Server For Emailing Clients

Can anyone turn me onto a decent provider who does not mind excessive mail?

Although it's only twice a day, it's quite annoying. I have two almost identical file servers, one however sends me an email at 2:46pm and 6:00pm everyday. The first email looks like this...

I understand that these are most certainly both Cron Jobs, but I don't know how to identify them, or get rid of them. Anyway care to tell me how? I've got SSH access to the server and use both putty and WinSCP to access it.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI want to stop emailing myself
I have received quite a few emails from senders claiming to be the recipients [in this case one of my email accounts]. I did not send these emails. This is happening with almost every email account I have setup on one of my domains.
I know this is probably an easy fix-- I am simply unsure of what it is.
I noted that someone else recently posted a similar question-- with only one response. I wanted to see if another post my garner another response.
I've just designed a site and the company have just told me they have their own mail server.
I've never touched mx records before as I've always had mail collected on the server which hosts the site so this is new territory for me.
What's got me a bit stumped is where are the mx records controlled - with the domain registrar, the hosting company or both? I've gone into the account and changed the DNS MX records with the hosting company (Cpanel). I've double checked I've done it right with the hosting company and they've said it seems fine... But it's not - I keep getting failed deliveries:
xxx@xxx.com
SMTP error from remote mail server after RCPT TO: <xxx@xxx.com>:
host company.mail.server.co.uk [88.88.88.88]:
550 5.7.1 Unable to relay for xxx@xxx.com
(email, server, and ip edited out)
The hosting company did say it might take some time to propagate, but I have a hunch it isn't going to work.
Now, I've got a couple of different registrars I use and one of them lets you edit mx records directly while the other one doesn't... Which leads me to think that you can control the mx records with both, but the domain has priority?
I have one domain that is having issues sending e-mail from any php forms, etc. They do have their MX records pointing out to a different service...is there anything special I need to have them do in order for this to work?
Also, do I need to check or uncheck "Always accept mail locally even if the primary mx does not point to this server."
I'm running Cpanel 11
Are there companies out there that allow unlimited emailing capabilities on a VPS server? What kind of budget would be best to get this capability? Am I better of going with a dedicated server?
View 1 Replies View RelatedPHP manual says:
Quote:
Note: It is worth noting that the mail() function is not suitable for larger volumes of email in a loop. This function opens and closes an SMTP socket for each email, which is not very efficient.
I have a VPS and cPanel.
How can I get the SMTP host, user, pass and port?
Hi all... Ok the situation is this. My DrWeb died a few weeks ago and then I started to receive 100's of emails trying to connect to DrWeb. This was resolved, but everyday without fail I receive these two emails and wonering if anyone can tell me why?

So my the other day one of my clients rented a Windows 2003 server. Has no idea on how to run DNS server on it and demanded us to do something about it. Since he had no management plan, we let him know that if he got himself a management plan we could help him out - but looks as though he was on a tight budget and couldn't opt in for it. Same thing happened last week and again one yesterday!
To help these customers out I was wondering if I could start a DNS service. Each client would get access to it for free regardless of their operating system or management plan. They could point their domains to the nameservers and use the DNS service to point the domain's A records to their servers.
From the start, I have been using EditDNS and still using it. But coming to think of it, its getting more unstable day by day even though they have 5 servers spread across the globe. I am planning on to move to EveryDNS. With this move, I'd like to use their services for my clients too. Rather than running my own DNS servers - I feel this could work out more efficient and reliable.
So what I am planning on doing here is more like creating private namesevers to mask EveryDNS's nameservers. Then have a custom script site built to interact with EveryDNS's APIs. Sounds like a good idea? Then my customer uses the script's interface to create/delete/edit records, etc.
Anyway I need some advice, suggestion or help in this matter. Has anyone tried this stunt out before? If so, how successful were they/you? How are your customer's reaction towards this (satisfied or not?). Does it stay efficient? (both in terms of money, time and energy spent).
Also, if anyone could suggest me any programmer who could do this for me (someone well versed with DNS/EveryDNS on PHP/MySQL) it would be nice.
Edit: I guess ServerBeach/Peer 1 already has implement this. If anyone really knows whats going on there - please share.
in getting a full list of server addons that clients generally require. i know i few, like:
Zend optimizer
Curl
Ioncube
GD
Imagemagiac
etc... but i want to know others which i dont know and which most of the clients want to have already installed on their hosts server.
I want to buy a billing software, but I am a bit scared about having all my clients in mysql on the server. How safe is it? Can hackers steal my data? Till now I had clients data stored on my PC.

I downloaded my email folders from my previous host's mail folder through FTP and then uploaded them to my new server's mail folder thinking it'd be an easy transfer. View 9 Replies View RelatedI have noticed in a few Windows server tha the server gets hacked and there are tons of files which are mostly DVD rips and games being transferred away which results in huge amount of data transferred and bandwidth consumption increasing to as far as 29 Mbps. On further investigation, I find that all the files get stored in either the Recycler directory or the System Volume Information directories in any of the drives. Now these two directories are protected operating system files. Even if there is a windows firewall installed, there is no difference. I have even noticed that in some servers there is an automatic exception rule added in the windows firewall enabling the torrent client to communicate outside the server. This seems to be a common problem with Windows 2003 server and seems to be some backdoor of Windows allowing hackers to use the server for seeding. Has anybody come across such a problem or know the solution? Kindly help me with this.
View 14 Replies View RelatedI will soon be meeting a few people who plan on selling their clients to me that are currently hosting with them.
I have never bought/sold clients before and would like some guidance from the community here on WHT.
Correct me if im wrong.
I should consider purchasing those clients who's contracts are going to expire soon, preferably within the next 6 months atleast?
Should i or should i not purchase clients who they have recently taken a renewal fee from that will last for atleast another 6 months?
How will calculate on what prices they should be selling their clients to me for? Are they going to add up a years worth of hosting before they set a final sale price?
At the end of the day i dont want to take on clients who have already paid for their hosting and wont be expiring anytime soon. I think, if i take them on board now they will be using up my hosting resources at my expense which i will have to wait until their next renewal is due.
The guys i will be buying the clients from have their current hosting plans as follows:
Monthly prices range from £1.90 £5.00 £9.50 £15.50,
Yearly prices range from £19.00 £50.00 £95.00 £155.00
Depending on what packages their clients are on now, how much do you think on average 5 clients would be worth roughly?
Before i purchase what else do i need to look into?
What other questions do i need to ask other than the likelihood of how long they expect their clients to stay with them/(me).
i have issue with my vps, but i cant fix it.

We're having a small problem with one of our Ventrilo boxes (Linux) that seems to be blocking users from connecting. The DC (The Planet) is reporting that the issue is likely with the user and my tech is also saying the same thing. I have reason to believe they're both wrong but wanted to see if anyone had any ideas.
Here are 3 tracert's that show normal activity until the user reaches the DC network and then they can't reach our server.
All 3 of these are from different users experiencing the exact same problem.
