OK, I am confused. I have one domain that is parked on top of another domain. I would like Mail that comes to the parked domain to be automatically forwarded to the same user name at the primary domain.
Can I change a DNS or MX record to facilitate this?
I wanted to point my MX record from my registrar's dns to a hosted account that is controlled by cPanel, but inside cPanel I don't see a unique MX record, it just lists my domain name. Is this possible with cPanel? I have done this before with H-Sphere.
I am just parking my domain and using my registrar's nameservers and wanted to just add in the MX record for email.
I have a dedicated server with Hostgator and I want to point img1.smackjeeves.com to img1.smackjeeves.com on my Dreamhost server. Dreamhost tells me what nameservers to use for smackjeeves.com, but my Hostgator server is already serving as a nameserver. Can I have my main DNS record point to Dreamhost's DNS only for img1? Or do I need to have my img1 mimic Dreamhost's DNS for img1?
I am a customer of Yahoo Small Business unlimited hosting. I am running Joomla (CMS) with jreviews which uses PHP and MySQL. I now need to expand my review and rating website to earn some profits. According to my business plan, I would need atleast a 1000-2000 unique visitors a day to actually earn off the website to afford a VPS. My question is, can Yahoo Small Business "Unlimited" hosting plan sustain that number under the usage of Joomla? I have been trying to find an answer to this for a long long time but to no avail. I know that "unlimited" is actually a marketing tactic and that one must move to VPS or Dedicated servers for serious traffic. But I cannot move to a VPS before I earn something from the website initially due to lack of funds. Can I expect to be tension free till the range of 1000-2000 uniques/day?
My client would like to go for a real hosting company. However, he has some concerns about his archived emails. He want to move all those email to the host.
Often when it comes to choosing or recommending a host, I tend to favor the ones that are larger, and more established such as Hotgator or Downtown Host. But in some other threads, I have seen plenty of people swear by some smaller hosts. Are there some good examples of small hosts that have been around for 3 or more years and have a great reputation?
Anybody using 2 different 3rd party Managed DNS services like dnsmadeeasy.com and ultradns.com on same domain name ?
Reason for doing it is because we are having resolving issues also the domain name is ".in" not ".com/net/org".
Now we have added nameservers of both the providers in the domain registrar control panel. Total it has 8 name servers now.
I copy pasted exactly same A records & Mx record and same ttl.
Q1) The NS records on both the dns services are Different. Should i add the 1st dns providers 4 nameservers in the 2nd dns providers panel and viceversa?
Q2) will this setup work anybody done it before .. does create problems?
I have a CDONTS script which has been sending mail from a client's website form to their address. However, the script has suddenly stopped working. It doesn't error, they just don't receive the mail. I've tried CCing myself in the script and the mail is not getting through. The script itself is tried and tested and syntaxially correct.
I think the problem is because they're using their own exchange server, not the web hosts' mail server. Therefore I would expect that mail sent from the web script wouldn't go through because there is no local mail server to process it.
The problem is that the script hasn't changed, the host say their system hasn't changed, and the client's IT team say their exchange settings haven't changed!
I could set up a CDOSYS script to use their Exchange server to deal with the email, but their IT support won't allow relaying, so I don't think this is possible.
Is connecting to their Exchange box the only option, or should the website host still be able to process the web-script-generated mail despite not being their mail provider? I'm getting a lot of grief here, but it can't be the script that has suddenly broken because nobody has touched it!
We switched to a 3rd party mail server provided by our local ISP, however when attempts are made to mail anyone on our domain a message similar to one of the following is received:
Quote:
This is an automatically generated Delivery Status Notification
Delivery to the following recipient failed permanently:
Hi. This is the qmail-send program. I'm afraid I wasn't able to deliver your message to the following addresses. This is a permanent error; I've given up. Sorry it didn't work out.
<my_email_address@our_domain>: 70.43.63.21 does not like recipient. Remote host said: 550 5.7.1 <my_email_address@our_domain>... Relaying denied Giving up on 70.43.63.21.
I've made sure the MX records are in place on our nameserver, and I've verified this with DNS Stuff.
