I am searching for a good webhost which can provide me round the clock support.I have searched for that company in this forum and i couldnt find the details of it. So can you people help me to find out a hosting company which gives on-call support in India?
It would be good if i can find a hosting company which provide on call support within 5 days.
I was wondering if anybody has experience dealing with Dell India for servers, racks etc. I find it very hard to get decent pricing, including trying to get them to match Dell UK/US/Canada quotes. Is this normal?

I have a site named www.webeye4u.com
Can anyone from India open this website?
I am not able to open it in India but can open from a US Proxy.
I am not sure whether if its ISP problem or a problem at the US datacentre.
We are India based web hosting company and we have daily requirement of dedicated servers.
We would like to discuss regarding US or India based servers. Which servers are better as per performance basis and benefit.
I know bandwidth is a big issue in India. Also also want to discuss, on what basis the US bases dataceter calculate the bandwidth. Because some Indian datacenter guys says that the US bases dataceter don't give bandwidth as per their mentioned terms.
Also what is hardware reliability of rented servers in US
For india overall, is bandwidth mostly inbound or outbound?
In other words, is there more data (via internet) coming out of the country or into the country?
Link to stats preferably.
I am having few of my AMD X2 machines free and I am having Static IP too.
So can I make my office one Data Center?
Will I get clients for buying dedicated servers from India?
After a lot of searching I found VSNL as one of the data centres in India. But I couldn't find any other datacentres..?
View 7 Replies View RelatedMy tax consultant tells me to deduct TDS for server rental services from SoftLayer.
SoftLayer in turn can claim the deducted amount back from US govt. This is the understanding between India and US govt, as my tax consultant says.
But I am unable to convince SoftLayer. Needing inputs from Indian firms who are having dedicated servers at US. Curious to know how to handle this TDS issue.
Anyone knows where to get a dedicated administrator through outsourced support, from India or Pakistan at good prices?

View 7 Replies View RelatedI'd like to start an ongoing thread here listing the 'Good Hosters with Good TELEPHONE tech support'. In other words, out of the 1,000s of host companies, this may cut it down to less than a dozen.
( And for all you Hosters out there who really want your company to grow, and want to know how, - it's easy: just read here.)
Good telephone support is the #1 ultimate requirement, because:
-It's a lot faster and easier for both the user and the host company, because you can state and answer all questions and clarifications on the spot, you don't need to continually pass new emails with new questions and clarifications, back and forth for days on end, until the issue is solved. It saves tech time and user's time. And saves a lot of nerves.
- It's the best way to sort the good guys from the bad. A bad company isn't going to bother to answer the phone, - or will make you wait way too long, - because they are likely getting endless complaints. The good guys are always ready to answer the phones, with a friendly voice, - because they really WANT to please the customer.
- If a company can't be bothered to pick up the phone, we can't be bothered to even consider them. They're a joke, and so won't be listed here on this thread. (So, before adding or listing any Hosters here, please verfify that they do have Good, quick, friendly, telephone support,; ideally 24/7, but 9am to 10pm might be acceptable, if it was supplemented by some emergency contact.
AND:
- Hoster ALSO needs good EMAIL support (and preferably, Chat online, extended hour availability). (I spend a lot of time overseas). It sems all emails should get a non-automated response within about an hour, - and then support should jump on fixing any problem.
I only need support a few times a year. To answer some questions, or fix a problem, or do an install. That's lesss than 1 hour total, so any company paying maybe $18/hour tech support should be able to handle this. It IS reasonable to charge a custm for extended calls, beyond say, 90minutes a year, IF you don't count the 80%? Of times an issue is the Hoster;s fault of stmg gone wrong, and don't count the 'hold' times.
ALSO IMPORTANT:
- Uptime
- site Speeds
- Monthly plans, no contract (Only a dishonest host will try to force you into a contract, where they can then ignore you.)
- Reasonable price. (? Maybe $12 to $18/month for a basic business site. We don't need massive bandwitdths, - we all know that's an overselling scam, and can't ever be delivered.)
- a good upgrade plan of bigger options. Maybe even VPS.
- Dedicated IP, and availbility of SSL
-PHP 5, mysql, phpMyAdmin, etc
- cPanel ( Some Hosts are using problematic panels, like Hsphere, which are slow to load, slow in operation, require many more clicks, have too many options, spread apart on many separate pages. Time is money, and this really slows down the ability of a small business to manage his own site in effective time. For example, one WHT user wrote somewhere: "I don't feel that HSphere's interface is nice at all, although I have worked with cPanel and DA all my life... I just found it to include un-necessary features or split features up in to different hard to find pages, such as backups - mysql backups you had to find on a completely different page than file backups, and then there were options to have it in the home directory or server-end backup, in which then you had to wait a good 10 minutes before it was ready. cPanel, just hit backup and hit download and instantly it does everything you need...".
I have used several hosters. Currently on Aplus.net and Godad, which have phone support, and mediocre service.
My LIST So Far:
- Liquidweb: a very impressive company with good, 24 hour support. But to get dedicated IP, you need to go with their $25/month plan. Yikes!
- NewIdeaHosting.com. A very small company. My call was returned, and the owner chatted with me for an hour on the phone! Plans have small bandwidth, but promises No overselling, and personalized attention. Extra $5 for dedi IP. He specializes in Small business sites, and small eCommerce sites. He has only 250 accounts, on 3 servers. He rents servers from the Equinox data center of Chicago. Seems exceptionaly honest.
- MegaHosters. Excellent phone support and WHT reviews. But company was taken over by another company, and so may well go downhill in future. Another problem: uses Hsphere.
- Steadfast. Has a good rep on WHT, and seems impressive. Tech answered the phone immediately, but they say they prefer emails. Sales phone has limited hours. Good price on $20 SSL. But, uses Hshhere.
- JodoHost 24 hour phone. But, uses Hsphere. An Indian company with office in Florida, and good rep. I like the idea of outsourcing phone support, if it makes it more available and affordable. But, the accent on the phone was very hard for me to understand, so maybe this might not work.....
- Hostgator. Yes, it's a big overseller, but seems to get good reviews/results anyway, and good phone support.
- ? ThePrimeHost ?? Mostly good WHT reviews; some dissenters. Site says 24hour phone, but when I called on several nights, no one ever answered...
- Can anyone add to this list? Please list only hosts that meet the above minimum requirements of phone support, etc. Especially useful is hosters you've tried.
TO AVOID:
- Avoid Arvixe. I had a horrid experience with them, here: [WHT forum]:/showthread.php?p=5097822#post5097822
- Avoid WebHostingBuzz. This company never returned my phone msessage inquiries.
please recomend me any vps providers in india, rusia, china and other offshore states.

