Plesk Unable To Add Domain :: Such DNS Record Already Exists
I added a domain name through Plesk. after that I deleted it because I wasn't happy with the configuration and thought I'd just start from scratch.
now, I'm unable to add it. the domain is not listed with the other domains on the server, however when I try to add it I get "Such DNS record already exists".

DNS Subdomain Record Point To Another DNS Nameserver
I have a dedicated server with Hostgator and I want to point img1.smackjeeves.com to img1.smackjeeves.com on my Dreamhost server. Dreamhost tells me what nameservers to use for smackjeeves.com, but my Hostgator server is already serving as a nameserver. Can I have my main DNS record point to Dreamhost's DNS only for img1? Or do I need to have my img1 mimic Dreamhost's DNS for img1?

Pointing An A-Record To A PLESK Server
I am currently having a few technical difficulties with configuring my PLESK server to accept an A Record from another domain. Perhaps I have been going about this all wrong but I will explain what I am trying to do and how I have currently been trying to get it to work. Hopefully you might have a suggestion for me to try. We currently run an On-Demand web design platform. This CMS can be completely rebranded for our Partners who can then sell this facility to their clients. There is only one installation of the code base but we need to give our partners a their own web address to access the cms. For example: cms.altstudio.com.au cms.pcgraphicart.com.au cms.pcgraphicart.com.au has been set up as a domain alias. The reason this is working is because the primary domain pcgraphicart.com.au is also hosted on this server. So I thought if the partner has their domain delegated elsewhere then I could simply get them to create an A record for their chosen subdomain and point it to our IP address, then I could configure the domain alias again for their particular A record and hey presto. Unfortunately not so easy. Here are two of the examples of what is happening cms.newlight.com.au - their root domain is delegated elsewhere, but they have created an A-record for that subdomain and pointed it to 202.60.87.185. Now it reaches my server as I see a PLESK error page at that address. At this stage I don't really know what to try to get PLESK to register that entry. I have created a domain alias for cms.newlight.com.au on the cms.altstudio.com.au account but it didn't pick things up. Another example is cms.abconsulting.com.au

Unable To Access Sites On Plesk Server
When trying to access any web sites or webmail on a plesk server i keep getting the following. Forbidden You don't have permission to access / on this server. Additionally, a 403 Forbidden error was encountered while trying to use an ErrorDocument to handle the request. Nothing as far as i can see has changed on the server. I cant access plesk control panel due to network restrictions but have command line access. what could of caused this blanket ban? Cant see any changes in .htaccess files, but didnt think that plesk would affect these much anyway

Wildcard Dns Record
I have a server: serverA.maindomain.com and another serverB.maindomain.com The DNS records for maindomain.com are on serverA so the serverB A record is on serverA which is fine (i am aware it's a risk if serverA goes down). If I'm setting a sub domain of serverB such as site1.serverB.maindomain.com I have to setup an A record on serverA for the subdomain and I don't want to have to do this every time. Is there anyway I can setup a wildcard A record for subdomains such as: *.serverB.maindomain.com

I have lot of proxies hosted on my dedicated server. Currently i use servage.net nameservers and change the A-Record ip of the domain to the dedicated server ips.My dedicated server provides only very limited DNS services so i cant use them. Since i have sold all my other sites in servage,i dont want to continue that hosting account. All the domains are registered in Domain.com which do not provide any DNS services. So is there any free or very cheap place where i can use the nameservers and edit A-record to my dedicated server?it should not have any down time etc and should be reliable. Thats the only requirement i need so i dont want to waste a full hosting account for just that redirecting functionality.

MX Record Domain Has Expired
I have a site mydomain-name.com that is running and the mail server for it was mail.mydomain-name.org However the mydomain-name.org has expired and I don't want to renew it. I just want to use the .com domain and have the mail use mail.mydomain-name.com So i created the MX records for the .com domain .. Now my question is do i have to also contact my registar for the domain and ask them to update their records so that now it points to the new MX? I've enabled add on domains for one of my server accounts and set up the add on domain addondomain1.com using CPanel. After setting it up the main URL works fine. However, any URL that ends with a directory path but no file name constantly redirects to a URL that's on the subdomain of the main account, not the add on domain... This problem doesn't happen if the URL path ends with a file name like file.php Would there be a server configuration error causing this?

