Any DCs Offer Class C IP Ranges

Nov 2, 2008

Most dcs offer 1-25 ip addresses... looking for some that offer 100-300 IPs.

Let me know any you have used, or any recommendations, or any places you know of that offer several IPs..

My justifiaction would be for SEO and SSL (As each SSL cert needs its own IP) -- a lot of datacenters don't like to give out more IPs, so I need some more lenient ones.

How Do You Monitor Your Ranges For Blacklisted IPS

Oct 4, 2009

We have a few customers who have multiple C classes with us and we are wondering how most of you monitor for blacklisting.

We currently randomly pick a few IPS and check them once a month but this is not very thorough. We were wondering if there is a program out there that can check say a /20 automatically once a month or atleast something we can initiate an automated check once a month with?

WinVPS And Block Large IP Ranges

Apr 26, 2007

I'd like to block off large ranges of IP's, much like the iptables does for a Linux server. I want to cut out China and a few others completely? Can I do that just with the standard Win 2003? I know the IIS has tables, but I need to also include all things outside the IIS too. What software is better for this?

Plesk 12.x / Linux :: How To Limit Samba Accesses To Certain IP / Ranges

Jul 18, 2014

Samba accesses can be restricted to certain IP / ranges through the access tab in the Plesk Samba extension screen.This builds the /etc/samba/ smb. conf.include file with entered information.All well and good so far.

This file contains the standard 'do not modify...' text, so making manual changes directly here is undesirable. In Plesk are some Linux commands such as /usr/local/psa/bin/php_handler through which permitted changes can be made from the command line.

Is there a similar command included which would allow a shell script to make changes in a supported manner like the /usr/local/psa/bin/php_handler file does? any changes the script makes can be seen in the Plesk Panel and unless admin changes them through the panel will be persistent.

OpenVZ Different Gateways IP Ranges, Unpingable From Outside World "feature" Any Fix?

Dec 5, 2008

OpenVZ different gateways IP ranges, unpingable from outside world "feature" any fix?

The server main IP (eth0) is 200.44.32.42, the allocation is 200.44.32.40/29 - 200.44.32.41 being the GATEWAY.

The ADDITIONAL IP allocation is 200.44.32.96/28, 200.44.32.97 being the GATEWAY.

Now, if I be specific on /etc/sysconfig/network-scripts/ifcfg-eth0 and declare everything like so:

DEVICE=eth0
BOOTPROTO=none
BROADCAST=10.20.47.255
HWADDR=
IPADDR=10.20.42.198
NETMASK=255.255.248.0
NETWORK=10.20.40.0
ONBOOT=yes
GATEWAY=10.20.40.1
TYPE=Ethernet

Please ignore all the above IPs config.

Now, using that VE nodes on the 200.44.32.96/28 range are unpingable. How can I fix that?

Please take note that I remove all settings from ifcfg, and leave IPADDR and GATEWAY, the internet can ping the nodes. But within the 200.44.32.0/24 no-one can ping the nodes on the 200.44.32.96/28 range ( Which is my problem, that I came here to solve).

Here's the VE ...

IPs Versus C Class

May 28, 2008

I am getting into the dedicated server market and have a question...

I would like to get access to an entire Class C so 111.111.111.xxx - is that standard or should I assume someone offering a dedicated server with 1 IP only is giving say 111.111.111.1 ?

What would be the cost of being able to allocate different sites on the same class C?

Class C IP Block / ASN

Oct 16, 2007

I was told by my colocation provider that in order to get a Class C block through them we would have to upgrade to a full rack or get an ASN. At this time, we don't need the full rack space so I guess I have to go the ASN route (no pun intended).

I'm wondering how easy it is to get an AS number and about how long it would take. I did some research on the apnic site and it looks like the cost is $625 per year for just the AS numbers. Is this correct or is there anything else that we may need.

