Worst Web Hosting Site Award Goes To SerVage
Apr 6, 2008
Well friends I was just ruunning an blog facing 60% of downtime daily over months , but this was an small part of disaster waiting for me ahead as i tried to use some of the fake bandwidth they pretend to give , and i uploaded few files next day I find my sites suspended ,Reason being
"It is not allowed to host filesharing services on our servers. Reason beeing that such sites are often used to share copyrighted material."
Well thats what writen in there TOS itself.
Without file sharing how can one imagine to use 5000 GB/month + with the limit of 4lacks click also there.
Servage is my worst Nightmare come true.
Why one should not host on Servage.net ??
1. Fake stats they overcount the bandwidth and space.
2. 4 lacks hit limit after that your site gets suspended in real its only 4000 thanks to there fake stats once again.
3. Sql errors ,thats became part of daily life once you host on servage.
4.servage 404 not found page everywhere ,well they would not miss an single opertunity to advertize from your site , whenever they like they would put there own 404 not found page and wait for you to complain. This is the way this cheap hosting gorws.

I am posting this thread as a warning about servage.net!
My web site has been unavailable for > 1 month now, yes for more than a month.
When you go to our site www.oznotes.net you get a message
Service Temporarily Unavailable
The server is temporarily unable to service your request due to maintenance downtime or
capacity problems. Please try again later.
With servage.net Temporarily = > than 1 month.
I have been trying to get the support people to respond to me about this issue now for
weeks & there only response is that I need to be P A T I E N T.
Obviously I am being unreasonable when I complain about no web site for > than a month.

I have read a few of the threads here bashing 1&1, and have just had my own problems with them culminating to today. If you are thinking of purchasing from 1&1 don't do it!
In the fall of 2007, a friend and I where going to start a small local website. We found 1&1 which offered cheap hosting with all of the server specs that we needed. I purchased 6 months of hosting from them using my CC. Unfortunately our website did not last any longer than a few months, and by the time those 6 months where up I no longer needed the hosting. Thinking that the host would simply expire (unless I authorized another payment) I just let it go, only to see a charge for another $29.95 on my bank statement.
I called them, and was sent to cancel.1and1.com (a URL that is suspiciously absent from their website) and followed the instructions to cancel the account. I requested that the site be canceled at the next billing date (figured I could use it as a development server or something since I had already paid for it).
In January of 2008 (1/22/2008 to be exact) I received yet another charge from them! I called again explaining my situation, and said I had tried to use the online cancellation form but apparently the account was not canceled. The customer support representative requested information from me, and verified that he had personally canceled the account and that I would be receiving a full refund. I was satisfied (at the time) and rather naively forgot about the whole ordeal.
Today (July 22, 2008) I received ANOTHER charge for another 6 months of hosting. Keep in mind I haven't used this account since January . . . I requested a refund for January - July (as I didn't want, nor did I use this account). I was told my name wasn't on file and therefore I couldn't cancel it. Despite the fact that I was told the account was canceled twice, and I had the credit card information, billing address, and security questions (among other things) to prove I was the owner of the account.
One representative in particular even yelled at me, and basically told me I was incompetent. So I asked to speak to her supervisor. Her supervisor wasn't any more helpful and he told me: "I will not be canceling your account and I will not be giving you a refund. I'm not continuing this conversation" and hung up on me.
I have filed a credit dispute with my bank, and had to change my credit card number to prevent them from charging me again. I also filed a complaint with the BBB (not surprisingly they have an 'unsatisfactory' rating there), The Federal Trades Commission, and sent a letter to the Attorney General.
Now i'm waiting for my collections letter . . . as so many of you have received before. Absolutely ridiculous and unacceptable. No other hosting company has ever come close to being this much of a hassle!
I have submitted my story to Digg if anyone is interested:

I opened an account as a reseller with DSI hosting. Moved all my accounts over to them.
Within a week of the final move I started getting down times Every night for about half an hour or so. So I dropped them an email kindof hey guys is this some kind of reboot time nightly or what this downtime is making me look bad. After 450 minutes of downtime in the first week of November I get this email from them.