I found that the domain name add-on I had before in my cPanel account is missing, so I tried to add-on a domain name back, it says: Error from domain wrapper: Domain already exists, it was not added.: the.domainaddon.com The question is how do I clear them all off related to this domain? Migrating A Add-on Domain
Basically I have one website hosted (add-on domain) on a shared server. Now this domain has to moved to another server on its own. I have no doubt backing up the database from the current server and restoring it but is there an easy way to move the website, mailbox contents? Inside my root folder the folder /public_html/yourdomain/ is created. When I create the subdomain subdomain.yourdomain.com, the folder /public_html/subdomain/ is created instead of /public_html/yourdomain/subdomain/ Can I assign the /public_html/yourdomain/subdomain/ folder to be the root of subdomain.yourdomain.com? e.g. I have the file image.jpg at /public_html/yourdomain/subdomain/image.jpg and it's accessed from subdomain.yourdomain.com/image.jpg Is this possible? Having a lot of folders directly under /public_html/ would get annoying for me.

Difference Between A Cname Record And A Domain Pointer
I am seriously confused mainly because of the way it was explained in my training at work. Can someone please give me an explantion of the difference between creating a cname record and using a domain pointer? My understanding is that they both effectively do the same thing which is allow one ip address to be used for different domains. Extra marks given for an easy to understand analogy as i'm definately a visual learner.

Add Domain Via Direct Admin
When I introduce myself as a newbie, I do not exaggerate. Hope to slowly change that, thought. I have recently rented a dedicated server from worldstream and have paid for a lifetime usage of Directadmin. My goal is just to host my own site. Now I am trying to transfer the my domain to this server. From what I can tell, I need to change the DNS for the domain from it's current DNS. In the Directadmin control panel under "DNS Administration", I see "Add Zone" which I assume is the step to take. Under "Add zone", it asks for (1) Domain name (what format would I enter this) (2) IP Address (I was supplied with three IP's when I signed up with worldstream. Do I just pick one of these?) (3) Name Server 1 (Unsure of what to enter here) (4) Name Server 2 (Ditto as above) I realize this is quite basic for most.

I moved my whole account from one server to another but now the add-on domains inside the main domain are not working. Can You Add Too Many Aliased Domain Names
Is it possible to add too many aliased domain names on a Dedicated server? I have Hostgator's most powerful dedicated server and I added probably 150 domain names as aliases to one of my websites. Now today all of the sudden none of my other sites will load on the web. When I try to go to one of my sites it just thinks and thinks but never loads. I'm using WHM with cPanel. Can aliased names cause too much server load? Some of those 150 domains get a little traffic but not much.

Add A Domain To My Dedi Box
About 4 days back i ordered and got a Xeon dedicated box from Softlayer BUT i am stuck adding one domain. First i tried making a new account for this domain through WHM but problem was not solved, so today i parked this domain to a domain's cPanel account but after that also problem was not solved So, let me first explain you whole problem. Suppose my domain is my-domain.com This domain my-domain.com was added to shared hosting account at ace-host.net. But after purchasing dedicated server, i shifted whole site data to new server and changed the nameservers of my-domain.com with new ones and atlast i removed this domain from my Ace-host.net account. Then i waited for about 2days to domain to propagate with new server's namesevers. But when nothing happened (i checked the domain whois record, they were showing my new server's nameservers), atlast i contacted Softlayer regarding this and after sometime they replied We have given the correct server alias for your domain my-domain.com in apache configuration and it was working fine that monent. But after sometime i checked that my-domain.com is loading fine but it is taking whole data (including database and templates) from my OLD HOST ... Ace-host.net! As i have already mentioned that i have already deleted my-domain.com from Acehost account and also updated the my-domain.com's nameservers with new dedicated server's. And i checked many times WHOIS records from different websites at that moment. All were showing nameserver records of my new server. I now contacted PSM and they after sometime replied that its working now as they just had to restart dns server. BUT NOW , today again samething is happening! (on the 4th day) so, i terminated my-domain.com's account from my server's WHM. and then parked in other domain cPanel account on same (Softlayer) server but still problem is still there!! Domain is registered at Namecheap.com NOTE: I am not saying anything against PSM or Softlayer and their support staff. They are both THE BEST in the market! and they have helped me a lot manytimes. I also have two more domains on this new server and both are working fine from very first day. They are registered with local registrar not with namecheap.

