Pointing Domain From Yahoo To Go Daddy Servers
I have a customer who registered his domain name with yahoo he now wants to point that domain to a hosting account that I have started for him at GoDaddy. Should be simple but it has been anything but.
He has emailed Yahoo several times with no response, he has called their tech-line only to be told he needs to email them instead. We finally figured out through GoDaddy that Yahoo registers through Melbourne IT. He has tryed calling Melbourne they are in turn asking for a 12 digit registration number that my customer does not have. Melbourne told him he needs to get this from Yahoo, Yahoo says they do not give registration numbers out. This leaves my customer with only 2 options, either register a brand-new domain through GoDaddy or go with Yahoo for hosting.
Has anyone else experienced this? Did you ever finally get through and get things transfered?

What To Do About Another Domain Pointing Toward Your IP
We recently moved one server to a colo provider and were issued new IP's. One IP is causing us trouble. We have been getting blocked from sending email to AOL and other free email companies. When we contacted AOL we were told that they had received complaints about our IP and it was blocked. Upon doing a RBL check and IP check, it seems that the former owner of our IP is still pointing his domain via eNom to our IP and had at one time sent spam. If you reverse DNS our IP's. bad domain -> our IP our domain -> our IP We contacted the eNom legal department (bad domain's registrar) about the problem. They responded that they could not do anything about it, only the registrant could. The spammy domain registrant obviously does not respond to our contacts. What is the best course of action?

Domain Pointing ...
(Background) Looking for some advise on domain pointing currently I have a UK server hosting my billing system which is replicated each evening over to my US server I want to sub domain my primary domain to uk.yourdomain.com & us.yourdomain.com As redundancy I would also like uk.yourdomain.com to point to the US server should the UK one fail - giving me redundancy, I figure in the next few months I can do this on our AU - creating au.yourdomain.com and replicating our billing system to that datacenter too. (question) - can this been setup and configured from server level, ie on my primary server WHM dns zones OR should this be created on a registrar level?

Subdomains Pointing To Different Servers
I have a high-traffic domain & I want to create subdomains of this domain and point these subdomains to different servers. Each subdomain will have different content. For eg. music.domain.com will have music relatd content, videos.domain.com will have videos etc. The purpose of this is to spread the traffic and hence reduce load on each server. How do I create such subdomains? Creating subdomain from cpanel points to the same server. If i create subdomain from domain registrar it just points / redirects as 301 redirect to a URL I give.

Domain Name Server DNS Pointing
Hello all, hope someone can help. I have a domain incl. hosting (fanferwalde.com) and three extra domain names, fanferwalde.nl , fanfalingasate.com , fanfalingasate.nl (all three without hosting) who I want to point to fanferwalde.com. Before I bought the extra domains I asked the provider if I could point the extra domains to the “head” domain (fanferwalde.com). Yes, that was possible they said so I bought the extra domains. I asked the provider to help with the configuration to point them to the head domain but they refused, I must do it by myself…………………….. There is no possibility they do it when I pay extra for it so I feel pressed to take also a hosting for the extra domains; then I can make a redirect on each index page. All domain names have an own DNS control panel. I have full access to this. The first picture is the DNS from the head domain. The second picture is the DNS from one of the extra domains I want to point to the head domain. What must I put where so the website from fanferwalde.com will appear when I write fanferwalde.nl in the browser? THANKS in advance!!! (Sorry for my bad English, I’m Dutch)

Someone Else's Domain Name Is Pointing To Mine
I'm designing a site, www.streetsmartscooters.com, to (obviously) sell scooters. Just yesterday I saw on my Google Analytics that people were getting to my site by searching for X-treme X-10, a particular brand and model of scooter. I typed the keywords into Google to see what my rankings were, and I was on the fourth page. But the green URL in the search listing showed up as mamafocka.com. When you go to mamafocka.com, it's all the same information as my website, and changes I make through my FTP login update immediately. If you go to streetsmartscooters.com, you can click on the "Electric Scooters" link on the left nav and it will keep you on mamafocka, but give you the exact same page as on streetsmartscooters (I set that particular link to be relative in the includes file). My site is hosted on a Windows 2003 virtual server from GoDaddy. SelfSeo.com says that mamafocka.com and streetsmartscooters.com both have the same IP - 208.109.99.16. I just signed up for a dedicated IP address tonight from GoDaddy, but I'm not sure how long it takes to propagate. Will getting a dedicated IP fix this problem, or have I wasted 6 bux? Is there any way to block that domain name from pointing to my site? It doesn't look to my novice eyes like this is a redirect. Also, I installed FreeFind on the site earlier this week, I believe. Could somebody have messed with something through that?

