View 0 Replies View RelatedI work in torrent marketing niche (legit and fully legal marketing) and I need a solution that will allow me to host about 3000 torrents at a time. I don't know how to solve this so I'm looking for help from someone who knows a bit about hosting and torrents. Please help me to find the best solution for my needs. I would prefer hosting it on couple smaller vps servers than on one dedicated. I used to host it on windows server, but utorrent crashes with more than 600 torrents. I think I would add no more than 300 torrents per vps.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI would like a VPS so I may download my torrents on the VPS then ftp them home, I am with provider now but got told that's a not allowed to host "those" files.
So is there any one who does not monitor, is dirt cheap etc..
I looked in the offers forum and thought these looked good, bit not too sure if what I want to do is allowed/monitored.
how can I seed a torrent from my dedicated server?
When I build the torrent with Torrent Software, I have the possibility to add a HTTP as seed. The intention is to use my server as seed of this torrent. However I don't know what I need to change or configure in my server. I searched the internet for info about this, but wasn't able to find any info.
The torrent is an ebook written by me with public released domain rights, so there aren't any legal issues. Basically the problem/inquiry is 100% technical.
Im setting up a download service which allows users to download files to there space via different methods.
As Torrents are one of the methods, I need a dedi serve host which allows torrents.
It can be either:
a) Ignore DMCA Notices - Much easyier as it saves us the trouble.
b) Forward all notices to us to reply and we handle and delete offending files.
Does anyone know a good torrent VPS hosting service? It does not matter if they have seed hosting or not, I just want to be able to host my torrent site which have links to other seed links.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI've been looking for a VPS with windows, ability for torrents and unmetered bandwidth. I've tried leaseweb and I did not like their service one bit for support. i did not use their 10mb unmetered though. I then tried FDC and they were ok, but now I'm looking for something else that is more like FDC then anything. With FDC I was running windows 2003, unmetered bandwidth and was doing some torrents a bit. Not music or movies though, i hate 99.9% of the music out and don't bother with movies or software or any of that junk. my speed was fine at up to 100mb literally. downloading from the net to my FDC server would go as much as 80mb or so, peaking a bit faster for like half a second. Anyhow, the speed their was fine.
So I'm just looking for something else is all. The server I was on was a VDS and cost was for me $79. I had 512mb ram and 100gb drive space.
I want to host a torrent search engine (not a torrent site with actual torrents hosted, only a search engine).
It has to be really fast. I have a few questions?
What hosting is required for this site to be lightning fast? Most of it is due to the coding of the site but how much of it is reliant of the server? Any suggestions?
Also, is it better to start small and upgrade as more visitors come? Or is it just better to get a big server?
Current Forum users: 550,000 users
Traffic: 700,000 to 1,000,000 page views a day with 70,000 – 100,000 visits a day.
Monthly bandwidth needed around : 18000GB (18TB)
Now can someone tell me what kind of solution i need to host this website & keep sit running smoothly.
I`m search for manage dedicated server wich allow torrent trackers scripts.
Can some on tell me wich is best to use?
I have noticed in a few Windows server tha the server gets hacked and there are tons of files which are mostly DVD rips and games being transferred away which results in huge amount of data transferred and bandwidth consumption increasing to as far as 29 Mbps. On further investigation, I find that all the files get stored in either the Recycler directory or the System Volume Information directories in any of the drives. Now these two directories are protected operating system files. Even if there is a windows firewall installed, there is no difference. I have even noticed that in some servers there is an automatic exception rule added in the windows firewall enabling the torrent client to communicate outside the server. This seems to be a common problem with Windows 2003 server and seems to be some backdoor of Windows allowing hackers to use the server for seeding. Has anybody come across such a problem or know the solution? Kindly help me with this.

I've made a how to, based on my personal knowledge about upgrading a CentOS 3, RedHat 9, or 8?, Fedora Core, and maybe others, to the new CentOS 4.5 OS. (or CentOS 4.x)

I've myself upgraded many servers this way, (even, tonight, I upgraded another, so I finally decided to do this with all my notes)
linux and after several days testing different distributions and a bunch of different ways (e.g. freenx, vnc XFCE ...) I've decided to setup a vnc-server on CentOS-5-i386-minimal and use KDE as a desktop environment.
After reloading my vps with centos-5-i386-minimal, I logged in as root and executed:
Code:
yum update
yum -y groupinstall "KDE (K Desktop Environment)"
yum -y install vnc vnc-server firefox X11 xorg
I then added a user "abt" and set the password. Then I logged in as abt and execute : vncserver, it asked for the password and created the appropriate .vnc directory and files.
I then edited xstartup file and replaced "twm &" with "startkde &" and executed vncserver once again, this created desktop number 2 for me.
The problem is that after running TightVNC(on vista) and entering IPNUMBER:2, It successfully connects to vnc-server but what i get is a black screen with X cursor!
i have a colo server, lately im having problem, every 2-3 oclock in the morning my server crash, i asked the server management to have a look at it but no luck, they install rpm, reduce the http max, etc, etc ( i dont want to mention the name since my server management have helped me alot and its not fair for them if i speak a bad thing about them ) anyway,
I bought the server from siliconmechanics iServ R254

Is there really no package in yum for APC (Alternative PHP Cache)? Everything I'm seeing suggests I build it from source.
Is this the way to go? I can, it just seems unlikely to me that there's no build of it.
is there any GUI ( pre installed ) in centOS 4 ..