Due to recent employee changes and continuous server attacks we regretfully have to discontinue service.
We can no longer provide reliable customer service and server uptime. All servers will remain up for a period of 10 days from this notice for clients to generate backups and remove their accounts. You should due this ASAP.
Server port 80 is under constant attack and will be kept up as much as possible, all other ports including whm, cpanel, ftp and webmail have been going all along with no interruption (as of today).
There is no easy way to resolve these issues without destroying customer data and assigning new ips or just blocking all server access.
With this being said this is the best solution for our current clients. Please backup and remove all data ASAP.
Regards,
Ryan Gadmin@dsihosting.net

Now the website says nothing about them closing. In fact everything looks Business as Usual.
I have been doing this a couple of years now mostly just for friends but can only imagine how devestating something like this would be to someone who has quite a few accounts.
Just beware that if you are wanting a host this is not the one to choose.

I bought a hosting package from Yahoo Small Business India.
Initially i was happy because the package was cheap and had good features. Database was easily set up I installed php admin tool also with one click install. No other packages are available. One has to manually upload and install.
I tried to upload phpbb but i wasn't able to upload some files. I emailed them and asked why the server gives an error while uploading .htaccess files, the reply was we don't support it. I uploaded it without .htaccess and installed it. I installed wordpess and wanted to have clean URLs but yahoo does not support mod rewrite. I don’t know much about php and databases.
9th July 2008: While I was learning I modified some tables due to which my database administrator permissions were lost. I was able to login using phpadmin but unable to create new databases and modify previously created databases and tables. I emailed customer care regarding the problem and got a useless reply on 10th July that I should change the password of the database administrator.
I changed the password but the problem was not resolved. On 11th I again emailed the problem in detail with screenshots to the customer care. On 12th, I got a reply “we have forwarded this issue to the technical team and we will inform you once this issue is resolved.”
On 12th I emailed to ask when the problem will be resolved but got no reply from them. Till date (15th July) the problem is not resolved. No one even wants to reply to emails.
See below my emails and replies given by yahoo customer care:

My email to yahoo customer care on 9th July:
I have some problem with database. By mistake i modified my original user name which i created while setting up the database. Now i can't access the tables that were created with previous user name. When i log in using phpadmin and try to see any tables i get the message. Access denied. Moreover, I also cannot create any new tables. I have NOT modified the yroot user;. Can it be recovered.
Please help.

My email to yahoo customer care on 10th July:
Dear Sir,
Thanks for your reply. I have already done that from database administrator link but the problem is not resolved. This problem has started since yesterday because of my mistake. I modified the original database administrator "user name" from the database "mysql". After modification all my permissions have lost. I have not modified the yroot user. So can you grant the administrator permissions to new user The problem is that after logging in using phpadmin i don't have permission to create a new database. The databases and tables that I created earlier are also not available to me. I am also attaching the screenshot (.gif) of what error i am getting. When i click any database in phpadmin i get the following message:
SQL query:
SHOW TABLE STATUS FROM `wpress` ;
MySQL said:#1044 - Access denied for user to database 'wpress'
If there is no solution then please reset the database, so that MySQL database can be set up again.

I am an established web developer and a project manager in one of the TOP e-commerce company. Just giving you these details so that you can ACCOUNT and RELY on my review.
I have signed up with Hostforweb.com on 26th April 2008
On weekends I work for my business (my own not the company's for which I work full time).
Uploaded the few websites that were lying there for quite some time.
On 29 th April the websites went down, for which I opened a ticket with hostforweb.com support and got a reply from them saying that
"there was some mis configuration in the nodes which is rectified."
Today all of the sudden they suspended the account and sent a message saying they got a message from "Bank of America" (because of phising activity)
One of my business staff phoned me to my work place and informed about this and for which I was like "WHaTTTT"
I am being in the online business since 1998 and never had a complaint from any of my previous hosting or present hosting providers other than this silly service.
After reaching home from office (which is an 1hr 15minutes ago), I opened a ticket in their support section and the ticket was forwarded to account & billing department by level2 support person.
Later I got a reply from their accounts & Billing department which had a reply saying ...

So far 1and1.com seems to be the worst I've ever dealt with. I think they should fire the call centers they're hiring and actually find people to represent their company who actually care about their customers. All the people they are currently using sound so ignorant that I feel like I'm speaking to a robot. Through your personal experience, who do you think is the worst?