We are trying to implement a reseller model shopping website for our resellers. The customized shopping website for the reseller will be hosted on our website, say: abc.xyz.com
We want our resellers to load abc.xyz.com from their own sub domain itself, like: shopping.abc.com
I know that this can be done using a URL redirection, but is there any way that shopping.abc.com will load the contents from abc.xyz.com and still keep the URL unchanged in the address bar ? I'm not referring to URL masking using iframes and note that xyz.com and abc.com are on different servers. Does anyone know whether this is technically feasible?
i have a reseller plan with ahost.com for my paid hosting, I want to setup a account with cheaphost.com for free accounts.
My main domain is mydomain.com and i want this to point to the reseller account on ahost.com, i want the free site to be free.mydomain.com and point to the reseller account on cheaphost.com
Is this possible? If so.. how would i go about setting this up? My domain registrar is godaddy.com
I bought a new domain name today from godaddy. I'm having problems with my host. There saying that there is something wrong with my .htaccess file and I dont know what to do. My host looked over my server and said there is nothing wrong with it at all. Well, obviously there is because im getting a [url] Internal 500 server error.
i have a domain on ipower.com and my hosting company wont give me a dns i only have 5 IP's how can i point my domain to my new dedicated server i just purchased a dedicated server and im new with it.
I have always been using a no-ips service for a domain name. It was really easy with the dynamic update client because I have a dynamic ip.
I have just registered a domain and would like to point that to my server also. My registrar says it is currently parked, there doesn't seem to be an option to unpark it anywhere. I have also changed the nameserver to my no-ip domain name. Nothing is happening.
I have also googled dns.. If I want to point my domain directly to my server do I need to go and install Active Directory and then dns or can I just install DNS, do I even need to do this??
Seems like a lot of hassle tbh, this is really frustrating me because i'm pretty tech savvy but am completely lost here..
I have a domain name from godaddy and recently got a host plan in hostgator.
As this is the first time I use hosting, it is very confusing how to set it up properly. So far what I figured out and was able to set is the DNS in godaddy and the add-on domain in hostgator.
So now I was able to point 'MyDomain' to direct to 'hostgatorDomain/MyFolder/' (names just for example).
The problem is that masking is not turned on and who ever clicks 'MyDomain' will get to the right location, but the address will change to 'hostgatorDomain/MyFolder/'.
I am looking for setup a gateway (reverse proxy I guess?), specifically how to configure Apache to point to different webservers depending on domain name.
I currently have a single webserver running multiple virtual domains all accessible via a single external IP address.
I would like to break this into 2 servers each running multiple virtual domains accessible via gateway with a singe external IP address.
As an example, a single internet IP address points to port 80 on the gateway machine. The gateway machine will determine if its example1.com, example2.com, example3.com or example4.com. If its example1.com or example2.com it will direct internally to webserver1 and if its example3.com or example4.com it will direct internally to webserver2.
Webserver1 and webserver2 each host different websites via virtual hosts.
Is this possible and if so, what is the correct configuration of the gateway machine. I currently have installed apache2 with mod_proxy enabled, but I am struggling with configuring it properly.
We are only a small construction business in NEW Zealand, and send very few emails. But from the 4th April, Yahooo has started blocking all emails from our domain name?
We hve not done bulk newsletters, we have not had bulk reject messages. Our website/ email host is Clevernet.
YAhoo NZ have sent us a bulk email form, which Clevernet submitted. We then had to get another approved server form filled out by Cleverney which they did last Friday, but our email domain is still blocked.
Xtra/ Yahoo NZ< seem to think there is nothing they can do, but wait and see if Yahoo unblock it. There does not seem to be anyone who we can contact at the Yahoo server. NZ say they cant contact anyone at Yahoo. We seem to be stuck between a rock and a hard place.
I would like to find a host that could handle 2 or 3 domains but without bells and whistles... everything with shared hosting is $25 a month and up! All 3 sites are under 1mb (not likely to go over 3 mb), written in good old HTML; I would prefer a File Manager but FTP is OK too. Must be US based and have a reasonable uptime guarantee.
I have a site mydomain-name.com that is running and the mail server for it was mail.mydomain-name.org
However the mydomain-name.org has expired and I don't want to renew it. I just want to use the .com domain and have the mail use mail.mydomain-name.com
So i created the MX records for the .com domain .. Now my question is do i have to also contact my registar for the domain and ask them to update their records so that now it points to the new MX?
I am really new at this stuff so please bare with me.. when i do an nslookup in DOS it still shows the .org as my mail server.
mydomain-name.com MX preference = 10, mail exchanger = mail.mydomain-name.org
Is this something that needs to be changed at the registrar level?
