Remove Linux And Install Windows XP
I need to remove CentOS from an old office PC. Dont get me wrong I use Linux almost on everything but for specific reason I need to get XP back into this old AMD PC. I cannot install XP. I cannot remove Linux. This install is devil. It will not let me remove it. I tried everything. XP disk goes black screen and stays there, this is happens with some hardware and you have to remove all Linux partitions to me the Windows XP disk install start. The problem I CANT remove it. I go to rescue mode, or interactive, mode, it doesnt matter, I cannot remove linux. "fisk -l" Go to my partition fdisk /dev/sda2 d for delete and it just outputs: No partition is defined yet! I tried lots of ways around it and always that message. Linux doesnt let me remove the partitions. How in the world do I get XP back now?

Remove Empty Folders And Remove From A Db
ive got a site which auto creates subdomains and installs a script automaticly and inserts details into a mysql db. i have had some issues recent so have loads (talking 100s) of folders that are empty which i need to remove, and to remove the details of said folder from db also. any ideas how i can do this, using plesk control panel so removing the subdomain via plesk cli may be the best way in that respect but the db is external to plesk so that would not be edited

How Do I Remove My ISP IP From Email And Only Use My Server IP
The way Exim is setup on Cpanel/Centos is that it adds the origination IP and server IP address that the email is relayed through. Because many RBL's flag Verizon and Comcast ISP IP's as spam sources; it causes my email relayed through my server to be rejected. Note: My server IP is not on any RBL for spam or abuse. Is there a way to edit Exim to only use the server IP adddress that I relay through?

Remove Server MySQL Connection
I bought a VPS to run a part of a application I have and it needs to connect to my database in cpanel. I have set everything up properly and allowed the remote server to connect to my server, I updated the DB connect file with the correct mysql server username and password. But when I try and run the script I get this error. Quote: Client does not support authentication protocol requested by server; consider upgrading MySQL client in I'm not 100% sure what to do. I don't understand why it wouldn't work because it works perfectly on the main server with my scripts. But I get that error message on the remote server.

Samba Server :: Can Linux And Windows Exist On The Same Server?
I have a linux server for a video sharring site The video encoder that I prefer to use will only work in a windows enviorment The windows server would pass off the converted video to the Linux server. Will a Samba server for Linux allow a Linux machine to connect and share files with a Windows machine work for this application. Linux Server With 3-4 TB Transfer
I have read some in this forum and the sites I saw linked to others seemed ok but none I've seen really gave me options on more bandwidth. I figured I would just post what I need and my budget and see if anyone could help me out or point me in the right direction and it be a site I havn't seen before. I am currently with another dedicated provider that I will not name but I messed up something simple (I know what it is) while trying to add an ip to the box. I submitted a ticket Friday morning at 4am EST time explaing exactly what I need done, and how to do it just so they don't have to even research it. Needless to say the ticket was not even TOUCHED all day today (Friday) and now I am told it will not be looked at until Monday. This means I am without a server for the weekend unless I want to pay a good chunk for "emergency support". I personally find this absurd and think something simple should be a phone call away. I typed all of this out to explain why I am looking for a new server. I need a decent (but not hard core) processor, preferably not celeron or sempron. Atleast 1 gig of ram and 100-200 gig or so HD. The biggest thing I need is transfer, I honestly do not care if its a 10 or 100Mbps port. I need atleast 3 to 4 TB (4000 GB) of transfer. My price range is 100-150 USD a month.

Linux Server Login
Im running Debian Etch as a webserver, on a dell poweredge 2650, it has been working great, and a few months ago it was up a little over 100 days and it just stopped allowing me to login via ssh or ftp or webmin (which uses the linux password file). i couldnt even log in at the console so i just rebooted it (power switch) and then once it came back up it worked fine. and now about 100+ days later its doing the same exact thing. I must note that all the websites on the system are still working fine, apache and mysql have not been affected, however the mail system seems to have stopped again too. Has anyone else ever had this sort of problem?