---------------------------------------
We have serveral vps servers from dmehosting.com. I would say never choose dmehosting.com for your sites. A vps server is down for more than 14 hours and still down. They do not reply to my tickets. They do not inform about the issues.
I had have many issues with them like 1 - 2 hours downtime but that's not really matter.
Now the server is down for more than 14 hours and still not up. I have even asked them to transfer this vps server to another working node but they are not responding.
DON'T CHOOSE DME HOSTING .COM FOR VPS SERVERS........IF YOU NEED HIGH UPTIME AND SECURE DATA.

I signed up for hosting with IX Web Hosting in April of 2007. There have been two occasions that they provided the perfect example of Terrible Customer Service. So much so, my last pony ride with IX Web Hosting was my last. I decided to call it quits and move my account to Host Gator.
I keep my most important sites on a dedicated server at Servint.net. If you are interested in a dedicated server or VPS, I highly recommend Servint. You will not beat the level of service and professionalism this company offers. But that’s another post in itself.
The point is, I had some SEO tests I wanted to perform and I was looking for a hosting company that would allow me to host 10 different domains in the same account on different ip addresses. IX Web Hosting had the plan I was looking for. So in April of 2007, I signed up for a hosting account.
Overall, I was pretty satisfied with the server performance at IX Hosting. I experienced very little if any downtime from server issues. They don’t offer a standard cpanel interface like most web hosts. It appears to be a proprietary / in house control panel.
It was pretty straight forward and with a little time I was up to speed.
Then on June 5, 2008, I got the following email from a System Administrator at IX Web Hosting.
---------------------------
Hello,
My name is Anthony, and I am a system administrator at IXWebhosting. I’m here to ensure a reliable and fast hosting / e-mail environment. This is the reason why I ask you to get in touch with us.
We have received numerous complaints from third-parties about spam originating from your website. As you may know, spam is an on-going problem for all internet users, hence all companies have very strict rules against spam. I am here to ensure that neither you nor any other customer is facing any downsides which could be the result of these spam regulations.
We ask you to immediately cease and desist any such activities. If you are unaware of this activity, please contact me or any of my colleagues via this ticket, phone or live-chat so that we can find the reason for the spam activity together and fix the issue instead of the symptom. Viruses and things of that nature may be installed on your computer and will cause the spamming. We recommend that you run an anti-virus program. If you currently do not possess an anti-virus program, you may download a free version. Please just follow the link below to find Google’s best links for free anti-virus software:
google.com/search?q=free+anti-virus+software [url]
In order to ensure your hosting and mail environment is working flawlessly, we ask you to get in touch with us within the next 72 hours. I highly appreciate your time.
Best Regards,
Anthony Washington

They identified the domain as bestadtracking.com. This is a domain I own but have never promoted. Not only had I not sent spam through IX Web Hosting, I averaged less than 200 sent email a month on all the domains on my account. So on June 6, 2008 I responded to IX Web Hosting with the following two messages.
-----------------------------------
Hi Anthony,
I can assure you I am not sending spam from this domain or any others. I’m a little surprised that this domain is in question? I set it up over a year ago and haven’t ever promoted it. I don’t send any type of email over this domain. I have no reason to. It gets no traffic or inquiries.
Are you sure there isn’t some type of mistake? Otherwise, there are a couple of php style contact forms on that site. Could a hacker use that sort of thing to send spam? How can we track this down?
Thanks,
Brent Crouch

