OpenSSL Dll Files - Total Commander 7 - SFTP

Jun 13, 2007

I'm trying to connect to the server via SFTP but when I check the box to do that in Total Commanders settings box it says I need the OpenSSL dll's. I downloaded the must current file from [url] but I can't find any dll files in it and I'm unsure how to proceed.

Transferring 200 Files : Total Files Size Is 25 GB!

Jan 2, 2008

I couldn't keep my mouth shut (technically fingers). A customer wanted to upgrade servers and he needed a way to move the data across. Since I don't allow hard drives to be swapped, they have to do it manually all by themselves. I generally allow up-to 4 days for them to transfer data and make DNS changes, etc. But this time, I offered help! I agreed to move the data (darn me) and it just came out of me, involuntarily.

God knows what just happened... but in a positive way, customer is extremely happy!

So...

Both servers are on cPanel - with root access (duh)

200 odd files which total to 25 GB

1 database about 100 MB in size (no biggie)

I was planning on using one of my Windows 2003 servers (via remote desktop) to download the 25 GB and upload the 25 GB, but that sounds like a waste of resources and time.

MC Midnight Commander

Jul 12, 2007

I am getting a new server. I usually install Midnight Commander on every server. I downloaded the latest RPM from RedHats website and installed the RPM with no problem.

However, when I start Midnight Commander (MC) the "gui" part is messy. It seems like a font issue or so. The frame - usually a thin line around the window and columns, is now an ugly looking character "тттттттттттттт" (should normally be "----------").

Any idea how I can fix that? I also tried to install MC from the source file instead of the RPM, but get the same bad result.

RedHat ES4 is the operating system.

Inlabz.com Total Rip Of Simplexwebs.com

Sep 30, 2009

I'm already dealing with this, however I feel you guys should know about the company InLabz (inlabz.com).

This isn't a thread attacking the company, however I feel that when a company totally rips a layout (down to the banners on the rotator and even the links!) this community should know about it.

Basically, they've copied every single aspect of SimplexWebs (simplexwebs.com) - every single minor detail. Therefore, I wouldn't recommended this company. I'm trying to find an email address, or another means of contact, so that I'm able to contact them regarding this issue.

Upgraded To Openssl 0.9.8g But Now Can't Get PHP To Build

Feb 22, 2008

I might still be a bit too close to the newbie level to be trying this
but I wanted upgrade various components of my cpanel install for security issues.

So I got openssl to update to 0.9.8g and that seemed to be working correctly.

Quote:

openssl version
OpenSSL 0.9.8g 19 Oct 2007

So now I am trying to build PHP 4.4.8 like this:

Quote:

./configure --with-litespeed --with-config-file-path=../php --with-mysql=/usr --with-zlib --with-zlib-dir=.. --with-gd --with-jpeg-dir=.. --with-png-dir=.. --enable-shmop --enable-track-vars --enable-sockets --enable-sysvsem --enable-sysvshm --enable-magic-quotes --with-openssl

And it fails because of the openssl:

Quote:

Make
...
In function `zif_openssl_seal':
/php-4.4.8/ext/openssl/openssl.c:2885: undefined reference to `EVP_CIPHER_CTX_block_size'
collect2: ld returned 1 exit status

(I tried --with-openssl=/usr with no change)

Apache :: 2.4.12 Build With OpenSSL 1.0.2

Feb 11, 2015

Do you have plans for building Apache 2.4 with OpenSSL 1.0.2? One good reason for upgrading Apache to OpenSSL to 1.0.2 would be the ability to disable TLS session tickets, eq. when using PFS:

Code : SSLOpenSSLConfCmd Options -SessionTicket

Here are a few references:

[URL] ....

[URL] ....