Linux Server Compromised
Linux Fedora 5 I just got a letter from my dedicated host stating we had just been compromised. These servers just were set up last week! And there is nothing on them yet. The only thing I have done is modified the /etc/hosts file via SSH. My servers are not even public yet. Can SSH'ing in from an unsecured wireless network make me vulnerable? What do you guys think? Linux Mail Server
I have a dedicated server with a mail server on it. However we have been experiencing troubles with mails sent from not delivering to a lot of hosts. I believe it is something to do with the server not being a fully qualified domain. The server is running Debian Sarge Linux. The solution we were thinking of was to change the server to just be a relay to the hosting company's pop mail account for the domains we have registered. Would this get around our client's filters? Also is it difficult to do?

Linux Server Hardening
1. I don't use nor will I EVER use cPanel (royal POS in my opinion). I might, however, have DirectAdmin installed (not sure yet) 2. CentOS 5, 64-bit edition 3. Apache 2.2 latest, MYSQL 5.1 latest, PHP 5.2 latest I usually use appears to be super busy and just not able to get the job done. No slight on him, he has a busy work schedule. So I'm looking to go outside of my comfort zone and see other companies to use. I don't think I can use Platinum as I outright refuse to even discuss cPanel as an option. If I want an underperforming, unsecure and incompatible web and database server, I'll run Windows. So I'm looking for the usual end-to-end hardening package. I'm too lazy to do it myself and I'll forget to do something. Any recommendations out there in WHT land?

Remove Xen Xps
I have setup a xen VPS some time back. I need to remove it permanently. I have used the commands virsh destroy <domainID> as well as xm destroy <domainID>. However they only performs a shutdown. I can restore it back! I want to remove / wipe it permanently and memory consumed is given up then and reflected in the core server.

Yum Remove Command
I had some issues with PHP compilation seems to be issue with zlib. So I decided to remove it. What happened then is something like nightmare... The command yum remove zlib removed zlib + all dependencies without asking me what to remove. So it removed majority of packages including yum itself. How can I force yum to not remove dependencies when I uninstall some package?

Remove CPanel Garbage....
I hate cpanl. It's bloated, slow, and just twice as hard to do anything(over command line). Anyways, how can I turn this crap off...it seems like ever time I reboot something comes back and changes conf files(installs older version of programs) and stuff like that. I've shut off any cpanel stuff I can find in the services startup and removed all crons but is there anything else? I get emails like cpsrvd failed @ Fri Jun 22 10:25:38 2007. A restart was attempted automagicly.

How To Use .htaccess To Remove Subdirectory...
Is it possible to use .htaccss to remove the subdirectory from a url? The reason I ask it that the script I want to use requires members to be in a /users/ directory, and I would like to remove that part of the url. For instance... can I use .htaccess to change www.thewebsite.com/users/username to www.thewebsite.com/username I have absolutely no need to access the /users/ directory without the username, it's just that all accounts are created in that directory. Is it possible?

I tried installing MRTG in my Linux Server by using help from - [url] What i have done till now is - cd /usr/local/src gunzip -c mrtg-2.16.2.tar.gz | tar xvf - cd mrtg-2.16.2 ./configure --prefix=/usr/local/mrtg-2 make make install After this i am unable to understand what to do, and how to start MRTG graphs. * the next last step says, CONFIGURATION The next step is to configure mrtg for monitoring a network device. This is done by creating an mrtg.cfg file which defines what you want to monitor. Luckily, you don't have to dive straight in and start writing your own configuration file all by yourself. Together with mrtg you also got a copy of cfgmaker. This is a script you can point at a router of your choice; it will create a mrtg configuration file for you. You can find the script in the bin subdirectory. cfgmaker --global 'WorkDir: /home/httpd/mrtg' --global 'Options[_]: bits,growright' --output /home/mrtg/cfg/mrtg.cfg community@router.abc.xyz This example above will create an mrtg config file in /home/mrtg/cfg assuming this is a directory visible on your webserver. You can read all about cfgmaker in cfgmaker. Linux On A Windows Server (VMWare)
I have Windows Server storage server. However I need to run some Linux scripts. Is it possible to run possibly VMWARE to have Linux so I can install the scripts use the Windows which has content to be used. Kinda tricky I know but worth a shot. Windows - Has all the content , but can't run scripts such as file hosting , streaming server (WMV wont do) , HTML/PHP server scripts.