-----------------------------------
Here is the second email I sent on the same day.
-----------------------------------
Hi Anthony,
I am using AVG on my computer and the scan completed finding no viruses. Besides that, I am using Outlook to manage the mail on several of my domains. I don’t even have a send account setup for bestadtracking.com on my computer. As I stated in the previous reply, I have no reason to since this domain is not promoted.
Can you give me the IP address of where the spam originates? I’d like to compare that to my IP address here at home and office.
Thanks,
Brent Crouch
-----------------------------------
I had no information to track the issue any further. The lack of response from IX Web Hosting left me to believe the issue had been resolved or there had been a mistake. Then 4 days later on June 10, 2008 I got this message.
-----------------------------------
Brent
We tried to reach you today in order to resolve this issue, but unfortunately it has been well over 72 hours since this ticket was placed. We must sadly suspend your services, please do not hesitate to call us at 1-800-385-0450 any time, day or night.
Best Regards
Ian
-----------------------------------
Amazing! They give me no information to solve this problem. On top of that, they don’t respond to my ticket in 4 days and because I didn’t answer the phone when they called they suspended not only the domain in question but every domain listed in my account.
I called in and spoke to a tech support guy who allowed me to remove the domain in question and in return, he restored my other domains. He also left a message to have the tech support manager call me the following day.
The manager I spoke to apologized for the way the ticket was handled and the lack of information that was given. He said he would follow up with the employees that were responsible for the ticket and make sure it never happened again. He was helpful in looking at the server logs and determining how someone had loaded a spam bot onto my site.
Apology accepted. Stuff happens. I considered it water under the bridge and not a big deal. Not so much…..
After my first run in with IX Web Hosting, I wrote the whole incident off as a fluke. The manager I spoke to seemed very sincere and assured me that wasn’t proper protocol and wouldn’t happen again. I was trucking right along until I got this email from them on October 26, 2008.
-----------------------------------
Dear Brent Crouch,
We have received notification of phishing material in your account. Phishing files are usually placed through some type of exploit of out dated code, weak file and folder permissions. Packaged shopping carts and photo galleries are usual sources as hackers find exploits and developers fix them almost daily, so unless you constantly update the software or completely secure it things like this can happen.
You must agree to remove this content and update any software that has resulted in security holes. To protect your account from further action you must agree to our request for compliance. Please respond to this message stating your intent to do so. You may either log into your control panel with us, and access this ticket via the 24/7 help desk, or provide this ticket number to our Live Chat or phone representatives. Failure to respond to this message within 72 hours will result in the suspension of the affected domain with us until such a time as this matter is resolved.
Michael
-----------------------------------
The email gave me no indication of which domain had been hacked. When I wrote to live help and gave them the ticket number, I spent 10 minutes waiting only to be told they didn’t know which of my domains had been effected. They recommended I reply to the online support ticket.
Here is the email I sent them in response on October 27, 2008.
-----------------------------------
I replied to live help and they could not find any information. So far you haven’t told me which domain is a problem.
Please give me the info I need to correct this problem and I’ll take care of it.
Brent Crouch
615-389-XXXX
-----------------------------------
Eight hours later, I was able to find the problem by viewing all the files on my domains and looking for the files that had been recently changed. It turned out my brentcrouch.com domain had been hacked and setup with all sorts of eBay and bank phising pages. The site operates on a Wordpress platform which is widely used and is a big target for hackers.
[url]
I wrote back to IX Web Hosting for a second time on October 27, 2008.
-----------------------------------
I found the problem on my brentcrouch.com domain. I updated the wordpress software to the latest and cleaned up the problem. The only exception is the brentcrouch.com/forum directory. I am unable to delete this directory as the hacker has removed my access. Please delete the directory.
Thanks,
Brent Crouch
-----------------------------------
The following day, here is the email I got back from IX Web Hosting.
-----------------------------------
Brent:
Thank you for your attention to this matter. Per your request we have removed:
/brentcrouch.com/forum - deleted
We will be closing this ticket at this time. If you have any questions please feel free to contact us. We will be happy to assist.
Please note that this is the second time this problem occurred. Unfortunately, I have to bring to your attention that as per our terms of service a third instance will result in immediate account termination without notice. No backups will be provided. If you have any questions about how to avoid this from happening again our support team will be glad to advise.
Respectfully
Frankie

-----------------------------------
When I seen that response, I was pissed! I run my own server at Servint.net. I’ve hosting accounts at several other hosting companies. I’ve never had a site hacked except from IX Web Hosting.
In 4 months, I’ve had two sites hacked. In both instances, IX Hosting was zero help in locating the source of the problem. In the first incident, they didn’t even reply to my ticket for 4 days. In the latest incident, they couldn’t even tell me what domain was hacked.
Then they send me an email telling me if it happens again not only will they suspend my account, they’ll deny me access to my files! Huh?
That’s not a risk I’m willing to take. With the high costs of obtaining customer’s in this business, I’m a little surprised they don’t do a better job of trying to retain them. In my opinion, this policy is unacceptable and makes IX Web Hosting one of the worst hosts I’ve ever dealt with.
I just signed up for a hosting account with Host Gator and have already moved all my domains over. So far, so good.
What’s your experience with IX Web Hosting?