How To Modify Cpanel Default Page When Domain Is Pointing To Server
When a domain name is pointing to our server and the account is not setup yet, there's a default page that says:" Quote: Great Success! They now have to add content to this directory and replace this placeholder page, or else point the server at their real content. How can I modify that page ONLY for ROOT accounts and not my resellers?

Yahoo Is Blocking Our Domain Name Emails
We are only a small construction business in NEW Zealand, and send very few emails. But from the 4th April, Yahooo has started blocking all emails from our domain name? We hve not done bulk newsletters, we have not had bulk reject messages. Our website/ email host is Clevernet. YAhoo NZ have sent us a bulk email form, which Clevernet submitted. We then had to get another approved server form filled out by Cleverney which they did last Friday, but our email domain is still blocked. Xtra/ Yahoo NZ< seem to think there is nothing they can do, but wait and see if Yahoo unblock it. There does not seem to be anyone who we can contact at the Yahoo server. NZ say they cant contact anyone at Yahoo. We seem to be stuck between a rock and a hard place.

2 Servers 1 Domain
I know reminds you of something else doesn't it? Seriously though, If I have 1 managed linux dedicated server (CentOS w/ cpanel v.11) and 1 managed windows dedicated server (Windows Server 2003 w/ Plesk 8) and want to the setup automatically through WHMCS under the same domain name (or appearance) how would I accomplish this task? I know that I could simply add additional servers to the server configuration of 1 whmcs billing software installation. The problem is if I had to buy a separate domain for the other server and run them through 1 website it may appear shady to have the domain name change in the url during checkout. I've seen few web hosts other both kinds of hosting through 1 website without redirecting to a different domain. If I have to have 2 different domains assigned to 2 different server boxes could I mask/cloak/I don't know the technical word for it so that the url appears as the same domain weather purchasing shared hosting for windows or linux?

Domain Name Servers
I recently had my registrar change the name servers of [url] to point to a new host. Its been a month since that change was made. When I go to the website on my work computer, it seems to point to the new host during the day but in the evening around after 5PM for some reason it points to the old host. My registrar refuses to acknowledge a problem because they see the WHOIS information pointing to the correct name servers. When it is pointing to the new host I can login to cpanel and webmail using the new hosts' credentials. When it is pointing to the old host I can only use the old login credentials for the old host. So far this has only happened to me at work. Could it be something to do with my work ISP? When the domain is incorrectly pointing to the old host I can ask friends on other ISPs over instant messenger to check the domain and they are referred to the new web host.

Managing Two Servers In One Domain
I'm trying to set up a new site on a new server, primarily informational, while maintaining the old order-taking and database functionality of the existing one. This new one is an Ubuntu vm with samba and apache all set, but the old one is running Tomcat and basically takes java programming to update. How can I properly route incoming requests to the proper server, pass back and forth login information (which resides on the old server), etc? I'm a relative newbie to all this, so the solution might be blindingly obvious, but it's a bit daunting to get them working in tandem.

Same Domain And Nameservers, Two Servers
I have two VPS packages. Both are running exactly the same stuff - Centos 5.3, cPanel/WHM, etc One domain (example.com), already pointing to first server (server1) Nameservers (ns1 & ns2.example.com) are set up in WHM of server1. I then bought a second VPS (server2). I want to be able to set up subdomains of my main domain (sub.example.com) on the second VPS. I also want my existing nameservers to work for server2. This way, I can provide subdomain packages to people and utilise both servers, and I can also provide the same nameservers to people regardless of the server they are on. I went to the clustering section of the WHM's, I enabled, and I can see server1 in the WHM of server2, and the other way around. I selected Sync Changes under DNS Role. However I don't think that's really done anything. How can I get this to work? Sorry if I've written it in a confusing manner.

One Domain On Multiple Servers

Basically, our goal is to have our own store for Lean Bulk, but it will be run by a different company, and will be on their server. Soo, the store database and custom script will be staying on their server, but my forums will be staying on my server. What I want is for the store to be located at [url]or [url] Either one works for me. However, the tech guy that runs all the stuff for the store, is trying to tell me that this is "impossible." While it might be somewhat difficult, I have a hard time believing anything is really impossible. The tech says the only thing we can do is have the store located at: [url] Personally, I think this looks unprofessional, and would rather stay away from this solution.