I just moved from PowerVPS to EuroVPS, being located in Europe myself, and was of course hoping for much better ping times. Also EuroVPS advertise themselves with a 30ms ping to most of Europe.
Anyway after my VPS was installed I compared the pings:EuroVPS (85.17.48.162) average ping: 335ms
PowerVPS (69.65.106.19) average ping: 129ms
335ms is of course ridiculously high, and after writing them a support ticket they told me it's probably a latency problem with my ISP
Can you please post the ping you get for 85.17.48.162 (preferably people located in Europe)?
I have configured Nagios on my network 10+ Servers (Linux+Windows) now when i check through http://localhost/nagios everything is ok but only ping command is giving following message :-
Unknown
bin/ping -n -U -w 10 -c 5 x.x.x.x
CRITICAL - Could not interpret output from ping command
and mail me "server down " message
So what is the issue ?
I am able to run this command through command line
./check_ping -H {server} -w 100.0,20% -c 500,50% -p 5
PING OK - Packet loss = 0%
./check_ping -H x.x.x.x -w 300.0,80% -c 500.0,100% -p 5
PING OK - Packet loss = 0%
I'm running my own OpenVZ server with a few VPS's running on it and have a small network issue.
I can't ping any VE from the HN. All the other networking is working ok (strangely I can ping the HN from the VE) apart from this. It's a simple setup with one network card connected to the internet.
OpenVZ the latest stable version running on CentOS 5.2
I'm pretty sure it's not a firewall problem but is something to do with arp or routing and one of the settings in sysctl.conf
Has anyone else seen this?
Does it matter?
I did a few tests
Pinging lunarpages.com [74.50.4.210] with 32 bytes of data:

The pages load really fast @ ipowerweb
i've only ever used pings to test if a host is up or down.
But what other information am i looking for in ping tests. For e.g., the time in ms the TTL etc etc?

My sites are up when I go to http and there is no slowdown but my monitors (panopta and pingdom) say that there is an outage in ping (only in ping, http is up). I tried pinging the server and there are packet loss up to 100% but the site is still up. I also used other online pinging tools (all-nettools.com, dnsstuff.com, etc.) and host unreachable.
I tried contacting the provider but they say there are no network problem at this time. So I found this other site that's also hosted on the same provider and I can access their site but fails on ping.
My server ping keeps disconnecting
However my ssh & website is smooth running!
When i type "service iptables stop", the ping runs just smoothly.
I have CSF installed in the server, like any other server using default configurations. I believe it has something to do with selinux? (or not?)
i think 216.245.208.x and 216.245.215.x DOWN, but limestonenetworks tell me :"problems well outside of our network, and I would highly suggest contacting your ISP for support on this matter" ....