I'm trying to find at least three web hosting companies to choose from to host a Joomla websites on a shared server. Would consider dedicated if the deal was right. I have a friend of mine who wants to create a church website, and is looking for the best deal. I use Netfirms which I have never had an issue with, but I didn't want to be bias, and would like give him other options to choose from.
Is there a good WebHosting Review site, I could check out, or maybe someone could recommend their top three. I reading threw the forums here and I noticed there are not that many complaints with Hostgator. Again, I just want to see if there was anything out there better.

Last week I bought hosting in servage.net .Everything is ok there except one very "small" thing - very often my site during loading breaks down (I get blank page). I three times asked servage for help. It's great that their reaction is very fast but despite their statements that problem is fixed it's again and again my page break down.
is it possible that problem exists because my site is based on Jommla 1.5? I have tried and to use servage auto installer and manually installed joomla.
I have found so many praises about servage that cannot understand why is wrong with my site?

Servage is the worst webhosting I have ever hosted with. From continuous cluster problems to stupid billing issues.
When my website is not giving a 404 error there are mysql problems.
This is a hard lesson learnt. I will never recommend or host with them again.
I wired them $90.30 for balance due since July. My banking institution even gave me the reference number and other transaction details. The funds never returned to my account. To this date their dumb billing department cannot locate the payment. When I contact supported they continually gave some cryptic message that is of no help. I forwarded them screenshots of my bank account and even gave the reference numbers provided by my banking instition, still no dice, account suspended.
To add insult to injury they added another period of webhosting to my balance owed so it now totals $180.60 owed and I lost revenue from my search campaigns.
STAY AWAY FROM SERVAGE.NET. THEY ARE NOT WORTH IT.

We have been with servage.net for a few months now & have been having lots of issues with emails bouncing, web sites unavailable, very slow, support staff who ignore requests for help etc. etc. etc.
I have posted about them in these forums before.
For the last day the web site they host for us oznotes.net has been "missing", we cant login to cpanel, we have emailed they via the address on there page servage.net & got no reply – but this is typical, they have our money and dont seem to care!
We paid for 12 months hosting in advance
Does anyone know whats happening with them, I rang the TIO – Telecommunications Industry Ombudsman & they cant help with hosting companies.

Well I have been using servage.net for 3 months and what a disaster it has been.
They now have got to the point were they are trying to tell me that files that have a date of 2007 are really 2008.
Basically this screen shot
oznotes.net/0-news-20-jul-07.PNG
details that web pages I created are dated 2007 and also the screenshot servage created, yes that is right, they created a screenshot & it is dated 2007 you can see this file & date in my screenshot.
oznotes.net/Screenshot.jpg
is dated 2007.

company for over a month or 2
contacting them (support tickets) is as useless as not!..
their reply is always simply: we checked and nothing at our side! (asking for a clarification simply gets u nothing!)
problem is simply ONLY with ftp uploads!
my line upstream is 256Kbps (32 KB/sec) and down 1Mbps and i was always capable of pushing up to 2.2 GB/day ((i monitor my traffic all the time))
but just recently some weird things started appearing...
before uploads would never go under 27-26 KBs on my FTP client
now it's so normal finding it dropping to 15,10,4,2, 0!
ya a whole 0!
and that's not just for a second or two
it can stay like that for maybe aminute then go up back again!
And upon watching my traffic statistics closely, i found myself pushing at the most 1.6 GB only a day!
another funny thing is that files used to appear AND PARTIALLY in the root directory instead of the desired directory!
so WHAT IS UP!

