I have received quite a few emails from senders claiming to be the recipients [in this case one of my email accounts]. I did not send these emails. This is happening with almost every email account I have setup on one of my domains.
I know this is probably an easy fix-- I am simply unsure of what it is.
I noted that someone else recently posted a similar question-- with only one response. I wanted to see if another post my garner another response.
I've just designed a site and the company have just told me they have their own mail server.
I've never touched mx records before as I've always had mail collected on the server which hosts the site so this is new territory for me.
What's got me a bit stumped is where are the mx records controlled - with the domain registrar, the hosting company or both? I've gone into the account and changed the DNS MX records with the hosting company (Cpanel). I've double checked I've done it right with the hosting company and they've said it seems fine... But it's not - I keep getting failed deliveries:

The hosting company did say it might take some time to propagate, but I have a hunch it isn't going to work.
Now, I've got a couple of different registrars I use and one of them lets you edit mx records directly while the other one doesn't... Which leads me to think that you can control the mx records with both, but the domain has priority?
I have one domain that is having issues sending e-mail from any php forms, etc. They do have their MX records pointing out to a different service...is there anything special I need to have them do in order for this to work?
Also, do I need to check or uncheck "Always accept mail locally even if the primary mx does not point to this server."

Although it's only twice a day, it's quite annoying. I have two almost identical file servers, one however sends me an email at 2:46pm and 6:00pm everyday. The first email looks like this...

I understand that these are most certainly both Cron Jobs, but I don't know how to identify them, or get rid of them. Anyway care to tell me how? I've got SSH access to the server and use both putty and WinSCP to access it.
Are there companies out there that allow unlimited emailing capabilities on a VPS server? What kind of budget would be best to get this capability? Am I better of going with a dedicated server?

Hi all... Ok the situation is this. My DrWeb died a few weeks ago and then I started to receive 100's of emails trying to connect to DrWeb. This was resolved, but everyday without fail I receive these two emails and wonering if anyone can tell me why?

I getting this error when our clients are sending mail from outlook but they are able to send mail from webmail.
we are using exim mail server and whm . i can't understand where is problem , anybody can help me ?

I'm having an issue with php sending mail on my server...its not working!
I have a windows 2000 server running IIS 5 along with PHP. Now I know my scripts in PHP are correct, but they aren't sending out mail. I cannot receive them anywhere.
Is there something I have to configure in the PHP.ini file? Is SMTP setup by IIS5 or do I need to do anything?
For configuring mail.mysite.com as a smtp server so as tom send mails using it on port 25. Do i need to create a subdomain with "mail" and if so what shal be ip address that should be mapped to ip. Th ip address of the vps hosting or of that of domain name as ns1.domaincompany.com.

I recently purchased a VPS, to host all my domains and so I can start working on my sites. The problem is however that I have noticed that my provider does not allow individual smtp servers. Is this normal for a VPS? Is there a solution to the problem that I could suggest?
The problem is that the sender is added as host.myhostdomain.com and not smtp.mydomain.com, where mydomain.com is the domain that I want to create a website for and myhostdomain.com is the name of the server.
If the SMTP server is not the same as the domain name, then my email will land in all different junkmail folders, which is not really what I had in mind. It is no use trying to build up a user database if you cant communicate with them. How should I be able to sell services, if I cant send an e-mail to my customers?
I just dont know. I have to admit that I am a bit disappointed. It is not like I am paying a forture, but I am realistic. If one of them gets big I probably have to host them individually, but until I get more traffic this is a good solution.
My hosting provider runs Cpanel/WHM/Fantastico/XController, if that helps.
I have already tried to approach customer support about this issue, but the response was simply "With the PHP email issue, there really isn't a way to have it sent from some other address. It is technically coming from the hostname, so it will be labeled as such. In the php script, you can have it set to a different from
address, but the actual sender will be from the hostname."
I m using cpanel and exim 4 and my server ip is black list. Now i want to change my server ip address.

I want to config my IIS SMTP server to copy ALL sent mail to another address.
Or, to log in more detail what was sent (I have W3C logging turned on but it doesnt record the mail subject or body).
Basically when a user complains they didnt get an email, I want to be able to look in the log to see (a) the mail was sent and (b) the body/subject of the mail.
One of my accounts, which of course is my main account, are unable to send out emails using either the php mail() function or SMTP, but regular email can be sent and received normaly.
All other accounts on the server works just fine though and I have deleted and setup all emails on that account and pretty much poked it anyway I can with no success.
When attempting to send emails from this account it does not show up in any error logs, email ques or anything like that as far as I can tell...it just get stuck in mid air like tha functions are never called...

i just have a vps with plesk installed, since this is my first time have a vps, i have run into some problem,
so here is the problem.
i want to use pop3 account directly from my outlook, but i don't know how to fill the smtp outgoing address, which mean, i can logged in to account by i cannot send the mail via outlook, but if i'm using the webmail provided by plesk it's just run fine.

i've tried few such as webmail.domain.com but still cannot work in smtp outgoing email in outlook.
I have made any test with PHP x high volume sent with mail() and with direct STMP connection
I monitoring under WHM of my server the QUEUE (under mail queue manager)
With the first (mail()) I see only 20% in the queue, other is sent immediately
With the SMTP I see 100% on the queue and I must send manually (with delivery now) and sent is really slowly
