Where Can I Get Plesk For Cheap? (colo DC Does Not Offer It)

Feb 25, 2008

The datacenter I am looking at to colo does not offer Plesk at all.

My only option is to buy direct from Plesk, however I was wondering if there were companies that did external licenses of somesort.

What Is The Max Bandwidth A 100/10 Port Can Offer

Sep 2, 2009

i know 100/10 port can offer 100M max,

but i see a article say the performance of 100/10 port usually can not reach 100M,

if it can reach 50%,it is already very good.

because a user want to rent 50M bandwidth from me,

i worry if my switch may really reach 50M on the 100/10 port for him,

my firend ask me had better use a 1000/100/10 port for the case.

my switch is d-link des-3526.

Cheap Bandwidth

Dec 3, 2007

I run a video streaming site and currently buying 2 gigabits of premium bandwidth for it.

I have fair amount of visitors from countries from which I never do any income. I don't want to block this visitors but I'm looking into possibility of buying some cheap non-premium bandwidth for this purpose.

Is it realistic to find something less than (or equal) let's say $6k/gigabit with one gigabit (at first) commitment?

Bandwidth Carriers Expensive And Cheap

Aug 13, 2009

A major part of web hosts are running linux these days, with congestion control mechanism 2.6 kernel and windows 2008 are now able to get full speed over higher latency even 200+, with the DSL an all major part of countries access to internet has been easy.

Now question is how exactly an expensive carrier such as MCI/ATT can make a difference for a website. expensive i mean by anything over $10 per mbit. Am sure for things like mission critical, financial institutions and for websites who need reach for every corner of 3rd world countries would need the best of the breed bandwidth. ok for the others who is always a regular guy or small business, is the expensive provider worth it? am trying to find out. please write your opinions on cheap/medium/expensive providers worthness of using such.

Internap is whole different as it will make a bandwidth mix superior which bgp can not do.

Cheap High Transfer/bandwidth Hosting

May 22, 2008

I know you get what you pay for with hosting, but with the ridiculous overselling going on I am finding it hard to work out how much bandwidth I can genuinely expect to get with about 500MB space and 99%+ (preferably more like 99.5%) uptime for $5/month.

I will be using all this bandwidth for hosting legal mp3s (sanctioned for promotional use by labels and artists), and would prefer the host to be based in the US or UK.

Reccomendation For 25GB Per Month Of Bandwidth Site

Apr 28, 2008

Right now his website uses around 25GB per month of bandwidth and has only been open about 1-2 months. This is a phpBB 3.0 forum with around 7000 members (most active) and grows every week by another hundred members or so.

Right now I am hosting him on my dreamhost account, but he wants to set himself up on his own host. I agree with him since dreamhost is having a lot of mySQL database connection errors that last a long time a few times a month and he needs to be up and running 24/7 for his visitors.

He would like a host that can easily support this bandwidth (is 100-200 GB per month a good estimate taking into account expansion? also he is going to open up two new sites that would be equally as popular most likely) And he also wants the host to allow for future upgrades to bandwidth and/or storage.

Storage is not a huge issue for him. he isn't hosting any crazy media. Just a 2 cms installs and 2 forum installs. so 20 - 30 GB would probably be good right?

reliability and performance of the host should be a little better than dreamhost's since this shouldn't be an overseller type host right?

Consuming Heavy Bandwidth Upto 2000 US$+ Per Month

Jun 14, 2008

We are facing a very problematic situation since last several months due to accessive bandwith usage. But we are sure this is only local traffic.

We have 2 Servers with our hosting provider
Server A - this is a VPS
all our webfiles/domains/dns/nameservers reside on this server

Server B - this is a dedicated server
contains only databases

(we are actively running vbulletin based forums on this servers)

Since last several months we are facing huge bandwith increase since we have transferred only our databases to Server B. (earlier database + everything was on Server A) We never ever consumed even 50% of the entire allocated bandwith in past when we were on Server A.

But only after moving the database from Server A to Server B we have found this tremendous increase,

Can we do something about same ? as both the servers belong to same hosting provider.
We are not sure but expect that this is only local network traffic between 2 servers.

Why Is Cheap Colo More Expensive Than Cheap Dedicated?

Oct 19, 2007

This is probably a dumb question, but I've been curious about something. While shopping around for either a cheap dedicated server (less than $75/mo) or a cheap colo for a 1u server, I have noticed that the cheap dedicated servers are often less than a cheap colo, which seems odd to me since with a colo you bring your own machine.

For example, Sago Networks has cheap dedicateds for $50, $59, $79 etc. yet their cheapest colo option is $99. For Sago's $50 dedicated you get 1000GB transfer and 2 IP's, and with their $99 colo you get only get 100 GB transfer and 1 IP.

And Sago is not unusual in this respect. I've priced other providers that fall into this category and they have similar differences.

So why is colo more expensive than dedicated for similar, if not lower, features?

Looking For Provider That Can Offer A /24 (256) IP Addresses

Oct 2, 2008

Hi everyone - I'm looking for a dedicated service provider (US based) that can provide at least 256 IP addresses on a per server basis

I would also like the provider to offer 100mbit and preferably 1Gbit connections. If possible I would like to keep my costs under $200 a month, not sure if that's realistic but ya never know.

Total storage and data transfer limits aren't really an issue.

I found a company server . lu that provides a /64 IPv6 allocation, which is mindblowing - but they're europe based so that won't work.

How To Offer 100% Uptime With Cpanel

Apr 18, 2009

thinking about it's to find some solution for offer 100% uptime for my customers.

Actually I have 4 servers running cpanel, my idea it's to setup another server where I put 4 VPS with a copy of the servers, and in case them fails, I up the VPS.

Real dedicated server will be ns1.

And the VPS will be ns2.

What I don't know how to manage it's the cpanel license, because if I want to have a copy of the servers in VPS I have to pay that licenses sure?

Also, today I see the DNS ONLY cpanel, could be better option? I'm also testing some cloud systems like mosso cloud servers and gogrid, but this don't allow me to be 100% and free of hardware failures.

And yes, not 100% because it's impossible, but 99,9999999%

Do You Know Any Host That Offer RTO Servers

Mar 29, 2009

I saw on Pacific Rack they have a section where they offer Rent To Own (RTO) servers. This is what I've been looking for and would like to know if any other host have this kind of offering?

From what I read from the site, RTO servers feature server financing over a set period of months, allowing a capital strapped customer from the initial large expense of purchasing a server. RTO server's are subscribed to as dedicated servers with part of your monthly payment going torwards the cost of the server. Once the set period of months has been reached, the server ownership is transferred to you. You then convert to a colocation plan, benefiting from asset ownership. Once you own the server, you can do what you wish with it, including having it shipped to you. (taken from PR website)

Who Offer Unmetered Hosting?

I'm currently doing close to a 25,000 daily unique average on my site and coming close to 12TB or monthly bandwidth transfer. With most DS Hosting services, I would usually be offered virtual rack solutions with multiple machines that would help raise my monthly limit but it would be greatly cost effective if I just stuck with one powerful server that offers unmetered bandwidth at a great price.

Any DCs Offer Class C IP Ranges

Let me know any you have used, or any recommendations, or any places you know of that offer several IPs..

My justifiaction would be for SEO and SSL (As each SSL cert needs its own IP) -- a lot of datacenters don't like to give out more IPs, so I need some more lenient ones.