I just wanted to forewarn ANY considering signing up with Servage, LOOK ELSEWHERE! They may be cheap, and they may be offshore (the reason I had chosen them), but they are probably the *worst* web host in business today.
I have been a customer with them for 2 years and here is an itemized list of issues with Servage to date (this doesn't include the issues Servage actually resolved):
- 1 month after signup, Servage experienced a DDoS; all their customers lost all their e-mails for a 72 hour period
- 8 TIMES in the past year, I've had to contact their support because my websites PING requests would consistently time out and the pages not load leading me to actually setup an account with SiteUptime (BTW, they NEVER made anything faster, they always would blame me, even on a static HTML site with no more than 2 simultaneous users)
- Servage advertises 99.98% uptime, my results from SiteUptime for the past 6 months has revealed to me that my actual uptime is about 93.1%, this is TERRIBLE, the worst in the industry in my opinion
- a month ago, every site on my Servage account had redirects to porn or spyware: my passwords are always a mix of foreign characters, uppercase, lowercase, numbers and no shorter than 8 characters. Servage tells me to delete all the files myself and change my passwords. They refuse to accept the responsibility that a hacker got into their master control panel
- They are HOLDING MY DOMAIN HOSTAGE! I made the mistake of signing up my main .com (all the others are with GoDaddy) with them since 1 domain was free with hosting for the life of my account. There is NO WAY they allow you to transfer this domain! They only let you DELETE it (then you have to wait for it to expire, backorder, etc. and chance losing your domain)
There are so many more issues that I could go over, but I think I've made my point.
If you're thinking Servage, I'd recommend you stay away!
There ARE other offshore hosts...

We've been hacked, again. By we, I mean, many many servage clients as far as I can tell. Unlike past Javascript injections, this time it is much more serious, at least to me anyhow. Here is what I know:
Somehow, someone has gained full access to my (and again, many others) control panel on servage.net.
While on there, they have generously created their own ftp accounts with full access.
Every website I host with servage had a number of files uploaded to them.
These files consisted of one or more .htaccess files that contained a number of rewrites pointing to the other files they uploaded.
The new files were actually cleverly hidden inside other directories where they would go unnoticed. For example, on some of my sites that have forums, they were put into /forum/include/tmp/(bogus files), and in my galleries, put into such directories as /images/photos/(bogus files).
The files themselves are as follows:
a .htaccess file
css.js
keys.txt
links.txt
main.php
texts.txt
and tpl.php
The links.txt file itself is over 1.9mb and contains links to hundreds of other infected SERVAGE hosted websites ( I have checked at least 30 of them in whois.org and found all are hosted at servage).
Here is an example of the links.txt file:
chipandachair.co.uk/language/include/include/topic~3312.html|black break spring
chipandachair.co.uk/language/include/include/topic~1562.html|free exploited black teens
ra4prints.co.uk/inc/forum/style/group~190.html|nudist photographys
ra4prints.co.uk/inc/forum/style/group~3827.html|my nudist links
And so on and so forth.
Keys.txt is a giant list of pornographic phrases and texts.txt is just random phrases in general.
I have contacted servage about this multiple times and have gotten their basic cookie cutter response of please remove the files from all your websites, change all your passwords and delete the new ftp accounts created. I asked them point blank if they've been hacked and they've continued to say no.
If you are a servage customer, make SURE you log into your control panel RIGHT NOW and check to see if new ftp accounts have been created. After that, look at your website statistics and click on DISPLAYED PAGES and look for odd entries like /blabla.html/links?12982.html or some such thing and pay attention to where the link is showing up (What directory) which will help you remove all of the crap someone put on there.
This is very serious guys... as I said, someone had full access to my Control panel. With that, they could enter into any of my sql databases, fully see all the passwords to each database (as servage kindly shows your password to anyone when you click on connection information) not to mention any sensitive customer data I may have had stored in my databases.
This hack also kills your website in a number of ways:
1) It tries to redirect any page on your site to the index.php uploaded to your site which then directs you to porn sites.
2) This hack spams over 3000 links to google every day, coming from your website, leading to sites that are deemed bad by google. This ruins your page rank and your site, as some of mine have since I missed this latest attack for 2 weeks, will go down the drain.
3) WHen someone googles your website, it will come up with tons of porn links. My daughters site was one of the infected ones... she's 9, and when you look up her site it shows that it goes to porn.
let me know if you've been targeted as well and what we, if anything, can do about it. Servage NEEDS to admit they've been hacked, in fact, the damage to my businesses because of their failure to notify my of these events seems like it should be on their shoulders.

