Aug 20, 2008whenever I open a new account in Cpanel it assigns a new IP to the new host. I want to know how I can change the cpanel settings to assigns a shared IP to the new host.

Jan 3, 2008I am running WHM/cPanel (latest) and my server has 8 IP addresses. The first IP is the main shaired address but cPanel appears to only let me add one site to each of the additional IP addresses.

May 17, 2008I'm setting up a cPanel server and have an initial 5 IPs with the server. By default, it assigned two IPs to the nameservers, but I'm getting a bit confused as to best practice policies. Is it a bad idea to have your nameserver IPs being used for accounts?
I imagine the answer is yes, it is a bad idea, as I've not seen it done by others. I would guess the biggest reason would be that you wouldn't want a bad acocunt to get the IP blocked.
I'd like to hear opinions on the matter, as cPanel seems to be set up to automatically assign the first IP available to both the default account IP and the first nameserver.
Adding IP Address To WHM
May 21, 2009about adding IP addresses to cPanel.
I've added 8 IP's to my WHM, and I am slightly confused...
I moved one domain to the new IP address and it worked fine after 15 minutes. I then moved another to a new IP address and it did not work after waiting over 30 minutes. The only difference between the two accounts is one account has 2 domains attached to it and one has about 15 domains attached to it.
If I just were to leave it sitting and wait would it switch to the new IP?
I would have no problem with waiting except for the fact that it resolves to the "cPanel/WHM is now installed" screen, rather then the website.

Dec 14, 2007I'm a novice to Windows hosting. I have an account with DailyRazor which is ASP.NET 2.0 with Microsoft SQL Server 2005. It has Plesk 8.2 control panel.
When I go in and try to add a User to the SubWeb which contains all the ASP.NET files from a project, I get the error message The user 'xxxxxxxx' is not authorized to execute the 'Create Accounts' method.
Is this a webserver configuration error or something I did wrong?

Jan 28, 2007I recently got a new hosting plan, and I'm wondering what the best way to redirect a Dyndns.org domain is. I'm currently hosting a small site on my old server, which I have httpd.conf access to, using a Dyndns.org address. I'd like to have the Dyndns.org point to my new server at DTH, but it seems that the Dyndns.org system isn't compatible with a shared hosting environment. So, my question is, what's the most seamless way I could make a Dyndns.org address point to a folder or subdomain on a shared hosting account? I considered pointing the Dyndns.org domain directly to the IP, but that wouldn't redirect to the specific folder that the site would be in.
I'd really like to keep the dyndns.org address the same in search engines if possible.
If I issue a 301 "Permanent Move" code, will the search engines update with the new address. If this is too hard, maybe it would be better if I let go of the old address and just setup a redirect to retain my traffic.

- Add proxy VirtualHost to httpd.conf to automatically redirect unconfigured cpanel, webmail, webdisk and whm subdomains to the correct port (requires mod_rewrite and mod_proxy)
- Automatically create cpanel, webmail, webdisk and whm proxy subdomain DNS entries for new accounts. When this is initially enabled it will add appropriate proxy subdomain DNS entries to all existing accounts. (Use /scripts/proxydomains to reconfigure the DNS entries manually)
- Allow users to create cpanel, webmail, webdisk and whm subdomains that override automatically generated proxy subdomains
Those following configuration is ** set by default.
I have never changing option in "tweak settings" after 1-20 automatic update to STABLE version since I tweaked the WHM from first time installed.
Domain cannot be accessed from http port, subdomain disappear.

But now that I pointed the domain I can no longer access the old server from the web.

Now there are about 10 domains on the IP.
what would my URL look like to access one of those accounts in plesk in the browser?

Jun 5, 2007I currently use a HostGator shared plan which caps off database connections at 25. HG support said my only choice is to move to a dedicated server which means my monthly hosting cost jumps from $14.95 to $174.00! Something I'm not too excited about paying.
Can anyone offer any suggestions on Virtual Private Servers running *nix? Would a VPS be a good alternative to an expensive HG dedicated server or do you recommend I just suck it up and go dedicated? I just can't believe how much they want considering I've seen some VPS for under $100. If I did go with a VPS, would there be an easy way to move all my files, databases, SSL certs, etc to the new server?