Class Action Lawsuit Against Hostdepartment

Jun 8, 2008

The worst hosting you can get is Hostdepartment.com followed by Webhostasp.com and then Vortechhosting.com. All these have major complaints online. Hostdepartment servers are down about 50/50. 50% of the time the server will have problems and downtime throughout the day. Maybe not down for hours, but the servers will drop from time to time maybe 10 minutes here and there. Also Ixwebhosting.com surprisingly has downtime. The server is actually currently down as this is being written. For those who wish to gather a class action lawsuit against hostdepartment, webhostasp or vortechhosting, you may contact me at cashzzz at hotmail. Alertra is a good tool for monitoring your site.

Did you ever hear of such service?

Different Level/tiers/class Of Hosting Company

Oct 1, 2009

My startup company has tasked me to look for a hosting company to get dedicated servers for their production (Web, DB) and operation (email, AD, etc) servers, 9 servers in total. I'm new to this whole industry and finding this forum really help me point myself in the right direction given so much junk and "partial" review sites out there.

I was able to get great reviews and recommendations off this forum but since I'm new, one area I'm not clear on is the different levels/tiers/class of hosting companies. For example, from what I am reading, Gigenet & Rackspace seem to be on a high end scale while CoreNetworks is on the low end but still excellent. Where would others like LiquidWeb, SteadFast, Softlayer fit in?

Can someone help me break it down into classes like cars such as budget/mid size/luxury or is it even possible? I'm just trying to get a sense of how to compare these companies as I'm getting quotes from them. These are some of the companies I'm looking at:
LiquidWeb
Gigenet
Softlayer
SteadFast
ThePlanet
Colocrosing
Iweb
DedicatedNow
CoreNetworks
Cartika
Servint
SingleHot

They all seem to have good reviews. I know some are truly managed and some just leave everything to you. I'm probably looking for something in between that has decent bandwidth and speeds. Our site won't be a public site so no large traffic requirements but we are spread out from NY to LA. We probably don't need the fastest speeds but somthing reliable. We are also in the health care industry so HIPAA maybe important but I'm still trying to determine that.

Looking For Provider That Can Offer A /24 (256) IP Addresses

Oct 2, 2008

Hi everyone - I'm looking for a dedicated service provider (US based) that can provide at least 256 IP addresses on a per server basis

I would also like the provider to offer 100mbit and preferably 1Gbit connections. If possible I would like to keep my costs under $200 a month, not sure if that's realistic but ya never know.

Total storage and data transfer limits aren't really an issue.

I found a company server . lu that provides a /64 IPv6 allocation, which is mindblowing - but they're europe based so that won't work.

And the VPS will be ns2.

What I don't know how to manage it's the cpanel license, because if I want to have a copy of the servers in VPS I have to pay that licenses sure?

Also, today I see the DNS ONLY cpanel, could be better option? I'm also testing some cloud systems like mosso cloud servers and gogrid, but this don't allow me to be 100% and free of hardware failures.

And yes, not 100% because it's impossible, but 99,9999999%

Do You Know Any Host That Offer RTO Servers

Mar 29, 2009

I saw on Pacific Rack they have a section where they offer Rent To Own (RTO) servers. This is what I've been looking for and would like to know if any other host have this kind of offering?

From what I read from the site, RTO servers feature server financing over a set period of months, allowing a capital strapped customer from the initial large expense of purchasing a server. RTO server's are subscribed to as dedicated servers with part of your monthly payment going torwards the cost of the server. Once the set period of months has been reached, the server ownership is transferred to you. You then convert to a colocation plan, benefiting from asset ownership. Once you own the server, you can do what you wish with it, including having it shipped to you. (taken from PR website)

Who Offer Unmetered Hosting?

I'm currently doing close to a 25,000 daily unique average on my site and coming close to 12TB or monthly bandwidth transfer. With most DS Hosting services, I would usually be offered virtual rack solutions with multiple machines that would help raise my monthly limit but it would be greatly cost effective if I just stuck with one powerful server that offers unmetered bandwidth at a great price.
