload/download.
It is to upload backup files from my shared hosting account, so I have a backup.
off server Backup FTP space. Anyone can recommend some hosts which provide these services and have any experience with them.

what i need is, trusted remote backup space for websites.
i googled and found many, but i would love to know who is trusted and who isn't .
i don't need massive space, around 10-15 GB and about 100 GB monthly traffic .
Does any reliable hosting company that offers hundreds of gigs space allow "personal backups", ie. non-web content? I've been looking at ToS of some big names but most if not all don't allow this.
It would be only 1-2 gigs, so I might get away with it anyway on most hosts, but would like to avoid problems in the future. Dreamhost offers both SVN and rsync, which I'd like a lot, but they clearly forbid such use.
And, I do have an external hard drive and very important files are also on DVD and memory stick, but since I need to purchase webhosting I'm looking at this extra option too.
When I look around almost all offers are webhosting as
Dedicated or Managed servers with PHP, MxySQL and so on.
What I need is (big) pure backup space which must be at least
accessible by (reliable and pretty fast but not absolute ultar-high-speed) ftp server (which supports resuming of ftp-sessions).
Needed space: 200 GB
Traffic per month: 200-500 GB (can be at night)
(only) Nice to have (but not absolutely required):
- TLS/SSL Encryption for ftp
- 2-5 more ftp accounts (sharing the same space)
- crontab and perl scripts
- WebDav
How I can import my backups from remote backup space to my VPS.

I don't need much space a GB would be more then enough as what I'm backing up is only about 250mb currently.
Does anyone know of a good company that offers FTP backup space for a real low price.
I changed the DUMP_TEMP_D directory in psa.conf.
I have set it on /var/backups and given the permission 1777.
I have rebooted the psa service and initialized the backup again but it always returns that error.
Moreover, if I run the command df -h, the tmp directory doesn't appear.
Whenever I am trying to take backup through Parallels Plesk (Plesk version:12.0.18 Update #53) getting an error "Error: Insufficient disk space for backup. "
Default backup location is '/var/lib/psa/dumps' with enough space (Near 1TB). Then why showing above error message?
Version Details:
Version Parallels Plesk v12.0.18_build1200140811.16 os_CentOS 7
OS CentOS Linux 7.1.1503 (Core)

How much local disk space is necessary for a full backup of 240 GB data to a remote ftp?
I have 314 GB free on my local disk, but this is still not enough.
The backup process is 100% after round about 4 hours, according to Backup Manager.
But there are still tar processes until the disk is full.
It appears that my clients disk space usage calculation is including admin full server FTP backups that I am doing.
This shouldn't be the case, these full server backups that I'm doing should not count towards my clients plans disk space allowance.
To provide Shared SSL on cpanel linux, need to install SSL on WHM and let client to use/access like [url]. However, it can alwasy lead to abusing of bandwidth because with accessing[url], they can use server's bandwdith, not client's.
Is there anyway to prevent it? so only enable [url]? instead of using firewall to block port or like that.and enable [url
im running out of space on one of my sites but i have more then plenty of data transfer.
Unfortunately my hosting packaged it weird where they provide not enough hd space. Im trying to figure out is there a way where i can use another server or hosting company that can provide space only and use their servers just for space?
i think amazon.com offered this but wasnt sure how exactly this works.
Apache 2.2.25 on windows 32
I have a ProxyPass that looks like
ProxyPass /Share Documents http://partner2/Shared Documents/
But Apache will not start with spaces. I tried
ProxyPass /Shared%20Documents http://partner2/Shared%20Documents/
Apache would start but the passthrough doesn't work. What do I need to do? I have several url's with spaces.
I'm planing on virtualizing my server and selling off windows 2008 virtual machines running on windows server 2008 hyper-v.
Is it common for people with dedicated servers to sell off virtual slices?
Is it common for 10-15$+/month to provide only 1 database?
View 12 Replies View RelatedI am looking to get hosting for site that I want to build. At the moment I am looking for shared hosting. Things that I need from the host are unlimited MySQL databases, Unlimited Domains/Sub-Domains, 5GB Disk Space and 10 GB Data transfer. My budget is about $10/month. I know hostgator provides 1 month for 1cent after coupon. I know hostgator oversells but their plans meet my requirements and from what I have read here they aren't too bad. Are there any other hosts that provide the first month for free or close to free, I would like to try out the hosting service for a month to see for myself how they are.
View 13 Replies View RelatedI am a front end designer/developer with no server-side expertise. I am probably going to have to provide hosting to my freelance clients very soon. These would be small WP sites with low traffic, but there could be as many as 50 domains being hosted at a time just to begin with.
I need the host provider to do all the tech work and provide support to me, if not to the clients (who will inevitable contact me to deal with problems, which is OK). I am not able to manage/troubleshoot my own server.
I am considering Mosso/Rackspace, but recently I've heard some very negative comments on forums (such as this one) that are concerning me.
Does anyone have a recommendation given my needs and experience level with servers/hosting? I am not looking for a "cheap deal" - I need reliable service and peace of mind.
I mean like no ID checks and they provide instant setup if I am paying by paypal. I know credit card they find it risky but I am paying with paypal they should not ask for any ID verification and Hostgator claims they provide instant setup but its very rare they flag your order even if you pay by paypal.
View 14 Replies View RelatedAs the subject implies, does anyone know of any VPS providers that provide free OS reloads, if at all possible? The reason I'm asking is because I am planning on building my Linux system administration skills, allowing me to eventually manage my own server. I am real competent when it comes to Windows, however, I really don't want to use it as much as possible.
So if you know of a VPS provider that provides free OS reloads, I would be real grateful if you could share them to me.
I want to register a domain from some organization. During the registration the registrar asks me to provide a primary DNS with an IP address and a secondary DNS with an IP address.
Because I have already a website with a godaddy hosting, I want that may new domain also points to my godaddy hosting. So I have to provide the DNS of my godaddy hosting to the domain registration company.
But my question is; Which IP address do they require? Do they ask me the IP address of my DNS’s (NS43.DOMAINCONTROL.COM, NS44.DOMAINCONTROL.COM) or the IP address of the server on which my website is running.
in my country 99% of web masters do not know what cpanel is!
they hardly have any other way of controling things
they use ssh or telnet or ftp and send a support request
now my question how many percentage of hosting companies in the world do not provide cpanel?
And if you as a host do not provide cpanel how should you expalin that to the client?
Is cpanel really necessary?
I have a web server for shared hosting and I'd like to know if it's possible to offer Jabber. It seems Jabber is not like MySQL that is suitable for a shared environment, right? Is there a way for each account to have its own Jabber server?
