Do most webhost that come with the SSH access allow the installation of an IRC server (unreal)?
can anyone link me to good cheap ones
dont want to go registering to one and find out later that i cant
We are installing Apache Web Server httpd-2.2.29 in AIX 7.1
While running the command ./configure --prefix=/usr/sap/apache --enable-mods-shared=most --with-mpm=prefork --with-expat=builtin --with-included-apr we get the below output:

Also, can we use pre-compiled Apache Web server? What are the disadvantages in going for a pre-compiled configuration.
I have referred several other forums and tried many options like setting the environment variables, trying different commands but all in vain.
We like to create the mail accounts through php scripts in mywebsite.com website. So we request you to setup the Qmail with Vpopmail server in our server. As we have the following packages are already installed.
1. Qmail
2. Courier POP/IMAP
3. Horde Webmail client
Please install the vpopmail in the ourserver and configure these four packages to create the mail accounts via php script. So that we can use vaddsuer command in php to create the mail ids annd also imap_open commands to access the mails.
Our server is configured with Plesk control panel.
The installation is very urgent, as our website is going live sooner.
I will make the decision sooner and let us know the cost, as it will be given to the provider sooner.
I've just installed DSS 5.5.4 on Apache/Redhat server.
The installation went fine. The darwinadminserver started automatically.
But when I go to the Webadmin page on port 1220 from the browser, or when I try to stream the sample videos from quicktime, the server just hangs, won't connect.
I checked the error logs and they read:

I rebooted the server without darwin to see what processes were using those ports but I couldn't see any processes.
I work for a big organization that has a check list for standard windows server 2003 installation.
The list includes stuff such as , removing some users and adding some domain users, changing system name, windows update, ie7 installation, adding the system to the domain, installing norton anit virus from file shares and so on.
Is there anyway to auto mate this or atleast everything to do with system settings including windows update ? (Minus norton install)
I am sure one can make an answer file but i am not convinced by that answer as the post installation changes require editing regedit and other local security policies.

But I am having problems
getting Pear to install on
my Linux shared server.
GoDaddy say that Pear is loaded by
default with php4 and are not prepared
to assist in any further installations.
I know that a copy of the pear installation
can be uploaded to the folder where I host
my site. I ran the following script

We may soon get into the unmanaged arena. Recently there has been debates on whether an unmanaged server should come with anything other than a bare OS, even if ordered with a control panel. I'd like to get a feel for what you as a customer expect from an unmanaged host when ordering a server with control panel.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI have Plesk 11.5 (service provider mode) on a Windows 2008 server IIS7.Most of my sites are developed in .asp and therefore i use a custom 500-100.asp error page that check s the IP of the visitor then displays either a friendly error, or if its my IP a full error of what has happened (it also emails me the error). This allows me to debug pages easily whilst developing and to keep an eye on anyone trying SQL Injection hacks on my sites (as the error and email also have session variables and IP address).I dont have root access to the server as it is a Webfusion dedicated server.I have following the Plesk documentation -
1) Switch on custom errors for the subscription
2) Look in virtual directories and navigate to error documents
3) Find the error in question (500:100) and change it to point at either a file or URL
FILE - I had the data centre add in the 500-100.asp error page in to the virtual template so that my page is available in the list of virtual files - this didn't work but that maybe because its not a static page??
URL - when i add the path it says its incorrect, if i add a fully qualified address, it accepts it but it doesn't work.give me a specific example of the URL that can be entered relative to the root as the format in the documentation isn't accepted. The last step is to restart IIS which is also an issue as i cant seem to do this from the Plesk panel..It is as if it isn't catching the 500:100 error, and only catching the general 500 error??
How can I allow only one ip or a list of ip addresses to access port 8443.I need to limit access this port to few ip addresses and not everyone

I changed the port to 4247 in the /etc/ssh/sshd_conf file.
I've tried using port 22 incase I messed it up but that doesn't work either.
Obviously I can't get back in to check it or change it.
Using WHM/cPanel.
When IIS is on using Windows 2008 standard I could get access to my server IP remotely ; otherwise my server is invisible
Is this due to Win firewall config,? Active Domain Controller config? or any other setting?
I have a little problem with either my server or my connection. For some darn reason I will be doing FTP uploads on small PHP files or viewing the forums on the server and then everything will start timing out. Yesterday this happened I would be able to get on the server from time to time for short amounts of time. After about 3 hours is went back to normal. Tonight, however, it did the same thing but I have no access to the server and it's been like this for about 4 hours. What could be causing this?
View 9 Replies View RelatedI have requested SSH access and they said they have enabled SSH on my account. The problem is, when I try to connect to my domain, I keep receiving Network error:
Connection timed out. There is no login window asking me for username and password. I'm using PuTTy and WinSCP, both with no success.
I have a strange problem that I encounter sometimes. I have 3 websites on my hosting account. About once a week, I will try to access one of those sites and I will get a timeout or connection error in my browser. I will not have any problem viewing any other websites and as soon as I restart my computer, I can view my sites again.
It seems like either my computer, wifi router, isp or webhost decides to block me from accessing any of my 3 sites for no apparent reason. Restarting my computer fixs this. My ip does not change when I restart my computer so I do not know why it would suddenly allow me acces again but it does.
What is this problem likley to be? A bug on my computer, a bug on my server? My isp being retarded? No one else seems to have any problems accessing my site, I would guess it is a local issue. What I can not figure out though, is why it only happens to my own websites on my hosting account. This never happens when trying to view any other websites except my own(on my hosting account). This cannot be a coincidence. It is a big mystery to me.
I've got customers in the UK and Canada that are having problems accessing the server. It's defiantly a problem with the server, just got it, I've had them try to go to the site directly using a server address, 69.65.51.104/~populiw/index.php, with the FIREWALL disabled.
View 8 Replies View RelatedI have many accounts on my server, everyone can connect via FTP but when they try to upload something they get "access denied", i get it too, sometimes it works for a few minutes and goes back to giving me access denied. I have not changed any settings since it was working just fine before. I checked the folder permissions, user permissions, used chown command to make sure the folders belonged to the correct users/groups and I disabled the firewall same thing, any ideas what might be going on? do you this I have a virus on the server? it's a linux server

View 1 Replies View RelatedYes, cannot access my server with my PC. Tried everything but no avail. I confirmed that the server is up and running, everyone else can access it.
Here is what has been done so far:Cannot access to server after my FTP program automaticly tries to connect few times with wrong password. Fine, my IP will be flushed in 10~20 minutes tops. But no, after an hour still cannot access.
Submitted a ticket to the provider. They have flushed the Iptables, stopped the firewall, and added my IP address to allowed hosts file.
I have stopped the firewall in my PC. Flushed the DNS cache and restarted the windows.
Can use internet without a problem. Can access any website w/o problem except my own server.
Can anyone think of anything causing this?
I am wondering how powerful of a computer/server I'm going to need for a project for work.
The server will only be accessible over the companies LAN, it will most probably need to be running Windows, because that's what the rest of the system runs. Even though I'd rather have it Linux. The server will be running Apache, PHP, and MySQL.
It will need be accessed by around 100-200 workstations (200 on the far out side max).
They don't need to write to the database. Just read. So possibly only 1 to 2 MySQL queries per page. PHP will be of course used to generate the pages.
So how powerful of a server that's just dedicated to this would be needed?
I realize this might not be the right forum for this, but the people here are so helpful
I am in the process of moving my dedicated server from one location to another. I have requested second drive to be installed on server. How do I access in through SSH? I am using Linux, FC4.
Also, what is the command to compress all data in certain directory, so that I can simply wget the large compressed file from the new server?