Can I Point MX Record For Third-party Domain To Yahoo Small Biz Mail?
My client has a domain registered at GoDaddy and a Yahoo Small Business email package. The only info I can find on Yahoo suggests I need to redelegate the domain's name servers to Yahoo, and I'd rather not do this if I can help it. Is it possible to simply leave the name servers at GoDaddy and point the MX record to Yahoo's servers? I don't see anything on Yahoo saying it won't work, but then I see nothing to suggest it will either!

Host will only update DNS in batches, takes several hours for a DNS change, is that normal? Well today my mail stopped working and it turns out the A record for mail was deleted. How it got deleted I don't know. I called my host and after speaking to 2 techs, they said that have added my request to a batch, and that would update in a few hours. I said to him, batch? What can't you do it instantly? He said thats not the way their DNS works and any DNS change would affect thousands of other sites they are hosting. Does anyone know what kind of dns system these people could possibly have where they can not reload a single zone? And by affected, I think he means the sites will go down for a minute or so, while it relaods every zone. Is this really the case, or are these people just idiots?

I have a vps with dedicated ip's for my domain names. I read that in order for mails coming from my server not be picked up as spam, i need to add reverse ip entries. Now i have already added the glue nameserver records on my godaddy control panel, ns1.mydomain.com -> 10.20.30.40 ns2.mydomain.com -> 10.20.30.41 But do i need to speak to the datacenter to add the reverse dns entries for my domain on their nameservers? What about if i host my nameservers offsite, but then have my webserver/mailserver etc inside the datacenter? Would i need to request the datacenter where the nameservers are hosted to add the reverse ip entries for the domain, and then the request the same from the datacenter for my web/mail servers to add the reverse entries? Is it really required?

Domain Parking - Wildcard Domain Name Server (DNS)?
We have a lot of unused domains that we'd like to setup domain parking for. To keep it simple, we'd like to just change the namesevers to ns1.domainparking.com and ns2.domainparking.com (not real nameservers!) and the domains would then automatically show a simple web page. We use cpanel servers and are wondering how easy this is to do? I've seem mention of wildcard dns? Is that the answer?

Domain Parking With Win2k3 Domain Name Server (DNS)?
i have about 8 different domains i'd like to point to a nameserver (ns1./ns2.mydomain.com) on Win2k3 server, but i can't get them resolved through my nameserver without creating a manual forward lookup entry for each *parked* domain separatly.. Does anyone know how to resolve "parked" domains automatically on Win2k3 DNS?? I just can't find any answer for this, everything i've found required manual creation of lookup entries.. anyone?

How To Add An IP In VMWare Server 2? Add On The VPS Directly Or First On The Host?
I have configured and install VMWare Server on my server and currently trying to install Plesk. I have gotten the network working so I can download. I want to give the VMWare Virtual Machine it's own IP so I can connect via PuTTY instead of the console, which e.g. does not let me paste url's (plesk download url is long). I am planning to host a few websites on the Plesk Virtual Machine. I have added the IP my network provider given me using 'setup' in CentOS and it's listed in /sbin/ifconfig, but does not work yet. Do I first need to add the ip to the host server self? Or can a VPS directly use an ip? (PS: Do I use too many hard breaks in my texts?)

Plesk Migration - What About DNS
I will be migrating my VPS over to a new VPS (same provider) which has Fedora 6 instead of 4. Anyhow, all of the IP addresses will change on the new VPS.... so while the migration process via. Plesk should be fairly straightforward, I'm a bit worried about the DNS. The DNS is managed by Plesk and will continue to be managed by Plesk, but again it's the IPs that I'm worried about. All of the hosting accounts on the current VPS use the nameserver "ns1.citedata.net" and "ns2.citedata.net" as well as their associated IP addresses. Although the nameserver domains will remain the same, their IPs will change.