I'm having the very same problems as everyone else, and after a quick google it seems I'm not alone. Servage just keep fogging me off on the support over there dreadful MySql performance.
Getting the same old rubbish as everyone else, we will move you to different server, we will fix your database etc. When will servage stop blaming there customers and step-up admit there is a problem and fix it? The support is fast but there just monkeys repating the same as the last.
I have been with them for 3+ years now, and this will be the last. Just put a request in for a full refund of this years fee's. The 1st year maybe the 2nd there service was excellent, since then its got worse and to a point now where its dam write criminal to charge people for what they offer.
Do your self a favour people stay clear of this company it has wasted alot of my time.

I've been a satisfied customer at Servage for several years but the last couple a days is getting a little sweat on my forehead...
I'm not sure but some really weird things is happening at servage right now ....
I've tried to login at my controlpanel in almost a week - several times a day, but are not allowed access at all . Get the message that etiher username, password or captcha is entered wrong... I then try to reset my password etc - and it works all fine until I'm trying to login with the new one...same result - NOT working.
After several non working tries I decide to write them personal emails at sales@servage.net, support@servage.net, reply@servage.net ssf@servage.net (which is the founders private email ), but NO answer .... usually they're really kind and efficient and answers within a few hours, but this time : NO ANSWER .....
This evening I would then try to contact them again, and see on their webpage if I have missed some important email adresses, and I was QUITE surprised to notice that almost ANY of their subpages is leading to a non-existant page - EXCEPT from the order page.... pretty weird, I think
I'm not saying that they're on their way to close down, but it is actually an option if we take a look on the world economy in these days...
I would be glad if other Servage Customers could tell me if it is possible for them to login at their controlpanel at Servage

I've used Servage for about 18 months. For most of that time there have been no problems. Then they decided to upgrade the cluster. This happened 3 weeks ago. Since then, there has been a catalogue of problems, mostly centred around a Perl script my site uses to implement a wiki.
The first problem was that they had removed four of the supporting Perl modules used by my Perl script. All of the missing modules are ones you would expect to find on any server that claims to support Perl. They had warned that this might happen (obviously too difficult for them to make sure that the upgraded server has all the Perl modules) so I notified them with a list of missing modules expecting the modules to be restored quickly. It actually took 1 week, during which time their support team tried their best to annoy me by giving responses related to PHP (apparently they'd managed to kill PHP scripting completely) and a non-working link to a list of installed modules (I knew what was installed already).
Having now got the script running, I hit a further problem. Prior to the upgrade the script had run under the "webserver" account. It was now running under the "you" account. This meant it couldn't write to its own data files. I had real trouble getting Servage to understand this one, let alone fix it. Most of their answers were about how to change the ownership of my script, which makes absolutely no difference to the problem. Eventually, after 4 days, they tried to fix the problem. The result was that my website became completely inaccessible. Even the static content was giving a 403 error. Again, it took support a while to understand the problem and about 1.5 days to fix it.
At this point Servage claimed to have fixed all outstanding issues. However, my script was still running under the wrong account. In frustration, I changed the ownership of all the script's data files to "you", which at least got my wiki running again.
However, I now find that people can't upload images to the site. Any attempt to do so produces an error "CGI open of tmpfile: Permission denied".
I've given up. I think my chances of getting Servage to even understand the problem are minimal. I'm not even going to try. I will be moving to another host as soon as possible - probably a VPS. That way I should be able to fix most problems myself.

Everytime my site is down, which is about twice a month, i ask Servage and everytime, i get no answer or i get a really late reply.
Today my site has been down 3 hrs, and ive put in 2 support tickets now, and yet im ignored, but they advertise their support time is 30 minutes? How is that an average when i have to wait hours EVERYTIME?
They are really awful for support, hosting is ok for a shared.. i cant wait to move off it.

