Plesk 11.x / Windows :: Separate Backups Of All Sites?
Sep 8, 2013
I do wanted to know if there is any option to program plesk, so that it does separately backups of all sites instead of doing a globally backup of all things in one file.
I do not mind that people an synchronize their account with one of their ftp servers to do backups but what I do want is me also to do backups of all sites separately.
I have been running 1 site on my VPS for some time, but there is still a lot of things I don't understand 100%. Now I want to add another site to the VPS, but keep the sites as separate as possible, and I have no idea how to accomplish this.
Lets say my first domain is football.com. This means I have these settings:
I got 3 IP's: x.x.x.1, x.x.x.2 and a new one x.x.x.9
My hostname is host.football.com (x.x.x.1) My site is www(dot)football.com (x.x.x.1) Nameserver NS1.football.com (x.x.x.1) Nameserver NS2.football.com (x.x.x.2) Reverse DNS on x.x.x.1 to host.football.com Exim running on x.x.x.1
Lets say my second domain is water.com. It's no problem using WHM and run this site on x.x.x.9, but there is a lot of references to football.com (nameservers, hostname and probably emails).
Is there anyway to keep the sites separate? I'm thinking that I need to request 2 new IP's, run NS1.water.com and NS2.water.com on these. I don't know if I can get a host.water.com with reverse DNS, and I guess emails will still be from x.x.x.1.
I've an issue when i tried to create a backup repository by the client control panel, The backup already created but it's not affected on the client disk space !!
It's put in Crogram Files/Paralles/Plesk/Backup/reseller/resellername/clients/domain.com
Now, I have critical disk space usage because the one client has schedule daily backups and it's not affected on his account usage!!
1- I've check for permissions and repair plesk database. 2- I've make repair quota. 3- Updated plesk
On windows 2008 server with Plesk 11.5, the Secure your Sites option is not displayed. In addition unable to share SSL certificates across many sites with shared IP address.
I am using Windows Server 2008 R2 with Plesk 12.0.18 Update #25 with single IP address assigned to the server.
Is it possible to do the following with only 1 IP address:
-Host 4 shared hosting websites on the same IP but also use the same IP address to install and setup a shared SSL Cert. for hostname AND for 1 of 4 hosted websites ...
I just started using plesk for my blogs and websites, so testing and finding my way around i notice every site i add instead of having its own folder just like in cpanel(shared hosting) the sites are been added under the primary domain.
I've got a situation in which I need to have a set of mail accounts that share a domain name with a domain that's already in use as a domain alias and because the domain is already in use, I'm unable to create a new account using that domain. I tried explicitly adding "www" to the domain alias so I could keep the www.domain.com address as an alias and reserve the "domain.com" name for use as a separate account, but Plesk won't allow for that.
How to address this? The idea I'm currently considering is to delete the domain alias and then create the new account and manually set the DOCUMENT ROOT of the new account to refer to the other domain's document root. I'm sure this could create some difficulty in Plesk so I'm looking for input before trying it. I'm actually not even sure exactly where I would be able to redefine the document root with Plesk allowing the change and not overwriting it later.
If all else fails, I can setup a new account on a different and unrelated Plesk server, but I'd prefer not to do that.
I have 2 Windows VPS (the provider name does not matter) and as you may know most VPS providers recommed to backup on your side, because they don't take responsabilities on your data and their backup systems.
So my question is what backup software/procedure, would you recommend?
My VPS include IIS files and MySQL/SQL server database software/data, and I am not using any control panel.
This has been happening for about 6 months, someone has been exploiting my windows server and causing 300 php.exe processes to run, therefore making the CPU usage go to 100% and cause all php sites to not function. It is a perl script, and I had gotten ahold of the explot, but am unsure how to block it,
what the following is doing, and how to block it.. once I find the script again I will add it to the post..
I work for Microsoft. Used to be a regular participant on Web Hosting Talk a few years ago (then moved over to Europe at that time). I've been doing some work recently that has led me back to the community here to ask for some input on where administrators of Windows-based hosting services go to find technical information.
How often might you use the following two Web sites?
1) [Hosting Solutions on TechNet]
2) [Windows Hosting Discussions]
I've just re-registered a new account so I have to do the five post thing before I can insert links, otherwise I'd to a direct link to the two above. If you're not familar with them, just do a Web search for those phrases and the sites will be at the top of the list.
Are there other Web sites that you use regularly for technical information on operating Windows hosting services? Or do you mostly just enter a phrase in Google and temporarily use the Web site/s that come up in the search results?
I'm running a backup of a subscription and I checked "Create a multivolume backup" and set the "volume size" to 1024. Once the backup is complete the backup still shows as 1 volume, not broken up into 1 GB pieces.
Since upgrading to v12* I have had issues backing up to my FTP repo, the errors are limited but how to come over it?I have searched and checked all common issues, space on drive, space on destination etc.
One of my clients needs a dedicated server. I already know SoftLayer is really good from personal experience, but he needs both a Managed box and a Backup Solution, neither of which SoftLayer offers. I know they offer a 1Gig lockbox, but it's your responsibility to make sure files are transferred daily.
Basically what he needs is the following
- Server 2003
- As fully managed as possible because I am not on hand 24/7
- A control panel to handle everything. Plesk and Helm work. I'd say Plesk since they now seem to own HELM
- A backup solution at the very least once a week, once a day is better
- 24/7 Technical support with a phone number to call (not just ticket) in case of emergency.
Please let me know any suggests of hosts you use that were good. I have used many hosts in my life but only really liked SoftLayer (lacking the 2 features said) and AxisHost (no live number) so really need some feed back on this.
I'm going to migrate my current web server to Plesk soon, and before I would like to know if I need a stable Internet connection to use the migration tool. My sites and databases are more than 5GB and my Internet connection at home is not very stable currently, so I would like to know if the migration stops as soon my Internet connection interrupts, or if it's completes automatically between the two servers once the migration has been started.
I'm migrating sites from Plesk 9 to Plesk 12 using the migration manager. Since the migration manager doesn't migrate backups, are the backups compatible between Plesk 9 and Plesk 12? If so, is there an easy way to copy the backups in the correct directory structure since we are forced to use clients in plesk 12 and it changes the directory structure of the backups folders.