Website Hosting ... Pointing To Server
I dont know where else to post this, but I am having a weird problem that I do not understand. I have this domain, that I am pointing to a VPS hosting service. I currently have 2 domains pointing here. my main domain, works fine. I go to the domain, no issues (www.whiteazn.com) but the 2nd domain, is where i am having problems (firstbaptisthenderson.org) It is pointed to the same server. but the problem is, it seems like the server change, never "propogated" throughout the internet. So, while MOST of the time, it hits the server as I expect, there are times where it goes to the Generic Network Solutions Page Not Found Error (you know, when you just buy a domain, go to that domain and see some generic page there?). and refreshing, clearing cache, etc, still shows for like 1 minute, then after a bit of refreshing, will see the normal page that should be there. this happens ever so often. I dont go to it everyday, but i think it does it periodically. I dont know what the issue is? Both my domains are pointed to: DNS1547.DIZINC.COM DNS1548.DIZINC.COM The change to the DNS servers was made like 6 months ago, and this issue has always shown up.

Pointing An A-Record To A PLESK Server
I am currently having a few technical difficulties with configuring my PLESK server to accept an A Record from another domain. Perhaps I have been going about this all wrong but I will explain what I am trying to do and how I have currently been trying to get it to work. Hopefully you might have a suggestion for me to try. We currently run an On-Demand web design platform. This CMS can be completely rebranded for our Partners who can then sell this facility to their clients. There is only one installation of the code base but we need to give our partners a their own web address to access the cms. For example: cms.altstudio.com.au cms.pcgraphicart.com.au cms.pcgraphicart.com.au has been set up as a domain alias. The reason this is working is because the primary domain pcgraphicart.com.au is also hosted on this server. So I thought if the partner has their domain delegated elsewhere then I could simply get them to create an A record for their chosen subdomain and point it to our IP address, then I could configure the domain alias again for their particular A record and hey presto. Unfortunately not so easy. Here are two of the examples of what is happening cms.newlight.com.au - their root domain is delegated elsewhere, but they have created an A-record for that subdomain and pointed it to 202.60.87.185. Now it reaches my server as I see a PLESK error page at that address. At this stage I don't really know what to try to get PLESK to register that entry. I have created a domain alias for cms.newlight.com.au on the cms.altstudio.com.au account but it didn't pick things up. Another example is cms.abconsulting.com.au

Hardware: Db Servers, Web Servers, File Servers. Cpu, Ram, Disk
I have a lot of questions here so if you can't answer them all I understand. even pointing me somewhere where I could get the answers would be appreciated; hardware sites focusing on server hardware, forums focusing on such, etc. we plan to have three different types of servers: - db server (self explanatory. mysql. for forums, mysql driven sites.) - file server (lots of files around ~2-10MB, consistant 70mbps right now, but we want more room for upgrades. needs a LOT of storage room.) - web server (lots of php files, but also static things like plain html, images, etc. also includes all misc services for the setup-- dns, etc.) could I be given a rundown for which hardware each of the three should have? I don't need specifics, even just knowing that more ram is important here while cpu doesn't matter as much, or that the fastest disks available are a must, etc would all be valuable info for me. despite that, I certainly wouldn't mind specific hypothetical hardware configs. for the database server I'm assuming the more ram the better. not entirely sure about the cpu? also not positive on disks... for the fileserver, how much ram would be practical or useful? disk io will be an issue I'm because plenty of people will be pulling files at once so the disk needs to read from multiple places. scsi (and even raptors) are not an option as we need 750GB+ of space on a reasonable budget. more ram will take some load of of the disks, but how much is neccessary / reasonable? for the web server I'm assuming cpu first, then ram, but it'll likely need less ram than the db server? I'm more lost on the disks than anything. scsi on the fileserver is not an option under any circumstances due to $/GB. for the db & web server I'm willing to pay for scsi if the performance increase really does warrant the extra money, but I'd like to be convinced before shelling it out. if you have benchmarks geared at server hardware when it comes to disks I'd really appreciate it. also, what's the best way to network these together when colocated? each one with a dual gigabit ethernet port and then the communications go to and from the router?