I tried to experiment with replacing OpenSSL dlls and exe in apachein directory but that did not work, because it looks like SSLOpenSSLConfCmd configuration directive is only available when Apache is compiled against OpenSSL 1.0.2.

proftpd has its own set of issues obviously built with i headers and linked to g headers. Any ideas wtf I did? I recomplined and restarted everything. I removed the g and i libraries completely. OpenSSH seems happy and nothing is actually "wrong", the server is working fine but I'm really anal retentive this way...it's kinda how I feel "safer" at the OS level.

Apache :: Updating From 2.4.6 To 2.4.9 Breaks OpenSSL

Jun 25, 2014

Last week I have updated the apache from 2.4.6 to 2.4.9 version in Win 2008, 64-bit server. There was no openSSL and update was successful. Later I did the update in QA with openSSL and again the updte was successfully completed. Apache services was running fine and everything looked nice.

When I did the same update in the prd where openSSL is also there, it failed to start the service.

steps to update the apache from 2.4.6 to 2.4.9
----------------------------------------------
1> stop the apache services
2> Take the backup by copying original Apache installation directory and rename it . (eg I:Program Files (x86)Apache Software FoundationApache2.2 to Apache2.2_old)
3> Unzip the latest binaries to the temp directory
4> Copy the following files apachebin , apachemodules to the Apache Inst Directory ( I:Program Files (x86)Apache Software FoundationApache2.2)
5> start the apache service
----------------------------------------------------

QA and PRD both has enabled openSSL but it was prd where we got the issue , and the apache services couldnt be started. We have had to revert the change. Find the error log in the apache directory

--------------------------

I read somewhere that there is bug in 2.4.9 as this version breaks the openSSL.

Also read on this forum that someone resolved the issu by changing the server certificate from DER to PEM.

SFTP Users

Oct 14, 2009

we have a WHM account... we have different accounts on that...and for each account, there are add-on domains underneath that. (i hope you know what i mean)

and we set it up to use only SFTP to connect to server. no FTP.

after we have set it up that way, it seems that we can only connect to SFTP using 1 user/pass for each account... that is the same user/pass we use for Cpanel of each account.

say, i have Account A... under Account A, i have addon domains: A1.com, A2.com, A3.com...
setting SFTP only on that server, all those addon domains of Account A, can only use 1 user/pass to login to SFTP which is the cpanel access also of Account A.

question is.... is this behavior correct??

how can we create a different user for each add-on domain?

SFTP Woes

May 1, 2008

I'm trying to upload about 200 Gb of data and it became clear to me to route it out a specific connection sftp was the way to go.. (the ssh2 kind)

The problems I'm now having is that the 2 applications I rely on cannot get the job done.. CuteFTP Pro 8 can't even begin to get it done it crashes, errors out etc. and for while there it looked like the free program WinSCP was going to get it done but now it errors out/crash's and while it actually did get about 1/4 of the data done, it seems to think when it reported it done.. it got it all (that is when it doesn't crash for no reason, these crashes only occurred mainly when I tried to get it do 3/4's or the rest of the data)

So anyway.. recommend me a good client app if you can.. (that does real folder sync transfers) preferably ssh2/sftp, I'm uploading to dreamhost if that makes a difference I assume it doesn't though..

Speeding Up SFTP

Mar 3, 2007

I've noticed that on most servers I use, downloading a file over SFTP is about 4x slower than downloading over HTTP. Can anyone tell me why and if it's possible to tune the SFTP server?

- neither the server nor my desktop shows significant CPU use so it isn't the processing overhead of encryption.

- The symetric key ciphers used should not increase the number of bytes transmitted.

- The file being transferred is already bzipped so the HTTP isn't faster due to compression.

- I'm using OpenSSH on Linux / FreeBSD server side, and WinSCP on Windows XP / Vista client side.

Sftp File Ownership

I have it setup and have a user created that can upload files to my website.

The problem that I am running in to is that the files that this user uploads are owned by him not the cpanel website user. Thus when I try to view the page in my browser I get a server 500 error since the site is set to only serve up pages that are owned by the cpanel website user.

When using FTP in the same way we did not have this problem as the file that was uploaded would automatically be owned by the cpanel website user.
