I'm trying to add a second nic to one of my servers.
eth0 is connected directly to the internet on a public IP.
eth1 is connected to a private network 172.16.0.0/24.
When I try to add the eth1, I can no longer reach my server from the public address. The gateway for eth1 is 172.16.0.1.
If I leave the gateway field blank for eth1, the server can still be reached on the public address and can also talk to clients on the lan. However, I would really like to figure out why I can't add the default gateway parameter.
We have used till this very moment a fixed IP address space (lets consider 192.168.0.0/25 (128 IP's), with 192.168.0.1 being the GW). Now we have run out of IP address and our provider is not able to offer us the upper IP address space on the same range we have, so we have been offered a new IP address space (let's consider 192.168.1.0/25 with 192.168.1.1 being the GW).
Both this are configured on a cisco 3550 switch (provider side). We have behind that a 3550 of our own, for subnetting and VLAN purposes (we are getting every server a /29 on a VLAN with a default GW and so on. Typical setup).
The problem is, how are we supposed to route the new ip address space? Can we add a second gateway to the 3550 and traffic will get to it if it comes from the new IP block?
We had also thought about PBR, but 3550-SMI does not seem to support that.
Can you give us a clue on the best config to solve this issue?
I want to send mail to SMS gateways via setting up a free SMS site. How can I best configure qmail to handle large amounts of emails. Also, I plan to run a cron that will pull the messages to send from a db and send them in large chunks. qmail-inject and sendmail seems incredibly slow.
Now, using that VE nodes on the 200.44.32.96/28 range are unpingable. How can I fix that?
Please take note that I remove all settings from ifcfg, and leave IPADDR and GATEWAY, the internet can ping the nodes. But within the 200.44.32.0/24 no-one can ping the nodes on the 200.44.32.96/28 range ( Which is my problem, that I came here to solve).
I was on a server (reseller account) that ran PHPSuexec and default permissions were 755/644 as they should be.
We moved to a new cPanel 11 server and default permissions are 775/664. This is the same on 4 different servers from 4 different hosting companies (all reseller accounts). Three are CentOS, one RedHat Enterprise.
I entered a support ticket for one company and they said the permissions were not right and supposedly fixed it (I have left that company since then so I can't check).
The other hosting companies say their umasks are right and would not change it.
Apparently the apache installation defaults to these permissions which, security wise, seems kinda strange.
Can anyone shed some light on whether or not this is secure and does this mean I'm going to have change permissions evertime I upload files to install shopping carts, billing software etc.? (It's not hard it's just stupid to have to).
Should my hosts change apache system umask (022) to make permissions default to 755/644?
im trying to setup a vps server on one of my dedicateds, (for personal use) ive got the vps running and os installed etc but i cannot for the life of me setup networking. i have 2 ips from my datacenter but they havent given me a default gateway ip and dont seem to know what one is so does anyone know how to get the default gateways ip for a ip (the ip i have is in the 66.79.185.xxx group )
I have a VPS and I am using LXAdmin. What I want to do is that if I type the IP of my VPS in my browser it would show my main Website and not the page of LXAdmin saying that the IP address or domain is not yet setup.
I am gonna host a multi-platform website from my home server soon. My home server is basically IIS7 on Windows server 2008. However , I am currently experimenting with IIS7 on vista business .Unfortunalely I have experimented so much that I need to reset IIS7 to default settings.
I haven't backed up atall. So it would be great if someone can assist me in this matter.
In lxadmin currently no domain is set as default domain and what would happen if I set one of the site as a default domain? What changes can be noticed and will there be any kind of effect on that particular domain?
My customer's language is portuguese. On my VPS have cpanel with X and X3 theme. When I create a new account with X3 theme, cpanel default langage is english. I ask my hosting company if have a method to change cpanel default language to portuguese. They saied that is no possible. I dont know, but I think that can to have an alternative to make it, but HOW?
This came as a surprise today, I setup a server-based RSS reader and could not get WHT's forum RSS feeds. A little digging revealed it was the default APF installation that was blocking the 174.0.0.0/8 range, which includes WHT and a chunk of Softlayer's ip range.
The quick fix is easy, just remove that range from the /etc/apf/internals/reserved.networks file and restart, in the latest apf version, I don't know how many apf versions back this block goes.
The APF folks do a fantastic job in keeping APF up to date, but this seems to be recent update to this particular ip range that hasn't made it into APF yet.
I have Linux server Apache with Tomcat. How can i change DocumentRoot for Tomcat or set default page for Tomcat index.jsp or my.jsp or index.php because i want to use 301 redirection. So please guide me how can i change default page or change default path.
I have an interesting situation on my CentOS 4 server. I have a number of virtual adapters (e.g. eth0:1, eth0:2 etc), and for some reason all outbound traffic is going through one of these, not eth0. If I go to ipchicken.com, it shows the ipaddress of a virtual adapter, not the normal eth0 adapter.
I have been looking around for information on how to set the default adapter to eth0, but I can't seem to find anything. I can't reboot yet, as it's a production server, so I have to wait for 'scheduled maintenance'. If that's the solution, I can try it, but I am sure there is another underlying issue/routine here.
Is there a way, while live, to set the outbound adapter back to eth0?
Please note, that I have only just realized this has happened. In fact, it has been this way since November. I can tell because server name stamps on Email messages sent from this server indicate a virtual domain at that IP address. I recall I had done some work around that time, which had involved me ifup'ing and ifdown'ing some of these adapters (but not eth0, or the eth0:100 adapter (if I recall correctly) that is now the default).
Also note that I have groups of eth0 adapters, such like: eth0:1 eth0:2 eth0:3 eth0:100 eth0:101 eth0:102
It's the eth0:100 adapter that is now the default.
Like, when you create an account, the clients cPanel says: [url](on the top).
I was wondering, any way to change that..not for a single account but all of them..kinda so when it creates a account it actually puts a different image.