After going through the forums here, i can see i am not the only one who has had this sort of problem with servage, but i am afraid mine is a bit more complicated.
I should also mention, that up to about a month ago, i was a very happy servage customer.
I always received good service, in short time and had a very very good uptime.
So, about 3-4 weeks ago, the time for renewing my registration came (i have been with servage for 3 years now), ofcourse - since i am happy with the service, i log into my cpanel - click "pay for another year" and make the payment on paypal.
On that same day, i also noticed the amount removed from my credit account and paypal noted that the transaction was completed (meaning it was transferred to the other side).
The next day, i get an email from servage telling me my account needs to be renewd - so i don't waste any time and open a support ticket, providing the full information i have for the transaction. In return i get the response, that it will probably take 2-3 days for the transaction to fully process.
Mind you, that has NEVER happened before - everything was always immediate, which was one of the things i liked about servage.
So i thought, maybe they are having more customers, so it takes them longer to process - ok...
But, after 4 more days of receiving these annoying emails, i hop back to the support system and update them that something is wrong. they ask for the details i already gave them, but i give it to them again, and i get the response that they are taking care of it.
I was out of the country on a business trip for the next 2 weeks and the day after i come back i get an email that my account was suspended for not paying.
I open the support page again, and i see no reply from them stating there is a problem with the statement. So, i open another ticket - asking them what is wrong and requesting that my site be immediately returned online, since they had enough time in advance to deal with this.
I get the reply, that they did not receive any transfer from me and that i should pay.
Now i'm really pissed, not only did i pay - i had also notified them on the problem, gave them full details, and now they want me to pay twice...?
I ask paypal for confirmation that the payment indeed made it through and i get the response that everything should be ok and a documented proof.
Suspecting this is some scam, I give the full details to the support staff and ask again for my site to be returned online immediately.
I get the response again that they have no such record and that i should pay (again?).
Now I'm pretty worried - they have fully documented proof of the payment, but they still claim to not have gotten it - something must be wrong!
So i start a dispute on paypal on my transaction, in order to get my money back, and start looking for another host.
I sent them the response that i wish to speak to someone in management who can help resolve this, but i get the response that they can see i opened a dispute and that i should pay, they also locked my domain as clientTransferProhibited and clientUpdateProhibited.
So, all of the sudden they can see the payment - how about saying we are sorry, some compensation for the downtime? i would have gone for it...
Instead - they keep asking me to pay for a full year, and when i ask the email of someone in management - i get no response at all.
There is something fishy definitely gone on, i have seen some people on this forum suggesting they were hacked, or have gone into the scam business. all those seem possible now through my ordeal with them.
I just want this over so i can get MY domain on another host, anyone know someone there? have an email? a phone number (i tried the ones i found here - all do not work)? a skype contact?
how to get MY domain back or how to avoid this situation in the future (should i register my domain with another company? but they may tank as well...)?

I visited my website yesterday to update my blog only to find out that it was suspended due to "non payment". I logged into the Servage control panel and the latest transaction went through (by Paypal) for three months hosting from August 14th to November 14th.
This is a copy of our correspondence so far. Its not exactly clear what the problem is. I asked to escalate the support ticket to a supervisor but I'm still waiting for a response.

Servage - Steven
Hello Padraic,
Yes, including VAT actual amount that you need to pay is €26.78 but all the time when renewal comes you paid €26.10. So, the pending amount from last some renewal time goes to €5.07. Actually, when you have opened the account with us then the VAT charge are 16%, but after january of 2007 the VAT is goes up to 19%, so the onwards 2007 your renewal cost raise to €26.78 instead of €26.10. So, please pay the pending bill as soon as possible.
Though in the meantime, I have unsuspended your account and will be online after 3 hours.
Thanks!
Kind Regards
Steven, Support

This is what my website says "This account has been suspended for non-payment. If you are the owner of this account please log into the control panel and open an 'Accounting' support ticket. Please also contact us if you wish to close this account. "

Customer
My account is apparently suspended even though I paid on August 14th.
2008-08-14 PayPal subscrpaym. [***************] from *****@*******.*** EUR 26.10
2008-08-13 3 Months of webhosting EUR -22.50
2008-08-13 19% VAT of €22.50 EUR -4.28
What the hell does "So, the pending amount from last some renewal time goes to €5.07." mean ?
It looks like Servage are charging customers for vat from February 2007 to date which they neglected to do so before. Thats not what gets me, its suspending my account (and all websites attached to it) without any notice whatsoever. And all for €5.07.

servage is sure a compagny of scammers for me, beside all horrible stories of them with theirs clients, the new one is that:
yesterday they suspend my account with all my domains with them, WHY, because i dont want to pay 14.95$ te renew the free domain name that they has offered for FREE when i have signed with them.
so my concern, why suspend all domains for force me to renew a domain name that supposed FREE for 15$, why not suspend only this specifique domain, or simply let them deleted.
